Rose could hear screaming and begging and then silence. moments later she heard a bang and more shouting this time it was filled with anger instead of fear." you idiot you should never have targeted a vampire who had a human mate now we have a dhampir to deal with a no one to train or contain her" a female voice said and shortly thereafter a male voice sounding annoyed responded.
"how was I supposed to know the male had a mate let alone a human? it's your mess now you deal with the child" Rose started to cry both from fear and hunger it wasn't long before she felt a wrist pressed to her mouth and blood flowed in causing Rose to start to feed before the same female voice spoke once more
"now now little one it's okay Ill tend to you and teach you how to be a good huntress"

Rose tossed and turned in her sleep before jolting awake once more she was having a nightmare and it always seemed to come on the night before a major assignment. Rose brushed her fire-red hair out of her face and looked at herself in the mirror her blue eyes shining in the dark. Rose rubbed her face and then got out of the bed walking to the dresser and tying her hair back into a complex braid. her red locks came down to her waist and often became a pain but she refused to cut it her adoptive mother had always said she looked like her mother but with her fathers' eyes. Rose felt the familiar pain in her stomach that told her she needed to feed. Rose was a rarity in the world a Dhampir which meant she needed to feed around once every three months or so. Rose grabbed her cloak and headed out to the barn so that she could feed. no one there cared for her but they all feared her as well. Rose quickly fed after finding a cow that was in good health and then she headed for the lecture room. Rose was the youngest S Ranked hunter ever as she had trained from the time she could walk having taken that title at the mere age of eight. Rose walked into the room and looked at all the students there before leaning back and listening to the instructor wanting to snort when he spoke on how to fight a vampire as he was wrong on so many levels "please do follow his instructions if you wish to lose your life Vampires don't fight fair when they know they are going to die."

Children ran around in the center of the village playing tag with one another while the adults stood around talking with each other, just waiting for nighttime to fall so that they could start lighting off their fireworks. It was a celebration that night - a young couple had just gotten married and they were going to be celebrating with the entire village that night. A very typical thing within their village. The wedding was during the day with family and friends - then when night came around was when the entire village would celebrate with them. Food, fireworks, dancing, and just having an overall amazing time with everybody. A girl about ten years old with jet black hair and startling blue eyes ran throughout the village with the other children. Her attention was going towards the man that seemed to be calling her name which had her running over towards the man with same matching green eyes and the woman that walked up next to him, her jet black hair pulled up into a tight ponytail. "Raphaelle, can you gather the children in the center so that we can start the fireworks?" the man was questioning the girl, who was smiling and speaking, "Yes, daddy!" With that she was giving them both hugs before she was running off so that she could gather all of the other children.
The night was enjoyed by everybody but just as the night started - eventually it had to come to an end. Everybody was wishing each other all a good night and returning to their homes to rest up and be ready for the day that was to come. But what they hadn't realized was the morning would never come for many of them. The light of day was something that they wouldn't ever see again. Vampires had attacked the village a few hours after everybody had retreated to their homes - and nobody had been prepared for the attack. Yet this was a small village at the base of a mountain - a place that not many people passed through and they kept to themselves - they were a bit oblivious to the dangers of the outside world.
Raphaelle had been asleep in her bed when her older brother was all of a sudden bursting into her room, which had her waking up, yet before she could even say anything he was putting a hand over her mouth and shaking his head, his finger going to his lips in a shushing motion. He was motioning for her to crawl under her bed, and he was soon following after her, the pair of them just hiding. Yet it wasn't long before they heard the screams of their parents, and while Raphaelle wanted to cry out - Alryn wasn't allowing her to make a sound. He kept a hand over his own mouth along with hers, keeping either of them from making a sound at all.
Noises could be heard from downstairs, stuff being knocked over and the screaming - while the screaming lasted anyways. But it wasn't long until it went dead quiet and then they could hear footsteps walking up the stairs, and soon could see unfamiliar boots in the doorway of the bedroom.
"I know you are here.... You can't hide for long." a voice hummed. A rather musical voice, almost intoxicating but there was a terrible sense of danger from the person that was standing in the doorway. But it wasn't long before the person seemed to be leaving. The siblings remained under the bed for a while longer, hoping that they had given it enough time before they ventured out of the room to try and leave the house. But going downstairs... neither of them had been expecting the sight that they came across. Their parents looked as though they had been ripped apart - blood everywhere. Raphaelle had to cover her mouth to stop herself from screaming in horror, tears falling down her cheeks. Neither of them knew that one of the attackers was still in the house, they were clueless until Alryn was being ripped away from his younger sister and a pair of sharp teeth were tearing violently into his neck. The last thing that he said to his sister was to run, before his world went dark and he was forever closing his eyes.
Raphaelle could only watch in horror as this happened, being rooted in spot at the time - paralyzed with fear as she watched her brother's lifeless body drop to the ground before her, and it wasn't long before that man was approaching her and something sharp was sinking into her neck, which had her giving a scream of pain. But...while the pain had been sharp it had been brief, that strange pressure all of a sudden being ripped away and she saw another person there. They gave off the same sense as the man before her... yet there was something a bit calmer about it. The last thing that she heard the newcomer saying was that they needed to be going - that hunters were close - before her world when dark and she was passing out, her hand pressed tightly to her still bleeding neck.

