Kakure

As she was scooped up, the girl trembled in pain and she gasped as she gripped his shirt even tighter. Everything that happened seemed to just cause more and more pain. She slowly opened her eyes to look up at him as he carried her over to the table, her vision a little blurry. As she was set down, she yelped in pain and trembled again. Professor Oak rushed around, pressing buttons on the scanner that was next to the table she was on and checking her over. "I... I don't know." he said softly, almost helplessly as he began checking all of Jewels vitals and her breathing. "There's nothing that I can find that's wrong that would cause this." Hearing a beeping on one of the scanners, he rushed over and looked up at the screen, a confused look passing over his face. "This makes no sense. Her genes are completely hectic." Looking over at Seth, Oak shook his head with a sigh. "I'll need to keep her for closer observations. I need her close in case anything happens."

Seth listened, not comprehending everything Oak said. Was it that the machine, the devolver, was really devolving her maybe? That made no sense though, nothing should be capable of turning back time. The thing that made him feel even more helpless, was the fact that Oak would need to keep her. How could he travel without her? He had gotten used to traveling around with her. "But Professor.." he wanted to object, but as he looked at her on the tab;e he knew that it was for the best. "W..when am I to go?" he asked, hoping maybe the mission wasn't so urgent he could not wait for her to recover.

Oak reached out and brushed the girls hair back from her face as she groaned. He had heard the tone of protest in the young mans voice when he started speaking and he understood. When one becomes attached to a pokemon or a pokegirl, it's hard to leave them behind. At his question, the professor shook his head with a sigh. "This evening... Tomorrow at the latest." he said softly. "I'm sorry Seth. But I will figure out what's wrong. I give you my word. I'll take good care of her and have her back at your side as soon as possible and you can call up when ever you want. But in the mean time, I want you to take one of my pokegirls in her place for now."

Once more the urge to protest and yell arose in him, and once again he quenched the fire that burned in his chest. Seth knew if Oak wouldn't let him wait, then this errand must have been important, though he wondered if it would only be a wild goose chase. He looked at Jewel, and he felt useless again. At the old mans final note he looked up, wanting to argue that the professor would even suggest another partner for him. "Who did you have in mind?" he asked. He guessed he might already know the pokegirl, after all he had almost grown up with many of them.

Turning, Oak moved over to one of the computers and typed something in and a moment later a pokeball appeared. "She's rather new but very well behaved. She's a plusie and her name is Elle." he said and picked up the red and white ball. Walking over to the table, he held the ball out to Seth. As if knowing he was going to some how reject the offer, Jewel reached up and took his hand in hers. "T-take her Seth." she murmured. "I want you safe."

Any form of rebellion that had been brewing in his mind was quickly dispelled as Jewel spoke. He nodded gently, if she wanted him to then he would. He took the ball from Oak, finding it to be a rather strange sensation. He had never put Jewel into a pokeball except for the two times where she was injured. Now having another pokegirl in his palm made him feel alien and akward. "Take care of her professor," he told Oak, "And get better alright," he told her softly, trying to manage a smile before he went to get packed. He would leave that night, he couldn;t keep himself looking at her in that state.

The professor nodded with a small smile after placing the ball into the young mans hand. "I'll do my best." he promised before looking down at Jewel. She was gazing up at Seth with sad eyes. She hated the thought of being apart from him for so long but she knew it was going to be for the best. After all, she was of no use to him sick and she would never forgive herself if she failed to protect him. When he told her to get better, she smiled slightly. "I'll... do my best." she murmured before lifting his hand to her face and lightly nuzzling his wrist before he left to get packed. "I will miss him... professor." she whispered and looked up at the older man and he nodded. "As will I dear. Now, lets focus on getting you better. The sooner you have a clean bill of health, the sooner you can get back to his side."

Seth had packed that evening. He'd kept the pokeball th professor had given him on the desk in his room. He felt a pain in his heart, leaving Jewel would be the hardest part of this little excursion. He went to the lab early the next morning, He saw that Jewel was asleep, or had been sedated. She was hooked up to all sorts of machines, they kept track of her physical cycles like heart beat and brain activity. He gently walked to the table, trying his hardest not to touch her in anyway. "I'll be back soon...promise," he said before leaving the lab and going to bid Oak farewell.

As he left the facility, he rummaged through his pocket and took out the red and white sphere. "Alright, lets see," he said as he pressed the release button and tossed the orb a few feet in front of him.

When he threw the orb, a burst of white light was seen before a small petite figure appeared in the light. As the light finally faded, a petite yellow and red pokegirl could be seen. Slowly the pokegirl stood up straight and sneezed before looking around. The plusle was a slender girl with short pastel yellow fur covering most of her body. Her lower arms and hands had short red fur on them and she had red tipped long ears and short red and yellow hair. Behind her was a red tail that looked like a plus sign and on her cheeks were red spots with yellow plus signs in the middle of them. Blinking her bright reddish-brown eyes a couple of times, she looked up at him curiously. "You're not Oak." she said. Her voice was soft a just slightly high pitched. "Who are you?"

He looked at her as she appeared. He guessed all pokegirls where naturally attractive, but in his state of mind he didn't take alot of time to really admire her. "I'm Seth," he answered her as she asked him. "I don't know if Oak has said anything about me before," he recalled the professor aying she was a new pokegirl. "Professor Oak wanted me to take you along with me....he has an important task for us to do," he said, telling her the details of there little excursion.

