Ahhh, suiters, the bane of any free princesses party. Couldn't one be held with out having them show up??? But that was why guards were about, to take pressure off the girl and add support for when she didnt want to do a thing. If need be, once or twice the commander had danced with the young lady while Will was guarding doors. But it was his turn now to take a major role in the nights festivities. Her escort and relief if she needed it.
He also didnt fear repercussions for this; having no time for a girl of his own, the only thing he would need to mind was manners and his closeness... plus drink meter...
 
"Perhaps that prince from the Southern Isles will show up." the handmaiden teased the young princess, who just shook her head then spoke, "God I hope not. That boy doesn't understand no means no." Yeah that was usually when the commander had come to dance with her in the past, all because of this young prince. Yet again that had been a number of years ago. Hopefully by now the male had grown up somewhat.
Lunaria was making a comment that she wanted to wear her dark purple gown and to lay it out for her. "I just need to take these herbs up to the tower." she commented and her handmaiden was giving a nod of her head before she was wandering off.
The handmaiden did pause for a moment before she spoke, "Sir William, if you would follow me as well." Nope she had to make sure that the young man was properly outfitted as well, especially now that he had been named as her guard. Which meant that he just got a special pin that kind of signified it, but this was something that she usually presented. After doing her own examination to make sure she actually agreed with the king and queen's decision.
Yeah, Kana, was quite protective of her princess as well, and was rather open to voicing to the king and queen when there were concerns. But over the years they had gotten use to it, and trusted the word of the handmaiden. Kana was only two years old than the young princess, but either way... the pair saw each other as close friends and sisters. There wasn't anything Kana wouldn't do for her lady.
 
Ms Kana was known to the guards as well; her opinions on medical treatments and such a concern of hers. "Ma'am." A bobbed head to the young lady call but he looked back to the wandering princess. "Im quite sorry, Ms Kana. I have to keep an eye on the princess. I'll catch up to you when she returns from the tower."
He also knew that she didnt really like no... but it was his job as he scurried away and back to Miss Lunas side. He could change fast later when the princess was changing her outfit.
 
Kana just looked over for a moment in time before she was snickering a bit then she spoke, "Meet me outside of the princess' chambers then when you return." After that she was turning and heading off so that she could get the dress laid out, and was speaking with a couple of the other guards, joking around with them.
It didn't take Lunaria long at all to drop the stuff off and she was just looking towards Will before she commented, "You know something. Kana totally likes you. And I so think you two would be so cute together." With that she was giggling and running off down the hallway, towards her chambers.
There was the childlike princess that always seemed to come out right before balls, which actually had Kana just shaking her head a bit when the 21 year old woman ran up. "Luna, you really need to act your age." Kana sighed and just chuckled a bit. This had Lunaria chuckling before she was disappearing into her chambers so that she could get ready.
"Kana! You'll be joining me tonight. So you need to pick out a dress as well." Lunaria called out.
Oh man this was definitely not how Kana had been expecting the night to go. But there was no protesting against it. Good thing she was use to joining the ball as a party-goer. But it was probably a good thing, at least then Lunaria wasn't alone if she felt like disappearing off to the restroom. Not like the male guards could follow her, and this allowed Kana to be a bit closer to the guys that were around her princess.
 
(......but they were supposed to be together, I don't wanna break poor Kanas heart o-o)

A 'moment please' finger went up to the hand maid upon the princess's return, but she was whisked away in to the woman chambers.
Ok so he had a lot to process... Ms Kana likes him? That was... interesting... Other then head bobs passing in the hall upon her way through, Will had never really talked to her for long. Strange.
He stayed still at her door though, lost in his head. Eyes only shifting as a few servants bustled about carrying items; oh look a bag.. he had that bag.... and those shoes... Wait! They were his stuff! He finally wizened up to the situation.
"Hey! Thats my stuff!"
"We know, you are getting moved up here." One butler said holding fresh folded bed linens.
Then Will remembered what the King had said....
"Oh, right..."
 
