Fixers (Beautiful_Disgrace and I)

Aernir...wasn't sure what to do. That Maxwell guy...he was up to something. Something that probably should be interrupted. But he couldn't leave Rayna against that monster guy and Luce. "Trust Luce, Rayna. I trust you." He told her before he dashed off towards Maxwell. Before he was halfway towards the man, he threw a dagger at him in attempts to interrupt his spell.

..Aernir and Luce. She trusted both of them> Aernir thought she could handle herself..and Luce wanted to her to strike. "I'm sorry." She told Luce before she raised up her hand, a long pillar of earth jutting out of the floor and hitting Luce square in the stomach. Almost effortless she followed up her next spell, sending a fatal blow of lightning towards Carmello. She could do this...

Luce let out a pained grunt, blood flying from her mouth as she slammed into the wall with a pained yelp, the knives clattering from her grip. She hissed in pain, clutching her side a moment as her body kicked into overdrive. The ribs weren't busted...but they were cracking, it was an extremely disturbing feeling having your body knit itself after a while. But she was out of the way, and Carmello was struck with an ear shattering shriek of fury, slamming back into the doors as his twitching, barely there body simply laid there.
-

Maxwell let out a shout of pain when a knife slammed into his back, the blood pulling out of the wound as he turned around to hurl a fireball at him, eyes wide with panic and terror. "You FOOL!" he snarled. No, all of what he worked for, all of his immortality! All of his power! Because of some dumb Fixer, he'd lose it all! All of that blood was draining, and fast. The beating heart picked up, and Maxwell groaned in pain as he desperately tried to crawl away, but...by the time he had done so, his face had sunk in, his body going skeletal as he slumped to the ground.

Rayna ran over to Luce. She was sure Carmello had been destroyed from that blast, but then again she didn't bother to check. Instead she ran over to Luce. "Are you okay? Here, let me heal you. I'm sorry, you asked me to hit you hard so I did..." Rayna's eyes were filled with tears. Hurting Luce like that hurt her very much. She almost couldn't forgive herself.

Aernir had just enough time to avoid the spell. He narrowed his eyes and crept closer with his blade drawn, watching Maxwell. Though before his eyes, the man was..deteorating into nothing but skeleton. Aernir went over and grabbed his knife from his remains. Though that wasn't good. This wasn't over...

"It's fine, Rayna," Luce grunted, shifting to give her cheek a faint smack. "I need you to focus, alright?" she said seriously, her expression was a little pained. But she could move well enough to stand, picking up the blades. "This isn't over...save it for after, got it?" she said, hand brushing across her cheek. "Rice Paddy, catch." she said, tossing him one of the knives. Her gun would do okay, but these? These were special...she almost wanted to keep them for herself, supposed she'd see if Aernir had the balls to keep a demonic blade.

Rayna frowned, but she nodded. Luce was right, but she really wanted to make sure she was okay. She looked towards the center of the room, and she realized that whatever was being summoned...was still being summoned. They would have to fight hard to stop whatever it was.

Aernir grabbed the blade with ease. At first he seemed to be disgusted, but they actually felt pretty nice in his hand. Suppose he could use them for now. He regrouped with the both of them, and he was glad that Luce seemed okay and so was Rayna. "Well, looks like this is the only fuck we gotta take care of to get paid, I guess. Good thing we weren't supposed to save anyone on this mission." He commented as he watched the entity continue to build up with magic.

"Take it out of the pay anyway," Luce mumbled, feeding a fresh magazine into her Mauser and chambering it. Whatever it was, it was huge...massive, and hulking. When it finally started to solidify properly, the landing of his feet shook the ground. It was easily twelve feet tall, rippling with unnatural muscle and blinking six slitted eyes. Luce had a dagger, so did Aernir...plus Rayna's magic. This was the best shot they had at this.

It let out a blood curdling roar, and Luce resisted the urge to quite literally wet herself from the terror that filled through her spine.

"Shut up," Luce growled, putting three rounds into his open mouth, blood splurted and the demon hacked and snarled, it's massive arms glittering with electricity.

Aernir could feel the hairs on the back of his spine rise. For a moment, he wanted to run. But then he remembered why he became a fixer in the first place. If he was to die, then this would be no other appropriate way. A demon him sending to hell where he belonged.

"Don't be afraid." Rayna said to the two of them. Aernir glanced at her in surprised. She..was probably the least experienced in battle and she was telling him...them not to be afraid? The way she glared straight into the demons eyes...it was like she was completely fearless even hearing that roar. She could see the electricity around it's arms and hers did the same. No..her entire body was crackling with it. This was a different spell she was casting with. "Aernir...wait for an opening that I give you. Just stay out of the way if it casts magic!"

