Slateport, a gem upon the ocean. Riley paused where he had arrived, taking the opportunity to breath in the salty air, to listen to the people, the sounds, everything. It was his first day in Hoenn, and he hoped to get off to a good start in the new region.

He reached up, adjust the strap on his shoulder. Everything he needed was either in this bag, or on his belt. He had his camera, food, money, changes of clothes, and the Pokeballs for his team as well as a few extras. It had been a decently long trip from Goldenrod, but it had passed without incident. Now he was here to meet people and take some photographs. And hopefully make some money in the process, but that was a bit secondary to this whole thing. He had a few goals he'd like to attain as far as subject material was concerned, whether it be Legendaries or the Elite Four, but he was going to stay flexible for now when he was just starting out.

As he stood there, a purple Delcatty wound its way around his feet, purring and rubbing against his leg. "Yeah Luma, I'm glad to be here too," he confirmed to his partner with a smile. Luma had been very helpful with his camera work, from pulling in human subjects to interacting with other Pokemon. Of course he might overly pamper the Delcatty, but that was just the price of business. It wasn't as if he was a competitive trainer.

There was another purr from his partner, tail swaying through the air. No doubt they wanted some fish, or simply his attention. But they were here now, and he wanted to make some ground before settling in like that.

For now he turned and made his way into the market, Delcatty prowling alongside him. He didn't really need to buy anything at this point, but it seemed like a good place to start for information and meeting people. Both locals as well as strangers were here, so there would surely be an opportunity or two for a photo. There was only one way to find out as he moved to that part of town.

As was typical of the afternoon, Slateport’s market was bustling with people both local and visitor. Trainers from all across the world visited this market to find unique goods and aides for their pokemon training. Merchants also took a fancy to selling their wares here as they made a big profit off of the traffic the biggest city it Hoenn offered.

Desperate vendors called out their sales to the crowd as those with much attention struggled to keep up with demand. It was almost a living creature unto itself this market, a rare pokemon bursting with life as it breathed the commerce of pokemon trainers. As Riley prowled the market he would find vendors selling incenses to boost a pokemon’s stamina, they also advertised that it was great for humans in the bedroom. A particular popular stall would feature food from the deep sea of the Hoenn region, many crowded around to get a taste of the fishermen’s boon.

Another such stall was looking a bit empty compared to others. A girl stood yelling out to the crowd about the vitamins she sold for pokemon, and how it made them look beautiful. She was wearing a simple dress and apron, but had bright eyes and lavish pink hair. Few visited her stall as it was out of seacon for Pokemon Beauty Contests, but a interested patron would visit time to time to ask her questions.

Out of the corner of his eye Riley would see a girl eyeing his Delcatty with admiration. A bright smile crept across her face as she watched, but would look away quickly if Riley tried to make eye contact.

“Lets go check out the battle tent!” A girl said excitedly as her and a few friends left the market. The lone girl in a group of young boys had a bright smile as she joined her friends to go take on one of Slateport’s more unique trainer challeneges.

Looking around, Riley was not surprised with how busy it was. As a commercial hub for shipping, the market here likely had access to all sorts of goods. Some were from Hoenn itself, while others were from further afield. The place was filled with noise too, as vendors hawked their wares and people conversed with each other. But all the hustle and bustle did not spook him as he walked around.

There was plenty to see, that was for sure. Food, clothing, statues, and the like. One voice reached over to him from a fairly empty stall, promoting vitamins for beauty. It was a tempting offer, but Luma could be fairly egotistic, as much as any Pokemon could reasonably be. Encouraging them in that was probably not the wisest idea.

Another group ran by, mentioning the battle tent. He would need to check that out, if only to say that he had done so,. But he wasn't in a hurry right now. No, instead his attention had been drawn by a girl looking at Luma, quite interested in his Delcatty partner. He looked over to give an approving nod, but his attention seemed to spook her as she averted her gaze. Nonetheless, she did not look away.

There was only one thing he could do. Crouching, he patted Luma on the head and gestured over to the girl. "Looks like you have a fan," he told the Pokemon. "Why don't you say hello." He might not have succeeded, but the focus of her attention surely would.

