In the Year 1023... (Frozen Princess x RainK

KC listened nodding her head before giggling some "I don't know in most of the myths the gods get to be very very petty I mean she did turn that one dude into a deer just because he accidently stumbled upon her and her girls bathing. And then he was eaten by his own dogs if that's not Karen mentality I don't know what is." She shook her head with a small laugh before nodding and giving her a faux bow "But you've got a plan so go off queen hehe"

KC smiled as she stood behind the other girl making gestures and nodding to her statements trying to be an all-around hype woman. She never said anything but would let out a gasp or an ohh here and there when she felt it was needed only for it all to lead to naught.

"Aww its ok you did you're best, now like I said we can head to the library and see whats what with these books. Orrrrrrr new idea we could shove the receptionist outta the way and break into the guys office. If he is the big bad he'll either be there or make sure we can't leave and show up soon enough." She smiled and gave a shrug "I'm down for either so you can make the choice my friend."

Goldie nodded, after speaking to the receptionist. "Right. I forgot about that deer incident. Now that I think about it didn't he do more than just stumble on them? Like do some leering and lusting? I mean, he's lucky he wasn't turned into what he acting like: A wolf. Outcome would have been the same, I think, with the hunters and dogs."

Goldie sighed, "Receptionist is just doing her job, I can't fault her for that. Library seems like the best place for the time being, but how do we get back to the others? I have a baaaaad feeling we need major back-up. Like Zara and Rapunzel and her frying pan kind of back-up. Maybe Robin Hood and Princess Leia, too, because if he's playing a modern college dean of Oxford University in Britain? We're probably talking half a million hit points, here."

She led the way to the library, which didn't seem like the ordinary kind of library upon entering. Goldie looked around her at all the different doors, none of them labelled and gave KC a look. "This is starting to become almost James Bond like, or more specifically: Scooby-Doo. Now what? Just open doors until we find Sherwood Forest?"

On impulse, she opened the first door. A baritone voice rang out, "Well, gang, looks like we have another mystery on our hands." Goldie quickly shut it. "When will I learn not to open my big mouth..." She whimpered.

She giggled and shrugged. "I mean, I really can't blame the guy, if you stumbled upon some of our friends just out in the open with their bodies on display, you'd probably be dumbstruck as well and someone might take that as leering." She continued to giggle before shaking her head, "In any case,e the gods are spiteful."

She glanced back at the secretary and huffed before following her friend out the door and further into the labyrinth that was the college. "I mean sure, but there ain't no reason to be snooty about it, a simple no sorry, goes a long way." She giggled and winked at her, "You just wanna flirt with your girlfriend, let's be honest. And hey, mine would definitely be helpful here....I think she's exceptionally smart, but ya know I think the fantasy stuff really knocks her back hehe."

She giggled to herself as she stepped into the library and looked around at all the doors "Damn this is wild.....wait wait I wanna meet Scooby and Daphne and of course Velma. If there was anyone who made me question it was those two women." She smiled, dreaming for a moment before shaking her head. "Anyway, maybe it's a Wizard of OZ thing and we need to just think about our friends and then boom there we are."

She smiled and moved over to another door, doing exactly that,t closing her eyes, she thought of Polly and the rest of their friend,s and pulled the door open

Goldie shrugged, but didn't say anything to break KC concentration until after she opened the door. "For me, my aha, I'm definitely a lesbian! moment, was Totally Spies, I mean, Sam and Alex both, y'know? Clover not so much... Stereotypical blonde to the point of farce." She then pointed to her own blonde hair as proof. "I'm not that sex crazy or dense, and neither is Polly, your girlfriend. May's a redhead. Like Sam."

They would hear Little John addressing the group. "It's settled then. Since our scouts have said they saw King Richard and his entourage heading this way, we split into two groups and one group ruins Prince John, the phony king of England's life while the rest beg Richard to go into town instead. The other, while in town, search for Robin. Y'know. WHILE running interference in the name of the actual King. Richard."

Kim as Maid Marian said, "But you and Leia over here said you didn't see her surface after the dive!"

Polly shook her head. "I can't believe she's gone, Marian... Not a professional diver like Ape-er-Robin!"

