Voidwar (Causeway / Theris)

Castiana tightened a gauntlet-ed hand around the man's neck, her face not changing from its neutral state, though her jade eyes seemed to bore further into him. "And you are in a poor position to mock my mercy," she said, her voice having the same aristocratic trill it always did, but now it sounded ice cold. "Choose your next words with extreme care..."

The man swallowed again before pointing in the direction that the halfling had run "Let me go, and I tell you that little shits secret, and why he was so keen to get the hell away from you" He said.

Adrian looked in the direction the halfing had gone "I don't like the sound of that" he said.

Castiana let her hand relax slightly, lowering her knife. "There's no one to turn you into, no honest authority in this city. I cannot keep you as a prisoner, therefore you shall be released, provided you give a good reason for this entire affair."

The Thug licked his lips, "that little halfing you so graciously help, works for Rotmonger as a drug pusher" he said.

Adrian's head looks up at Castiana, eyebrow raised. "Who?" he asked, looking between the two.

"See, if you had told me that from the beginning, we would not have had this unpleasant affair," Castiana said, returning her dagger to her hip and pulling him up. "Aid your friend, I care little for the Rotmonger and his debtors. I have more important things to take care of."

As they walked away, Castiana said, "The Rotmonger is the name of one of Queensport's most influential, and notorious, criminal masters. I've had... difficulties with his men in the brief time I've been here."

The man shrugged a bit at her words, and when she released him he grabbed his fellow, and dragged him out of the ally.

Adrian meanwhile followed the Paladin, listening to her short explanation of Rotmonger. "sounds like an unpleasant individual... and one that might give us problems" he said.

Castiana wiped and sheathed her sword. "Oh, I hope so. If my presence does not cause the likes of them at least a token molestation, then I am being woefully inadequate in the execution of my duties. But come, we must make for Anyara's place."

She led them into a particularly desolate-looking area of the city, further away from the docks. The multi-story driftwood shanties and beached hulks of the dockside structures gave way to crumbling ruins of the old structures, supported by haphazard scaffolding; the whole thing appeared no more stable here than elsewhere. "The psychic dwells alone, on a deserted street, I hear," Castiana said. "I must warn you that I know precious little about her, and am uncertain even how she will respond to meeting us."

Adrian could help but grin at the woman's back, her ferocity impressing him. "Agreed, no criminal mastermind would be worthy of the name if they didn't at least make a token protest" he replied, following along. He kept his eyes and ears pealed as they traveled, just on the off chance that Rotmonger would make a move sooner rather then later.

As they reached the shanty town that was the docks, Adrian became even more alert, almost to the point of paranoia. He wasn't a fool, and if the rest of the town was as lawless as he had been lead to believe, then this part would be the worst of all. He half expected to be accosted by thieves or beggars as soon as they entered the area. "Understood... would it be better if she met us one at a time then? so as not to shock her?" he asked.

Castiana shook her head. "I would rather not surprise her more than once... though to be honest, if she is as good as they say she is, she'll already know that we are on our way, will she not?" She gave a wry smile at the last statement. Shortly after, though, her demeanor shifted, and she reached for her sword. "Something here is not right..." she said, and Adrian knew that she was correct.

Daniel was leaning against a shadowcast alley wall, occasionally peering down the road where his quarry was said to be, when suddenly he felt a hot, rancid breath on the back of his neck. Slowly, he turned around, to find the hulking form of Glourke leaning down over him. How the bugbear managed to move about so silently given his size was frankly uncanny, as was his ability to seemingly always get the jump on anyone, his current partner included. "My scouts report that the polished bimbo is coming this way, but she's got some white-haired pretty elf with her. You seen anyone of the sort?"

Adrian nodded at the girl "fair point" he said, when he heard something nearby, his ears twitching as he stopped dead. He reached over his shoulder for his mithril sword, "Agreed" he said, calling some power to his fingers.

Daniel hated to be snuck up on, it wasn't right, especially by the big oaf before him. He sneered a bit at the larger creature, confident in the value of his talents and that the big oaf wouldn't try to take his head off before they fought the paladin. "Gee Glourke, I don't know... I've only been watching the Temple for the last couple of weeks and following everyone who's been seen coming in and out... Of coarse I've seen him" the young man said.

Glourke, as always, was unperturbed by his partner's cocky nature. Then again, very little seemed to upset him... which was what made him so terrifying; he had a perpetual grumpy sneer on that ugly, lumpy face of his, from when he was calm to the middle of battle. One could never be certain when he was about to tear a man's face off. "Well. Is he dangerous?"

Daniel let out a sigh at the lack of a reaction. "I don't know... he has those two swords on his back but I have yet to see him use them... They might be just for show, but then again might not." he said. The young man drew out one of his throwing daggers, and one of his fighting knifes.

Glourke tilted his head to one side. "That being the case, we should assume that he can. I would rather be surprised pleasantly. Speaking of which. Splendid," He called out, and a young blonde human woman that Glourke kept around as his "girlfriend" emerged from the shadows, wearing the fur bikini that he'd given her for clothing. "Do be sure to stay out of the way until after this is taken care of. After today's pay check, we will have enough gilders to finally buy that thing you love..."

Splendid gave an unconvincing smile, though at 500 Sovereigns for the blonde paladin's head, Daniel was certain that Glourke was right, about that at least...

Daniel nodded, his gaze turning to a leer when he saw Splendid, his eyes giving her a once over before returning to the road. The girl was defiantly nice to look at, though he never did it for long, since Glourke was always nearby when she was out. The big bastard might not give much of a reaction to Daniels normal antics, but him leering at what was essentially the big beasts property, was probably crossing a line. "Not long now" he muttered under his breath.

