Fission Mailed (Furry&Me)

Snake nodded, "I did sled dog races whenever I could get the chance to do it. Maryl was demanding and I couldn't stand it. She kept wanting more and for some reason I couldn't provide. Maybe I am just a soldier destined for battle." He admitted as he sighed and then looked up as he looked around tried to move his hand but then stopped realizing that he didn't have an unlimited amount. Sighing he looked over at him, "Otacon I know you loved sniper wolf but had you ever ...gotten anybody else? I just am wondering, Maryl didn't turn out to be the one...but maybe I can find another..." He said though to himself he thought maybe that was too impossible since he was gruff and very hard to live with sometimes.

"That really is a pity," Hal sighed, "I really thought you two were perfect for each other." Then again, he didn't know Meryl all too well but the way Snake had spoken about her whenever she came up in their conversations at Shadow Moses- well, he was able to notice the care in the other man's tone. He shifted slightly at the mention of Sniper Wolf- he knew that she didn't share the same feelings as he did for her, but he couldn't help the little crush... she was the only humane one he had worked with, as crazy as it sounded. "Er... no, not really," Hal admitted with a chuckle. "I don't really go out much, so I haven't really even met anyone. Love is far and few for people like me." He paused to shake his head at the soldier. "You'll find someone, I'm sure- you've just got to make sure you keep yourself alive long enough to meet her. These missions and your smoking will be the death of you."

Snake shook his head, "These missions and this smoking...show that I am still alive and needed." He said in a gruff and grim tone. "I might have been a lapdog in the Shadow Moses events but I was still needed even if I was just some patsy for somebody to use to infect the other members of a group that had once worked for them but turned revolutionary. I am a dog of war...and I accept it.", He said darkly as he wanted another smoke but this was a plane not the outside Alaskan cold like he was used to. "I see.", Snake said simply and nodded to Otacaon's reply about love and how he doesn't get a taste of it often. "I guess even hackers or sometimes the heroes of the story don't get the girl do they?...", He said softly laying back ignoring some of the looks of the other passengers. He wore the suit he had in Shadow Moses which looked more then anything suspicious.

(I totally didn't realize I messed up your name in the title until now D8)

Otacon gave a grim smile, "I guess some people are just born for war, huh?" It amazed the scientist how Snake was able to put himself through all these things and still want to continue on with it. Hal couldn't fathom the stress that Dave was putting on his own body. It was as if Snake didn't feel alive unless he was staring death in the face. He tensed for just a second when the plain jolted forwards and began to move and pick up speed for take off but then the man relaxed. "We both got the girl," he replied, "Yours just wasn't the right one and my relationship was short-lived." Oh, that pun was very much intended.

Snake sighed, "Yeah I killed yours and mine just didn't ...sit well with me." He was more blunt about the situation rather then throw little puns everywhere. "Well, eventually maybe my old self might want to change but right now I face a possible death all the time...remember FOXDIE?...", Snake said quietly since that was top secret and it would stur up a lot of trouble for them. When he felt the plane take off he scoffed. "This flight takes forever I thought we were already in the air.", He said Agitated.

Otacon frowned, gaze shifting downwards. He had truly forgotten about FOXDIE. He could only imagine what it would feel like, knowing that you carry a disease that not only could be the death of you if there's as little as one gene in your DNA that will tigger it... but that you could also be the death of others who are infected just by being in their presence. "It hasn't done anything to you, has it? I mean... you're still healthy, right?"

The scientist sighed and gave a small shake of his head. "Airports tend to rush you to get in and then they take their dear time when it comes to the actual flying."

Snake sighed leaning back, "What I remember from the infection is that is remote controlled and it has specific targets to attack their bodies and cause heart attacks. But ...if you weren't affected for this time it means you had no real threat by the boys upstairs." He said as he pointed up to show some spite toward them. "I hate that, I can't remember how long it has been since I had been in a thing that flew. I shot one down not too long ago but flying one or being in one has been a while. Don't worry Otacon, you probably aren't going to get infected, I am the one that they hate and possible might exterminate when they feel the time is right.", Snake said sighing as he rested his seat back and looked back at Otacon.

Hal managed a small smile. "Not used to sitting still? Riding in airplanes isn't all that bad, you know. The view's always nice," he replied, gesturing out the window. "And it wasn't me I was worrying about, it was you. You put yourself through so much already- it's not right nor fair that you've got an infection injected into you," Otacon stated. "Plus, it's be much more of a loss to the world if a legendary soldier like you were to die than me." The scientist paused to scratch his chin in thought, "But do you think- maybe I'll be able to find a cure or at least be able to null the potential effects of FOXDIE on you? I mean, it'll take tons of work and research but anything's possible, right?"

