Heart of Ice (Grave x Unicorn)

The sky is pitchblack with no stars, the only celestial bodies are the Sun that runs a blood red color and what is left of a crumbling moon. The grass and other greenery is black and grey, they could easily see the corpses of what appear to be animals between the trees as their bodies are white as ash. Vivial opens her eyes and saw the familiar dying skies. "...here we are. We are near the mountains where the God's Overlook lies."

Everyone looked around in stunned horror. This world was clearly dying, there was no denying that. The Sun looked like it might explode at any minute, wiping out what was left of this world. It was inconceivable to the mortals among them to see the world coming to an end. Raiden had seen worlds end, but it was never a pretty or comforting sight.
"What happened here?" Sub-Zero asked, showing a rare stunned incomprehension.

"This is what happens when a God becomes insane, imprisoning a world and letting it rot in its cage. It took hundreds of years to get to this point, Therasis won't last much longer if this continues. He must die." She said as she looks at the mountains where the overlook is located. "Kvar will have his servants protecting the overlook, have to sneak inside, its the only bastion that we have left."

Raiden, though he had lived for uncountable years, had never seen anything like this. He was aware that gods could fall, Shinnok being a case in point. But to see a guardian of a realm metaphorically starve it to death was new to him. What could have driven him to this madness? Paranoia? Or was he truly mad at all?

"Killing this realm's guardian deity would end it in an instant, taking us along with it. We must find some way to cure Rhahnos of his madness and get him to restore the life force of this world. If all else fails, there are drastic measures that can be taken."
"Drastic measures?" Kung Lao asked.
"I will not speak further of them at this time, Kung Lao. Let us pray it does not come to that."

With the matter closed, Sub-Zero steered the conversation back to the business at hand.
"We should get to the God's Overlook. It seems that is where we must start if we are to fix this world."
He understood now why Vivial had been so desperate in seeking help. The recollection of that day made him wonder if the men chasing her had a hand in this chaos. Having agreed on a goal, the group set out for the God's Overlook.

"...Then if there is another way, we should take it. But he has been this way for a long time, I do not think he could let the realm be free." She dares not to look at the state of he world, just what is in front of her as they march ahead. "There is no doubt that Kvar is expecting us, His agents will show no mercy." She warns them as anything can happen, and she stops moving when something large is emerging from the dead trees. It is a large furry creature similar to a bear, but it appears to be an undead creature. It growls as it spots the humans, then roaring as another one of them is walking behind it.

The others did not say anything to Vivial after she spoke, only nodding to show that they understand what she's saying. They stopped only when a zombie bear appeared, though it was not alone.
"Foul necromancy is responsible for this," Raiden declared.
Sub-Zero acted quickly, his hands extending and ice erupting from them in a concentrated beam. When it struck the bears, they were frozen solid. Sonya fired one blast from each pulse cannon strapped to her wrists, shattering the frozen undead.

"They'll need more than that to stop us," Sonya confidently declared.
"I have no doubt they have more," Sub-Zero responded.
They were for sure going to have to deal with an insane Rhahnos. What Kvar could do, though, was still a mystery.
"Let's push on," Raiden said.
The group moved on toward the mountain stronghold, knowing that they had not seen anything yet.

Vivial saw the animals going down and stayed dead this time, this is the power of necromancy and it has made her sick to her stomach. She didn't think that this was possible to achieve, but it was horrible, but this is probably not the worst to come. She shivers in fear but looks around for any sign of danger and magic. But then something bothered him greatly, how could he use magic if the world is dying. It was already draining as it is. "I do not understand, how could he...it was awful..."

Sub-Zero sympathized with Vivial. It must have been terrible to live in this world and see that life was still being treated with such disregard. He placed a hand on her shoulder as a gesture of support before they moved on. They continued the hard trek up the mountain, thankful that Raiden could restore their energy with his power. They reached the Overlook and took cover behind a wall connected to the entrance gate.
"What's the plan, Vivial?" Raiden asked, deferring to her since she had much greater knowledge of the world.

"This is the last bastion of our civilization, and beyond that is the fortress of the Gods. I know of a way we can get through without gaining too much attention." She said as she points to the side. "There is a lake that will get us into the mountains, it is a short cut that will get us in the fortress without detection." She said as she hopes that it wasn't discovered when she escaped.