Elle's ears twitched a couple of times as she stared up at him. He was at least a foot and a half taller then her but that didn't phase her one bit as she stood boldly before him and listened to him speak before she slowly nodded. "Yeah, he's mentioned you a couple of times." she said softly. "Why did he want me to go with you? I thought he was still studying me and he said you had a companion." As if expecting Jewel to be somewhere around her, Elle looked around a little. "Where is she?"

Seth ddn't anser her, not right away anyways, it took him a few seconds to gather himself and exomplain the situation. "She is sick...we don't know what is really wrong with her, but she can't travel with me," he said. "Oak thought it would be best if I had a partner though for the time being, Jewel agreed so he chose you to travel with me." He was still a bit skepticle about the whole thing, but he didn't try to show it when he spoke to her. "Is there a problem traveling with me?"

"Oh... I'm sorry." Elle said quickly. She looked rather embarrassed that she asked about his usual pokegirl. She slowly nodded and looked down at her feet while wringing her hands a little. "No, there's no problem. If it was what Oak wanted, then I shall do it. My name's Elle." she said, not knowing if Oak had told Seth what her name was. "So... where are we going?" she asked.

"Seems Oak wants us to go to Stark Mountain back in the Sinnoh region," he explained "the two orbs I brought back before are...still puzzling him, but he thinks that Stark Mountain might hold some clues." Seth began walking as he explained to her, not to fast so she could keep up "He says there is rumored to have been a legendary pokemon that lived there in the mountain, it supposubly as created when the world was, he was able to decifer that Dialga and Palkia might have helped make the world it is today, so he thinks," he said. Seth wasn't against beleiving that, but he just found it strange that an inactive volcano would have any clues.

The electric pokegirl stared at him for a moment before blinking. "So, he wants us to go to an inactive volcano?" she said before shaking her head with a sigh. "I may be a new pokegirl, but I've been with him long enough to wonder." she said, mostly to herself. "Well then, shall we get going?" She ran her fingers through her red and yellow hair and over her long ears, causing her short hair to become ruffled and to stick up here and there.

He nodded "Yeah, we should get going," he agreed. "Getting there might be a bit of a pain again," he said. Oak had not told him how they would return back to Sinnoh, his only guess was to either hope the magnet train was returning back, or that a ship was setting sail soon for the continent. "How long have you been with the Professor?" he asked her, spaking a conversation so at least there wasn't an awkward ailence.

Turning, she slowly started walking with him. "Why would it be a pain?" she asked him softly. She folded her small hands in front of her and looked over at him curiously while taking in his appearance some more. "Well, I was caught just after the last full moon and then sent here. So... a couple of weeks. Not very long though." she says with a slight nod. "He spent most of the time trying to befriend me I suppose. Each time he got close he would get a shock." She giggled softly with a small smile. "It took him a while to finally figure out that my electricity had built up and needed to be released. After that, he had no problem."

"I'm not sure what would be available for us," he said, as he guessed it would be another ship ride back to Sinnoh. He seemed slightly amused by Oaks attempts at befriending her before realizng the problem. "I guess the Professor is losing his touch just a bit," he said. The mood he had been feeling minutes ago seemed to nearly completely vanish, the Professor had been wise in giving him a partner, he had now grown used to having one. "Anything I should know about you?" he asked her "Like what you like to eat, or when you might suddenly zap me?"

She grinned up at him and shrugged. "He's been really busy lately. I think he was just a little distracted. That Gary person, his nephew, was here around the time I arrived and he had come in with a large number of new pokegirls." she said softly with a sigh. She could remember how there were pokegirls running everywhere when she had arrived and the girls were getting into everything. When he had asked about her, she looked over at him and smiled gently. "Well, I usually eat berries and poffins. Though every now and then the professor would let me have a couple pieces of sushi as a treat for being good. Usually I won't zap a person unless my electricity is built up and needs to be released. Or if someone's been mean, threatening or attacks."

"PPoffins are rather common in Sinnoh," he said, berries and sushi wouldn't be hard to get either. "Gary was there?" he asked, a bit surprised Oak had not said anything. "I really don't like the guy to much....bit of a snob," he commented.

Slowly Elle nodded with a sigh. "Yes, he was there." she said. When he called the other boy a snob, she looked a little confused. "Seth... what's a snob?" The pokegirl had never heard such a word before and it confused her, so she looked to him to answer her question.

It took him a few moments to think of how to answer. "Well...a snob is like a person who is kind of, well can be unkind, a bit full on themselves at times," he explained, doing the best he could. A question however poped n his head. "How much don't you know?"

Elle thought about what he said before she smiled and nodded. "Oh, so you mean he's.. puffed up." she said with a giggle before nodding. "Yes, he is. And so are a lot of his pokegirls." But his question made her pause. "Well... I don't know a lot of things. But I think you need to be more specific." She continued walking a moment later and gazed up into his face curiously.

Seth thought of a few questions. "Well, do you know about Sinnoh?" he asked her, strangely though as they walked there was one question burning in his mind that he wouldn't bring himself to answer. The absense of Jewel though did not seemingly take away other feelings he got.

Elle smiled gently and chuckled. "I came from Sinnoh, Seth." she said gently. "I know a couple of things about it though my knowledge is still limited." She looked over at him and watched him for a little bit. "You have a question. I can tell." she said. It seemed she had that small feature in common with Jewel. They both knew when he had a question.