Kana just watched for a brief moment in time before she was giving a small giggle when she heard Will react to the butlers hurrying past with his stuff. Yeah it seemed like he had forgotten that his stuff was being moved up near the princess' room. Basically he was getting the commander's old room, and the commander was getting to move to a different wing in the palace.
With that she was revealing the pin that she had with her and was handing it off towards Will before she spoke, "Wear this tonight. It is to symbolize that you are the princess' guard. Otherwise others may question why a random guard would be coming to ask her to dance, should it come to that."
"Kana! Come on! I need help! You need to get dressed, and Will needs to change!" Lunaria spoke as she popped her head out of the room which had Kana just giving a nod of her head before she was commenting to Will that he should probably go and get ready for the night.
God knows that guests liked to arrive early, and they had actually wasted a number of hours already that evening. The ball started in a couple of hours.
 
Oh the poor guards head, holding it and following the servants to the new room. Far bigger then his guard room... all his stuff looked extremely small.
The servants had already laid a better suit out for him, with a chest cover armor. In a few minutes, Will looked far spiffier in this uniform then his others, pin secured on his left side. He was quite ready to go back to the young ladies side though as he returned to the door.
 
While Will was getting ready for the ball, as were the two young ladies. When they were dressed and their hair was ready the pair were walking out of the bedroom. Lunaria was dressed in a beautiful purple dress and had her hair pulled up into an elegant updo. She seemed quite comfortable in the gown that she was wearing, moving in it with ease despite how poofy it was.
"Lady Luna.... I really shouldn't be wearing one of your gowns." Kana mumbled from the doorway, refusing to come out of the bedroom. She was a servant, yet she was wearing one of the princess' gowns. Usually when she had attended in the past she had just worn one of her own dresses. She just happened to own a couple of nice ones.
But nope this time Lunaria had insisted that she wear one of her dresses. And soon enough Lunaria was just coming into the room and drawing Kana out with her, a few of the other servants that were around complimenting the both of them.
"I love you but I'm pretty sure that love has turned into hatred now." Kana mumbled to Lunaria, who was just giggling before the princess was commenting, "Maybe that cute prince you were talking with the last ball will come back."
"Oh no! He was convinced that I was some noble. And I'm definitely not." Kana spoke with a shake of her head which just had Lunaria looking at the other young woman for a moment in time before the princess was speaking, "Kana. Birthrights don't dictate who you fall in love with. They never have."

Will had to consciously close his mouth to the stunning pair that exited the room. This was no accidentally dress pickage- she seemed to know what colors hit the right buttons. WAIT; Brain bad! That wasn't for him!

Then again, this night might not even be for the princess; she acting like a match maker between her hand maid and some prince she mentioned on the exit.
"Majesty has a point." Will was finally able to speak after stare at the young ladies. "Birth rights shouldn't matter. Beside, you are high enough in rank if you are even remotely close to the princess in this manner... Maybe not by true title... but in rank."

His bad brain from earlier returned; reminding him of what he just said. Had he any inkling of a chance with a higher birth; he'd be a consort, not a king.
By rank title only would he be able to rule at ones side, but if his blood was ACTUALLY royal, Then would a royal title be proposed.
 
Kana looked over towards Will for a moment in time before she was just hiding behind her hands for a moment in time, although was giving a slight yelp when Lunaria was nudging her in the side.
"Shoulders back, held high. You already know that mom and dad have always seen you as a second daughter." Lunaria pointed out after a moment in time before she was just turning on her heel and gliding off. This had Kana just watching and was mumbling that she was grateful that the dress she was wearing was long. Nobody would know that Kana was wearing flats... actually nobody would learn that Lunaria herself was also wearing flats.
Screw wearing heels for hours on end.

Following with ease of practice behind his commander; it was only when They got to the lower doors did he switch spots with Kana. Offering his arm to hold so she had a higher air to her upon her name being called. Ignoring it was a fine answer too; but which ever, he was ready to serve the young lady tonight.
 
