What Do You Fear? [randomname98766789 and Amaranthine]

It seemed that they had returned just in time to catch some commotion. Two men who had showed up while the young couple were away were causing a scene in the garage bay, complaining about how they weren't getting medical care soon enough. It seemed that one of them had a dislocated shoulder, but even that man didn't seem to be in bad shape. Between being late to arrive and the fact that there were no serious injuries, the guy was a low priority in the scheme of things.

"We should check on that," Alicia said to her husband as she observed the scene. Her mother had went over to talk to them, and by the time that the pair were half way to where everyone had gathered Madison was walking them away. Obviously they had said or done something that got Madison's attention.... That just made Alicia feel more concerned, as one way or another something was wrong.

----

How could one boy look so beautiful? Something about the way Nick looked as his hands roamed around her body made him look absolutely amazing - more so than usual.

"Caught? How horrible that would be," Anna quipped back before they started to kiss. Today had been... slow - and not in a bad way. Slow sex to start the day, soft kisses, the kind of cuddling that she could almost sleep to - and now they were here. Anna wasn't going to be keeping her hands off and Nick had made the first move anyways. She rolled the base of her palm along his crotch and as he took that kiss from her she grinned. If he was going to act like that then she would as well, so she abandoned her spot on the ground to climb over Nick's body. She straddled over his tummy, purposely just too high up to grind on him, and then leaned in to kiss him again, hands on her cheeks.

Bryce felt anxious, judging by the way Madison was acting. He watched her pull one of the men towards a ore private area, saying that they needed the isolation to treat the shoulder. Then, the crowd suddenly became an angry mob. They were shouting at the woman, saying that Americans were getting preferential treatment. Around this time, Travis looked out the window to see the mob forming, then saw Brandon and Derek, two of the guys that were with Chris. Travis pushed forward, through everyone, demanding to know where Chris was. Bryce watched on in shock, uncertain to how this might turn for everyone.

Madison eventually calmed Travis down, taking those two the hotel café. Bryce and Alicia were prompted to follow, so they did. Bryce held his wife’s hand as they walked, of course, just craving the extra touch however he could get it. While Brandon’s arm was being attended to, Travis inquired about his son. They explained that they were tired from avoiding bandits, and Chris offered to drive the truck so that they could catch up on sleep. When he veered off the road, the truck rolled, Chris was thrown from the truck, and died on impact.

--

Nick smiled when Anna rolled on top of him, straddling him. He leaned into her touch, taking her kiss with happiness and passion. His hand started to slide his hands down to her back, against her ass. Nick was quite in the mood already, he did not want to take too much time before starting the fun. However, there was a surprise for Anna. There was something in Nick’s pocket that he intended to use. Back when they raided one of those sex shops, he saw Anna take some rope, he knew where she kept it as well. It felt like a nice time to use it, because he was feeling kinky, and he was feeling like Anna should be the one tied tonight.

She had full control last night, so maybe it was his turn tonight – a nice mix, in his opinion. His hands shifted, suddenly pulling her hands behind her back. There was a smirky look on his face, waiting for her to pull back from the kiss. Once she did pull away, Nick decided to take action, suddenly pulling Anna onto her stomach, reaching into his pockets, grabbing the rope. “I think there’s something here you might have forgotten about…” Nick teased, letting the rope rub against her wrists.

Alicia was sad to hear about what happened to Chris. After everything back at the vineyard, she hadn't known what happened to him - just that Travis had followed after him after he ran way. That had been shortly after he had been caught with a knife above her head. Despite the terrible ending to their time as "family", she could not be happy to hear that he had passed. Travis, obviously, was more devastated.

What happened next seemed like too much, though, even for this world. The man had a strong poker face, because no one had even realized what was about to happen until they had been ushered out of the room and the door lock clicked behind them. Travis got the truth out of them, that they'd put a bullet in to his son because they had considered him deadweight. Travis then went berserk beating on them, and without keys there was little anyone could do but watch and try to break in to the room. Alicia was horrified and, like her mother, wanted to find a way to stop the brutality going on in front of her.