Nineteen year old Raphaelle was waking with a start as the memory replayed in her head.... memory more like a nightmare. And one of the few memories that she had of her childhood. Hunters had shown up at the village that same night, and Raphaelle had been the only one that they had found alive but just barely. She had been taken back to the hunter's society to receive treatment - although many had thought that she wouldn't awaken. For almost two years Raphaelle had been in a coma - but during those two years there had been an S-Rank huntress by the name of Chrissanth that had stayed at her side; holding her hand, speaking to her, even in that comatose state she had been aware that there was somebody there. When she did finally wake up, two years later, Raphaelle entered a catatonic state - not reacting or really responding to anybody or anything around her - except when Chrissanth would speak to her. It was a familiar voice, a familiar prescence, and this is what helped draw her out of that catatonic state - but it still took almost a year.
When she turned fourteen, and only after Chrissanth felt that she was better, she was brought before the hunters so that she could tell her story about what had happened that day. But the details had been vague - and this is when it was discovered that she was suffering from amnesia - she had no memory of her childhood at all other than what she knew from that dream. Her name was Raphaelle, she had lived in a small village at the base of a mountain, she seemingly had a good relationship with her parents, and she had once had an older brother named Alryn. But other than that she didn't recall anything - the actual names of her parents, the location of where she had been born, how much older her brother was. At first the society had wanted to send her away - stating that at fourteen she was far too old to be able to train to be a hunter - as all of the other hunters within the society started at the young age of ten - if they were recruited from outside of the society, or younger if they were the children of former or current hunters. Yet it had been Chrissanth who stepped up and vouched for Raphaelle, taking over as being her teacher and her mentor.

Raphaelle had started late in her training as a huntress, she had risen far above what everybody thought she would. She quickly gained ranks within the hunter society, and soon enough found herself becoming one of the rare S-Rank huntresses at the age of seventeen, having only taken three years to rise up in the ranks - yet it helped that she had been under the teachings of Chrissanth - who had been one of the top huntresses. Although as a year ago she had ended up passing away, she had been on a hunt and ended up getting herself killed while protecting some innocents. The five innocents that she had been protecting had managed to all escape with minimal injuries, and were able to continue on with their lives thanks to Chrissanth. She was pulling her black hair up into a tight ponytail after getting dressed in her usual black corset top, skinny jeans, and black combat boots then she was leaving her room so that she could head to the training grounds, her hair swishing behind her as she walked. No she knew why she had had that nightmare. This was the day that it had happened nine years ago - the day when the attack had happened and her life had forever been changed. The young woman still had the scar on her neck from the vampire biting her. She was walking into the training room just as the instructor was telling them how to kill a vampire - more like giving them terrible advice on how to get killed by the vampires in the end.

Some of the trainees did find themselves turning their attention towards the two woman that were in the room - one of them being Rose, whom a lot of them were actually use to seeing around the place. Although it was a different story with Raphaelle - as the young woman had typically isolated herself away from everybody. She had undergone a lot of training with Chrissanth outside of the prying eyes of everybody else, and even after becoming an S-Rank huntress, she had tended to just keep to herself. It was pretty rare that people ever actually saw her - typically she was away doing solo missions or she was training on her own. But now she was just needing a distraction, to break herself out of the terrible memory that she felt like she was locked in.

Rose walked to her and greeted her the way she had been taught by Chrissanth when she was younger "Good to see you my sister" while the girls had no blood relation to each other as they were the only S-Ranked hunters around at this point they were like family and Rose would kill to keep her sister safe. Rose then looked back to the instructor "If you're not gonna teach them right then you need to retire and find somewhere else to be as I would hate to see these young hunters die because you taught them wrong. Rose stood proud she knew her rank and she had earned it with blood, sweat, and tears literally on all three fronts