"Del, Delcatty," Luma purred before turning and slipping through the crtowd over to the girl. Its tail swished as it pawed at her feet and slipped around her legs, seemingly using her as a tool to enjoy itself in that way. Hopefully she would be receptive to the overture

The small girl played to her shy nature as the man’s focus came to her. She didn’t think to attract his attention, just that his Delcatty was so pretty it caught her eye as she wandered through the market alone. Though she would usually be supremely embarrassed, the pleasant surprise of the Delcatty approaching her made her smile, and as it pawed at her feet she crouched down, her jean overall suspender falling off her shoulder momentarily before she fixed it.

“You are so pretty.” She patted the Delcatty’s head. “What is your name? She asked the Delcatty as it purred in the palm of her hand. Her long black hair flowed over her shoulder in a braid as she patted the Pokemon’s head, but soon she lifted her gaze to the Dalcatty’s partner, the mysterious man that was looking at her in the market.

“Hi…” she said sheepishly. This is a cute Delcatty.” She smiled again at the Pokemon.

Luma certainly appreciated the attention, purring as it leaned into her petting hand. Stepping back, after a moment the Delcatty rose onto hind legs to bop her chin, then landing and spinning in place as its tail flicked at her hand. Needless to say, the girl's petting went a long way to earn Luma's approval, and the Delcatty basked in it.

As that went on, Riley took the opportunity to approach both of them, now that he knew the girl would not run away. "Careful," he warned with a grin. "Pamper him too much and he won't let you leave." Well, relatively speaking. In the end Luma was his Pokemon after all, so it wasn't as if the Delcatty could stay with her for long. Even leaving aside the whole 'food' thing.

With a hand resting on his hip, he continued to watch the duo. "His name is Luma," he explained. "I'm Riley. We just arrived in Slateport, but it's good to see that he's already making friends. What's your name?" He extended a hand to shake, still smiling all the while.

The girl was at first startled by Riley’s approach but the head bop by the Delcatty did a lot to calm her nerves.

She gave a cute giggle as she continued to pet Luma with little regard for the risk of him being attached to her, pampering the pokemon with all her gusto. As Riley extended his hand and introduced himself the cute girl looked on for a moment until she sheepishly extended her own hand, but of course with a smile.

“I’m Yumia.” She grinned with dimpled cheeks. “Luma is very cute, it makes me want to pet him more if he stays.” She looked back to Riley again unsure.

“What brings you to Slateport?” She cocked her head to the side, standing up but barely even coming to chest level with the man.

Riley was pleased to see her nerves had not gotten the best of her, and he shook her hand with a firm yet friendly grip. "Nice to meet you Yumia," he replied. Regardless of what else happened, at least he had made one friend here.

Glancing down at Luma once more, he added another note about his partner. "He also is a bit of a climber." Reaching down, he gently picked up Luma and placed the Delcatty on Yumia's shoulder. There the Pokemon would shift in place, looking for a point of stability to rest on as he nuzzled against her head. She enjoyed petting him, so she'd probably enjoy this too. If she could support the weight, anyways.

Only then did he turn to her question. "Traveling, mostly," he replied before hefting his camera. "I'm a photographer, so I';m out seeing what sorts of photos I can take. Humans, Pokemon, places, that sort of thing. I've never been to Hoenn before, so it's practically a land of open possibilities."

“Its nice to meet you too.” Yumia gave a cute and warm smile. The Delcatty did wonders to calm a girl who would normally be standoffish.

The Delcatty was heavy, and Yumia being a small girl shifted under his weight, but as Pokemon and girl got adjusted she had a bright smile, Luma nuzzling her was just the icing on top of the cake. She stroked Luma some more as she watched Riley break out his camera.

“Wow you are a photographer, that is so cool!” Yumia stared at the camera in wonder as Riley hefted it. “Will you take a picture of me and Luma?” She pleaded in a cute way that she knew got her the things she wanted.

Luma rested on his perch, both enjoying the attention of Yumia while surveying the area as if he were a king. For now he'd remain there, but he would likely move if he got bored. Delcatty could be like that. But it wasn't a problem, since he likely wouldn't go far.

Riley couldn't help but chuckle at her reaction to his camera. It wasn't the first time someone had reacted like that, and the following question was just as predictable. He had said he came to Hoenn to take pictures, and he certainly intended to do so.