Goldie nodded. "Well played, Artemis. Time to reimmerse ourselves into our characters... Umm, since you're the goddess of the hunt, maybe you should help persuade King Richard to go into Nottingham proper. If memory serves me, in the book, that's where he finds an injured Robin AND catches his villainous brother in the act." It would actually be the deputy sheriff of Nottingham the King catches, who admits it was the Prince's scheme. Goldie needed to be reminded, before she took up her place with Zara and those on the town group.

KC glanced back at her with a smile "Oh, not a bad choice, honestly all those girls were sexy and lets be honest they were put in some interesting situations" She smiled with another giggle before she glanced back at the door just to hear the sound of a booming voice speaking to the group. "Oh I think it worked I was totally pulling that from my butt so I'm really glad it worked." She smiled and, making sure to leave the door open, she stepped through, making her way to the group. "Ooo,h not a bad play, the only one a king listens to is a god, so not a bad try at all."

Zara was intent on listening to the group trying to decide where she needed to go, another royal might help convince Richard, but then again, she was one of the tanks and it was always fun to smash some heads. It was then she sensed a shift around them and glancing up she looked about before narrowing her eyes to where she could feel something and then heard someone walking towards them. "Quiet someone's coming our way." She signaled for Catra to move towards a tree to press her back to it while Zara did the same waiting for whoever was about to stop out. Only to suddenly relax when the scent of her best friend washed over her "Nevermind we're good its KC and *snif sniff* Goldie back from wherever they went"

At the sound of Goldie coming back May glanced up from where she was comforting her sister. She gave her a squeeze and then kissed her cheek signing a quick "It will be alright promise just keep a strong chin." She smiled and then stood moving to find Goldie her emojis giving a huffing red face before she tsked signing at her "Where have you been hmmmmmm?"

Little John raised an eyebrow at Zara's comment and watched leopard like Catra press herself against a tree. He readied his staff and told everyone with hand gestures to scatter: Only to sigh with relief when Zara called KC by her real name. Since he was computer generated, his eyebrow shot up, seeing the Greek goddess Artemis. "Prithee, noble Zara... Who is this Kay Cee you speak of, tis our good friends Artemis and Goldie Gold."

Kim nodded her agreement to May, while drying her tears.

Goldie sighed and signed, forgetting the boxes appear for the hearing impaired, there was no place she could sign privily. "Not in front of the Merry Men and Women of Robin's. Get Cinderella, Maid Marian, whoever the game says Polly is (Princess Cassandra Leia Organa), my dad and your sister. Wait. Your sister is Maid Marian. Right. Forgot. Artemis and I will explain everything when all us boxes are together. We need to find Robin Hood, posthaste. We'll need her, too, KC and I may have found the way out of this game we're stuck in, like some Fairy Tale Jumanji."

Catnip (Catra), meanwhile, hugged KC. "Really, Artemis, where DID you pop off to? Especially since we're kinda stuck here until we finish the Robin Hood story. At least."

(This leaves KC to gather the others. Someone needs to reset to get the Harts (NPCs) from the starting point. No real person left behind. You pick, even if it's one of my characters, please. If one of yours, you can move the Harts to join the group when the character comes back to Sherwood.)

Zara chuckled, rolling her eyes at John's words, "A simple code name we've developed allows for more privacy in these unconventional times friend" She nodded to him before joining her girlfriend, wrapping the pair of them in a large hug, squeezing the smaller cat girl between the goddess and her queen. After a moment, she let them go with a sigh, then picked Catrap up and balanced her on her shoulder, letting her sit there if she liked. "Seems you two found something of note, well then let's step off somewhere more private and deal with it." She nodded to John, "Keep watch, John, we need to deal with something within our group." She smiled and then set off a little ways down a nearby path
May nodded, signing a quick set of emojis, the ok hand signal, and a robber being sneaky, plus a finger over lips. She kissed Goldie on the cheek before she slipped back to her sister and took a moment to urge her to her feet before quickly signing,
"I know you're dealing with something, but we need to have a meeting and you're part of it, hun, so come on." She continued to prod her along, following Zara and Catra gently.

