Me: “Ok, this is just a back and forth smut RP, I can just do a simple opener and get things rolling.”

5 minutes later:

Plays against character A -> that somehow suddenly turns into character B (which you were supposed to be playing with all along)

Which then mystically turns into Character C, that you were not even aware existed in the rp

and after you decide to go with the blow it turns out, that Character C always has been Character A (which you started rping with!)

When you plan a heavy noncon degradation gangbang RP, and make an innocent character to be defiled, but the lead up is nice and fluffy so you become emotionally attached to the character and you just know the bad stuff is about to happen.

When you try to find a logical or detailed explanation for what a character is doing but the main reason is "BECAUSE THAT SHIT BE RAD"
 
Me: I think it would be smart for this character to have a friend or confidante someone who can talk to them

Partner: okay so we will have them be a smutty lover

Me: no the romance is clearly focused on another character we just need someone to be a friend

Partner so were gonna cuck this guy who wants it really bad sounds great

When you and your partner are both the second person so all your rps end having a dozen side characters with backstories and smut scenes.
 
Is it just me, or have Knights and Warriors fallen to the side in lieu of edgy rogues and and the like?

HAHA! Yes! Whenever I try to explain what RP is I end up sticking with 'community storytelling'. Mostly because saying 'roleplay' gets you some odd looks from people who have only ever heard of it referring to 'bedroom ropleplay'. Which is most everyone who doesn't dwell on the internet.

Duuu eeeet. It actually does include a number of good skills. Working well with different people, communication skills, creativity, and problem solving. =P
I often describe it as being part of an online community where I work together with a group of people to create stories that we all have a hand in directing.
 
When you and a partner have a little rockiness planning an RP, but you handle it like adults and now the story is kicking off!

They don't have to know that I meant I'm an officer in an RP guild in an MMO and I play an awkward and grumpy pretty boy. ;P
