How to Care for Your Human [Gambuiness x Degu]

''Thank you but what are you doing here?'' replied Ragnar to Tyrath who seemingly appeared out of nowhere. ''Don't answer, I think I know that already. But it is good that you are here, we could use your help.'' Ragnar heard a noise from behind him, turned around and punched the face of the man that was coming, against the wall.

Matthew saw the new arrival and by his looks and the way he talked to Ragnar, he possibly was an ally. One who knew how to fight and showed no mercy. That guy was ruthless. In the moment that followed, he saw him and Serenity starring at each other. He was sure, that Serenity never saw a Santfei before this all happened but he got the impression, that in this moment something was happening between them. But before he was able to think further about this moment, a guy approached him from the side and hit him with his bat on his arm. The pain rushed thorugh his whole body but he managed to stay on his feet and fight the other guy back with his healthy arm. A moment later he managed to kick his opponent on his feet and when he bowed his upper body down, he rammed his knee into his face. ''We need to move on.''

Ragnar ran ahead and tossed people to the side who tried to step in his way, some with his arms and some with his horns on his head. They left a track of blood, unconsious and dead people behind them as they stormed forward. On their way, one of the Santfei got stabbed by a knife and wasn't able to keep up. Another one created a portal and together they disappeared through it.

After ten minutes, they git rid of anyone who was chasing them and came to a big hall. In the center of the hall was a house and Matthew saw a guy standing in front of the house and next to him was Leta. That guy must be Trevor, he held a chain in his hand which led to a collar that was attached to Letas neck. In front of him were standing twelve people, armed with knifes, axes and two even had a pistol.

Letas eyes grew wide when she saw Serenity and Matthew and the ... creatures that came with them. ''Mat'' Before she could say something Trevor pulled harshly on the chain and brought her back down on her knees. The bruises she got on her knees hurt like hell but she didn't allowed the whimper, that was coming, to leave her mouth.

"Here on orders." Grunting the answer, a small, barely noticeable smile tugged at his lips when Ragnar's fist crashed into a man's face. The violence was ongoing, and he felt the thrill of adrenaline just as Serenity did. There was so much blood, especially with the arrival of the new man, his boots caked in it while Serenity tried to avoid getting covered in it. She let out a noise of frustration and anger as she heard the bat connect with Matthew's arm, the loud crack as it hit bone only for the offensive man to go down with a fountain of blood pouring from his nose.

"That's what you fucking get." She huffed, wiping at her face and staying a good distance behind Ragnar. The sight of the Santfei tossing people carelessly aside with those dangerous horns would have been awe inspiring, if her attention hadn't been torn between the new arrival and their end goal. No, watching the newly arrived man with absurdly red hair fight his way through silently through their enemies.

"Piece of shit." An arm shot out in front of her as she stepped forward, a quiet grunt of disapproval from the red haired man. She craned her neck to look up at him, a furious look settled on her face even as he nudged her back and dropped his arm. She understood the unsaid threat, if she attempted to run forward again, he would stop her. With their size difference alone it would be easy, and the fact that he wasn't human only made it easier.

"Ragnar." Tyrath spoke up with a sigh. "Should we let the humans handle this, or do something about it? I'm only here on orders, this holds little importance to me." Even if the red haired woman near him held his intrigue. It couldn't possibly be, and yet.. There was something there, something so familiar.

Before Ragnar could answer, Matthew made a step forward and the two guys with the guns instantly raised their arms. He looked to Trevor before he started to talk. ''This is your only chance, give Leta free and we will disappear from here right away. Before you answer, I want to make a promise to you.'' Matthew was silent for a moment so that everyone around could hear what he would say next. ''We will go out from here with Leta by our side, that I promise you. It is on you to decide, if we have to burn this whole place to ashes or if you just let her go.''

Sweat was on Trevors forehead when he looked towards the invaders and finally looked towards Matthew. The fear in his eyes was visible for everyone who saw him. ''Alright, I ...'' he dropped the chain and the silence that took over the place, was filled with the sound of the steel dropping to the floor. Followed by a shot out of a gun from one of the guys, that stood between Matthews group and Trevor, whose fingers accidently triggered the gun he was holding, when he twitched at the sound of the steel, hitting the ground.

''Oh ...'' was all that Ragnar heard from behind him and as he turned around, he saw Lu with his eyes wide open. The bullet ripped apart a hole into his chest and a moment later he dropped forward to the floor. Dead.
Ragnars eyesight got blurry when he used the only spell that he ever learned. He transformed his own body and thickened his skin even further before he screamed out loudly so that everyone in the underground heard the pain he felt in this moment.

