SAINTS (1x1 w/DarkMukip)

Still Yukimura didn’t make contact with her, only keeping a distance as he struggled with wether or not he should try to recruit her. She seemed promising, but what if she was only going to join them to turn traitor?

There was one day he was following her around that he noticed she wasn't making her usual patrol. She avoided her usual route and went an opposite way, which seemed a little odd to Yukimura.

Yukimura was curious as to why she was suddenly deviating from her usual route, but maybe she was going to meet up with her partner finally? He was curious, following quietly behind with his hands in his pockets.

She didn't stop moving until she reached the bridge. It was high and stood over a rather shallow drainage. She set her briefcase aside and reached to remove her shoes before setting them neatly next to her case.

Yukimura stopped, feeling like ice water had just been dumped down his back followed by hot coals. She watched her with his mouth open slightly, knowing exactly what she was going to do, but couldn’t fully believe it. “Hey… Wait, what are you doing..?” He muttered, taking a small step forward. No one was on the bridge now but her, it getting late now.

She didn't really hear him, pulling off her suit jacket and folding it up with her shoes before she climbed over the railing. She was shaking and he could see quite clearly that she was scared as tears fell down her face. Maybe she didn't notice him or simply didn't care that he was there as she wobbled precariously.

Yukimura felt his legs trudge forward numbly, his body felt heavy, as despite him having seen people die, he had never seen them take their own life. His mouth opened to call out to her again, but nothing came out, his eyes fixed on her unable to look away. He had to call out, he had to reach her- he had to stop her. In that moment, he didn’t care that she was an investigator, he couldn’t just let her end her life.

She squeezed her eyes shut and let out a weak whimper before she let herself fall forward, releasing her hand from the beam and letting herself drop.

Yukimura’s kakugan activated out of instinct when adrenaline flooded his body, shooting forward as fast as he could and plunging over the edge of the bridge himself without hesitation. Scarlet red erupted from his back as his Kagune activated, catching up with Akihime quickly and grabbing her tightly in his arms. He had only seconds before he hit the ground, using it to flip the two of them so he landed on his feet, pain flaring in his ankles as he kept Akihime from hitting the ground. He wobbled before falling backward onto his rear, using one arm to brace himself against the ground, the other still wrapped tightly around Akihime.

She gasped loudly in alarm and looked up at him, eyes wide and glittering with tears as she just stared at him. "Wh...Wha...?" She couldn't really comprehend her own words for a moment, face flushing with shame and awe, "Wh-Why did you...?"

Yukimura winced and groaned from the pain in his legs before turning his attention to Akihime. “Are you crazy..?!” He scolded, Akihime on top of him in his lap, but he didn’t shove her off. “You could’ve died!” He knew what she had tried to do, he wasn’t a fool, he knew she had tried to take her own life; even still he had to try. “Are you hurt anywhere?”

Her mouth fell open, lips quivering as some stray tears fell down her cheeks, "N...No...I'm alright..." She muttered weakly, "B...But...wh-why...? I-I...I wanted to..." She was shaking against him, unable to finish her sentence.

Yukimura stared at her in shock, feeling like he had maybe been too harsh with her. He furrowed his brows and looked away briefly, making a face before looking back to her. “I-It’s fine… b-but we should get you looked at, take you somewhere to recover for a while!” He suggested, maybe a hospital? She hadn’t tried to kill him yet, but she didn’t have her quinque anyway, so he doubted he was in danger.

Not like she was going to kill him anyway, every fight she got into, she was a pacifist about. She nodded numbly, not wanting to argue with him. How could she?

Yukimura nodded and adjusted his grip on her as he hopped back up to his feet easily with the help of his Kagune. His ankles ached a little, but the pain would subside soon, and he set off back up to the bridge overhead. Using one of his many tails he snagged her things before setting off quickly. Would it be smart to take her to a hospital? She wasn’t hurt, but she did need to go somewhere safe. He felt guilty for thinking of himself in the moment, but both himself and everyone at home would be safer if she were to calm down where he could watch her. Making up his mind he set course for home, holding her firmly to his chest.

She held onto him tight, blushing as she hid her face in hos chest. Why was a ghoul helping her? Let alone a ghoul she didn't know. Mitsunari would kill her for sure.

Yukimura took her far into the city, to a large building that seemed abandon, but when he entered there were lights on and heating. It looked rather clean as he walked down the hall and to an empty room where he turned the lights on and brought her to the bed. The room was small and pretty bare- just a bed, desk and chair, and a tall wardrobe. He set her down carefully, putting her things on the desk. “Here should be quiet enough..”

Yukimura’s Kagune and kakugan slowly vanished, his red and black eyes returning to his normal brown ones. He offered a soft smile, rubbing his neck. “I couldn’t just let you die.” He said.

She frowned at that and looked down at her lap, "You should have..." She muttered, "But...thank you... really...anyone else probably would have just let me jump..."

Yukimura pulled out the desk chair and sat down in it facing Akihime. “Talking like that does no good.” He said, voice firm but soft. “And truthfully.. I need your help.” He was nervous; he was taking a huge risk asking an investigator he knew for all of five minutes for such a thing, but he had little options, and would take what he could get.

Megohime was miserable while off work on medical leave, having to use crutches to get around, but her leg was healing quickly. She’d be in a cast for a few more weeks at least, so for the time being she did work from her computer at home, spending her time at night drinking.

"My help?" Akihime repeated, "Did you...I'm sorry, this sounds rude, especially since you saved me...but did you hit your head on the way down?"

Masamune kept a close eye on her despite her trying to kill him last time. He couldn't help it, though, he had caught feelings for her.

Yukimura let out a laugh, trying not to take offense to the question since if held so much validity. “I know that this is highly unusual, a ghoul asking a ghoul investigator for help; you must find it suspicious.” His expression grew serious again, almost sad. “But I speak honestly; I am part of a group that seeks to leave peacefully alongside humans. We don’t kill to get our food, and already we cohabitate with humans here- but this can only go so far left to our own devices.”

Megohime was three beers deep, working on her fourth as she finished up the last of the paperwork for the day Kojurou had sent her, face flush. She sighed heavily and turned off her computer, using a crutch to get to bed, holding a beer in the other hand.

"What kind of help could I offer?" She asked, watching him. She didn't seem like she thought ill of the proposal, at least not yet.

"That can't be good for you..." He muttered as he watched her stumble.

“We just want to live peacefully, we want to do more than just survive. For starters marking out where patrols will be taking place, knowing where traps will be laid, anything of that nature would be the most helpful to ensure our people don’t get caught up while outside of the safe house.” Yukimura explained.

Megohime sat on the bed and lay her crutch on the ground, taking a long drink of her beer before laying back on the bed, face flushed.
