SAINTS (1x1 w/DarkMukip)

Yukimura lowered his gaze, looking ashamed. “I agreed to do as Matsunaga says..” He said softly.

“Don’t say that..!” Yukimura lowered his head even more, resting his forehead against the side of the bed. “You’re worth any price to me, no matter how high!”

"I don't want you dying because of me...!" She whimpered, fighting fresh tears, "My life isn't worth being traded for yours...! You have people who need you...! Who look up to you...! I'm nobody...!"

He was quiet for a long while, only able to see his shoulders as they sagged a bit. “Do you.. not need me..? Are you not part of my family anymore..?” He asked, voice cracking a bit.

She immediately felt bad, "N...No...No, Yukimura, that isn't what I meant...of course I am, I just...I feel like there are people who need you that matter more..."

“But you do matter… You matter to me, isn’t that enough..?” If he wasn’t needed by Akihime, if she didn’t want him or his help, what was the point of anything?

She pulled her hand away to cup his cheek gently, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you...just please be safe.." She told him, "I love you so much.."

“I love you too.. that’s why I’m doing this… it’s all for you..” Yukimura was glad she wasn’t angry with him, glad she didn’t admonish him- but part of him worried that she would.

He nodded, moving to sit on the side of her bed, holding her hand carefully once more. He had to focus his thoughts, work hard to drown out his voice of hunger.

Yukimura shook his head. “I can eat later…” He found it harder to focus when the topic moved onto food, but he managed to push through.

With the weeks going by, there was no denying Megohime’s death. The weapon found at the scene along with the pool of blood both belonged to Megohime, and without her return or anything more of her showing up- it was almost impossible to deny it.
She was killed, and Masamune was her killer.
The day her headstone was erected and a service was held for her funeral, it was raining. Not many people showed- she had few friends among the CCG, and no family that she spoke of. There was no need to bury anything, an empty coffin was wasteful, and no part of her was ever returned.

Kojurou stood under the familiar cold as the rain moved over his body, holding yet another funerary photo in his hands as he stood respectfully before Megohime's marker. What kind of investigator was he? Losing Jin, the love of his life, and now Megohime? Why was he so weak? Was he not enough to protect people he cared for? His eyes were sad and distant as he read the characters etched into the stone, finding it supremely unfair how cruel this world really was.

The few remaining investigators that had been at the funeral did their best to console Kojurou, but knew he would need time more than anything.
“Please do take care of yourself, Katakura-sosakan… and get out of this rain soon.” With one last bit of kind words, he departed with his umbrella, leaving Kojurou as the last remaining one at Megohime’s gravesite. The rain dripped down on him for quite a while before he was shielded from the rain as someone stood beside him, close enough to share the large umbrella they were using. It was a woman in all black, wearing a black mourning veil over her face, but there was an odd familiarity to her presence.

Kojurou didn't really pay her any mind, perhaps she wanted to give him company while he stood before Megohime's grave. He didn't even notice the smell of blood nearby, the rain masking it rather well.

“You really shouldn’t neglect yourself just because your partner kicked it, you know.” She finally spoke up, the woman studying the headstone as well, her voice painfully familiar. “I doubt she’d be happy with that.”

Kojurou felt needles move down his back, looking over at the woman who stood beside him. He didn't speak a word for the longest time, almost too afraid to.

She turned her head to look at him, red eyes staring back at him, a soft frown on her face. It was undoubtedly Megohime- but how?
“You look tired, Kojurou.” She said softly.

"H-How...?" He barely managed that as he stared at her, "Th-There were photos.."
"You doves are so delightfully stupid." Kojurou looked, horrified and angry to see Masamune draped over Megohime's marker, "Believe anything put in front of you and say it's gospel."

“Masamune didn’t kill me. He wasn’t even the one to hurt me. He saved me.” She said softly. “The ones to attack me were my own fellow CCG members. Cut my throat like I was just another ghoul.” She looked away from her headstone and back to Kojurou. “That isn’t all though- those two men that showed up dead on the steps- they were taking advantage of me.” She gripped the umbrella handle tightly. “Wouldn’t let me say no anymore. They deserved what they got.”

"He killed two members of the CCG. Two fellow investigators." Kojurou said.
"Didn't you hear anything she just said?" Masamune hissed, "They were raping her under your own fucking nose and none of you goddamn clowns wanted to realize it."
