The Lilandis Empire currently resides over the largest continent on the planet. It is a land that has been through many rulers before falling under the current ruler, King Dogma Lilandis, and in his lifte time has managed to get the entire continent of Wildheim under the control of his glorious empire. With that came a few new rules, such as deities being outlawed, whether they are good aligned or evil. Only a few are allowed to be worshipped in public, and those that are caught can be punished by the guards that wonder through towns and cities trying to keep the piece. It has been near fifteen years since Lilandis was able to bring the continent under his rule, and whatever tides of rebellion fell onto the land had either been quelled or crushed under the sheer force of the empire. Yet, our story starts much smaller, without the large democracy of Empires, Kings, Queens and Deities.

Ours starts in the cozy little town of Barnabuck, a village known for being a travelling town. Being situated on the main road throughout the land it recieves no shortage of visitors or business from those weary travellers who walk the path. The town being made up of several red brick buildings, and stained clay is definitely a place that would be considered quiet and allowed for those wishing to lay low, to remain undisturbed for some time. Fields can be seen in the distance, growing all sorts from wheat to corn. Though today people are remaining inside as a heavy down pour of rain set over it, making the mud soft and this bright little town have a gloomy look cast upon it.

Standing outside the tavern. The Cow Bell, was a woman. Though most noticeably about her would be how filthy she appears, mud has been smeared over her face and mattled in her hair, making the long jet black/grey/green hair clump together in some parts. Her long coat being lined with a type of sheep's skin offering protection from the heavy rain, and keeping her warm in the Autumn months. Yet even signs of mood could be seen on her clothing, as wool stuck out from the collar, and sleeves exposing her bandaged arms and hands and sharp black nails. she had a long scarf wrapped draped over her neck, that went past her knees, and the end was frayed and splattered in muck matching the rest of her clothing. If someone wasn't off put by her initial appearance and stared long enough they would see that beneath the mood her skin was not that of a humans. It was a dark green on her forehead and over her eyes, and turned to a lighter shade below her eyes, and her hands were a dark green that went with the black nails. There was a big scar on her head, and where one would think Tusks should be for a half-orc there were none, making her look more on the human side of the species. She stared at the jobs board as the rain washed a bit of the mud on her face, sending streaks of muddy water running down her face. As she looked over her shoulder, she turned the collar of her coat up to hide herself a little more from others.

At one point in time the world had been somewhat chaotic, at least until the Lilandis Empire had taken over. Things started to have a bit more order to it, especially with the rules that were put in place. Sure somebody saw it as their freedom taken away, but sometimes rules were needed to keep the order. This was all fifteen years ago that the king had taken over the continent. Any attempts at rebellion had been quelled or crushed by his armies. Moving away from the kingdom of Lilandis, to a small place known as Barnabuck. One of the few traveling towns in which many people end up passing through to get from one point to another point. A rather cozy little place, a peaceful place where not much really seemed to happen.

Much like all of the other towns and villages, one of the most notable features of the small town was that of the tavern. Not only was it a tavern but it was an adventure hall as well. A place where adventurers from all around the world could go to collect rewards for jobs done, or even take on new jobs. The Cow Bell was probably one of the most well known taverns, at least when it came to small towns. The friendly staff, the good food, and they never seemed to not have a job for somebody to do. Walking through the streets of the small town was another cloaked figure, the hood pulled over to help shelter them from the rain. The figure eventually came upon the tavern and was just gazing up at it for a moment in time, golden eyes seen from beneath the hood. Soon enough she was entering the tavern and pushing down the hood to reveal silver hair and spiked ears of an elf. This particular young woman wasn't just the average traveler, in fact the young woman would probably be the last person that one would expect in a small town such as Barnabuck.