Glourke indicated an alley on the other side of the street. "I'll take up position there. We will wait for them to cross between your men and us, then spring the trap. This should be relatively simple. Don't fuck it up." His tone held no malice, as he spoke like it was just another ordinary day. Of course, he always had that gravelly, gurgling voice.

Daniel chuckled "right back atcha... your not the only one that needs that money" he said. He motioned over his shoulder to his half of the crew, watching as they positioned themselves around him and the street. They were all mercs, a few he had worked with before, a few were new, but they all shared a commonality, the all worked for Rotmonger, and they all needed the money.

The pair continued down the alley, only for Glourke and Daniel to jump out in front of them, with more thugs coming from behind them; a mixture of human lowlifes and hobgoblin mercenaries. Swordsister Castiana stopped in the middle of the street. "Well, now things get interesting..." she said aloud.

Daniel heard the woman's words, spoken loud and clear, and felt a shiver run down his spine. The first rule to be a thief, you don't get caught. Followed by the second rule, if you do get caught, run. But he needed the money, and so against his better judgment, He sprinted from cover rounding the corner in moments, dagger raised and ready to strike. But he stopped, mere inches from his target, because she was the single most beautiful creature he had ever seen, and so he froze, starring at her as his brain stopped for a moment.

"Daniel, what are you doing, fool!?" The bugbear mercenary shouted, even as he tugged out a set of bolas and whirled them through the air at Castiana's feet. The lady-paladin had her legs taken out from under her, faceplanting, even as the thugs charged at them from behind. Adrian drew his mithral blade and impaled one, before sidestepping and launching a blast of flame at the others, setting them alight. As they screamed, he clashed swords with one of the hobgoblin mercenaries.

Meanwhile, Daniel found himself looking down at the form of Castiana sprawled out in front of him, glittering in armor that was almost as lustrous as her flowing, platinum blonde hair. She cut loose the bolas, then took a blow from him on her shield before standing up. It was apparent to the ne'erdowell that she was a far better swordswoman than he had ever been, and he fell back, allowing Glourke to come in, brandishing his pair of axes.

The melee was thick, with Adrian wielding sword and spell while Castiana wielded sword and shield. She sliced open a thug's guts, his entrails spilling onto the cobblestones, while Adrian impaled a man, sending a blast of lightning into his body, cooking him from within. Throughout the ferocity, a thug managed to land a solid hit on Adrian, impaling him deeply with his rapier. Adrian responded by setting him alight, but was heavily wounded by the blow.

"What are you waiting for?" The hobgoblin next to Daniel shouts. "Fight!" At this, the rogue, smitten as he was by the angelic beauty of the paladin, decided to change sides, stabbing the hobgoblin in the back. Seeing how badly outmatched he was, Glourke regarded Daniel with his usual calm manner. "Until next time, Cross. Good luck with the Rotmonger..." With that, he disappeared back into the alley where he left his girlfriend Splendid, while the only other surviving thug likewise retreated.

Castiana kept her sword brandished at Daniel, but turned to Adrian. "Are you wounded badly?"

Adrian winced, his hand going to put pressure on the worst of his injuries, the stab wound in his gut. He was thankful for his armor at least, the adamantine chain shirt has taken a bit of the edge off the injuries. Still, he was in dire straights, and he knew it. "I'm in pretty bad shape" he said, leaning against the ally wall to take the weight off his legs.

Daniel meanwhile stood nearby, breathing a bit heavily, "Don't mind me, not like I help or anything" he said. His eyes on a paladins sword, though they drifted to her armored chest every few seconds. His own injuries were fairly bad as well, Glourke having beat him like a drum.

Castiana grunted, and sheathed her sword before wiping it. "I will see to you in a moment," she said, before removing one of her gauntlets and pressing a hand into Adrian's side. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, and a honey-glow radiated from her snowy hand, gently alighting upon the wound. Adrian suddenly felt as though he were whisked away, and for a brief moment he was wrapped in the tender embrace of the goddess Luminai, his lips gingerly wrapped around her nipple and suckling forth the essence of life itself. The vision lasted but an instant, but the pleasurable feeling was sustained, and soon his wounds were lessened.

Adrian shuddered as he felt the energy running through him, his cock giving quite a violent twitch from the feeling. Afterwards he felt much better, his wounds still aching, but at least he was pretty sure the bleeding had stopped. "Better", he said, closing his eyes. He could feel his dwindling reserve of power, and drew on it, shaping the power into a familiar form.

Castiana now turned her attention to Daniel. "Alright, you. Get over here," she said in a commanding voice. "Who are you? Why did you attack us, and why did you turn against your allies? Speak quickly now."

Daniel came forward, stumbling a bit as he did so. "Cross, Daniel Cross... and you my dear are a wanted woman, though I must say your poster simple doesn't do you justice... As for why I turned on that asshole and his friends, well, my words should say enough". he said. "that and a vision such as yourself, well, I couldn't help it" he finished, giving Castiana a wink.

Castiana rolled her eyes, visibly irritated. "So, you switched sides in battle, because I make your manhood twitch? How very noble of you." Her words were laced with irony, but she gently took his face in her hand, which lit up once more with the honeyglow, and Daniel's body was suffused with pleasurable warmth as he too experienced the vision of sucking on Luminai's tit, his wounds soothed.

Daniel let out a groan as he felt the healing energies wash over him, the image super imposed over his eyes would forever be burned into his mind. "fuck... Can you do that again?" he asked, a little dreamily, slumping against the wall in bliss for a few moments while the concussion cleared. when it did the rogue didn't even have the decency to blush at his words, instead giving the Paladin another wink.

Castiana snorted, and shook her head. "You are fortunate I gave you that much," she grumbled. "Now, mind explaining who that bugbear was, and who placed the bounty upon me? Then, begone, my associate and I have business to attend to."