Matthew saw what had happened and knew, that not even he could do anything about it. When Ragnar then started to scream, he had to cover his ears with his hands which caused some pain from the arm, that had been hit by the bat. When the scream ended and Matthew looked back up, he saw Ragnar leaping towards the guys in front of them, impaling one of them with his horns and threw him up in the air. A jet of blood came out of the chest of the guy that was flying through the air. Ragnar already was on to the next and threw him on the floor before he kicked with the back of his boots against the skull of the man who wasn' even able to scream before his bone gave in and Ragnars shoe was inside of his head. Ragnars let his rage further out when he grabbed the next guy by his arms and rammed his horns into the mans chest and leg.

Matt heard sounds of panic from behind them and as he looked towards the house again, he saw Trevor running into the house while Ragnar held up another guy at his throat with only one hand before he ripped the mans throat out with his second hand. He was covered in blood from his head to his feet and already turned towards the next man. From behind another twenty people were showing up, ready to fight the invaders. Matthew realised, that the Santfei, who was able to cast fireballs was the one, who got stabbed and has been brought out by the portal.

"Oh for fucks' sake." Tyrath pinched the bridge of his nose, not the least bit upset at the small Santfei's corpse crumpling to the ground. What he did care about, however, was the scream that came from Ragnar's grieving form. A clawed finger went in his ear as he winced, staring in annoyance at the surrounding bloodshed. All for what, one human woman? With a shake of his head he watched the carnage, he made his way slowly after Ragnar, seemingly in no hurry.

"Calm down, Ragnar. He's already dead, there's nothing you can do about it." Serenity watched the entire ordeal with wide eyes, her hands clamped over her ears to try and drown out the noise. It was so loud it was slightly painful, and she looked around for Leta. At least she had been released, even if she was still on the ground where she had been forced. It was a start, she just had to get to her.

"Get your friend." A boot nudged at her in a surprisingly gentle manner, the red haired Santfei pointing in Leta's direction. "I'll deal with our friend who has been blinded by fury." Which was exactly what had happened to Ragnar, corpses left in his wake, his horns and body coated in blood from the deceased humans. It took a moment for her to register his words, her hands falling from her ears as she scrambled through the bloodshed and to Leta's side.

"I'm here." There was nothing she could do to remove the collar from the older woman's neck, but she could at least keep her safe. "Matthew! Over here!" There were too many people, they needed to get Leta out of there. Tyrath was still sighing in annoyance as he trekked after Ragnar, stepping over and around bodies as his own claws dug into flesh. "Ragnar!" Wiping blood from his own face as he tossed a body to the side, his eyes moved between the two women and their attackers.

"You should get your friends out of here, half breed." He grunted at Matthew. After all, he couldn't very well observe them if they were dead. Granted, he wouldn't need to at that point, but he needed time to properly see the younger woman. That hair, that fire--He needed to know. "I would be more than happy to burn this place down, but I do believe it would be frowned upon to kill any of the innocents still lingering. Perhaps the smoke will send them running out." It was a very, very tempting thought, smoke already curling up from the body he set ablaze. "It won't be a pleasant smell when I've started a pyre to get rid of these wretched creatures."

Matthew was still in awe about Ragnar, who let his rage run wild and alone took on ten man. And they stood no chance. They tried to stab him and to club him but as if his skin was made out of steel, no knife, axe or bat could do him any harm. In front of his very eyes Matt was sure to see the god of war doing what he could do best. And how he did it. He only was able to distract himself from the carnage, when the new guy suddenly was next to him and talked to him. ''Right but how do we get Ragnar out of here?'' he answered to the red haired Santfei. This new guy had a vibe to him that Matthew didn't liked but as long as he was on their side, he didn't really care.

Running to Serenity and Leta he kneeled down next to Leta. ''Are you hurt, can you move Leta?'' ''I'm okay, my pride is mostly hurt. Matthew, what is with Charles?'' Leta replied with fear in her eyes and her voice. ''Don't worry, he is save. We found him and bring you to him right away. We need to get out of here.'' Matthew took the chain and gave it to Leta, so that she could move more easy. He then looked to Serenity and felt relieved when he only saw a bit of blood on her, but that she wasn't wounded seriously. Together they went down from the porch of the house and Matthew took Serenity by the hand. Towards the remaining Santfei he called. ''Get over here, we are leaving.''

The adrenaline was still rushing through his veins as he concentrated and created the portal but the portal that appeared was different from the portals he normally created. It felt alive and he felt, that it wouldn't bring them to their wooden house but somewhere else. It wasn't even a place ... it was nowhere ... and everywhere. All of the sudden, the portal started to create a maelstrom and he felt that he was slowly pulled towards the portal. The maelstrom grew stronger by the second and Matt let the portal quickly disappear again, wondering about, what that was. The second try was a success and a normal portal appeared in front of them. The remaining Santfei disappeared through it except for Ragnar and the new guy. Next it was Leta who went through the portal.