"Shouldn't be too hard, not like it has a wingspan of a fucking semi-truck." Rayna muttered. "You heard the mage..." Not that the demon cared, he stalked forward with a purpose, it's eyes hungry for Rayna. Luce took a faint step forward, knife at the ready.

"...Rayna?" she said faintly. What...what was she waiting for?

Rayna..had to charge her spells for this demon. She know there was no other way to fight it, but at least it was moving slow. Once it got close enough, she let go her charged electricity spell, the rays fanning out and striking almost it almost instantly. Aernir was going to wait a little bit..to see how it reacted to her spells. Then he would aim for it's weak points. Eyes...heart...hell he'd try to go for it's knees to stop it from moving.

The demon staggered back with an annoyed growl, but the lightning simply darted across it's body and it retaliated with a horrible roar of lightning, tearing into the flooring and the walls, shattering the windows to their right as Luce grabbed Rayna. "Aernir! MOVE!" she roared. Mage or not, lightning wasn't a good thing!

...She didn't expect that. Either it countered, or it was just in tune to lighting itself. Either way, Rayna would try another spell. Aernir did move, but it was just barely enough to get out of the way. "Fucking hate magic shit..." He moved around towards the demons back. It seemed focused on Rayna so maybe he'd find an opening there.

Once Rayna and Luce were in a safe place, she started charging another spell. She couldn't let it get close to Luce....or rather her since it seemed to be focused on her.

Well, Luce was never one to follow internal plans...and she saw Aernir trying to loop around behind it. These knives were...special, not in the good way, but in the good enough way that meant something like a demon would hurt from them. They had to get close.

"Hey, ugly!" Luce said, firing off a salvo of shots that seemed to do little more than give it a pockmark. Ugh, great. But it got his attention as he let out a rumble of annoyance and another ripple of lightning that took out some pictures on the wall before it summoned a surge of electricity that Luce rolled out of the way to avoid. They needed to buy Rayna time, but shit if lightning wasn't hard to dodge!

Luce always had to be the distraction. A distraction that Aernir would always take advantage of. He shoved his blade into the demons back and pulled it down as far as he could. It's flesh was tough, but..it was able to be cut.

Meanwhile Rayna was still charging her spell still, though this time was a little different. She was chanting some strange language. Was that supposed to make things stronger or something?

The demon let out a horrid roar of pain as it turned around, trying to swat at Aernir. That left the bloody, bleeding back wide open as Luce moved forward, slamming the blade into it's meaty thigh and ripping it outward as it staggered. Attempting to swat at both of them, jesus. Luce considered Aernir and herself at being pretty quick, but they were barely getting out of the way. "Rayna!" she said. "Any fucking time, girl!"

Rayna couldn't even hear Luce, because she was too deep in concentration. Suddenly, a magic circle appeared underneath the demon. "I'm guessing we shouldn't be inside or near that, Luce." Aernir called out to her as he backed up. Sure enough, a brilliant pillar of flame explode from the floor and went straight to the ceiling. Rayna started huffing softly, hoping that it was strong enough to at least severely weaken the thing.

The demon let out a howl of misery, staggering back on it's massive legs. The smell of burnt flesh...didn't smell like burnt flesh, more like dried blood. Ugh, disgusting. Either way, the demon slumped down with a weary, frustrated pant. Luce didn't waste any time moving forward, the knife slamming into it's leg as it roared in pain.

"Stab it! Quick!" Luce growled, ripping the blade out in an arc of black blood before slamming it into it again. "Get to it's heart!" They knew it had a heart because they saw it form around the damn thing. They needed to end this soon, they didn't have the stamina to keep this kind of pace up!

Aernir was immediately in front of the demon, shoving his dagger deep within it's chest. It stunk and being close to it made his eyes water, but this was the opening Rayna had made for them and he wouldn't fail her. From the looks of it, she did have a limit when it came to spells, and if they didn't kill it now...they'd regret it.

The demon let out a shrill hiss of pain, reeling back as it took a weak swipe at them both. It wasn't just bleeding...it was...unraveling, quite literally. The blood simply started pouring out of his carapaced body as it thrashed and twitched.

"Oh, fucking nasty" Luce grumbled, quickly backpedaling. Ugh...if she could never fight a demon again, that'd be perfect...

Aernir yanked the dagger out, being hit in the face with a spurt of dark blood. He didn't really seem to mind it. Blood was blood, demon or not. He was used to bathing in it since he used blades and close quarter combat. He looked towards Luce and sighed. "Yeah...it's pretty gross. But at least we're alive." He glanced at Rayna and grinned. "Thanks for giving us an opening, partner."

Rayna smiled back at Aernir and nodded. She was really exhausted but she was glad that she could help.