Still, he wasn't about to rush into it either. A photographer needed to be mindful of their environment, and various factors that would serve to make for a good picture. "Sure," he agreed with a glance to his camera. "Do you know any good spots near here for that sort of thing? I think we can avoid the 'middle of the street' aesthetic if we feel like it." They could if she didn't know anywhere better, but there was no harm in asking. She undoubtedly knew the city better than he did.

Mori’s jaw dropped before morphing into a smile. She had just wanted a quick shot of her and Delcatty but a real life photographer was asking for a photoshoot and her to choose the spot. She was giddy at the idea, so many ideas ran to her head.

“Oh I know a bunch of places! There is a park not to far that has some really pretty areas, the beach of course is a big deal here, there is a great place at the harbor that looks out over all the boats, and there is even a cute grove right outside the city on Route 110 before you get to the bicycle road.”

Mori could hardly stop herself from bouncing, but also did not want to disturb Delcatty from its perch.

“You are the professional so I will let you pick!”

Humming in thought, Riley rubbed his chin as he considered the available options that Yumia proposed. There were some good choices there, and in a more perfect world he might have gone with a few. But one seemed fine for right now. He didn't want to get too bogged down so soon after arriving in Slateport. There would always be time for more later if they felt like it.

After a moment he lifted a finger to declare his decision. "We'll head to that spot at the harbor. I think the background with you and Luma will look great." Of course they'd have to see the spot, but he had high expectations now. Hopefully he would not be disappointed.

For now he turned, giving a small bow to Yumia. "Lead the way," he told her. There was no reason to stick around here now that they had a destination in mind, so best to be on their way.

Yumia hopped too, hoping Luma would stay on her shoulder as she guided them to the spot she previously talked about. She gave the Delcatty pets as she trotted forward, chatting about the city with Riley as they exited the crowd of the market,m. It was evident she was very eager and excited, leading them to what was one of her favorite spots to be alone and contemplate her life in Slateport.

After leaving the bustling market Yumia would lead them about a mile down the road near where Riley had gotten off the ferry and arrived in Hoenn, infact the very ferry he road was in view as they crossed the street to what was a railed overlook of the harbor.

“Just wait this is not even the best view.” She wagged her finger between petting Luma on the head. The short and petite girl slid behind a fence that block the public off from a warehouse area near the harbor.
“Don’t worry, it's abandoned.” She said like she had done this many times before. She just bounced along like the cute young girl that she was, up until the very moment they arrived behind the warehouse and had the most perfect view of the harbor and the sea beyond.

“See, the best view possible.” She turned around, smiling and waiting for Riley to tell her how to pose with Luma.

With Yumia taking the lead, the trio made their way through Slateport. It was back the way he had come, but he trusted his companion to know where she was going. At the same time they chatted about Slateport as well as his job, letting him learn a bit about the city and what went on here. Now he would have a better idea of the things that he could get up to once this little shoot of theirs was finished.

Arriving back at the ferry road, they crossed the street to an overlook of the harbor. He was prepared to go on, but paused when she told him that this was not the best spot. "Oh? Do lead the way," he replied with a grin. With her this excited, how could he refuse?

With Luma still on her shoulder, Yumia slid behind a fence that would take her to a warehouse. It was a bit more difficult for Riley to do so owing to all the stuff he had to carry as well as his larger size, but he managed eventually. Then he was able to follow her behind the warehouse, to a spot where they could see the harbor and the sea beyond. There was no one to bother them here, and it was easy to see the boats plying the waves below.

He nodded in approval with her declaration, already turning to the possibilities. "It is a great view," he agreed while looking around. There were a lot of opportunities here, and not just for photography. With that he issued his first instruction. "Go ahead and sit on the edge thee with Luma on your shoulder. Look out over the water and make it look like you're thinking about something."

He waited for her to do so before moving as well, shifting to crouch by her side as he captured the profile of her face as well as Luma imitating her actions. There was a 'click' as the camera snapped a few photos, leading to him nodding once more. "Now look at the camera and smile." Once more a 'click' as he took photos of the new pose. Things were going pretty well so far.

Yumia was delighted that Riley liked her spot, it was her own little special place that she came when she was troubled, so secluded and quiet for her to think. Her heart began to race with excitement as he broke out the camera once more, she could not wait to have a collection of these photos with her and Luma.