With Serenity by his side, he checked where the both were and saw, that Ragnar just reached the last guy, it was the guy who shot Lu. The man shot every bullet he had left in his gun towards Ragnar but they just bounced of his skin. When Ragnar reached the man, he just looked down to him as Matthew heard the guy whimpering and begging for mercy. Ragnar pushed the guy once so that he landed on his ass and then Ragnar put his boot onto the chest of the man pushing him down completely. Slowly he applied more and more pressure on his chest and rib after rib broke as the screaming of the man got louder and louder until he was suddenly ... quiet. With a loud bursting sound, the ribcage of the man broke and Ragnar pushed his boot through to his heart.

Matthew saw now the other Santfei standing close to Ragnar and talking to him but didn't understood what he said. The people that stormed towards them earlier now all stepped back after they saw what Ragnar did to the guy. ''Come on, we have to get out of here.'' called Matthew towards Ragnar. Ragnar started to walk, but not towards the portal but into the opposit direction. Matthew feared, that he really will destroy this whole complex. But after a short walk, Ragnar stopped and kneeled down. He was only a few feet away from the people of the underground but no one dared to make a sound as Ragnar reached down to the ground and took the corpse of Lu into his hand. He stood back up and slowly walked towards the portal, carrying his friend carefully on his hands. Without of saying a word, Ragnar stepped through the portal.

"I'll deal with the big brute." Tyrath seemed unfazed by the destruction around them, perhaps only a little annoyed that he was essentially forced into the role of a babysitter. "You deal with yours, I'll deal with mine." It all made sense to him, and he waved a hand in Matthew's direction. "Go now." The blood that coated his face and clothing did nothing to deter him, his focus far from the state of his appearance. With the inhuman horns, tail, and ears that put him apart from humanity, there seemed little point to it, even if he still bore human legs at that moment.

"Matthew, what is that?" Serenity stared in fear at what the portal was displaying, letting out a loud gasp when it abruptly closed and reopened in the proper location. That had never happened before, at least not when she was with him.

"Ragnar, put the bloody creature out of its misery already." Tyrath stood behind him, arms crossed over his chest as his tail swung irritably behind his body. "Are you going to take his heart out and eat it, too?" Speaking sarcastically even as he made no effort to stop the other man, he watched with a frown as Ragnar moved towards Lu's body. "Ah. Very well then, let's go." A flicker of emotion passed over his face, so quickly it was almost as if it had never been present. "Go on." Waiting until Ragnar had stepped through, Tyrath motioned for the others to go first before he ducked his large frame through. "Bloody hell, you humans are vicious."

The portal vanished aftter Tyrath came through it and Matthew checked Serenity and Leta first. The tension that build up inside of him since Charles told them about Letas situation, now finally left his body when he saw Serenity and Leta standing next to each other. Both more or less doing fine. He was very aware that they paid a very high price to get their family back together and he never would have said it out loud, but he didn't felt much sorrow towards those who got injured or died in the underground. They choose to fight.
He went over to the two woman and took them in his arms, holding them close. If anyone would see the tear, that was running down his face right now, then he would tell that it is just from the pain in his arm.

Charles came running across the grass and when he saw Leta, he took her in his arms and raised her up to him before he covered her in kisses and held her close. When he sat her down again he laid his hands on her collar and Matthew saw the muscles in his arm tremble as he pulled on the collar. A moment later it broke at the point, where the lock was and he threw it away. He then turned to Matthew and Serenity, gave Matthew a hug and when he stood in front of Serenity, he took her in his arms and gave her a kiss on her cheek. When he heard what she said he just smiled and slowly put her down again.

Together with Matthew he then turned towards the Santfei who were looking at them except of Ragnar and a Barn, that started to create a portal. Charles remembered a gesture he once saw at a movie. He laid the fingertips of his hand against his mouth, then against his forehead while he bowed his head down and then held his hand in front of his head as he slowly looked back up again.

Matthew stepped towards the Santfei. ''I'm really sorry about Lu, Ragnar. Thank you for your help, I will never forget that. Thank you all.'' Ragnar looked back over his shoulder and just nod with his head once before he went through the portal and was gone. The other followed him and a moment later the portal was gone. When Matthew turned around and returned to his family, he remembered this unknown Santfei, the one that said, that humans are vicious and he realised, that he didn't saw him stepping through the portal with the other Santfei.

