The Destruction of the USS Odyssy NCC-7183 in 2370 marked the beginning of the Dominion Cold War, and the construction of the sovereign class starship would begin later that same year, during the dominion war only four Sovergn class ships had been produced. But after the dominion war, an additional twelve have been constructed with haste.

By the end of the dominion war, more ships had come off the line than capable officers to command them. The year is 2380 and the dominion war ended five years ago with death tolls in the untold millions. The federation is still recovering from its deep wounds, and tensions with the Romulan Star Empire are at an all-time high after the assassination of the Romulan High Council and a clone version of Captain Jean-Luc Picard named Shinzon attempted to commit a genocide of earth.

The new Odyssey - B is one of the twelve new sovereigns constructed for the Federation fleet. It's named legacy hoping to help guide the federation out of the dark ages of war and into something new and hopeful. However in it's hasty construction the Odyssey ended up just a touch... wrong. The lights flicker whenever the phasers fire, the shields are stuck at 98%, and the tables seem to vibrate whenever the ship reaches warp nine causing objects to fall over.

Rather than mothball one of the sixteen most expensive ships in the federation armada they decided to hand it to a crew fresh off the academy so that any defects could be written off as user error.

The ship is state of the art, but quirky, the crew is young and inexperienced, and yet somehow they will go forward. The Odyssey is about to leave the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards on its maiden voyage, all it needs is a crew.



The TL;DR of this is that I am looking to launch a Star Trek group RP. Set just after the movie insurrection, but following our own timeline and ship. I will get up character sheets a little later, but all characters will be 18+ as the crew is meant to be fresh out of the academy. I'm looking to get together a bridge crew, I would play as the captain, and that means we need:

Captain - (Captain Nellis Keoh) east
1st officer (Lt Commander Alexander Stephens) - Captain_Bond
2nd officer -
chief Tactical Officer -
chief medical officer (lt commander) -
chief science officer (Luitenant T'Vara) - Silverbird
-> Helmsman -
Acting Chief Engineer (P'rmess) - ChrisGabriel

If this continues to expand and go forward as I hope it will we will open up into more ranks and larger character bases than what I have currently posted.

I've been watching a lot of lower decks lately, and have been mulling over ideas for a star trek rp for a long time, so I hope this goes well and catches a lot of people's interest.

Oh, and the Enterprise with all the civilians and families aboard was the Enterprise-D...a Galaxy-class starship. So you guys seem to have the right idea of there being an Enterprise like that, and it being like the Odyssey from DS9 2x26 "The Jem'Hadar", you just have the wrong class and all. Far as I could tell from the TNG movies, everyone on the Enterprise-E was Starfleet, and the crew complement was smaller.
 
If I'm not mistaken, the initial post notes this Odyssey (referenced as Odyssey-B) was named for that Odyssey.

Any ETA on the character thread?

Thank you so much for the posted MSD I was trying really hard yesterday to find a break down of the ship that I could read, and for some reason, all of them had text that was impossible to read.

Yes, the original USS Odyssey under captain Keoh was a galaxy-class vessel destroyed in the season 2 finally of Deep Space 9. You may want to note the naming convention of our ship The Odyssey NCC- 71382 B, following the naming conventions of many other federation legacy ships.

Star Trek Iliade character profiles I finally got us a character thread! sorry for the long wait, i know I'm probably going to get on everyone's nerves with how slow i am.
 
Yeah, that's my bad. I thought you'd mistook the original Odyssey for a Galaxy-class ship. I've noticed the position of Second Officer is on the list...what about First Officer? For example, Data was the Enterprise-D's second officer, Riker was its first.
 
that would be my fault, I forgot that there was a number between 0 and 2, I am bad at math.

We have all seen the man's man kirk style captain or the hard ass captains like Janeway and Sisko, the dignified Picard. Here's Nellis Keoh he has none of that, he is a fresh faced baby on a cursed ship, with none of the experience to handle anything the cruel and uncaring galaxy can bring at him and his crew!
 
Welp, time to bring out my scarily calm tactical officer!

"Captain Nellis, it seems we've been surrounded."

"Dear God..."

"Agreed. It'll be quite the massacre. Their formation is frankly horrendous. I can name at least ten things wrong with it and that's the short version."
 
Is it wrong of me to grind a character up to level 20 in Star Trek Online just to get Commander rank pips for screenshots? Fortunately, the interiors of the ships don't change much ... you can't get Sovereigns until hitting Rear Admiral!

Anyhow, I think Zasha is a good choice for Captain Keoh. They appear to have offsetting experience. He's more fluffy and she's more pragmatic.
 
If you're already 60+ you can just visit the tailor in ESD and change them back. But our RP isn't in 2409, is it?

Oh, and since Ahlanna hasn't said "Oh, right, I don't wanna be second officer, I wanna be first, why are you so bad at math East, call me number one like a good subby" I hereby submit my candidacy for First Officer of the USS Odyssey-B.
 
Well, I don't have any level 60 characters. And my highest level one is a Romulan anyhow :D

But I did try to get as close as I could to the 2380s uniform design without having Lobi Crystals to buy, you know, the "2380" uniform. Maybe I'll work on that next.

Sorry, I was working on it for awhile, I just had to wait for the captain to make sure she was compatible. Like if he was a stickler for the regs, that could have been a problem.
 
I think Chris' post said she wasn't Chief Engineer. Which on a wonky ship seems pretty important.

There's also operations officer (which could be the second officer, I'd think).

Plus I don't think anyone has claimed science officer ... it was discussed, I believe, but not locked down.

If LeaT's android is one of the above instead of helm, we still need a Conn officer.

Depending on the mission, there may be a Diplomatic/First Contact specialist that would get a lot of 'screen time'.

We do have Silverbird's Vulcan that needs a spot too, I think.