Lady Calaena Faeran was the youngest daughter of an elven lord who served under the grand king of Lilandis as one of his army generals, and Calaena's brother served as one of the royal guards to the King's son. A sweet young boy that Calaena could actually stand being around the number of times that she had visited the palace. Yet again most eight year old children weren't all that terrible, especially the young prince. Why exactly was the young lady of House Faeran there? Because she had been tired of playing Lady, and had decided that she was going to go out on an adventure. Somehow her father had been fine with it, had actually encouraged it. Although he had also made it very obvious that she was to keep who she actually was as a secret from others, that perhaps it wouldn't be a good thing if people learned she was apart of a noble house.

The Tavern was noisy when she walked inside, although it wasn't as if it truly bothered her at that point in time. There was a faint smile on her lips before she was going over to take a seat, just speaking with the barkeep for a brief moment in time. Ordering a drink and something to eat while she looked around. Her eyes were drawn towards a woman that was standing over by the jobs board, a woman that people seemed to stray away from when they got to close. After a few moments Calaena was climbing to her feet and walking over to job board as well so she could see what there was as well.

The half-orc, Faye continued to look over the jobs board, minding her own business as she studied each of the posts one by one. Her sickly yellow eyes looking through the strands of hair that covered her face, and were either stuck in the mud or looking like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. Something on her shoulders looked up, a scruffy black looking cat that peered at the elf next to her with bright green eyes. The cat was scarfed around Faye's neck as she hesitantly reached up to grab one of the posters and tugged at the parchment, feeling the rough texture beneath her fingers. There was a tear as she took it from the board and read over the job. It was nothing majorly difficult, just looking over a sailors whilst they unloaded crates from the gondola that travelled up the Wine River.

As her cat let out a low yawn, she turned and saw the elf next to her. Those yellow eyes looking over her, taking in everything there was like someone was eagerly reading a book for minute details. "Oh...right." She said and went to side step the elf, her green skin probably rather clear under the muck as she walked passed her. Just wanting to move away from the prying eyes around her. She turned the collar of her coat up more, as the cat settled back to scarfing on her shoulders as she made her way to the door. Escaping the hustle and bustle of inside the tavern.

Calaena just studied a number of the jobs that were posted although she was a little startled by the cat that seemed to snake her way from shoulder to shoulder on the woman that was next to her. Okay that had been a bit startling, although it didn't bother her at all. A beautiful creature really. "Such a beautiful creature." Calaena cooed after a moment in time before she was studying the other woman for a moment in time, tilting her head a bit. That green color to the skin.... she had to wonder if this female was an orc. Not that she had a problem with orcs, actually she really didn't have much of a problem with any race at all. "Excuse me ma'am. I was wondering if you have ever been to this town before. I've seen a number of inns here, I was wondering which one you would recommend if you have. There have been a few that I've been told to stray away from. Yet again.... I'm wary to trust the word of a male." Calaena spoke after a moment in time, her voice soft yet kind.

Faye hesitated a little as she was so close to the door, her hand resting upon it. "Here is good... or the Leaky Mug if you don't have much money to spend." She stayed for a second before opening the door and pushing her way through it. She could feel her heart racing after speaking to her and placed a hand over her chest a little, looking over her shoulder and around. No one, good that was good. She began to walk through the streets before stopping, the Leaky Mug was where she was staying, cursing herself for giving away her location so easily she tapped her fingers together and glanced around. "No... no one else is following..." She comforted herself with and made her way to the inn to get away from the hustle and bustle of the Cow Bell.

Calaena was just giving a soft smile and was thanking her for her assistance before brushing a few strands of her own silver hair out of her face. Matty as well from the traveling but being at an inn meant.... bathing. That was going to be heavenly. After that she was watching the female leave the inn before she was turning to go back over to the barkeep, and speak with the person about getting a room. After she had paid and was given a key, she was going back over to the job board to look at the jobs. Huh she never truly realized how many jobs actually got posted, and these were just some of them. You could talk to the barkeep about other jobs if nothing up there actually interested you. They usually had a few others, the papers just unable to fit up on the bulletin board.