----

So this was how this was going to go, huh? Anna planned to be sweet, and Nick brought kink to the table - and frankly the brunette wouldn't want things any other way. When her arms were yanked behind her body she was perplexed, but as soon as she saw what Nick had brought along she knew where this was going. They were no strangers to experimentation and acting on a variety of interests. Anna would have done almost anything with him, and bondage was a fairly common interest so it was no surprise that they had been there before. It was something she had to be in the mood for, though, because she generally liked to have control over her own body.

Right then, as he looked at her with that dumb smirk on his face that she'd always been absolutely in love with, she was down for this. "Oh whatever will you do to me now," she taunted, urging him to do exactly what it seemed like he would. She would do her best to behave and not find a way to throw his own actions right back at him this time - and being a little brat every time he tried to take the lead was a forte of hers. Perhaps she was just in a more giving mood than usual today.

In the end, Brandon and Derek were both beaten to death. Oscar was severely injured from the door being slammed on his head. There was little anyone could do in that moment. Despite not knowing Travis for very long, Bryce had never seen him act this way. Then again, it was impossible for Bryce to understand, considering he was not a parent. Just thinking about the future, though, Bryce was certain he would lose his shit if he learned that someone killed his child. There was little blame that could be placed on Travis, it just did not bode well for the “no violence” act the residents agreed upon.

All Bryce could do was hold onto Alicia’s hand after understanding how unnerving this was for her, just as it was for everyone else. Hector and Elena managed to remove Travis from the hotel café, pointing out that he killed two men and nearly killed Oscar. Madison was trying to defend her fiancé, but there was not much she could say. Meanwhile, she entered the café to finish the job, stabbing the two dead men through the head so they did not reanimate. “They’re going to banish him. That was the rules we set up.” Bryce pointed out quietly, certain that this meant they were leaving the hotel with Travis.

--

After the taunting, Nick decided to respond with a sly. “Whatever I want. There’s nothing you can do to stop me, either.” It was going to be fun – they did divide up the control often, but it felt like Anna was in control more often than himself, lately. It was time to seek out some playful revenge for her teasing. Suddenly, Nick had rolled over, pushing Anna down onto her back, then her stomach. Her arms were pulled behind her back as Nick grabbed the rope and quickly went to work, wrapping the rope around both of her wrists before securing a knot.

Without missing a beat, Nick used the positioning to his advantage, his hands reaching down to immediately grab her ass, squeezing the flesh with both hands. Just the touch of her ass allowed him to release a moan – Anna was incredibly sexy, just touching her was enough to turn him on. So, he slowly worked on tugging down her jeans, letting them rest just beneath her knees. It allowed his hands to have more direct contact with her ass, which meant his smile and arousal were both growing. “You look really hot like this. I think you’re about to feel really helpless tonight. I have some plans for you…”

Alicia was horrified to watch a man die. She had watched many of the infected die, but never a live human - and now she had seen almost three. There was little that they could do about what was happening now. Travis was taken prisoner, and by Madison's own decree anyone who committed violence was to be banished.

"Seems like we were right not to get our hopes up about this place, my prince," Alicia mused. She couldn't blame Travis for what he had done at all, as intense and overwhelming as it had been. "I'd really rather not leave, but you're right, they're going to want Travis gone. My mom isn't going to let him go on his own, and if he stays... That could cause the trouble we've been trying to avoid."

----

"Quit that." Helpless and rape survivor weren't two things that went together well. Nick may have thought he was being hot saying that, but in the end it was one of the few things Anna considered lines to not cross. Now that he knew about her history, Anna would gladly spell the connection out to him - maybe then he'd stop making her wish she hadn't let the tables turn every time. (That was disordered thinking in itself - one minorly uncomfortable experience and now that was suddenly how he had always treated her?)

She wasn't a one-strike girl though, not for Nick at least - he wouldn't purposely cross a line. Hopefully she wouldn't have to spell out what she wasn't liking, because everything else had been amazing so far. She backed her ass in to his touch, helped urge her pants down as well. She liked seeing and feeling him take control, and in no way did she want to stop. A moment of fight or flight didn't change how she craved him as a whole.