She took prompts well, the pretty girl looking out over the ocean contemplatively as she heard the clicks of his camera. Each click made her more and more excited, she made sure to give Luma pats on the head between shots, but as she turned back towards the camera with a smile as prompted she looked truly happy.

“How do they look?” Her black hair blew in the sea breeze as she glanced at him inquisitively.

Yumia was an obedient subject, following his instructions without difficulty and seeming to enjoy herself. He knew that the poses he had chosen were good ones, and the results paid off for that as he glanced to see how they had turned out when she asked. He was just as curious as she was. Her shyness was gone, and now the real 'her' shone through. Or so he'd like to say.

"They look good," he assured her. But now he had another pose in mind. Stepping forward, he plucked Luma off of her shoulder and placed him back on the ground. "Go over there," he said to the Delcatty, gesturing at what he meant. His partner did not need further instructions, as he walked over to several nearby crates and hopped up on to one.

Riley then returned to Yumia. "Go ahead and stand behind him on the box," he told her. "Make it look like you're following him." Once again he waited for her to pose, before he took another series of pictures. Assuming they lived up to the vision in his head, these would be good shots.

Yumia was not sure what Riley had in mind as he plucked Luma off her shoulder, she was at first disappointed but then after getting more instructions she smiled brightly and hopped to it.

“Ok! That sounds cute!” She eagerly ran towards the boxes, her small frame ducking behind them mischievously as she innocently peered over the boxes like she was stalking the Delcatty. Her big eyes rose over the edge of the box as she waited for Riley to take the picture, she was certainly having a lot more fun than she thought she would today.

As it so happened, Yumia did not precisely match what Riley had in mind. But it worked regardless. So he did not stop her from doing it as he snapped a couple more pictures of her in the new pose.

Checking the photos, Riley nodded once more. "Pretty good," he assured his companion. "You're a natural." Sure she had room to grow, but there was a natural charm to her that really shone out once she got over her shyness. Maybe she would take heart in that, and grow as a person because of it.

That said, a problem did occur to him. One that he was quick to bring up with her. "Actually, how am i going to get these photos to you once they're developed? I'd be a bit rude of me for us to hang out together this whole time. Do you have an address I could mail them to? "It was a reasonable question. At the same time he was also probing a bit, quietly seeking to learn about her living situation and about any other difficulties that might arise. It never hurt to be safe.

Yumia beamed as Riley called her a natural. The young girl was on cloud nine as she thought about all the pretty pictures she would have, wondering what it would be like being a real model.

“You really mean that?” She ran up to Riley with her hands clenched in anticipation. “Could we do this again?” She had enjoyed herself a lot during this short photoshoot, more so than she thought she would. He was a professional after all, and if he thought she was good that made her feel a whole inch taller.

“Oh how long will they take to develop?” She wondered as she didn’t know how long he would be in town. “If you are going to be in Slateport long then you can always bring them by my house, I don’t live far from here and the Pokemon center.” She thought of the place he may likely be staying the night.

Another problem donned on her as she let her excitement run away.

“Oh and uh… if you do drop them off, do you mind coming after 5pm?” Yumia looked self conscious. She knew her over conservative mother would never let her do photoshoots like this. “It’s just my mom leaves for work before then and she didn’t know I did this, so it would be best if you came when no one else is home.

Finding himself swiftly confronted, Riley couldn't help but chuckle as he nodded. "Sure. I don't see why not. Especially since you seem to enjoy it." It wasn't as if she was going anywhere. There might be some difficulties to work out on his end, but that was no concern of hers. And he'd technically gotten her approval to use the photos for his own purposes, right? Well, she didn't look like she'd refuse if he did ask.

Her following question earned a hum as he glanced at his camera. "A couple hours, give or take," he assured her. It depended on a couple factors like the environment he had to work with, but regardless it would not take too long. There were just some parts that could not be expedited.

A slow nod followed as she suggested bringing them to her house, a reasonable suggestion and a fairly simple answer as well. He was feeling fairly confident with this now. Her following request was both amusing as well as concerning however. Sure, he could follow it. The question was how much of an impact it would make on what they were doing.