"It's alright. We made it." Pressing her forehead against Matthew as he held them, Serenity let out a relieved sigh now that they were back. The physical comfort was short lived however, as Charles swept in and pulled Leta from them. She couldn't blame him at all, and their reunion was exactly what she had imagined. Even sweeter, perhaps. The kiss on her cheek wasn't so shocking, and she merely smiled and nodded her head at Charles before her attention was diverted. The Santfei, of course.

"I'm sorry, Ragnar." It was all that she could muster, but it was something, and a hint of sadness flickered over her face as the men went through the portal. All but one, she quickly realized, her shoulders tensing as she slowly turned towards the man. His eyes were focused on her, a strange expression on his face as he tilted his head. All in all, he was easily Matthew's height, although his horns gave just a bit of additional height.

"Elena?" He shook his head, a hand rubbing at his face in aggravation. "You're not Laney, but you look just like--" He let out a startled noise at the heat rushing over his skin, staring down at the fire Serenity had flung at him without hesitation. Rather than burn him, however, it moved in tune with his will and was quickly extinguished.

"How do you know my mother?" She stared at him warily, another ball of fire seated in her hand even as she inched closer to Matthew. "How do you know her name?" Who was this man? "Come any closer and I'll set you on fire." Tyrath snorted, shaking his head as a small smile graced his face.

"Where is she? Where is my Laney?" His Laney? Serenity's face showed her obvious confusion, the fire fading away from her hand as she tried to put the pieces together. It couldn't possibly be, could it? No, it couldn't. With a deep, shaky breath, she crossed her arms over her chest and stared at the man who shared her hair color.

"Matthew, who is this? Why didn't he go back with Ragnar?" Would Matthew even know, or was she simply grasping at thin air for an explanation? Likely the latter of the two, but she was trying to center herself with something, anything that would make sense.

Matthew understood nothing of what was happening between Serenity and this Santfei but when she threw a fireball at him, his instincts kicked in and he started to see that guy as a threat. But what followed only made him more clueless about the whole situation. That guy knew Serenitys mother? His look switched between Serenity and the guy and the tension between them was immense. But he also recognised their similaritys. Not just the hair but also the aggressive way they talked to each other. It was an attitude thing, at least he thought that.

''Stop!'' said Matthew and took a step towards Serenity. He had seen what this guy did with the people who stood in his way and didn't wanted to be the next in line. He looked towards the Santfei and felt his look on himself. How did the saying go? If a look could kill people? ''I am very grateful that you helped us at the underground. But who are you and how come that you know Serenitys mom?''
They guy send shivers down his spine with the way he stood there and ogled them all. Charles also came and stood next to Serenity, ready to protect her if necessary.

"Watch your tongue." Tyrath's tail beat against the ground as he growled, refusing to remove his eyes from Serenity. "I did not kill those men for you. Just following orders." And keeping an eye on Ragnar. Poor bastard. That could be dealt with later, however, his current task was to find out what the hell he was staring at. Or rather, who. "Your mother. Where is she?"

"She's dead." The loud thudding stopped abruptly, the shock clear on Tyrath's face as he staggered back. He shook his head, steadying himself before narrowing his eyes at Serenity. "She died years ago. Who are you, that you knew her enough to call her yours?" The two stared at each other again before Tyrath's eyes flickered to the others and then returned to Serenity.

"You are my daughter. The child I never met. This has been a long time coming. You look so much like your mother." Serenity shifted closer to Matthew again, grabbing at his hand as she shook her head. It couldn't be, but it made sense. The hair, the sudden ability to use fire.. It all pointed to him speaking the truth. "Two halfbreeds in the same place. This is.. Not what I expected to find."

Matthew held Serenitys hand while he tried to process, what the guy in front of him just said. He is her father ... The words of Ragnar came to his mind, when he told him about his brother and their parents. 'There never was a romantic bond between a Santfei and a human as far as we are aware of.' If what Ragnar said was true, then it must be extremly rare that a Santfei and a human got together and even more rare, that they got children. So what are the chances, that two half human, half Santfei meet each other? On the other hand, maybe that is the explanation for the connection he shared with Serenity.

From behind Charles, Leta appeared and stepped between them. She was still a bit shaky after all that happened and didn't understood what was going on. She looked to Serenity and Matthew and a weak smile appeared on her lips when she saw, how close they were. Then she turned her gaze to ... what even is he? He doesn't look human, just like most of the others that came with Serenity and Matthew to get her back.

''I don't know what was going on here, while I wasn't here but it feels, like I missed a lot. But it is dark, it is getting cold and we are still standing outside.'' She turned to Tyrath and looked to him from bottom to top. She wasn't afraid of him or his attitude, she knew a bad person when he was in front of her. This one is bitter but not bad. At least not only bad. ''Wether it was on order or for another reason, thank you, I mean it. I think we have a lot to talk about and this is not the right place. Behind me is this lovely house, why don't we go and talk there? And maybe someone is so kind and enlightens me about what is going on here.''

