Justin Balfour sat in the desk chair in his sister's room. The 16 year old checked his watch for at least the tenth time. It was past midnight, but Jessica wasn't home yet.
Justin and Jessica were twins. They had always been very close, doing everything together, being each other's confidant and closest friend. But things had changed over the last year.
Jessica had stopped spending time with her twin brother. She no longer told him her secrets. Jessica spent all her time away from home, hanging out with her friends. She had used to ask Justin along, but not anymore. She had even stopped studying with Justin before school closed for the summer.
Now, it was late June. Their parents had been away for two days, and would be away for twelve more on their first real vacation since the twins were born. Justin hadn't seen more than a glimpse of his sister in those two days, and he was deeply concerned and upset.
Justin ran a nervous hand through his dark brown hair as he wondered what he could have done that was so terrible Jessica wouldn't even speak to him about it. The teen feared that he had slipped up somehow and the one secret he kept from his twin had been revealed to her.
Justin was attracted to his own sister. The feelings had come so stealthily that Justin wasn't ever sure when they had begun, but one day almost a year before, he had seen Jessica in her new bikini, and had become aroused. Since then, Justin hadn't been able to stop noticing how beautiful and sexy his sister was. He found that no other girl at school compared to her in his mind. The teen had begun to have dreams of having sex with Jessica.
Justin resisted his feelings as well as he could. He never breathed a word of how he felt to anyone, especially not his usual confidant, hoping that ignoring it might make it go away. He took cold showers and tired to force himself to get interested in other girls. None of it worked. Justin's heart and body only wanted one girl. The one girl he could never have, and who would hate him if she ever knew of his filthy and perverse feelings.
The youth hoped his shameful secret hadn't been revealed to his sister. As much as Justin felt he deserved Jessica's hate, he knew he couldn't survive it. If his shattered heart didn't kill him, Justin knew he would probably take his own life. If Jessica hated him, it would be as if half of his soul was already dead.
But as much as he lusted after his sister, Justin truly loved her too. As much as he feared learning that she knew, Justin cared too much about his sister not to learn what was wrong. That was why Justin had decided to wait up for Jessica and confront her. He had to know what was wrong, even if it literally killed him. He had to do all he could to help his sister, no matter the cost to himself.