This hotel had been a godsend. It was the place where Bryce and Alicia got married. It would always have a place in Bryce’s heart, which made him hope they were here for the long-term. Bryce felt a great deal of disappointment, knowing they would be forced to leave. Madison decided they could leave first thing in the morning with Travis, though it seemed like only Bryce and Alicia would possibly be joining her.

Bryce did not ask, but he was more than certain Alicia had the intent of leaving with her mother. He doubted she wanted to be away from her mother, which was something he had no problem with. Madison convinced the others to let Travis be released for the night, but the tension was still high among everyone. When Bryce and Alicia had a moment of alone time, the male decided to prompt Alicia in getting their things together. “I suppose we should go ahead and get our stuff packed up, so we’ll be ready tomorrow.”

--

Nick also enjoyed being in control, as much as he enjoyed it when Anna took control. He could not resist focusing more of his touch on her ass once she started to grind back against him. The male decided to use this position to his advantage again with offering a couple spanks to her ass. They were more playful than anything. Afterwards, Nick retracted his hands to unzip himself, sliding his jeans down his legs. One hand reached down, against her back, now wrapping around her neck.

At first, Nick did not squeeze, but he just simply held her head. The other hand reached down to tug at her underwear, slowly pulling the material down from her hips. Once her underwear reached the same level as her pants, Nick decided to slowly squeeze on her throat, his lips attacking her neck at the same time from behind, pressing his cock against her behind, letting her feel his clothed girth as he released her throat.

Yeah, it was best that they got ready to go. Nowadays they didn't have much to their names but they had rather enjoyed being able to settle in to one place, and she had really wished that this would work out. They had until morning - that was all Madison had been able to afford them. Of course, her and Bryce would be joining - family mattered too much in this world to leave behind.

The pair were leaving with more than they came in, with though. They would walk away with wedding rings on their fingers, and that handy dandy bag of bondage gear that would hopefully stay with them for a long time yet. In a very short time this place had become amazing, so as Alicia packed what little she had in to her bag, she wished that the world could be a little different. "Where do you think we'll go next? I have a feeling my mom's going to want to go to the city after potentially seeing Nick..."

----

What Anna liked best was to feel like she was in good hands - any time she dared to hand over the reins that was of vital importance. Luckily her boy listened to her and treated her well so there was rarely a worry there. She found herself absolutely loving everything that was going on now, especially as her panties were being pulled away and her body was left bared to him. From his position behind her, Nick had the vantage point. He could tease and touch, and given the bindings on her wrists she couldn't even do anything about it.

She let out a moan almost the instant that Nick started to press his cock to her body, whether his underwear was still in the way or not. Even tied up she could tease, though - and she was going to do a damn good job of that. Anna could easily rock her wet pussy along him. She was already so aroused that just some light grinding was enough for her her juices to leave their mark along his clothes.

On top of that she let out a whine as he released her neck, though the return of full blood flow sent a shiver down her spine.

“I’m honestly not sure. I think you’re right. She’ll probably want to go back to the place where she was told about whoever it was that she thought was Nick.” Bryce did not word it like this because he was pessimistic, but because he was realistic. Honestly, the probability of Nick actually being the white male she heard about was very low. Despite that, Madison was intent on checking it out. The rest of the day went by with tension all over. It was like you could feel the eyes of the other hotel guests looking at the family with anger.

Madison suggested they all stay in the same room tonight in case they needed to leave early. Bryce figured that was a good idea as well, so he and Alicia ended up on the chairs, right outside the balcony when Madison and Travis were outside talking. The peace and silence was quickly, abruptly interrupted when Andres and Hector barged in with a gun, demanding Travis’ head in that moment. They did not want banishment. They wanted revenge. Bryce stood up beside Alicia, they were both dangerously close to the armed man, but it didn’t seem like there was much they could do.

