She distanced herself. Ava was so beautiful, so wealthy, probably more of a 'lady' too. She couldn't bring herself to see him, not after how badly she hurt him.
He would try to text her but never had the courage to hit send. So he just sat at the bar with his booze and his smokes and just hoped, prayed, that she would come and talk to him.
Any time they bumped into eachother was painful and awkward at best. She would run and hide, sometimes just go home for the day. This was going on for months.
He started to become more cold and distant to the employees. He didn't care anymore. There was no joy for him anymore. May as well become who his father wanted. He let Ava hang on him and talk his ear off but he never held an actual conversation. A lot of grunts and humming.
"Ayani," He stopped her before she left, "May I speak to you after your shift?" He was trying to sound hard and cold, but he failed; he just sounded like he was trying not to cry.
He turned back to his drink and glared down at it. "Ava, go home."
"But, Maggie~!"
"Go. Home." He growled down at her and she pouted before storming off.
He sat quietly for a moment, "I wanted to thank you for everything you do around the casino floor. You're a valuable team member." Oh, God, she really was going to lose her job.
"I would like to thank you for the opportunities you've given me, and I apologize for whatever it is that I have done to warrant my termination." She said. Her voice wavered as she set her uniform down on his desk and went to leave.
