Amaya felt an uneasiness about divulging in such a topic, but knew it could be the only way to get Sasuke to listen to her.
“I didn’t join the CCG by choice- I was bought as an infant and raised there with the sole purpose to be a trained killer. I was raised with other children at a facility until we were old enough to fight… It was the only thing I knew.” She looked uncomfortable as she shared, but continued on. “I stayed with them for years, killing ghouls was just a part of life for me, like eating or sleeping- I didn’t even see it as wrong.” She said, sounding disgusted with herself.
“That all obviously changed- I woke up. I realized I was killing other people, who had lives and families of their own. I couldn’t keep doing it anymore, so I left. I… had to kill my partner just to escape- or at least I thought I had escaped, but it turns out I was being watched the whole time.” She took a short pause. “I was on my own for a while, trying to make a living without killing, and that’s when I met you at university. I didn’t want to kill anymore, I didn’t want to be a weapon that hurt people and destroyed families- my feelings for you were genuine then, just how they’re genuine now.. I never lied about that once.”