--

It made Nick smile when he felt the small mark of her juices that were gathered on his underwear. She was already soaked, it seemed. That was a good sign – Nick wanted Anna to have a mind-blowing orgasm each time they had sex. So far, it seemed like things were off to a great start for that objective. Even though Nick wanted to tease her for a longer time, having her rub up against him did wicked things to his own body and his arousal, meaning that he could not hold back for much longer.

Nick slowly pushed his boxers down, but started rubbing himself against her wet lips again, this time, without the obstruction. He simply rubbed his erection against her outer lips, letting her feel him entirely as he felt the wetness now make direct contact with his skin. “Oh… fuck…” Nick breathed out in an airy, gaspy voice. His eyes were wide, growing with desire for Anna, squeezing her throat one more time as he started to kiss along the back of her neck as he gently choked her. It lasted for a shorter time than the first instance, a few seconds ago, that hand now gently trailing down her spine to her ass, spreading her legs open a bit more as the tip of his cock continued teasing her entrance.

It seemed that the trouble of the night wasn't over just yet. For the sake of keeping each other close the family had chosen to stay close to each other in one room - a call that Alicia supported, even if it meant that she wouldn't get a chance at alone time with Bryce. Sometimes there were simply other priorities that had to be dealt with and come first; no on could have predicted that today would have gone with was. Regardless, whether they would get to spend the night naked and in bed or not, Alicia would stick close to her husband's side. She rarely wandered far from him anyways.

It seemed that all of today had consisted of tensions raising as soon as they had dropped. Two men burst in and demanded justice, Travis's head. Bryce was the first to stand up but it only took seconds more for the adults to get back in to the room. There was little that Alicia could do other than watch with wide eyes and try to stand in the middle of things (though still behind Bryce). Eventually the men lunged for Travis, and the only thing she could do in that moment was act faster. Quicker than she could think about what she was doing, she grabbed a knife off the counter and shoved it right in to one of the men.

----

All this time and he still hadn't pushed in to her - it was like he was trying to leave her desperate for him. Unsurprisingly that was working, because Anna was dripping and filled with a desperate need. Each little touch set her on fire, and so by the time that he finally lined himself up with her entrance she couldn't resist the urge to back herself against him. She hoped that the motion would push the head of his cock in to her waiting wetness, but even if she failed and simply ran him along her slit a little more she would be content. At this point she needed him so much that she would take any touch she could get.

"Come on," she whined when her angle wasn't just right. Obviously just doing it herself wasn't working out well for her this time, so she was a victim of Nick's whims.

It all happened quickly. Before Bryce could even process what happened, he saw his wife stab Andres, the one holding the gun. After the stabbing, a melee ensued. The male tried to attack the girl that stabbed him, but not before Bryce stepped up and punched him square in the jaw, sending him back. The other man moved to attack as well, but Travis stepped forward, too. The brawl lasted until Victor Strand arrived, grabbing the gun from Andres. It seemed the ruckus had made quite the noise. Strand now controlled the gun, forcing everyone to stop, ordering Madison, Travis, Bryce, and Alicia to leave while they could.

It was for the best, Bryce did not doubt that. So, these four piled into a car outside the hotel with all belongings. Strand offered Madison the gun, but declined any invitation to join them as he said he was just going to stay at the hotel. Travis quickly started the engine, plowing through the front gates, heading on out of the hotel. Bryce had no idea what was next for them, but he tried not to worry, sitting in the backseat with his wife, reaching over to hold onto her hand. “You alright?” He asked her quietly.

--

For Anna, sadly, her motion only caused his cock to graze against her slit more than it already had. It brought a smirk to Nick’s face because he could tell just how badly she wanted him inside of her. Anna could be insatiable, which was something Nick adored. His desire for Anna was infinite, too. Finally, deciding that she had been teased enough, Nick decided to give her what she wanted, right after taking a more dominant hold. This dominant grip required Nick’s hand to wrap around the back of Anna’s neck, forcefully holding her head down onto the mattress, on her cheek.