Raphaelle was just looking towards the female but was greeting her how she had been taught, although she didn't say much at all. Not any shock to anybody at all, she wasn't much of a talker at all. There were some people who thought she was mute.... which was partially true to an extent. She definitely suffered from selective mutism from what had happened, and that being the only thing she really remembered. It had been a very traumatic experience - and even after nine years she still had problems with trying to cope with what had happened. She was still working on coming to terms with the fact that her parents were dead, her brother was dead.... that everybody in her village in general was dead. She had been the only survivor of that night - and she was still working on coming to terms with that fact. And the truth was that there was a chance that she would never come to terms with that. Raphaelle was just looking over towards the man for a moment as he was scoffing that he was teaching them properly, and that he had been doing it far longer than her. "Vampires aren't that much stronger than a human." the man was scoffing after a moment in time. This had Raphaelle looking at him before she questioned, her voice very soft almost musical "Can an average human rip a person apart without breaking much of a threat? A single vampire ripped my parents apart when I was ten years old - there was blood and guts everywhere in that room. And my father wasn't a small man either - nor was he weak."

Rose moved fast going from next to Raphaelle to behind the teacher with her blade drawn "They are also faster and see better than humans by teaching them wrong you are putting them at risk" Rose then moved from the male and returned to Raphaelle and spoke softly "should we show them what a fight between and vampire and a hunter of our caliber would look like" Rose knew she might not get a verbal answer but if she agreed Rose would take the role of a vampire rather the subject her to having to play that part

Raphaelle was just looking at the instructor for a brief moment in time before she was looking towards Rose when she was asking her question about showing them a fight between a vampire and a hunter of their caliber. This had her giving a nod at that point in time - no she could definitely do that. At least hopefully she could do that anyways. Last year on this day she had been training with others and had ended up freezing up severely.

Rose shifted so no one could see and she spoke "Ill keep my fangs hidden so as to not trigger anything or try not too" Rose knew Raphaelle knew what she was as she had told her so that if he fangs came out they didn't scare her. Rose then moved and had them clear the ring so that the two of them could spar and show the kids just how out of touch the teacher was. while this would probably get them lectured there were fewer and fewer hunters around and they needed to conserve their numbers

Raphaelle was just giving a nod of her head and once the ring was cleared Raphaelle was just taking her stance, although she was taking on the stance that the instructor had told the trainees to always take when dealing with vampires. One that would supposedly allow them to move more quickly when a vampire was moving to attack them. "Let me show you how ineffective the stance you were taught is. Rose is the vampire that is going to attack me. This stance... supposedly will allow you to quickly react to a vampire attack no matter what direction they come from." she was speaking before she was looking towards Rose and nodding to let her know that she was ready for her to make her move. No she knew that with the explanation she had given that Rose would get that it was more of a demonstration at that point in time than an actual spar. But this was typically how they did it when they were taking over teaching, which wasn't the first time they had needed to do that, they started with showing them the incorrect way and why it was incorrect before showing them a few other stances that would be more correct than not - allowing them to move more swiftly and be able to more effectively protect themselves.

The first time Rose had been able to get Raphaelle easily the rest of the time it was easy to see that the different stances were much more effective in avoiding getting grabbed by a vampire. the two then agreed to a small spar to show the students how skilled S-Ranked hunters fought and trained before heading off as they had been summoned to the elder's council as they each had an assignment. Rose walked with Raphaelle to the chamber muttering under her breath "I don't mind the solo missions but i would like to be able to work with a partner every now and then"

Raphaelle demonstrated how difficult it actually was to try and avoid getting grabbed by a vampire with the stance that the instructor was teaching them. After that she was showing them a couple of other stances that they could try using - although these stances were a little more dependent on what they were using for weapons as well. Were they dual sword, single sword, one of the rare few other weapon users? But any of them could easily be used if they learned how to properly, and it would benefit them to learn them all - this way if the vampires learned how to get around one of them or manages to catch them off guard they could recover. The spar went on for a while although it wasn't long before they were being summoned to the council, which wasn't something that Raphaelle was excited about at all. "I don't want to deal with vampires today...." she spoke although her tone was more hollow. No Rose would understand.

"i don't blame you I woke up from a nightmare" Rose walked into the room her hand resting on her dual swords. sitting in the room were two of the six elders and when the girls entered they were handed folders regarding their next mission "you two will be working together this time around as you will be going after the Vampire princes" Rose looked at them both before speaking "but we have never targeted the royal family before is there a reason for it this time"

Raphaelle was entering the room and was just looking at the council as they were stating that they were going to be going after the vampire princes. That was strange that they were targeting royalty. This was the first time that they had ever been tasked with targeting the royal family.... honestly she had thought that the council and the royal family had been allies of sorts. Especially since the royals tended to help keep tabs on the rouge vampires, typically anyways but not all the time. A frown was deepening on her lip before she spoke, "I agree with Rose."