KC let out an exasperated breath as she was tightly squeezed before finally being freed and allowed to answer,
"Well, the archeologist and I did some digging and found some interesting umm backways that might help us out. That's all I can say here, ok?" She smiled up at the pair before moving to find her girlfriend. She sighed as she caught sight of her and then moving forward grabbed her face and pulled her into a kiss "I missed you it feels like forever and what we were doing I'm sure you would have figured out way sooner than I did so please come be smart while I continue to be the pretty one" She giggled as she took her hand them moved around to the other PCs before she stopped in front of Angie "I think we might need you to head back and get some of our earlier friends if you think you're up to it. While I don't like sending our healer, I figure a traveling doctor would be less suspicious than some of the rest of us."

It would take about an hour and a half in real time for Angie to only sigh in reluctance, head out and get back to Sherwood Forest with the Harts.

"Anyone read Robin Hood recently enough to know where we are in the story?" Goldie's dad asked, still sounding like Igthorne, the character he was playing.

Polly shook her head. "Chapter 29? Near the end of it? Richard the Lionheart is headed for Nottingham. I-I can't remember where Robin is found... Only she's gotta be injured according to the novel." She took a deep breath. "We need to find her though, before the deputy sheriff and his men, do. We all spread out and look!"

Catra was ready to go when Goldie said, "No. I have a better idea. Polly, you know the book, and you're Princess Leia. Rally Robin's Merry Men to find her! The rest of us, gather around, we need to go after the big boss the moment Polly returns with April. I don't think we have much time left so anyone with plans to defeat an Oxford University Dean, let's hear them. The Dean is our real big bad and is behind the game, maybe even the creator of it. Remember, I said the person would have to have been a super genius to create the complexities we've experienced in here. Brainstorm time. No idea too our there."

Cinderella/Sapphire smirked. "Well then, as my favorite Batman parody would say, 'let's get dangerous!'"[/U]

Goldie gave Sapphire a concerned look before looking at the others for ideas.

Zara nodded to Angie, giving her a thumbs up, before she turned her attention back to the other ladies. "Well, now I'm probably out on this one because you know me my idea is always run in and smash heads, and I'm going to take a wild guess that that won't work in this context. But if you need someone to look hot and cause a distraction, just ask Catra. I can easily be that." She smiled and gave the cat girl a wink as she squatted down to listen to the rest of the team.

KC chewed on her lip as she watched Angie before she moved over to her and pulled her into a quick kiss, hoping Polly wouldn't mind too much.
"Be safe out there and try not to be too much of a curmudgeon for the others." She chuckled and shot her a wink before joining the other girls. Giggling at Zara's words, she shrugged and settled down on a log. "I'm not much of a thinker either; that's your and Polly's department. I draw. It would help if we knew more about this so-called boss as well, cause then we'd be able to better strategize."She shrugged again as she sat there trying to think of something that might help

May shifted around the ground, walking in circles as she tapped on her chin, which cause an image of clouds and the typying bubbles ot appear above her head. At KC's words, she raised her head, and a question mark appeared above her. Then her fingers began to move, and the words appeared above:
"Question for the disappearing duo: Did you spy anything in the office or library that would point to who or what this boss is. Or potentially something that would point to a weakness, it's still a game, so maybe there were hints around?"

Goldie had to think for a minute or two, before the light came on, and her eyes brightened. "Yes, May. Several things. Although we didn't go in the Scooby-Doo door to verify, NObody had a box, indicating they're real, like we all do... Not the receptionist nor the librarian! The library was nothing but a bunch of doors leading to different stories, instead of aisles and aisles of books arranged by the Dewey decimal system. We couldn't enter to see the Dean, but we had exactly what was needed to look like a college student." She frowned. "Also the sign over the minotaur maze was only in Greek, so only I and KC, the only two there, could read it." She glanced at KC. "I have a sneaky suspicion you could read and understand that sign, because Polly talked you into being a Greek goddess, am I right? Another thing... The minotaur was straight out of steampunk science fiction, and not a regular minotaur and, of course, playing the richest girl in the world and an Indiana Jones parody, I had a bullwhip we could use to trip it, and give Artemis here, the perfect shot into the beast's temple control panel, short-circuiting it." She frowned. "In fact, my backpack had only what we needed, I didn't even have a change of clothes. Me, personally, I always, ALWAYS pack a change of clothes! Maybe my character doesn't?" She looked at KC to see if she remembered anything Goldie forgot, or could add a clue herself.