After pinning her down, Nick suddenly jolted forward, thrusting his hips after the tip was lined up with Anna’s entrance. Every inch of his cock slipped inside of her at once, striking her with a powerful force, the smack of their hips colliding echoing in the night around them. Nick immediately pulled back, as far as he could without slipping out of her before thrusting forward again, pounding himself directly inside of her again, making sure he went as deep as he could inside the girl. "I know you're going to want to cum... but you can't. Not until I say so."

Alicia was left utterly in shock by her own actions. She had acted on instinct, impulse - someone had dared to threaten someone she considered family. The men here weren't the only ones capable of trying to protect their own and luckily Bryce had simply come to her aid rather than got upset that she had lashed out. It would be very, very bad timing for him to make an issue about her putting herself in trouble and possibly the first and only time she would have been upset if he did so. There were other priorities at play and she had just knifed a man.

They had to go, though. That wasn't optional at all and the family rushed their way out of the hotel. A man of their own had died at Travis's hands and the hotel guests wanted justice. On top of that, another had been stabbed. It was very, very clear that they were no longer welcome there and had greatly overstayed their welcome. After throwing their things in to the back of the truck they had go go - and go they did. As Madison talked about where they should go (she wanted to go to the warehouse she thought she may have heard about Nick at), the young married couple sat in he back of the truck. Alicia was still slightly shocked by her own actions, but she was able to nod. "I will be. I didn't have a choice, he was going to shoot Travis..." She mumbled.

----

He'd pushed her face in to the hard ground - because they were outside, and the only thing between them and dirt and stone was a thin sheet. With her cheek pushed in to the ground she could feel bits of rocks beneath the fabric, but Anna was a big girl - she could handle it. Besides, if something managed to scratch her did it really matter? Her body was littered in cuts and bruises already anyways, what would one more little scrape add to the mix - especially when it was done like this, in a way that had her reeling for what was going to come next.

No amount of anticipation in the world could have prepared her for what was coming, and as Nick pushed the entirety of his length deep in to her tight little cunt, a loud gasp escaped her lips. She was flooded by him, filled - and fucking hell he knew she needed more work up than that. Even wet it hurt her to be slammed in to like that from the start, especially mixed with the fact that the night before had left her a little beaten up. Anna wasn't going to cry, though - a little bit of pain never hurt anyone, or ruined the moment for her.

"You're killin me, Clark," she breathed out between thrusts - she had a love/hate relationship with this kind of game... she loved to hate it. There was no denying that she could be a selfish person, and so to have her pleasure in another's hands was against her nature. At the same time, she still loved to please her lover - and in moments like this who was she to disagree?

The first time Bryce killed someone, he remembered feeling exactly like Alicia did right now. There was no easy way to comfort her in that moment. This world forced every person to become something they were not, if they were going to survive. “Come here.” Bryce whispered to his wife, welcoming her into his arms, wrapping them tightly around her body. The girl’s head was pulled down onto his chest, one hand wrapping gently around her head, resting his hand through the locks of her hair. Bryce reached his other hand down to grab one of Alicia’s, pulling it to his lips, kissing her palm, now resting their hands back in his lap.

“Princess… you did what you had to do. I know that doesn’t make things any easier, but you’re a survivor. You’re the reason we made it out alright. You are so brave, Alicia. You are so strong.” Yes, she was much stronger and braver than Bryce was. She had been through so much in her young life already, now coupled with being forced to stab another human – she saved their asses. It was something Bryce was thankful for. “I’m here for you, Leeshie. I’m right here.” In the end, Bryce assumed that just being there for his wife, holding her in his arms was his best course of action. She was not in this alone. After saying that, the male grew silent, deciding to let her continue if she wanted, or sit in his arms, in silence, if she preferred.

--

After pushing Anna’s face into the ground, into the thin sheet, Nick lifted his hand. It traveled from her cheek, to her hair. Once it reached her dark locks, Nick’s fingers tangled gently at first. Once a nice, big fistful of her hair was gathered in his palm, Nick started to tug on the strands while he thrust. The motion with his hand was pulling her hair away from his body, but also slightly downwards. This way, he could tug on her hair, but keep her head pushed down, settling her into the position he wanted. Cognizant of the hard ground, Nick carefully pushed downwards, not wanting to drive her face into the earth to the point where it hurt. But, of course, he knew it was nothing she could not take, or even anything she did not want.

