Ok, I’m going to be straight-up here... there was talk about a Star Wars group before, and it sort of fell through, as the OP just seems to have vanished without a trace.

The general idea was that it would take place sometime in either the Great Hyperspace War period or the Old Republic era. While both do sound interesting, I’m not well-versed in either of those, and I don’t know how well I would perform in them.

Aaaaaaaaanywho... What I’m looking for here are ideas. Thoughts on plot, placement in/around events in the Star Wars timeline (whether EU or new canon), things like that. I’d love to get a decent size group going, with players on both sides of the conflict (or even neutral parties). No specific number of players, at least from me anyways... I just hope there’s enough interest for this that it’ll get off the ground without any Millenium Falcon-esque hiccups.

Oh my.

I wasn’t expecting so much interest to pop up!

I agree, KC. Hyperspace War and Old Republic are not my forte, so let’s keep it to the options that have been voted on. Clone Wars, Rise and Fall, and EU. I personally would be fine with any of the three, but I’ll leave it up to you guys for the final vote.

As for your characters, I’m loving the amount of creativity I’m seeing. I’m looking forward to seeing how these characters turn out.

Oooh... I even have a name for him. The Baronet Sevastian tel-Florindel Sergovia Organa-Nahal, the heir to an extremely minor and now worthless Alderanian title, and the nephew (or great-nephew) of a Sith Lord once apprenticed to Count Dooku.

So... that’s a definite maybe, then?

He actually sounds interesting. That name just sent up red flags for me. ;)

Originally I voted expanded universe, but I think Rise and Fall might be the best bet. Imagine a ragtag pirate crew who want nothing to do with the greater conflict of of the rebellion or the empire, but of course, get pulled in somehow. It could start off with small jobs, smuggling, stealing goods to sell to one side or the other, maybe some light bounty hunting. Thinking Star Wars by way of Firefly. I would be interested/willing to play two (or even more) character.

The first would be the Zeltron Zedanadal, Alythra (name is a WIP), part medic, part diplomat, part courtesan. Going on the Firefly theme, think a mix of Simon and Inara, with Kaylee's personality. Goodnatured and overly friendly, Alythra doesn't have a mean bone in her body, and can't imagine hurting another person on purpose. She refuses to carry ways and is always looking for a diplomatic way to resolve conflict.

The second would be Nykei, former professional swoop racer, until she crashed and lost her right arm. The prostethic she got to replace it works fine, but she's lost her confidence. She serves as the bitter and sarcastic pilot and mechanic on the ship, but she is handy in a gunfight too.

Both of those characters sound interesting, and I am COMPLETELY down for a Firefly Star Wars feel.

So we have:
Nykei - Primary Pilot/Secondary Mechanic
Alythra - Diplomat/Medic
Sevastien - Blaster/Pilot (kinda guessing)
Jiljoo - Weapons Expert/Sneak

As for me, I suppose I am tossing around a droid technician, a Matukai adept (non Jedi focusing on physical control, melee fighter), or an exhibition sharpshooter

I'll keep this up to date.

With the welcome addition of Xanaphia to play some female characters I think I will stick with one at least for now. I'm open to playing some additional bit parts to help flesh out some scenes if the need arises or just to have some extra fun.

I adored Jayne in Firefly so going with that theme I'm thinking a gender bent version featuring the lovely Jiljoo (with apologies to the canon Aayla). I'm going with something of a weapons expert with perhaps a bit more finesse than Jayne so she could do some covert shenanigans posing as an exotic dancer or other stereotypical slave race roles before blowing crap up.

Damn. Unfortunately, I’ve never watched Firefly, but I can appreciate the idea behind it.

I’d like to play a Force-sensitive Corellian myself. Not necessarily a Jedi or a Sith (or what have you), just someone who, from a certain point of view, is extremely lucky. Like, to the point that people around him think it’s like a superpower for him.

Soran, would your character be the Captain/Owner of our ship then?

Do we want to play out our coming together? Or simply write up some backstory as way of introductions? Nothing says we can't do a combination of each, part of the group has been together a while, others are just joining as our story begins.

Sevastian likes to assume he’s good at everything, actually. :)

In truth he’s a good combat pilot, a crack shot and a quickdraw specialist, and decent with a blade (he learned to fence, back when he was respectable). He’s also far better educated than you’d expect from a pirate, since he was Alderanian nobility.

He doesn’t trust Jedi, though. Which makes sense since his uncle was a fratricidal Jedi sociopath who led the family into ruin by murdering his father and backing the Seperstists during the lead-up to the Clone Wars. No, he doesn’t really understand the distinction between Jedi and Sith.