Zara and May sat back in their respective areas and listened to the quick retelling of what the other two had gone through during their brief absence. Zara smirked, giving KC a thumbs up at the idea that she managed such a crazy shot.

KC sat cross-legged next to Polly as she tapped her chin, nodding along to everything Goldie was saying. "Ok, yeah, now that you mention it there weren't any name tags or identifiers for the staff, and now that I think about it, we were the only "students" in the place, which I know we weren't supposed to be there, but like you would think they'd have some other NPCs about. I mean, obviously, I'm not sure on the last part, well, except for the Greek, I can read that irl for sure, but I don't know what a goddess of the hunt would have on her other than a bow and arrows, so your later guess is as good as mine. So do you think we found the administrators? Oh, and maybe they've been stuck in here the whole time and just started believing the lie. Ya know, kind of how everybody's started to pick up mannerisms from their chosen class/character? So we really do need to find the boss, but chances are he's gone crazy to and thinks he is some sort of all-powerful dean boss thing."

Goldie frowned. "You're right, KC, there was no mistaken the place as Oxford University in England, but I've been there irl. It's huge and has a lot of faculty and students, thousands of students. Most all snobs, but I digress."

She shook her head and shrugged her shoulders. "The admins of the game? I'm not sure, since there was no box. My understanding of the rules, you cannot turn your box off. Remember, being a prisoner of the beast, who we realized was Gaston, I was locked up with a bunch of books, including a copy of the user's manual."

Polly excused herself after getting a raised eyebrow from Sapphire. "Right. I'm supposed to be helping the Merry Men find the king and Robin. We need April, ASAP." She quickly took off to catch up with Little John.

Goldie suddenly got a strange, almost dawning look, on her face. "You know who we haven't run into, or seen a hint of existing?"

Sapphire glared at her. "So HELP me, Goldie, if you say Darth Vader I'm going to lay you flat. Ask KC, here, I can. I'm not just snark when I need to, I've got a hell of a haymaker left cross!"

Goldie shook her head and held up her hands. "Think about it for a minute, girls. Hart to Hart, Robin Hood, Gummi Bears, Greek Mythology, Star Trek, Star Wars, sword and sorcery, Cinderella and Tangled... Even Goldie Gold to a point. What do all of these have in common?" The answer WAS staring everyone right in the face. It was "nerd culture", as even the well-established IPs had fanfiction and Goldie was a parody of another nerd classic in "Indiana Jones"!

Zara lay back listening to the talk for the moment. She was keeping her mouth shut because, as she had pointed out, she really wasn't too great at this kind of stuff. She didn't much care for puzzles, and they didn't need her to fight anyone, at least not in the moment. So for now, she would entertain herself by teasing Catra, pulling out a long stick with leaves, and flicking it back and forth in front of her.

KC kissed Polly on the cheek and smiled at her before shooing her off to do her job. She turned back to Goldie, adding her own information where she could, but the other girl was digging into it and doing quite well. Then she had her question and gave a shrug. To KC, some of them had things in common, like the two sci-fi franchises, but then she was lost on how the Greeks and fairy tales interconnected. She sat back down, tapping her chin, trying to think of what it all could mean.

May was still pacing when she glanced over at her girlfriend and narrowed her eyes, and then a lightbulb appeared above her head, followed by an emoji picture of Indiana Jones, followed by several other nerdy IPs.

KC stood up, "Oh, oh, oh, they're all like fandoms and popular IPs. But I mean, if that's right, Indiana Jones isn't the only one missing, like May is pointing out. So maybe the story is ever-growing and continues to shift and change, and that's why the library was the way it was?"

Catra seemed fixed on the stick, watching the leaves wave, tail swishing back and forth, completely ignoring the conversation around her.

Goldie nodded to May, "You're half right, May." She signed, "With my character technically taking the place of Indiana Jones, he's already accounted for. My character also takes out the rich trope, so there's no need for Richie Rich, mansions and bling, or even Veronica Lodge." She then turned to KC, audibly answering her question. "That's my thinking, too, but you are still focussing on the missing characters and not the missing common thing. Technically a person, but it's still the stereotype. That's what we've been dealing with... If you want to be technical. Stereotypes." She looked puzzled as Catra took a swipe at the just out of reach leafy stick. "Alright, WilyKit¹, pay attention to the conversation and not the toy!"

