The moment Ava heard that name, a name she hadn't heard in a long time, she felt her blood run cold and a deep swell of hatred fill her BUT, Yumi was there and she wasn't going to risk destroying the one saving grace she had for her own greed and thirst for vengeance. She'd killed the Master who had taken everything from her but now she was literally arms reach from the male who'd just stood by and let it happen. Keeping her eyes locked on the road she debated on how to bring this little surprise to his attention. If he really did hold that kind of regret, then she was sure he'd remember vividly every crime and evil deed that man did whether he wanted those memories or not. Screams of the innocent had a way of burning their way into your memory and never leaving.
So, when they stopped to make camp that night, Ava had gone out of her way to stay as far from Mochi as physically possible without giving too much away. Anyone who'd seen combat knew when someone was looking at them with malicious intent. It was a sort of six sense, being able to sense danger and hostility just from the way someone looked at you. It was a skill she'd honed and learned the hard way so she was sure the ex Samurai had learned this skill as well.
Ava did take Yumi with her to hunt. Not necessarily to trap anything, just to show her how to track something. She'd scouted the forest a bit before hand to make sure there weren't any real dangers then went out with her. After showing her how to track small creatures, she showed her some of the safe places animals would hide and how to sneak up on the spots if need be. When they returned to the camp, Yumi smiled as she began excitedly explaining the things she'd learned about tracking to Mochi.
"Maybe we can go tracking and hunting together next time?"
She asked him as Ava busied herself with sharpening one of her daggers. She couldn't look at him, not yet. When he went hunting with Yumi, that's when she'd get him on his own...or when they were at another Inn, somewhere that they could put Yumi and know she'd be safe.