the elders simply told them both to do as assigned and not question them. this had Rose frowning and then nodding her head a gentle hand on Raphaelle's arm to keep her from speaking out while silently telling her they would talk about it after they left the room. Rose found it odd that they would target the royal family but there was little use in arguing with them at that time. Rose figured the two of them could come up with a plan

Oh no Raphaelle definitely wanted to speak out against them with this ridiculous assignment that they had been given, and ask all of the questions but Rose prevented from her from doing that, annoying as it was. Yet it was perhaps best that she didn't ask. But she had also been trained by Chrissanth, who wasn't somebody that would just settle for not getting all of the deals about stuff. With that she was just looking towards the council before she spoke, "I suggest you get going on gathering more information about these vampire princes than this measly information that you've given us." With that she was slapping the lackluster folder down onto the table to reveal that there was little to nothing at all. Her green eyes were just locking onto the before she spoke, "Maybe others won't question but... I'm not others. I was taken in by Chrissanth, I was trained by her. I learned from her. And if there was one thing she would do... is question when there is a heavy lack of information. I'm not going to get myself killed just because you don't want to give all of the details and information."

Rose nodded "I agree we will return tomorrow for more information today we both rest" Rose then tugged her friend out before things got out of hand "let us go get lunch we can talk privately there" Rose had a plan and she hoped that Raphaelle would agree to it and then they would get to work. Rose figured the would do the work expected but if they found out that they were being set up then the two would turn and tell the princes everything but only if the other agreed as well as this would keep them both safe and sound

Raphaelle was just turning and following after Rose, although soon enough after leaving the room she just found herself leaning against the wall and just putting her head in her hands. No no no... this was the worst time for the panic to set in. She wasn't even sure what had set it off at that point in time, perhaps it was this whole walking in without any information. It was similiar to what had happened - they hadn't know. They hadn't gotten any warning... her village had been cluelessly unaware of everything; and hadn't had any way to protect themselves.

Rose walked to her and spoke softly "breath we wont be going in blind I promise I have ways to get information if they won't give us what we need and I have a plan to give us both a way out if we need it" Rose could tell she was starting to panic and she needed to stop the panic before it got too bad and they lost hours waiting for her to calm down

Raphaelle was just giving a nod of her head but while she seemed to be calming down some, she also seemed to still be panicking. She was pushing away from the wall after a moment in time and just walking away, more forcing herself to push through it at that point in time. She was just breathing at that point in time, just trying to focus on something else. Anything else.

Rose guided her to her car and once they were both settled she headed to a near by restaurant so they could eat and talk in peace. during the drive, Rose called her contact and spoke to them about getting the information. after a few minutes, Rose was assured they would have it to her before nightfall and it would be complete. after about thirty minutes Rose pulled in to the parking lot and looked at Raphaelle "they have really good hot pot here and the owners know me so we will get in before opening so we do not have to worry about being spotted or over heard"

Raphaelle just sat quietly in the car, merely gazing out the window at that point in time - watching as everything seemed to go flying past them. Yes she could hear what Rose was saying but she seemed to be pretty non-responsive to what was being said other than nodding. Soon enough they were pulling into a parking lot and she was climbing out of the car so that they could head inside. Her eyes just took in the building before her as she walked towards the doors.

Rose walked with her to the door and they were greeted by an older woman who told Rose her table was ready and they would bring out food shortly. Rose then showed Raphaelle where the table was and sat down before looking at her "we will have the information we need by night fall but I want to make a suggestion if your willing to hear me out on it"

Raphaelle was just walking over to the table and was sitting down before she was looking towards Rose as she was commenting that she was wanting to make a suggestion. This had her giving a nod of her head. No she would listen to suggestions without any issue at all, whether or not she would go with the suggestion was all dependent on what was said.

"I think we should do the assignment but we watch the men first we see if what they are saying is true if it is we take them out like any other job but if not we confirm with each other and if in agreement we take what we are given by the elders and tell the Princes' of what we were ordered to do but during out time watching them we find escape routes just incase we need to leave and fear that we will be stopped. we will also pick a meeting place to meet up when it is all done" Rose wanted to make sure they were both safe and had a way out so that neither of them got caught

Raphaelle was just looking towards her for a moment in time before she was commenting, "I planned on just watching at first. I do need to confess something. Before Chrissanth passed away.... She passed on her title to me but she kept it a secret. She didn't want the council to know. And she told me to always be wary of them, that they seemed to be acting stranger and stranger lately."

"I knew she told me what she was gonna do her and my mom were more then close" Rose nodded her head "I agree with you though they have been acting weird lately". Rose leaned back when food and lemonade was brought to them so that they could eat " but what do you think of the rest of my plan"