Luce glanced back behind her, her expression suddenly twisting into one of pure fear as she bolted towards Rayna. It was only a second later before the skittering was heard, the claws against the floor. Carmello wasn't dead, he was just waiting. Now, she was too far away from her precious little doll, the thing that Rayna had attached herself to so quickly. The one whose whispers were simply ignored. No matter...now? He had all the fury and fire he needed to be real.

"RAYNA!" she roared, breaking off into a full sprint. Her body resisted every single attempt it made, but she still ran with the speed of an Olympian. She shoved her out of the way as hard as she could as Carmello let out a shrill snarl and slammed into Luce. He was a thin thing, with wicked claws that tore into her arms and chest with a supernatural speed.

"Worthless WHORE! Stupid BITCH!" His voice was shrill and punctured her eardrums with his screams. "I MADE YOU! You LISTEN TO ME! NOT TO HER."

Their victory came to an abrupt end then and there. Aernir hadn't reacted enough in time to help neither Rayna nor Luce. Rayna was horrified as she fell back several feet, watching Carmello shove his claws into Luce's body. "LUCE!" She screamed out loud, using a burst of wind to instantly place her back on her feet. Aernir was suddenly behind Luce, and he yanked her away suddenly, holding her to his chest protectively as he moved her away. He wasn't sure how bad her injuries were...but he just wanted to get her away from that thing.

Though Rayna's sudden howl of anger made his head snap towards her. She ran in between them to cut Carmello off if he tried to pursue Luce, and she stood there as her hands glowed red. "She's not a whore! She's not a bitch! Just die!" She sent a large fireball towards him, and she didn't stop there. She continued to hurl more spells at him angrily. "Die, die, DIE!" She screamed.

Luce honestly didn't know what happened when the pain set in, it was so...effortless how easy she had her flesh pierced. When she was yanked away by Aernir, her breath finally hit her with a strangled gurgle. The pain was numbing, her anger was...it was painkiller as Carmello skittered around her fireballs like a cockroach, hissing and spitting at her as he attempted to get close. Her fingers tightened around her knife, and she let out a blood curdling howl of fury as she bolted towards the freakish creature, a fireball sailing right past her as she slammed into the demon with her knife raised high and brought it down, again, again, and again, and again, and again.

He tried, desperately to get her off, but the claws in her arm did nothing to stop her furious, blood streaked face as she stabbed him so furiously, her breath coming out in labored, choking gurgles as the body stopped moving, and still she kept stabbing as blood splattered across her broken, battered body. Somewhere, there were tears, somewhere...she had started crying, sobbing hysterically when the pain finally set in, when all of the memories came rushing back like a bolt of lightning. When everything she repressed and beat down and blamed herself for ripped wide open, and all she could do was lay on the floor in miserable pain, sobbing her eyes out. This was how she died, wasn't it? Some miserable, angry, horrible bitch who never did anything worth something in her life.

Rayna stopped casting magic as soon as Luce got to him. She watched with absolutely no emotion her face, though she wanted to make sure that when he died, he wouldn't haunt her again. The knife Luce had been stabbing him with though, not only stabbed his physical body but also his spirit as well. She watched as his soul sunk into the floor, forever damned to descend until he went to hell. His body crumbled to dust, and as soon as Luce fell to the floor, Rayna was right there with her in the pile of blood, hugging her.

"Shhh," Rayna started as her body began to glow faintly. She smiled and closed her eyes as she allowed her magic to heal Luce. She had long since went past a dangerous point...she didn't have much in her left. But she wouldn't let Luce bleed out. She started to break out into a sweat as she struggled to heal her wounds, but all the while she kept clinging to her. No matter how weak she was, she wanted to end Luce's physical pain. It was all she could do. "Let him go, now. He's gone, Luce. For good this time."

Aernir could only watch with confusion. He didn't know who that man was, but...well he wasn't going to interrupt this. Rayna..looked like an angel though at this moment...the way she glowed like that. It was...a really emotional experience watching those two.

Luce didn't even say anything, she threw her arms around Rayna and nuzzled almost desperately against her, whatever pain she felt didn't matter. She couldn't stop sobbing against Rayna's neck, arms tight around her, almost protectively...possessively even. She didn't know how long they were sitting there...but eventually, her crying died down.

"...Hey, Aernir," Luce mumbled, her voice raw and empty. "...Tell Wizard I need more than a few pints of blood, this time." Healing or not...she'd feel woozy and a little sick without the blood. "We need to get out of here, have him do the hard work...I just want to go home."

It had been a good long while, but Aernir continued to watch them. Rayna didn't really respond or say anything after her initial comment. When Luce finally stopped crying and spoke up, he raised his head a little. "..Yeah alright. Do you umm...need help into the car?" He asked her as he walked closer to both of them. Rayna's eyes were still closed, and she was still smiling and holding Luce. Though she seemed...unresponsive. The glow had stopped, too.