She turned around and went to Serenity. ''If it is true what he says, then hear what he has to say before you burn him to a crisp.'' Leta took Serenity into her arms and gave her a long hug. Leaning her mouth to her ear she whispered. ''I am so sorry, that I left you alone in that night, honey. Please forgive me my selfish desires.''

"Ah, the source of all this drama." Tyrath stared curiously at Leta, although there was no malice in his gaze, no threat. His head tilted slightly as he focused on her, trying to determine a proper opinion of her. "We are outside." He nodded in agreement, eyes going to the sky as it continued to grow darker. There was still blood all over his clothing, as well as the clothing of the others, so he was in no hurry to track it everywhere. "I will be sleeping outside, however." He grunted in acknowledgment to her thanks, but made no further comment on the matter.

"Don't apologize, you did what you needed to. I'm glad you weren't there for anyone to hurt you." There was no point in going into detail over what had happened that night, not then. Perhaps later, if it came up in conversation. "Let's go inside. I do believe our new guest should wash some of the blood from himself." She wrinkled her nose, staring back at Tyrath who only gave her an amused look. It was just blood, after all. Still, he followed obediently into the house, ducking into the bathroom to stare at himself in the mirror. There was a lot of blood.

With a shake of his head, he turned on the faucet and started to wash it from his face, doing the best that he could even as his head spun. A daughter. His daughter that he had searched for, for decades. His Laney.. Dead. The pain in his chest nearly sent him staggering, hands gripping tightly onto the sink as he growled. The sound could be heard outside of the bathroom, Serenity's head turning towards it as she rubbed at her own face.

"This is insane. What are we going to do now?" The sound of a throat clearing came from several feet away as Tyrath emerged, arms crossed over his chest. His eyes moved between the group of people before settling on Matthew, eyebrow lifting curiously.

"I am curious as to your parentage.. You are not weak, and clearly you are protecting.." His face twisted as he looked to Serenity. "Serenity. Your mother had good taste in names. I only wish I had been able to find the two of you sooner, but there is nothing that can be done about that now."

Matthew didn't really know what to do with the situation, they found themself in and Serenity seemed to have the same thoughts, as he looked over to her and saw the look on her face. Looking over to Tyrath after he had asked him about his parentage, he looked to the Santfei and was still impressed by his looks. Though something seemed to be off and he needed a moment, until he figured it out. The other Santfei, that were a Barn as him like Adam, didn't had human legs, their legs resembled those of an ox or a horse with hoofes.

''I can't tell you anything about my birth parents. My earliest memories are with my adopted parents. In addition, until a few days ago I had no idea that Santfei even existed. Ragnar informed Serenity and me just recently about everything. May I ask, why you left Serenity and her mom alone? But before you answer, I need at least to wash my hands and face.'' He looked over to Serenity, who also had blood on her arms and in her face. ''Wanna come with me?''

Together with Serenity he went to the bathroom and they both washed their arms and faces until the blood was completely gone. When they were done, he turned to her and took her hands into his. ''Are you ok? This must be a lot for you to take in.''

Leta couldn't help but to smile when she saw Serenity and Matthew leaving the living room together. There was something between them, that wasn't there before. But as soon as she heard the door to the bathroom closing, the smile disappeared from her face and she turned her face towards Tyrath. ''Listen, cause I will tell you this only once. I hope that there is a damn good reason, why you left your daughter alone. In the short time since she is with us, she really grew close to my heart. So if you are playing games, or if you hurt my little girl, then I promise you, that I will hurt you. I don't care who or what you are or if you can fight or throw around with fire, I WILL HURT YOU. Have I made myself clear? But if you decide to be a good father for her and give her what she would have deserved for all those years, then we can become really good friends.'' The smile returned to her face the moment, when she heard the door to the bathroom open again and Serenity and Matthew returned to the others.

Matthew had some questions on his mind that he wanted to ask Tyrath and looked to him as he started to speak. ''Since you asked me about my parentage, I guess that you have no clue either about them. But Ragnar told me also, that I have a brother. Do you know him?'' Before he continued to ask more questions, something else came to his mind. ''By the way...'' he said towards the others, ''does anyone have a good idea, where we could live for the next time? We can't return to the city currently and this house here is not big enough for all of us.''