When they got to the doors, Kana was stepping aside so that Will could stand next to Lunaria at that point in time. No it was commander that ended up coming up to her side instead to escort her into the ballroom, which was perfectly fine by her.
Soon enough she was looking towards Lunaria as the princess' name was announced and suddenly Lunaria was taking William's hand, before gliding into the ballroom.
 
Twisting collar a bit looser, William was a proper height and soldier; Left foot first to match the woman's pace.
The rooms were CROWDED this evening. Who knew whom each guest was; even better to be near, in case of assassins infesting the people. He was fine with the people; quiet as he let the girl take her rounds, bobbing his head when greeted.
They passed up a few dances in favor of talking and eating the food, but it was going to happen eventually.... Even the commander and Kana were on the dance floor.
 
Well no shock that the rooms were crowded with people, and as usual she was having to go around and basically greet everybody. But that was something that she was perfectly fine with. The beginning of the night always started with her just relaxing, eating and talking with people, although eventually she was going to have to go and dance.
Hell already she saw Kana out on the dance floor with the commander, for the time being anyways. It wouldn't be long before the pair of them would get spirited away by others.
Lunaria was just looking up when a figure approached them, but found that it was only her father. Oh yes their usual father-daughter dance.
 
"Sir." William bowed himself a step back. It was high time for the girl to actually get on that dance floor. "Thank you again for this new position, your Highness." he offered his thanks, stepping aside from the girls side for the first time all night. Thank goodness he only was sipping his drink, and no trouble in the form of unwanted attention came to her.
 
Lunaria was just looking towards her father for a moment in time before she was getting to her feet, and giving a curtsy when he offered a dance. She was taking his hand and soon enough they were gliding out onto the dance floor. This had a number of people just stepping away from the dance floor.
Kana herself was gliding over to the table of food and was getting a drink to sip at, just watching the princess dance with her father at that point in time.
 
"Grow up so fast." The Commander commented the young princess... and his servant boy now Eilte guard. "I find it a bittersweet memory knowing what I do." he was poured a large glass of Brandy and settled at the hand maids side. Commander Eric had a wife at home, waiting for him to come back, but this was his duty for the night- Protect.
 
Kana was just looking over towards the commander for a mome t before she was giving a slight grin. "Commander. When you are done with your drink. Would you mind accompanying me outside?" She questioned. The girls had planned something for him, nothing major. Just inviting his wife to ball, and the king had been okay with it. This would tell the commander that he had the rest of the night free to do as he pleased. He deserved.
Kana nipped on a dessert cake although she did look up at the announcement of a royal in particular. Oh the pain in the ass Lunaria couldn't stand. Hopefully he had grown up, but it really didnt look like it at all.
 
Eric looked to the princess he was tasked to guard then to the hand maid whom's company he was allowed to keep tonight. A nod to the girl and a gesture to the drink maker, a short "Please watch this for me." Which was covered in a small napkin and set to the back of the table.
"Lead the way, Ms Freem." He gestured gently with his now freed hand and offered the other for her pleasure.

There was a squeeze on his coat arm and the Princess and some of the guests looked up to the stairs entering the place from the outside. Oh... lovely.... A deep breathe from his chest and Will patted the princesse's hand for comfort. "Feel free to lie, Majesty. I bet he'd get a laugh hearing Im a suitor." He whispered to the young lady, hoping faces in jewelry and not guards were all the bastard saw.
 
Lunaria just looked towards Will for a moment in time, and was just looking towards the male as he entered. "We'll see if he has grown up at all." she spoke after a moment in time before she was giving a light shrug of her shoulders. Nope she would be able to deal with him that night. Besides it helped that neither of her parents really liked the prince at all either.
She was looking over as a young lady was coming up and asking Will for his hand in a dance, which had Lunaria telling him to have fun before she was gliding off to dance with another.