Catra looked at Goldie, head tilted to the side, like Goldie had lost her marbles, and focussed back on the waving stick, letting out a playful but gutteral growl from deep within, like she was going to pounce any minute.

Sapphire facepalmed before saying, "Are you suggesting that our big bad is going to be a stereotype? More specifically, a pocket protector and bandaged glasses wearing, nerd?"

Goldie nodded. "Jumanji, both the movie and game, is also nerd culture. This game is playing like the game, as well as Dungeons and Dragons, with levels and layers and such. Not to mention our changes we're all going through. Literally becoming our characters... So the pieces fit."

Catra then let out a growling, hissing, "Miaouuuu!!" and dove after the stick, fully stretched out like a cat, with hackles raised, and tail whipping wildly.

Goldie sighed and rubbed a hand across her face. "Case in point..."

Sapphire blinked at Catra, then deadpanned, looking right at KC. "Are we sure it's Jumanji and not Jenga? I think our tower just toppled!"

1-Shout out to yet another nerdy IP: Thundercats. Ho!

Zara was fully entranced with the game, as well enjoying the sight of her girlfriend getting frisky and agitated by the small stick flashing in front of her. She had to admit she wasn't totally sure this would work, but the results spoke for themselves, and she found it adorable. She would have to buy the girl some cat ears and a tail.....maybe even some paws. Shit, was Zara a furry? No, no, well technically yes, but no, she just liked cat girls, and come on, who didn't love cat girls? It was in that moment of distraction that Catra went on the attack and managed to crash down on the stick. "Ah, you got it, but I'm stronger, so try to hold on." She laughed as she swiftly tugged it away and went back to teasing her with it. She managed a glimpse at the group and chuckled, a blush on her face. "Sorry, guys, she's just too adorable. I can't not tease her. Also, I haven't really been affected, but I think that's more because of ahem, other things."

KC watched the other girls for a moment, chuckling at Catra before she nodded at the archaeologist, encouraging her to continue. KC had an idea of where she was going, but wasn't a hundred percent. "So like she said," nodding at Sapphire. "We're either looking for Game Freak from Teen Titans or we're looking for some dungeon master in his mom's basement. Which those two aren't far off, but then again, that brings up the question of why the college. Maybe they think themselves an intellect deserving of that prestige?" She tapped her chin as she continued to think, pacing back and forth now, ohh, why did Polly have to leave? She's the smart one.

May was all on board her emojis flashing through different well-known nerdy loves, until Goldie made her point about it most likely not being a missing one. She sighed and sat back as she to tried to think before her hands began to move and the words popped up
"So we thinking head back to the college and try to find like a server room or the AV club?"

Goldie shrugged with a sigh at Zara."I'm pretty sure I had that figured. I've met you in real life, Zara. My dad's restaurant in Littleton metro outskirts? I was calling Catra there, WilyKit. You would probably be more Pumyra."

She looked at May, grinning and nodding, while pointing to her own nose. Apparently May had gotten on Goldie's mental wavelength after all.

"Thundercats fan, Goldwyn? Which rendition?" Came an unfamiliar feminine voice, with all the airs of a modern royal.

Everyone would see April returning, limping and her box saying Robin Hood, holding her hat, grimacing and let out an "ow" before grunting as she sat next to sisters Kim and May.

King Richard had a box as well, and Polly pointed to him. "Polly explained you're using your real names in an effort to trick my out of control AI into letting you go." There was the unfamiliar feminine voice, coming from the King of England! "If that's the case, Princess Eilonwy, of Cordonia. Yes it's a real place, and not just a game place." The "King" showed his right hand. "My real thing. My signet ring." It was a thinner band than a man would wear, but from the size of the gem, and the crest... They were definitely in the presence of real royalty. "I created this game, but now I wish I hadn't. I'm a captured victim like the rest of you." If only the AI boss could be arrested for treason!

"Eh-ill-on-uh-why?"Polly asked."Like Black Cauldron?"

The King visually winced. "It's Welsh, Polly. You really butchered my name! Eye-LAHN-wee. It comes from The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander."

Looks like they found the mother of the villain, since she already admitted to creating the AI of the game. At least the European princess was a prisoner like the rest of them... And she needed to fight to get out as well.