Once inside of Anna, Nick did slow his eager hips down. It was still moving at the pace he wanted, but Nick was more aware about how rough he was being with Anna. Once she had ample time to adjust to the sensation, Nick slowly supplied more power with each thrust, like he was building up to some crescendo. Eventually, he reached a pace where he was comfortable with, his hips repeatedly smacking into her behind, sliding his cock deep inside of her. It consequently pushed her further against the ground with each movement as Nick was trying to hold back as little as possible without being too over-the-top. When she said that he was killing her, Nick could only grin evilly to himself and respond in a quirky manner. “Oh, I know you love it, Anna. I think we’re about to find out just how much you do…”

Bryce's softness... helped. Alicia knew that out of everyone here he would judge her the least, and she also knew that he had killed for his family before - for her. Even just days back before they had arrived at the hotel. That was the kind of world that they lived in now and so in a way she was just going to have to suck it up. Obviously, that helped naught in the moment. This was the first time she had hurt another person and understandably that could leave someone shaken. She didn't regret it, though. She had done what she needed to for her family, and if they day came where she needed to again then she would.

The brunette accepted her husband's hold with ease - he was right to assume that simply being allowed to exist there with him would be the right course of action. He held on to her tight, even pressed the kiss of an angel to the back of her hand. It may have been a small gesture but it meant the world to her. "That's all I need," she whispered back to Bryce as she leaned in close and took a kiss from his lips. After that she rested her head against his shoulder, took a hold of his arms to pull his hold tighter around her, if that was even possible. They were on the road, so for at least a little while yet they would simply be left to their own devices together. "You and me against the world, huh? I'm really happy to know that no matter what I'll always have someone on my side."

----

There was no denying that she had loved every second - something that had become amply clear within minutes as just the first peak of the night hit Anna hard. From there it only got better, and she loved the fire in Nick's eyes during the moments he took control of her. Afterwards she was able to bask in what the world offered her because for a few moments this was all there was, and all she needed. The boy was hers again - and she was going to do her damnedest to keep him that way - and for now there was little threat, though that may change once morning came. Lazing beneath the stars, not even putting the effort in to getting her clothes back where they should be, splitting a joint with her favourite. In a way it was like old times, and god did she wish that was what she truly had still.

The night couldn't last forever though, and after a while they did have to head back in. This time she made sure the door was locked after the morning's debacle, and then within moments she had stripped herself down to nothing but her panties and clambered to the far side of the bed, tucked against the wall. She spared Nick a good night kiss before rolling on to her stomach until she was face first in a pillow. It was one of those nights where she didn't desire the touch of another person, but even in slumber she had kept one arm spread towards Nick - hand rested on his abdomen or back, however he wanted to sleep.

This world was new. People were forced to do things to survive – things that could haunt them. Bryce knew from experience, taking a life was not easy. Even when it was done in self-defense or defense of a loved one, it was not easy. It might not have seemed like it bothered him, on the outside. On the inside, it plagued his mind constantly. A murderer, a killer – was that forgivable? It was not like Bryce necessarily worshipped any certain higher power. His beliefs were erratic, at times. Even in the absence of a stern belief, morality was not something lost upon him. No matter how good the reason was, killing someone should not be easy. Bryce would have been worried if he or Alicia felt nothing at all. Clearly, that was not the case. “Always.” Bryce quietly reaffirmed the phrase that Alicia spoke. Yes, it was them against the world. No matter how stacked the odds were, they would survive. Bryce truly believed that.

Speaking of surviving, it was time to get the hell out of here. Before leaving the room, Strand placed the firearm in Madison’s hand, reiterating the fact that they needed to leave the hotel, as quickly as possible. Bryce could not agree more. There was a sense of urgency as the group of five rushed down to the bottom level, into the parking lot. Taking one of the remaining vehicles that functions, Travis jumped into the driver’s seat, Madison sat beside him, leaving the two backseats for the younger couple. At this point, after Strand declined to join them, Travis floored the gas pedal, speeding right through the gates of the hotel.