Kana just gave a light smile when it seemed like he had decided to go with her, which had her getting to her feet and taking his offered hand, before she was gliding outside with him. She headed towards the garden area before she was letting go of his hand, and just dancing away towards the fountain before she cooed, "This was planned by the princess and I, with the permission of their majesties the king and queen."
It wasn't long before a woman was coming out from a more hidden area, although covered still in case it were to start raining on that beautiful night. It was Eric's wife, and she was dressed in a beautiful sapphire blue dress, her hair up in an elegant updo.
"As of now. You have no need to worry about the Princess. For the rest of the night, and these are the king's orders, you are to enjoy the night with your wife. A thank you for being a wonderful commander, also the queen says to expect a pay raise as well." Kana spoke after a moment in time and the other woman was hurrying forward, wrapping her arms around Eric in a hug. No wonder she had been rather secretive herself the last few days.
 
Eric was taking a step back in shock, his wonderful Cathy! Here? They lived out side the walls. "You did this for me??" He slowly got out before giving his wife a huge hug and then included the younger hand maid in to the folds. He's never cheated on his wife of 10 years, for that he was proud and he wouldn't have started now. Yes he was getting on in years but he could still get it on; just fine thank you; with his darling.
"Thank you, Kana." Ah, her name flowing just fine from his lips as did her las name. "I can't take off though, you need all eyes on deck for tonight." He still hadn't let go of his Cathy though.


Will had a stuttering hand as he was pulled away for a dance, this was just a young noble lady... oh what was her name.... Sarah-Belle.... trying to tease her new husband for a dance. He really hoped it worked; he needed to get back to his post. He couldn't just be whirling about the dance floor and not know where she was.
No, he wasn't clingy. He was a guard, what good was he with some one else.
He did dance fine though, keeping a light smile on as the woman got a rise from her husband- she a fresh thing and he nearly an old fart... Gross.....
 
Kana gave a small giggle before she was looking towards the pair as they were embracing, although it wasn't long before he was drawing her into the hug as well.
"Yeah we need all hands on deck yes but that doesn't mean that you can't just enjoy time with your wife." Kana spoke as she was drawing away from them gently before she was giving a small giggle. Then was commenting that when he saw the princess he would have to thank her as well.
"We should probably get back inside now." the handmaiden hummed.
 
A silent agreement from the pair and Kana was shortly followed by them. She didn’t need to say anymore.
Eric never let his wife’s hand leave his as they fully enjoyed their evening this time.
He just watched his poor soldier dance with people, but his gaze was to the princess.

Will was trying very heard to give the ladies that wanted to dance with him the proper attention but he did need to get back to the princess, so after a few he said his farewells and headed back to her side. A proud soldier, one whom even though he was a foreign skin to this fair land- had a place of honor here as her guard.
He never had listened, even when younger, about his skin tone- it is what had attracted his first owner to him at the market. A sight to see a loyal colored in a Captain or Commanders tent.

Kana was gliding into the ballroom and just watching as Will danced with people, before she was sliding up beside Lunaria, who was just smiling when she saw Eric and Cathy come into the area as well. This had her inclining her head ever so slightly before she was looking towards Kana, who leaned towards her and spoke something in a low voice.
"You know... it is a ball. You don't have to stay at my side the entire night. Not even Eric did." Lunaria was commenting to Will as she took a sip of her drink before she was handing it off to Kana, who was taking it with a small smile on her lips.
The young princess was giving a slight smile as she rose to her feet and was accepting a dance from somebody, gliding out onto the dance floor. Thank god for not wearing heels, or that night would have been so annoying, and would have gotten probably painful after a while.
And luckily nobody had stepped on her feet at all yet.
Although not that she was going to be there for long. Nope she planned on slipping away to head outside as soon as she could, just wanting to breath. And take a break from everybody.
 
A small smile to the comment but Will stood at her side. "Majesty, This would be my first escort. I would rather be comfortable being at your side then away from my charge... at least for the first one." Short bow with his hand to his chest, not deep, just one to show a loyalty to it.
She was shortly taken away though, for a dance; if bothered by his presence this would be a good way to stay away from him.
He didn't mind the non- dancing moments as he could scan the area better while still.