Oh, regarding how we get together, maybe mix it up? Each character knows another (chosen at random), and one of us is getting a heist together? One that needs the various skills each character has?

He doesn’t have to be, but if that’s what the rest of you would like, then I’d be ok playing the captain.

As for introductions, I think doing a combination of backstory and new introductions would be nice. Gives us a little bit to work with for the established crew.

I particularly like this idea, so I will start.

Alythra likely knows Jiljoo, from time spent together in some high-end stripclub/brothel, where Jiljoo was undercover for a job, and Alythra was present in earnest. She latched on to Jiljoo, and tried to convince her to take up sex work as her profession, instead of cover. Regardless, Alythra also made efforts to sleep with Jiljoo. (I will leave it up to Lea if she was successful.)

She may also know one of the other force sensitives, but I will let one of them decide how. (She also tried to sleep with them. up to the player if she succeeded.)

As for Nykei, she might know KC's droid mechanic, if he goes that route. Otherwise she might know either Soran's Corellian or Corsair's Sevastien from her swoop-racing days, if either of them would have followed it. Maybe she's an ex, if we want extra drama.

I'm not opposed to xanaphia's idea, though I had also thought that our very lucky Corellian Captain might have won Jiljoo in a game of chance. The ideas are not mutually exclusive either, in my opinion.

It would seem that Corellians and swoop racing go hand-in-hand, so I wouldn’t mind my character being a possible fan.

As much as I don’t like the idea of purchasing and/or winning someone (it rings of slavery, which my captain would most definitely be against), I do happen to like this thought. Maybe he purchased Jiljoo to get her out of the situation she was in.

EDIT: I’ll put up the character thread later today- we’ve got enough interest for it! There will be a layout in the initial post, then everyone can chime in with their character profiles.

Sorry about the double post, but I put up the character thread! Feel free to jump in with your profiles as you can.

Well, just because the captain is opposed to slavery doesn't mean he couldn't have won Jiljoo in a game of chance. Heck, maybe he even cheated to make sure he won that hand, just to set her free.

Sevastian could easily know Nykei professionally (maybe he's raced a few times, or she's done some black market work) or Alythra socially (he has an aristocrat's bearing and can mingle in diplomatic circles, although often as a thief). For drama, Jiljoo could also be an ex of his.

Purchasing her to set her free would work perfect for me. Do you have a favorite game of chance? If so I will write a bit of the game into my character profile since that is about all our good Captain will know about her. I'm thinking she would make a fairly 'troublesome' slave, though releasing her may be problematic as well!

I like the idea of her working something of an undercover job while in a brothel/strip club and having some history with Alythra and it would be very safe to say she would have been successful from a sexual aspect though I would like to discuss a few specifics perhaps in PM if you don't mind.

Sevastian could have easily seen her there if he frequented the same club, though I'm thinking more as a dancer than a sex worker, but I'll think on that a bit and see how persuasive Alythra might have been. I don't know that we all need to be connected before hand but I suppose it depends on how small a world they are starting out from.

I will be going with the Droid Mechanic. I feel like the non-Jedi force user is covered, and we already have a couple of fighters. So I will play an Imperial-trained droid engineer, and xanaphia, I liked your proposed background. Both human, both engineer types, works just fine.

I hope no one is put out but I intend to keep some of Jiljoo's back story to myself for a while. More of her will be revealed as the story develops. Partly this is because I like being mysterious and the other part is I am still kind of figuring her out myself. I think it fits the somewhat serendipitous way our Captain 'acquired' her.

Not sure when I will get to Alythra's character, still trying to figure out her backstory, and why she would join up with a mercenary/smuggling crew. The best thing I can currently come up with is curiosity, and wanting to see the galaxy.

KC,

I do hope you will have one or two adorable little droids to play with as well!

Lea, will definitely be willing to control a droid or two, but droids are tricksy business, in that you don't want to overshadow an actual player. Any thoughts on what kinds of droids you guys wouldn't mind? I am thinking a sentry droid to guard the ship, perhaps a medical droid to assist our "doctor."

Xanaphia, let me know if you have any ideas for backstory with my engineer.

KC, those are great ideas. Though, do we have a doctor yet? I’m open to suggestions there, even if it means one of us playing more than one character.

Alythra is a medic

KC, I don't want you to go outside of your comfort zone. I suppose considering Jiljoo taking on domestic duties, she might feel a little threatened by a droid doing those same tasks, perhaps flushing her out into the rest of the crew more. Nothing I can't function without though so don't feel like you need to fill that role.