--

Following the excursion with Anna, Nick was restless. The drug trade plagued his mind. If this trade did not happen, the gang might attack La Colonia. These people were innocent. Although it was true that Nick had not been around the community for long, he was beginning to grow fond of it. If there was a chance for him to stop this, to stop something bad from happening, he would do it. How, though? Anna was probably the lightest sleeper in the entire world. Yet, somehow, Nick managed to rise from the bed without waking her, seemingly. The male ended up tiptoeing out of their trailer, now searching for Reynaldo. It took less than ten minutes to find him, explain that he wanted to do the trade. It was the middle of the night, but they needed the darkness for cover while stealing from Alejandro’s drug supply. Perhaps the method was morally wrong, but the intentions were solid. There was no choice here. His hand was forced. Passing through the bus with the bags of OxyCotin, it was time to meet Marco.

The pair arrived at El Pelicano and demanded to speak with Marco. The meeting was arranged, but the news was morbid. There was no need for a deal, because the gang combined forces with another gang, intending to take over La Colonia. If anyone wanted to live, they must leave, or meet the same fate as Francisco and his family. Nick was surprised that they were released unharmed, but they were. Nick did not know who to tell, but he felt like telling Anna was a good start, now arriving back in Colonia early in the morning.

Bryce was her calm among the storm. In the past she hadn't needed that quite like she did now - and in a strange twist of fate she found herself missing the times when the worst thing she had to worry about was whether Nick had gone and gotten himself killed each time he vanished for days or weeks or longer. In the past that had felt like the worst thing that could ever, but now that wasn't the case. Now not only were the dead their enemies, but the living as well. It was a struggle to stay alive, and in that struggle hard choices would have to be made. Alicia was even more grateful to have her beloved at her side than she ever had been.

They fled the hotel in the dead of night, once again left to the wilds. Alicia had no clue where they would wind up, but all she could do was hope that the next place would be the safe haven that she had hoped this hotel would be. It was hard to hold that faith with everything that had been thrown at them, but for her sake, her family's sake, what was left of her bright optimism, she couldn't waver. They would one day find security and peace again. Madison wanted to go to the warehouse where she had first caught light of where Nick might be, that much Alicia heard. It was hard to focus on, though - over and over again her brain replayed the image of what had just occured, from the start of that argument to when her knife slipped in between that man's ribs.

She held her husband close, so close it almost seemed impossible. Even if for now they faced adversity, she could get through anything with him at her side.

----

It wouldn't take long before everyone knew that Nick had gone to do the trade - waking up alone had been rather startling to the young woman, who to some degree was impressed that Nick managed to get out of bed without waking her (she blamed the fact that she took the wall side this time, so he would have just had to maneuver his way out of her hold rather than climb over her). Her first stop had been to Alejandro's, though, and when there was no sight of the boy she was looking for that was when she found herself getting pissed off. Luciana had even been there, so Anna couldn't even give in to the part of her that wanted to turn jealous - Nick just straight up wasn't there.

The scene that unfolded in the back of the pharmacy after that wasn't pleasant. It hadn't taken a genius to figure out what was going on after Alejandro had gone to check his drug supplies and found the stash of oxy gone, and after that it was a struggle to keep Anna rained in. She went on about how she was going to "hunt that fucker down" and "how dare he get himself in to shit like this". She'd been close to leaving only to have Luciana hold her back. For a second the two women had been face to face, both with fire in their eyes. Understandably, Luci wasn't interested in risking this going bad... Nick was already gone so there was nothing they could do about that, but they could avoid letting a loose cannon on to the playing field.

In the end, Anna didn't go - but she was still pretty damn livid. By the time that Nick was on his way back, not too long after she had woken up, Anna was camped outside their little trailer with pursed lips and a cigarette between her fingers.

It seemed like they finally did it – they found a place that would be constant, stable, and safe in the outbreak. They thought staying in the quarantine was going to be safe, but the military bombed the city and the dead broke through. They thought staying on the Abigail was going to be safe, but other people found them and attacked. They thought staying at the estate that Strand found for them would be perfect, but people got in the way again as the dead broke through. Yet again, the hotel was fortified, clear of the dead, right on the ocean, but something happened again.