Slinking into the inn she slipped into her room before closing the door with a heavy clunk, the smell of muck and must over the room. She furrowed her brow a little as she took her coat off, and removed her scarf, tossing it to the side of the room as she slumped onto the bed. The job could wait till tomorrow, though that elf. She felt her food creasing a little as she over thought it. No it wasn't over thinking, she definitely didn't look like she should have been in that scene. Most of the Adventurers in there had a look about them, a way they held themselves but hers was different. She held herself in a way that she had only seen a few different times. Within a few minutes she was on her way back to the Bell, wrapping her scarf around her neck as her cat trailed along behind her. Moving into the inn she looked around before knocking the elf on the shoulder, her yellow eyes glowing lightly beneath her hair. "You're nobility aren't you?" She said, so only the elf could hear it.

Calaena had been just studying the jobs and was about to head off to her room when all of a sudden a hand was touching her shoulder, which had her jumping slightly. This had her looking to see the woman from earlier, who was asking if she was nobility. Although she noted that the woman spoke lowly, her voice only loud enough for Calaena to hear. This had the young elf giving a nod before she spoke, "Yes I am." Honestly though she had to wonder how the woman had guessed, and if one studied the elf's eyes, there was a slight look of worry in them.

Faye nodded as her suspicions were confirmed. She then took a step back and glanced over the people who were in the tavern. "Move carefully, there are some adventures... who wold not like nobility as they tend to issue jobs that more often or not result in death." She added and scratch her cheek, sending a few flecks of much onto the ground. "Oh erm manners, i am Faye." She said and held out her hand in greeting.

Calaena just studied the woman for a brief moment in time, honestly wondering why the woman seemed to care. After a moment in time she was speaking, "Thank you for the warning. I am Calaena." With that she was brushing some of her silver hair out of her face before telling herself internally that she was most definitely ready for a bath at that point in time.

Faye nodded and took her hand back, she awkwardly stood there for a moment or two and stepped back from her. "Alright..." She glanced over the others in the inn before turning to the door. "Fairwell Calaena." She gave a wave and snapped her fingers for her cat to follow again. She made her way back to help with the quest she had gotten. Spending the time unloading a few measly crates for a handful of coins. It wasn't the most exciting of work to have but it was certainly something that she could do with a little bit of ease.

Calaena looked towards her for a brief moment in time before she spoke, "Farewell. Perhaps we shall meet again." With that she was giving a small smile before heading off towards the room that she was staying in that night. First step, bathing.

The evening went by slowlyfor Faye, she moved the crates and unloaded the materials from other ships without having to make too much conversation with others around her. It was as simple as, well moving boxes. Glancing around, she could never truly shake the feeling that someone or something was watching her from a far distance away, but she paid this off to her paranoid attitude. The town was beginning to fall in a nights rest when she made her way back over after her job had been completed and she was making her way back in with a slightly heavier coin purse. The inn she was at was all but quiet as she walked up the stairs towards her room, and just slept on the bed still filthy and fully clothed.

Sometime during the evening, Calaena had decided that she was going to leave the safety of the inn and explore the small town that was there. This was one where a person could wander around at night and not really have to worry about much happening. One of the few actually. Everybody here took care of one another it more seemed like, even if they didn't know each other. Calaena allowed herself to just get lost in her thoughts, going over a few of the jobs that had been posted up. There were some of them that had stars on them, which indicated that they were adventure jobs. Jobs that weren't being down inside the village, a lot of these were those hunting quests. Find this creature and kill it for the fur, or something like that. There was one in particular that caught her eye, although she wasn't quite sure why it had. Perhaps because it was speaking of the Valley of Mists and how there was rumored treasure there, the job was for somebody to go there, find the treasure, and bring it back. The jobgiver would share whatever the person brought back fifty-fifty.
Calaena just brushed some of her silver hair from her face as she walked, just gazing up at the sky. "Valley of the Mists. There is no treasure. Only death." she mumbled to herself. Within that valley lay an old crumbling castle that had once belonged to a powerful lord, but he had fallen into disparity, and had been the one to call forth the mists. Vile creatures lived within those mists, and navigating ones way through it was difficult. But if you could actually get through it, and get to the castle then you possibly stood a chance at finding the treasure...which was rumored to be hidden away within the treasure room of the castle. Yet getting to the castle, nobody knew what horrors and dangers lurked within, nobody had ever made it that far.

