from the edge (1x1 w/DarkMudkip)

Hakaku didn't bother stopping for any rest or food or drink, they had to keep going to make sure no one saw her or stopped them to ask questions.

She did her best to keep up despite not wanting to go with him, but the beating seemed to calm her headstrong attitude quite a bit. She found it difficult to hike along the path, only wearing tabi on her feet. She would lag every now and again, and it was clear that she was tiring out quickly, but if she had any complaints, she didn’t try to voice them.

She made a weak noise against the cloth, doing her best to keep up with him, but a sharp stone to the foot brought her stumbling by to her knees. She let out a muffled cry as the fall jarred her wounds, making pain shoot through her.

She winced as she forced herself back to her feet, not meeting his gave, tears in her eyes as she steadied herself. Was he worried about bears or wolves? She wasn’t sure if they were in these parts- wherever they were -but surely I’d they made a camp fire they would be safe?

He kept walking, even as the sun set, he didn't stop for anything. He held a lantern in his free hand as he tugged her along and kept his pace.

They had been walking for hours, and Kaguya was covered in sweat now, stomach rumbling as she did her best to follow him in the dark. She was tired and hungry, her thirst back. Did he intend to walk through the night? She felt as though she would pass out on her feet, her breathing heavy against the gag, stumbling more frequently now.

She felt her face flush in embarrassment, technically yes, she was never allowed outside, so she had never traveled so far on her own before. He felt the rope growing taught as she lagged behind again, stopping fully and staying where she was, looking at Hakaku with a look of pure shame.

He stopped and looked back with a scowl, "Fuck, I was making a jab, I didn't think I was right." He huffed before moving toward her, "I can't carry you, so you're going to have to tough it out."

She took a small step back, face growing even more red as she tried to speak, but her words were muffled.

Kaguya was so embarrassed she hadn’t even considered that he might’ve been coming closer to remove her gag. She took a step closer to him, her urgent business being that she needed to badly go to the bathroom.

She nodded, just wanting him to take it off so she could speak. Once the gag was untied and loosened, she spoke aloud. “I need… to go to the bathroom..” She said, humiliated to have to request such a thing, but she felt if she didn’t go sooner rather than later, she might not be the one making that choice willingly.

She was grateful he even let her do such a thing, but it was even more humiliating to have to relieve herself with him so close by. She moved behind the bushes, looking to Hakaku, face entirely red. “Don’t watch..” She fidgeted with her susoyoke. “O-Or listen..!”

Kaguya stared for a moment more to make sure he wouldn’t look before squatting to relieve herself. She couldn’t get over the face that Hakaku was so close, trying to swallow the lump in her throat. Once she was done, she stood and moved carefully back to the Slayer, not trying to run while he had his back turned, she could barely see anything anyway.

She nodded, not meeting his gaze, heart still pounding in her ears; surely he had tuned her out, right? He didn’t listen to her go to the bathroom, did he?
A mass shot out from behind Kaguya in the trees, slamming hard into Hakaku and sending him hard away from Kaguya.

He grunted when he hit the ground, struggling with the demon on top of him. He swung his fist hard and clocked it, sending it off him and giving him time to stand and retrieve his blade. "Get down, stay hidden!" He yelled at Kaguya.

With the lantern gone, Kaguya was practically blind, trying to obey the best she could. She got down in the bushes again, trying to crawl away from the fight, but found she had crawled right into another pair of legs.
The other demon was on Hakaku again- no, now it was two. The two demons laughed at him, one having a single horn protruding from its head and the other having three. “Didn’t think we’d actually catch a slayer off guard~” One sneered.
“Your kind usually knows better than to be out this late into the night~” The other taunted.

He scoffed gently and unsheathed his blade, brandishing it before him.
"Well, now you're really in for it." He said, "I work best around this time of night."
"Where are you going, little one~?" The demon over Kaguya asked.