Snake looked at him, "I don't stand up to the legend...Maryl said that in an excited voice when I met her first time in the facility and then suddenly realized that it is too good to be true. But if you wish to do all that for the 'legendary' soldier like me that dies on the battlefield everyday and just gets stepped on I am flattered." He said softly. "Though Otacon you don't have to do that, I mean it might be more beneficial if I run into somebody that is innocent and gets caught up in this mess that they decide to activate the virus and kill them." He continued as he sighed and laid back and stared at the ceiling, "The view sucks from this high up, it just looks like a flat table." He smirked as he looked over at the scientist. Otacon hadn't changed and he still did all he could to change what he did into something which was being a scientist despite what has been done already.

"The legend you've made for yourself far surpasses the tales anyone has told of you," Otacon replied, "Don't sell yourself short- not many people can do the things you have done." The man unbuckled his seatbelt now that they reached their final altitude and such was no longer necessary- he never understood the points of seatbelts in an airplane; you'd be dead either way if you crashed from this height. "I wouldn't attempt at a cure because you're just a soldier, Snake, or for anyone else who will cross paths with you" he replied, "I'm doing it as a friend."

Otacon huffed slightly as he described the view as a 'flat table'. Leave it to the man to ruin the description of such nice scenery. "Flat table or not, it still looks nice."

Snake chuckled, "Well, it does look like a flat table but sometimes it throws something interesting. I just never get into a plane nowadays." He said as he looked at him again after looking away for a second, "Anyway why do you want to cure me? I just...am wondering." The thought that lingered in his head came up again rearing its ugly head again and he wanted to put it in its place but he didn't know how to advance but this was simple since Otacon had to have some reason for trying to stop FOXDIE.

"What? Too busy mushing dogs now?" But then again, Snake probably never had to ride on a civilian plane; whenever he had to go to a mission, it was probably by fighter jet or something military-based like that. Hal fiddled with his glasses and glanced shyly at his feet before returning his focus to David. "Well, we're friends, right? I don't like seeing my friends any less than in perfect health. Plus, so long as you're staying with me, I've got to take care of you."

Snake nodded, "If you think it is your job Hal..." He said softly as she looked at him some more and then away as he sighed some more. "Well, ...when do you think we will land?" His inpatients didn't leave and in fact it had gotten worse. "Well, mushing dogs was more interesting then riding in a plane but then we can't just fly there can we?", He smirked again at his comment.

"It's not a job if I want to do it," Hal replied with a small grin. He leaned his head against the window to look down at the 'flat table' as they flew over. "A couple of hours, I guess. That's how long it took to get here," he stated, shrugging his shoulders slightly. "Sledding would have been much more of a scenic journey, but I doubt neither you nor the dogs would want to endure a trip across the country like that."

Snake nodded, "Yeah they were getting agitated anyway before I left. I think they knew what was going on." He said softly looking toward the window and then looked back. "So I guess, if I had somebody that cared...nobody hasn't been there unless they wanted something but ...to have somebody there just to be there is new." He said in a trance like statement.

"Dogs do have a sixth sense with emotions," Otacon muttered, his thoughts trailing to Sniper Wolf for a moment before shaking such memories from his mind. He noticed the trancelike tone in Snake's voice and he gave him a small nudge in the ribs with his elbow to snap him out of it. "Well, you've got me around, so that's a start."

The rest of the plane ride was rather uneventful- the landing was a little bumpy, as always. It was drizzling a bit, so Otacon led Snake to his car quickly to avoid getting too wet and he drove back to his apartment. He withdrew his keys from his pocket and opened the door to let Snake in. "It's not much, but it'll do."

Snake looked at Otacon, "It will do...do you mind smoking? I am dying for a cig." He said as he took out a pack and then lit it up before Otacon could finish his request or his response as he took a drag and then let some go into the air as he smiled, "Ah better." He said softly as he looked at him, "So...this is your place?..." He looked around and walked around and nodded as he dragged some more off of his cig, "I like it. Very small and comfortable. Thanks Otacon." He said as he let some more smoke into the air from his cig.

Hal opened his mouth to say 'sure, go ahead', but Snake had already pulled one out and lit up. He smiled a bit and gave a small roll of his eyes. "It looks like I have no choice but to say yes," he replied, his smile turning into a wry smirk. Otacon shut the door and hung his jacket on the coat rack before nodding his head. "It's no problem, really. I'm sure it'll be nice having someone around, anyways. You can take the bed whenever you feel like sleeping, if you want. I don't mind sleeping on the couch." His bedroom was a bit messy but at least the bed was comfortable.

