"Kid, you're practically describing how I am in that city. No one gives a shit about you. The only acknowldgement you'd get there is when you have to get rations, getting scolded at by the military troops, or when someone wants to kill you. In all honesty, I rather have no one around." I said in a softer tone.

Eventually the car pulled up to the entrance to an underground facility. "Gentleman, welcome to D6 the base of the Militia of the Order. Just follow me, we'll get you the things you need." I said to the to as me and the other soldiers begun to head into the base.

I clenched my teeth.
"I'm not a boy..." I muttered as I got out of the jeep, walking awkwardly on the concrete ground as I was used to uneven forest ground.

I got out of the jeep and followed the soldier. "Say, what are your names, anywya? I don't know them yet." I said curious.

"Me? My name is Artyom, Sam." I said as I opened the door to the base as some of the soldiers got in and some stayed outside to contuine their guard or patrol duties. "Come on fags people. Lets move." I said gesturing towards the door.

I didn't move to interact with Sam, and just kept walking.
"Yoru." I said as I walked. "Yoru Kasume." I stopped for a moment, my voice becoming a whisper. "No need to remember it. I am, after all, a nobody." I then continued walking, and by the time I reached inside where some shade was, my walking instinctively became silent.

I groaned as I walked in as well.
"How the hell am I supposed to get back. This wasn't exactly a short drive.. Fuck, if I have to walk back I'll be killed.." I said under my breath.

"Look we'll resolve that later, for now just follow me and dont do anything stupid." I said shutting the door behind me. An officer asked me who the people who were with me were. "Sir these are refuges seeking supplies." I responded. "Very well then, go report them to Colonel Francis first, might have a few questions for them." "Yes sir" I replied. As the officer walked away I looked over to the two. "Ok, minor change of the plans, Colonel Francis wants to ask you two a few questions, then I promise you'll get your supplies, ok?" I asked them hoping they wouldn't get angry.

I stopped, quietly, and looked to him.
"When can I take my shower?" I asked simply. I seemed much more at peace in the dark, my fair skin barely reflecting the light that was pushed onto it.

"You'll get your shower soon I promise." I said to Yoru. "Colonel just has a few questions to ask you first, you get your shower and supplies then your free to go." As I said that an officer came up to us. "Excuse me sir, I need to see this man." He said pointing to Sam. "Yes sir." I replyed as he escorted Sam away. We walked into an office. "Colonal Francis, this is the girl. In the seat of the desk was a rather older looking man with dark hair and missing an eye. He looked up at Artyom and Yoru with a dead serious expression. He examied her from his desk. Within a millisecond it changed to a jolly laughter. "SO Yoru is it? Names Francis, Colonel Francis, pleasure to meet you." He said in a very deep yet jolly voice as he extended his hand to Yoru.

"Corpral Hans overheard you say your name to my boy Artyom over here. No need to be nervous girl your in good hands. I just need to ask you a few questions." He said in his usual tone.

I hesitantly nodded.
"I... guess I can do that..." I said softly. I am a very shy girl, even though I never really got to show it when I lived in the forest. Though, now, it began resurfacing.

"Please please take a seat." He said jestering towards the chair in front of his desk. I stood and watched as I was given no orders to do anything else. Francis asked, "So tell me, whats your occupation? How do you make a living in todays world?" He asked getting relaxed in his chair.

I brought my left hand up to my face, almost as though biting my index finger in a shy way, as it was an old habit that resurfaced.
"I'm... um... a hunter.." I said softly. "I've lived in... the forest.... for the past seven years..." I hesitantly afterward took out my Tanto, and placed it on his desk. "I used this for close kills, and sharpening flint for arrows.." I paused, and looked at it. "It's very dull now... My arrows aren't as strong, and I also need to restring my bow..."

Francis picked up and examined the tanto. "Can't say I've seen anything on the like, seen many knifes in my day, some even seen TOO close. But I this isnt one of them." He said putting the tanto back on the desk. "So a hunter in the woods huh? Probably a blissful life out there. Tell me, do you know anything about the upcoming war?" Francis asked Yoru.

I shook my head, picking up the Tanto again.
"I know nothing about it." I responded respectfully, though quietly as I sheathed my blade. "And life in the forest isn't that lovely, knowing that you have predetors all around, and no allies... and I didn't expect you to really know of the blade; it's one from my descent, a Japanese Tanto." I looked away. "My father gave it to me..."

Francis smiled. "Least you know whats treasure these days. Anyway right now there are three main factions, including us, all in a hostile situation. Each faction seeks control and all have different intentions. There are the Reds, Revolutionaries and us, The Militia of the Order. The Reds want to conquer the surviving land and bring upon a new communist government in which is a dictatorship in disguise. The Revolutionaries want to send the survivors into total anarchy believing that returning to man's free state will bring upon the answer via survival of the fittest and natural selection. The Militia however wants to bring peace and order so mankind can strive by destroying the other two factions. So basically its an all out hostile war between us. We have a small amount of soldiers compared to the others, but the most well trained, and well equipped of the three anyone can tell you that. The Reds have the most men, yet due to the numbers they tend to get poor weapons, such as pre-war Uzis and Springfeilds, and have decent training. The Revolotionaries have next to no training and use whatever junk guns they can find, however they are very dangrous. Their suicidal and insane, they run at men with just machetes and are masters of guerilla warfare. I urge you to stay away from these people, they only cary pain and lies. Any questions?" Francis added.

"Well yes and no. Some of them have pretty much just a t-shirt, jeans and a bandana over there mouths, others have armor. But their armor is usually pretty laughable. Unless they stole it off of a Militia or Red soldier their only armor is usually a very improvised and makeshift torso gaurd, the kinda crap thats held together by duct tape, and they almost never have anything on their legs. May still be enough to prevent them from dying from an arrow you shot, but you can kill them if you hit them in the head or neck. Hell that tanto will cut through it like its jello." He said chuckling to himself.

I nodded.
"If you have something that properly sharpens flint, then we won't have that problem with arrows." I said with a small smirk. "Before the infection, when I went shooting with my mother, I always had to have two targets, one behind the other." I giggled softly. "the strength I put behind this bow still put the arrow in a tree behind them." My smile faded. "I'm a very skilled archer, so if my dulled Tanto can get through the armor, then my arrow can do much better, if it weren't makeshift."

"Well miss, sharpening your knife is a go however guns have replaced bows in the battlefield centuries ago so we dont have the supplies to craft arrows for you, however we've plenty things in storage we dont need or use that can probably make better arrows for you that I can assure. Arytom can help you with that." Francis said looking at me. "Yes sir I can." I replied.

I nodded.
"Just anything that could give me a stronger arrow would be lovely, though I've never held a gun before, and I feel they're too loud anyway." I pointed to my nose. "I'm a girl of stealth, not warfare. Only way I really think that I could be of much use is for gathering intelligence."

"You sure seem like you are missy. Anyway, thats all I needed to ask of you. Artyom take her to the storage room to get her the things she needs. I have to get back to work" Francis said to me. "Yes sir!" I responed as I opened the office door. "Ladies first." I said gesturing towards the door.

I smiled... kind of, as I walked through the door. After Arty closed it behind him, I immediately turned to him.
"First thing's first." I stated. "Where's the shower?"