"I did not--" Tyrath sighed, rubbing at his face as Serenity and Matthew disappeared. While he could have listened in, he gave them their privacy to clean off while he stood there awkwardly. A daughter. His daughter, the only thing left of his beloved Elena. His Elena who was gone from the world, who he would never see again while he still breathed. Shaking his head, he let out a heavy sigh.

"It's.. Very confusing." Serenity shrugged, glad to finally have the blood gone from her hands. "I didn't know anything about my father, and my mother rarely talked about him." Finding out she was only half human was shocking enough, but being face to face with the man who had fathered her was another thing entirely. "I need time to process this. It sounds like Leta is out there talking to him, anyway." She couldn't quite hear it, and was far too tired to even try.

"I never met my daughter." Tyrath stared back at Leta without flinching, a hint of amusement mixed into the confusion that hadn't faded yet. "I do not have to explain myself to you, but seeing how determined you are to make your point, I will. I was pulled away on a mission, and when I returned, my woman had been sold off due to her pregnancy. I have spent almost thirty years looking for them, only to find out the only woman I ever loved is dead." He shrugged, head turning towards the reemerging couple.

"I know of your brother. I believe I've met him in passing, but I have met many people." He nodded to Matthew. "It is already late, tonight, but I will see what I can do in the morning." He glanced at Serenity a bit uneasily. There was no way in hell he was letting his newfound daughter slip away just after he'd discovered her. No, he would state his piece to their leader, make his point. One way or another, she was coming back with him.

Leta stood up together with Charles. ''Thank you all for what you did today for me. I haven't really slept in the last few days and could really do with a handful of sleep. This all is getting way to confusing for me and I only understand half of what you say. Matthew, we both need to talk tomorrow, I need some explanation for this all here.'' Matthew smiled towards Leta, happy that she was back with them all and that they finally were complete again. ''Sure, you two take the bed. We talk tomorrow.'' replied Matthew. A moment later the door to the bedroom was closed and Serenity, Tyrath and Matthew were alone.

The silence that followed felt a bit awkward. ''If there is something you could do regarding our situation, that would be very nice. It is not just, that the house is too small, it officially belongs to Leta and Charles. I think that it will only be a matter of time before this organisation finds out, where we are and I would like to be somewhere else when that happens.'' said Matthew towards Tyrath.

The day and everything they just experienced together took it's toll on Matthew as he felt the exhaustion getting stronger and stronger. In addition he still had to take care of his arm somehow. Too bad that a magical healer can't heal himself. To inject his own magic into him would only make the wound worse. If he already felt exhausted, he couldn't even imagine how Serenity must feel in this moment, after she received such news. He turned to Serenity and took her hand into his. ''Do you want a moment with your father alone? I could go outside for a bit.''

"Good night, Leta, Charles." Serenity nodded to them, turning her attention back to the two men in the room before chewing on her lip. It was so much to take in, almost too much, and her head was spinning from everything. Tyrath opened his mouth to speak before pausing and then nodded. He seemed to be thinking over something in his head, eyes moving around the room before he nodded again.

"I make no guarantees, but we will see." It would be tricky to navigate the conversation of bringing them to the hideout, especially after Lu's death. They would surely be blamed, there was no doubt in his mind about that. If there was a way he could show they were no threat, that they were worth taking in.. Revealing his daughter to his people would be a shock enough on its own, and he needed to make sure no one would attack her. Just the thought sent a wave of anger through him, and he took a deep breath before speaking again.

"Serenity." She flinched at Tyrath's voice but nodded to Matthew, giving him a tight lipped smile but inclining her head towards the door. It was her way of saying she would be alright, and she waited impatiently until he was outside before returning her attention to her father. "I did not know." His voice was calm despite the emotions warring inside, and he took up a lean against the wall. "I came back for your mother and found out she had been sold for carrying you. I have been searching for your entire life. I had no idea where to look, and it was agonizing searching for my mate, my woman." She stared at him before frowning, shaking her head furiously.

"You left her. Do you have any idea how they treated her--Treated us?! You left her, it's your fault that this all happened." While a small, nearly dormant part of her said that she wouldn't have met Matthew otherwise, the other part of her was furious, sad, and altogether overwhelmed with the situation. "You did this!" Her voice was risen to a shout before she forced herself to lower it, but only for Charles and Leta. "And you just expect me to welcome you with open arms after everything her and I went through?!" He mirrored her frown, rubbing at his face with a weary sigh.

"No, daughter, I do not. I cannot change the past, but I am here now, and I will do what I can to honor the memory of your mother." He jerked a thumb towards the door. "Him. Do you trust him?" She looked startled, the expression clear on her face before she answered without any hint of doubt in her voice.

"Yes."