Well, maybe he would have to be blunt after all. Arching an eyebrow as he folded his arms over his chest, he squinted at the girl. "How old are you anyway?" he asked. "If she's still your guardian then I'm going to have to ask her permission before I can use these...." he was certainly not going to set himself up for a potential lawsuit over this, not if he could help it.

Yumia was so excited that Riley said they could do this again that her beaming almost made her miss Riley’s next question. She quickly turned beet red, it was a weird question that she didn’t understand the need for, her hands twiddled with each other as her eyes darted around. She stood under him embarrassed.

“Uh, I’m 18.” Yumia looked over towards Delcatty on the boxes.
“If it is a couple hours does that mean you will come bring them tonight?” She quickly changed the subject to the pictures, her excitement over them evident that is all she could go on about.
“What could we do for another photoshoot? Could we do it soon?” She smiled.

There was a silent sigh of relief as Yumia confirmed her age. A lot of doubts the had previously had vanished upon hearing it, but she did not need to know that. Both because they were nothing for her to concern herself with, and because they were things she did not need to know. It was best for her to remain focused on the here and now, rather than the future.

"Don't worry about it," he told her, shaking his head as he did so. "It's just boring photographer stuff." It meant that this could be both for profit as well as fun.

Luma padded his way over as the duo spoke, once more winding around and brushing against Yumia's legs. He liked the attention, and wanted more of it. In the meantime, Riley considered the question anew. "I can if you want," he confirmed with a nod, planning things out in his head. assuming there weren't any difficulties, it should not be a problem for him to be done after five.

Her following question earned a hum as he tapped his foot, putting on a 'thoughtful' posture. "We should be able to," he agreed. "Maybe we can try some different clothing. I'm sure there's a cute side of you just waiting to spring out."

Yumia knelt down to Luma’s level as the Delcatty tickled her legs. She giggled knowing that the Pokemon wanted some love, she wondered if Riley gave him this much attention, but given the relationship they had she was sure they did.

“Yay, I can’t wait to see them. Make sure to come after 5, and if you do maybe I can make you dinner. Do you like fish?” She grinned up at him. She was a sweet girl, very trusting once she had a feeling for someone. She had not gotten out much beyond Slateport in her life, so the few travelers she ran into that seemed trustworthy she latched onto.

“Oh I can try on some outfits for you tonight when you come!” She seemed elated at the idea. “It will be perfect!”

"Sounds good. And I don't mind fish," Riley assured his excitable companion. "I'm sure whatever you make will be delicious." Admittedly perhaps he should not put too much faith in the cooking skills of a teenager, but he'd probably had worse than whatever she could come up with. So he wouldn't worry about it too much.

Pleased that she was also interested in the clothing idea, Riley nodded once more. "it sounds like a plan. I'll see you then. Just leave a sign out or something so I know I'm at the right place," he confirmed. They were done here, so he might as well get to having this film developed for their meeting later.

"Come on Luma." With a wave, Riley called the Delcatty over, and the two of them made their exit from the secluded spot. He made his way back towards the PokeCenter, intent on getting set up for the night and looking into getting these photographs developed. How hard could it be?

Yumia looked excited, glad to hear thst fish was good for Riley.

“You bet it will be! Its going to rock your world!” Yumia called out with a laugh as Riley began to walk away. She smiled, excited for the evening of talking about their next photoshoot. Sitting down on the boxes she previously posed behind she looked out over the harbor in bliss.

The walk to the Pokemon center would be uneventful as it was close to the secluded spot that Yumia had taken him. Its red roof was visible from nearly a block over as this part of town the buildings were not very high. As Riley approached he would see some trainers gathering outside, to prepare for afternoon adventures, it was just after lunch so many were preparing to move out to nearby spots where wild pokemon were in abundance.

Outside the doors he would see a blonde girl in twin tails giving a pep talk to her Shinx which looked a bit shaky around some of the other trainers.

If he chose to go inside the Pokemon center (which was a large office looking building right on the edge or the marina) he would find the lobby was moderate in size to pokemon centers in the world, with couches strewn throughout where trainers could sit and wait, as well as the reception desk that trainers could get their pokemon healed at or inquire about bunks.

A dark haired girl with long flowing hair left the reception desk presumably having just dropped off her pokemon. She walked by Riley giving him a quizzical glance.