Snake smiled and looked back at him, "I have slept on worse but thanks for the bed." He said happily as he took another drag off his cig and then let it go out in a soft exhale as he looked around his bedroom and smiled, "Not a bad bedroom something I would expect you to be like Otacon. Though again it is just how you are since you are a hacker." He said complimenting Otacon again, "Otacon...we should get some more information on Metal Gear so we know where to head off to in case they either ship it in or build it here in the states. I am here to make sure that humanity doesn't get their hands on something destructive ...we got enough of that in the middle east already." He said as he looked out the window at the buildings that stood higher in Detroit.

"Hmn, why doesn't that surprise me?" He probably could have offered that man a rock to sleep on and he wouldn't object. Otacon sat himself down in front of his desk in the chair that he fell asleep in more often than his own bed. He withdrew one of his laptops and turned it on before going straight back to breaking into one of the hardest files he had ever managed to crack. "I don't get much time to clean up- well, maybe I would if I weren't on the computer so much..." He shifted his gaze over to the soldier and gave a small shake of his head. "You know, you should let yourself take a break for now. Even if I am able to get all the information by the end of the night, there's no way we'd be able to get anywhere close to the Metal Gear site- both of us no longer work for the government and we have no more connections."

Snake sat at the end of the bed and then turned to him getting back up and walking toward him, "Yeah...the colonel ...disappeared after the whole thing with Shadow Moses...and I don't know what we are going to do at the moment...my life is kind of chaotic. First the colonel lies to me and then he gets placed under arrest form the attorney general of the states. I don't know if I could find anybody to trust and I feel that maybe you can be trusted and I think I am right." He said softly as he sat down in a chair near him, "I just ...need to know the info and then slowly try to get a hold of Naomi and the rest of them. I mean...it has only been 4 months right?...what am I kidding...that op and some of the members are jailed...I wonder if ...we can get started again." Snake had been so gun-ho but now he was feeling down due to his loss of connections.

Otacon had forgotten to what extent Snake had been used. After all, he had been kept in the dark and injected with a virus by the people whom he worked the closest with... not to mention that Master Miller turned out to be his ill-doing twin brother all along. No wonder why the soldier had a trust issue. "Well, you don't need them to do this, right? After all, you pretty much were able to do the entire Shadow Moses incident all on your own. All they gave you for the mission was a suit to keep yourself warm and you still have that. The rest was all you," he stated. Hal shifted slightly in his seat before giving the man a playful punch in the shoulder. "Snap out of this sad mode, it's not like you," he replied, grinning a bit in hopes of cheering Dave up a bit. "You can trust me. We can work together."

Snake smiled a little, "Thanks Otacon, you are a true friend. Never thought I would say that after the whole thing on Shadow Moses but then again you didn't ending up betraying me. So Thanks, and yeah I am glad they left me this suit a a little good bye present. I don't think I can ever look the colonel in the face without beating the shit out of him." He said softly as he looked at him some more and nodded, "Yeah I don't need a whole team...I did that whole op on my own and did my objectives despite what the others told me. Yeah we can work together and get to this new metal gear and destroy it before it has chance to threaten what I had done so hard to keep together. No way some big ass machine is going to step on my planet!" He let out a strong chuckle as he gave another strong smirk saying he was back to Otacon

Otacon grinned at the other's sudden change of attitude for the best. "That's the spirit," he encouraged before turning his head to look back at the computer screen. He typed away at his keyboard at a rapid pace, it was a wonder how he was able to hit the keys at such a quick pace. Going on a mission would be good for the both of them; it'd start a new chapter in both of their careers after the disaster that was Shadow Moses. He chewed on the inside of his cheek in concentration before breaking even more of the code within minutes. "Good news, it's in relatively early stages of development. From the looks of this, it won't be finished until at least another two more years. I can't tell who's funding the project- the traffic I'm collecting from this site is both American and Russian but they couldn't be working together. It seems like one is spying heavily on the other."

"Ocolot was talking about the mother land so this could be an indication...", Snake said in a detective way of sense. It was the way he was piecing the last hours of the place before the US government tried to cover up the facility with a nuclear missile. Though luckily the secretary was arrested for corruption. Snake was thankful for cambell coming out on top for that at least but he couldn't forgive the old man for hiding stuff from him. "Well, it will take two years...while we know we should monitor both sides. Since they both are spying on each other they must have some information or dirt on each other. I don't want another government over my head I want to be over theirs.", He said he sat back in his seat, "I guess we are on vacation for two years...Otacon..got any normal clothes for me to wear? I am not going to sit in this suit for two years straight." He said smirking as he said it honestly and took another cig out since he long finished his other and lit up another.