As soon as Leta heard Charles closing the door of the bedroom behind her, she turned to him and gave him a long kiss. Charles lifted her up into his arms and carried her to bed, where he laid down on her as they started to make out. ''We have to be really quiet.'' said Leta to him as she enjoyed to have her love back by her side. Charles made a gesture that showed, that he wouldn't say a word which brought a smile to Letas face. ''You know what I mean.'' Charles just smiled as he pulled his shirt over his head and started to remove the clothes from Letas body.

When Serenity gave him the sign, Matthew quickly went to the kitchen and grabbed a kitchen towel before he left the house. He didn't want to accidently listen to something, that they would talk about so he went a few feet towards the forest until he came to a tree, where he sat down and leaned against it. He had to take care of the bone in his left arm. He wasn't sure if it broke through during the fight in the underground or just was bruised. Until now he was able to mostly ignore the pain that came from it, trying to keep the others from worrying. As long as he didn't put any pressure on the wounded part of his arm and didn't moved it too much, it was ok. But he knew, that if the bone was broken, he would have to fixate it. At least until he can show it to a doctor or another magician, that can heal.

He took one of the branches, held it against his arm and with his remaining fingers and his teeth, he put the towel around it and made a knot. As he applied more and more pressure to the bone, the pain grew bigger and bigger until he heard a cracking sound coming from his arm. So it was broken, and now both ends of the bone were in line again. As soon as the bones were in line again, the pain became less, with this he would at least be able to sleep. The whole procedure took care, that he was sweating heavily as he felt the exhaustion taking over. Serenity and her father needed some time for themself, they would let him know when he could return. Until then, he would just rest his eyes a little. They ... were ... really ... heavy...

"Good." Tyrath nodded, seeming content with the answer. "I just hope he is worthy of protecting you." He had been absent for her entire life, and if he could not be present for the entirety of it from now on, someone needed to be able to protect her. That gave him pause, a question lingering in his mind. How long would she live for, only being half Santfei? It caused him discomfort as he sighed, holding up a hand to stop her from further raging.

"It is late. We will speak more tomorrow. I will go and sleep outside, you and your friend stay in here. I will keep guard." He was already out the door before she could say anything, but she was quick to follow. Not for him, but in search of Matthew. She found him a bit away, a branch and towel around his arm. She frowned, taking in his exhausted state.

"Matthew." Speaking his name quietly, she reached out to touch his shoulder. "It is late. Our guest is sleeping outside, he said he will keep guard. We should go inside and get some sleep while we can." There was no telling what might happen, and if they didn't try to recover at least someone, things would get even messier. "Come on."

Matthew heard Serenitys voice as he woke up from his nap. By the way how he still felt, he hasn't slept very much. ''Hey, give me a second.'' Leaning on his healthy arm, he slowly stood up and together with Serenity, he went back to the house. He saw Tyrath disappearing between the trees and wondered, what it was with the Santfei sleeping outside? Ragnar and Lu did the same.

Back inside, he went to the bathroom once again to wash his face once more before he returned to the couch where Serenity was waiting for him. ''Same like last night?'' he asked her with a grin on his face before they both laid down and cuddled close to each other on the couch. He didn't asked Serenity about the conversation with her father, if she wants to talk about that with him, she would surely do it.
Holding her close to him with his healthy arm, he gave her a kiss on her head as he already began to drift to sleep again. ''Good night Serenity.''

TYRATH

The sun was barely up when he woke, blinking and yawning as the light danced against his face. It was, once again, far too early to be awake. A necessity, unfortunately. The sooner that he woke, the sooner he could return home and begin his task. The sooner that he could attempt to talk some sense into the others, which was going to be difficult. It would have been far easier if not for Lu's death, but word of Ragnar's rampage would have spread upon his return, even if not for the body of their lost Santfei.

"Fuck." He wasted no time in creating a portal and leaving, listening to the quiet sounds of other Santfei that were beginning their days. How they managed to be awake and happy about it so early was beyond him, they were so strange. With a shake of his head as he started towards his destination, he paused a short distance away. It was going to be a rough morning, and he had no idea if the man was even going to be awake. His wife and children, surely. With a soft sigh as he mentally prepared himself, Tyrath reached the door and knocked gently. "I need Ragnar. Wake the beast if he's not already up."

Leta

Leta woke up still naked and held by Charles. The sun was starting to rise so she stood up from the bed and closed the curtains in front of the window before they would wake Charles or keep her from falling asleep again. She needed to quickly visit the toilet before she could think about to sleep again. Putting Charles shirt on her body was enough for the short way out of the bedroom and to the bathroom. When she left the bedroom, she saw Matthew lying on the couch and to her surprise, Serenity was lying next to him, all cuddled up. She couldn't help but to smile as she saw the two lying there, so close to each other. As quiet as possible, she did what she had to do in the bathroom and returned to Charles before she fell asleep again with a big smile on her face.

