For the gamers within us, which game did you enjoy the most playing as a kid?

Final Fantasy 7. Borrowed it from a friend without knowing what it was. Fell in love instantly. People get upset about Aeirth's fate....I was always torn up over Jessie 😭

Way too many to count. I was a big fan of the command and conquer series and RPG's like suikoden and final fantasy, I liked all kinds of strategy games. I spend an obscene amount of time on Metal Gear Solid games which are my favourite game series so probably those. Castlevania was good and even some obscure ones like Hogs of War. Anybody remember that? Such a good game.

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, I loved playing that game. It was so challenging but it had such great music and I loved the dynamic of Diddy and Dixie and their different movesets to get through the incredibly well built levels. I'm also a sucker for romance and this was back when the instruction booklet actually had a story and lore to it before the actual gameplay happens; now in the present instruction booklets are a thing of the past and story is sort of left for in the game itself should it choose to reveal anything.

Super Mario Sunshine! That or SSB Melee. I would always beg my neighbor to play with me so we could try taking down some of the higher level bots in the game xD

Pokemon Silver on the gameboy pocket was the most addicting game I had as a kid.

I have a few games that were absolutely formative for me. In no particular order:

  • Sonic and Knuckles
  • Sonic II
  • Golden Axe
  • Wiz and Liz
  • There were these two fighting games, one was Power Rangers and one was Batman, but I don't know their names to this day.
  • Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal
  • Pokémon Sapphire

Pokemon Snap was a MASSIVE portion of my childhood. Hell, many of the Pokemon games. Along with Smash Bros, Soul Calibur, Tales of Symphonia, and maybe others.

Pokemon Blue, Silver and Sapphire molded my taste for the JRPG formula and got me into anime.

Then there's Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker which were really influential in my childhood as great adventure games.

There's also the Harvest Moon games before they were relicensed as Story of Seasons and the Rune Factory series, which all kind of made me love the life sim aspect of games. Oh, and marrying interesting characters in the game too.

Oh, and who could forget Paper Mario? The first three, at least. Thousand-Year Door is still one of the best games in history period and nobody can convince me otherwise.

Honorable mention to Super Mario Sunshine and Galaxy. I know a lot of people hate the former, and I don't necessarily disagree, but I used to rent it in a local game rental shop for the weekend and I would play the shit out of it. Oh, and Budokai Tenkaichi 3 was the shit back in the day, way before Sparking ZERO.

Yeah, I had a lot of games I liked when I was a kid.