Faye remained in her inn room for a long time, her familiar had headed out and began to walk around for a prowl around the place his tail wagging from side to side like a snake as he walked and prowled around the town. The scruffy cat eventually found the elf again and sat down staring at her as she studied the board. Seemingly taking an interest in her for the moment.

Calaena had that strange feeling of being watched which had her just glancing around for a moment and it wasn't long before she spotted the cat. "Oh hello. Aren't you a beauty. You were with that woman from earlier, Faye." the elf spoke after a moment in time as she looked towards the cat with a small smile.

The cat let out a purr as the fur on the back of it rose and settled down and slowly he pranced over and examined the elf slowly, circling around her ankles, with the tail merely running along her ankle as it looked up and nuzzled at her.

Calaena just watched the cat before she was kneeling down and scratching it behind the ears gently. "You should return to your owner before she worries about you." the elf spoke after a moment in time.

The cat narrowed its eyes at her before it slipped around and floated in the air, smoke surrounding it as it floated around her and purred as it rolled into the air. The cat seemed to possess some fey like qualities, most likely coming from that realm as it landed nimbly on the notice board. It didn't seem like he was going to be going anywhere.

Calaena watched the cat for a brief moment in time before she was giving a faint giggle before she spoke, "I guess you are going to hang around for a while." With that she was actually turning so that she could leave the bulletin board, and go explore the town. There was nothing else to do at that point in time, since she wasn't really wanting to go and sleep for the evening.

The town at this current moment in time was beginning to close down for the night. What shops were open were busy being closed off, and vendors were selling the last of their wares. There wasn't a lot in the town but what it did have, had a quality that was something to behold. There was a bank, a jewellers, a small blacksmiths, and of course. Taverns, lots of taverns. There was also a medical shop, and a minor magic shop, that was currently being closed down by a puffy, white haired gnome, who had a large scruffy beard and patched robes.

Even if everything was shutting down, didn't mean that Calaena couldn't explore. There were less people out at night. She could learn where each of the shops were now, which would make going to them tomorrow a lot easier. There were definitely a few that she planned on stopping by tomorrow, such as the medical shop and probably the magic shop. Supposedly this magic shop was one of the few where the enchantments that were put on the weapons were actually good. The enchantment that she had on her bow currently was a fluke, she was hoping that tomorrow it could be taken care of. Replace the old enchantment with a new one, without destroying her bow hopefully.

Further into the town where there were three taverns formed in a circle with a nice open area for people to drink and chat and be entertained. There was music being played and games and stories being shared. There was a rather handsome looking bard playing his lute on a small podium as he happily filled the circular space with elegant music. Some were clearly adventurers who were happily spending their earned gold on booze, and sharing tales of daring do. It seemed like this was one of those spaces that not many went to, but those that did were going to be great company.

Calaena heard the music before she decided that she was going to make her way towards the circle and the wide open area, see what was going on at the time. It most definitely looked very lively, and there were a number of people there but not a lot where it seemed overly crowded. Perhaps she could mingle with the people. Thank god she was use to being around large crowds, benefits of being raised as apart of a noble family. The music was very elegant which had her smiling beneath her cloak, since she had taken to pulling her hood up at some point in time to hide her silver hair once again.

One of the adventurers rose to her feet, and wiped off some of the ale that was around her mouth. Her hair was shaved at the sides and a pony tail formed at the back. She looked rather tall and had tribal tattoos over her body. "Oh looky here we got a new comer." She declared with a grin and rose her mug, the others turned, a dwarf who looked more hair than man, with a large spell book at his side, and a lean figure with their hood pulled up, and their cloak shielding themselves. They gave a nod and casted a weary gaze over Calaena.