Ragnar

Fenix, Ragnar's second son opened the door and looked to Tyrath as his eyes grew bigger. Turning around he called loudly, ''Sam, Anna come here, it is Tyrath.'' He turned back to Tyrath with a huge smile on his face as the other two came running. ''Can you show us how to be a great spy Ty?'' ''Can we play hide and seek?'' said the kids and Anna, the youngest, just came closer and hugged him, or rather his leg since she still was small and just reached up to Tyrath knee.
''Kids, leave him alone.'' called Sascha as she came from behind the kids and tried to get the kids back into the house and away from Tyrath. She looked into his eyes as she said. ''Ragnar told me everything, that happened.'' she just nod to him, there were no words necessary to express her gratitude for what he did. It was how they always talked, less words, more meaning.

''I'm here.'' Ragnar came around and gave Sascha a kiss. ''Excuse me for a moment, I'll be right back.'' Towards Tyrath he said, ''Let us walk a bit, I could need some fresh air.'' Ragnar stepped outside and slowly walked away from his house. He just walked alongside Tyrath and waited that he would start to talk.

"Here we go again." Muttering under his breath as the small girl wrapped around his leg, he shook it slightly even as a smile pulled at his face. "Knew there was a reason I made sure your father got back in one piece." Despite the cold front that everyone else received, the children had earned a place in his heart. He was far more lenient with them, indulging in odd requests and games if only to humor them. Ragnar and Sascha's children had grown rather fond of him over time, and he, them.

"Yes, let us walk." He nodded firmly, giving Sascha a small nod before starting off with Ragnar. It was going to be a difficult topic to broach, especially with Lu's death so recent. "You surely are angry with the humans for Lu's death. I'm going to be blunt with you." He paused, running a hand through his hair in a nervous gesture that was unlike him. "They are not safe. I want them here, but I need your help to talk to our leader." Another pause, a conflicted expression sitting on his face. "The woman, the red head. She's my daughter, Ragnar. My Elena's daughter."

''I was angry with the humans yes but now ... I don't know. Lu was my friend you know, he was crazy and loud but I could always count on him.'' Ragnar slowly kept on walking and enjoyed the morning sun on his skin. ''I remember that you told me once about her and asked me, to keep an eye open for her.'' He couldn't help but to laugh silently. ''I should have known that she is your daughter, it is so obvious now, that you mention it. Do you remember what you did when you saw Lu for the first time? You nearly burned him right away. And now guess what your daughter nearly did when she saw Lu for the first time.'' Ragnar stood still for a moment and looked up to the sky, missing his friend.

Ragnar thought about, if he still thought that it is a good idea, to bring them here. Especially now after Lu's death, the Santfei here wouldn't welcome them very much. But they would be safe ... the thought brought back a memory of Lu and him, how they split up after they spend the night with Matthew and Serenity. ''I will help you. Before I had the idea to bring them here, Lu already had thought about that too, to bring them here. Like always, he was one step ahead. If we let them die now, then everything we did ... Lu did was for nothing. He was the first who had the idea to bring them here ... let's bring them here Tyrath.''

"I know." Tyrath nodded solemnly. "She did that, really?" He raised an eyebrow, snorting with laughter as he paused. He felt for Ragnar, for his mourning, but in the end it was none of his concern. He himself did not have friends, so much as acquaintances, so the concept was a bit different to him. Ragnar was one of the few Santfei that he respected enough to speak to properly, to watch his back and make sure he stayed alive.

"With you making the argument with me, I hope that he will listen. I may have been absent for this long, but I won't allow my child to be harmed. Although I fear what her sister may do when she learns of her existence." He smiled wryly, trying to imagine what his full blooded daughter would do in response to meeting his halfblood one. "But that is a matter for when it occurs. Let us speak to our leader and see what we can do. For my daughter, for Lu, and for the future of this world."

SERENITY

Blinking awake with a quiet yawn, Serenity quickly realized that she was still on the couch with Matthew. He was still soundly asleep, which she was thankful for. His arm was clearly injured, badly, and he was exhausted. She was exhausted as well, but not in the same manner. It was with great care that she slipped away from him, untangling herself and tiptoeing away from the couch. It was early, but not absurdly so now. Coffee was still a necessity, however.

She made her way into the kitchen groggily, fixing her shorts and running a hand through her hair. Her fingers lingered at the tops of her shoulders, remembering the tattoo that not sat between them. It was something else that would have to be dealt with, but it seemed less important than finding out where they would be staying. Housing first, randomly appearing tattoo second.