It was the same story each time – they were forced to leave and find somewhere different to stay, to find a new place to survive. If they did, it was just a matter of time before it collapsed, too. Wherever they went next, at least they were together. If they got lucky, maybe Nick would be with them, too. That was in the future, though. Their plans would just depend on what happened next. An arm was gently wrapped around Alicia’s arm while riding in the back of the truck, looking down at her with a soft smile on his face.

Yes, it was a genuine smile. How could anyone smile at a time like this? “I know this isn’t ideal, but we still have one another and I love you. Somehow or another, we’re going to be alright.” Sighing, he nuzzled their noses together and stole a kiss from her full lips again, threading his fingers through her long hair, nuzzling as close to her as possible. He was just trying to settle in for the ride, hoping that kissing and touching Alicia would help calm him down and continue forward with a clear mind. No matter what, he would keep her safe.

--

Oh boy. Nick had only taken a few steps inside of the community before he saw Anna. Perfect. He thought he would have had more time to think about this, to think about what he was going to say, but it seemed that she was there waiting for him. While he did not doubt she would have worried about him, Nick’s sneaking out of the Colonia was going to be the least of their worries when he told Anna the thing that he learned. Nick chewed feverishly on his lower lip when he reached Anna, unable to look into her eyes. Oh well, here goes nothing.

“Hi… I know you’re pissed, but hear me out, please? You know that this trade needed to get done. I knew it had to get done. I’m sorry that I went without you knowing, after telling you that I wouldn’t, but I was too afraid of what might happen if we ignored it.” Sighing, he would wait for Anna to say anything that she felt like she needed to say, but he would have to go more in-depth about what he realized, too.

“Before you get too mad, I need your help. I know you probably don’t’ feel like helping me or doing anything that I ask right now, but this is important. Marco said he doesn’t need our supply anymore. He joined his forces with another gang nearby. They are going to attack La Colonia soon. We have to help get these people out of here. There’s no way we can fight them off. I found Francisco and his family. Marco killed them. He killed them and didn’t even care. Staying here isn’t safe. Will you at least help me do that? Then you can be mad at me for as long as you want.”

Home wasn't a place, it was where your heart belonged. For Alicia, that meant wherever Bryce was. No matter where that would be, she would follow - endlessly. Alicia was starting to lose faith in the idea of a safe place to stay, but she knew that she had a safe person at her side. She had her family - she had her mother and Travis, and maybe even Nick and that obnoxious girlfriend of his (she almost preferred the sharp, thick tension of the pair being at odds with each other every time they shared a room like in the early days on the yacht over what turned in to her brother walking away from her with that girl at his side) if by some miracle this road actually led them back to her brother.

She had Bryce. Little would mean more than that to her. It was hard to be hopeless in a world where he was still there. Just being around him, seeing that angel face every moment when her green eyes fluttered open, holding his hand as they walked... little things meant to much, and her husband was a beacon of hope to her. He was what grounded her, made her feel like she would always be okay. "I know we will, my love," Alicia said softly as she returned the nuzzle. Obviously she was still a bit shocked by recent events, but with each moment she found herself less tense.

It wasn't long before the truck pulled up in front of a large building, and Alicia could only assume this was where her mother had heard about Nick.

----

Yeah, there was no way that Nick hadn't realized she would be pretty pissed off as soon as he walked back in the gates to the community. Getting out of bed without rousing her was a miracle on its own - expecting any more just wasn't reasonable. Or maybe she was the unreasonable one.... the man seemed afraid to even look her in the eye as he finished his sheepish return to the little trailer that the pair were sharing. No, that definitely wasn't it. Fucker had left in the middle of the night to go risk his own death for the sake of people that he barely knew. It was not unreasonable to be peeved by that, and Anna wouldn't be talked out of it. Once again Nick was valuing others over himself - Anna had to admit that she admired it a little bit, how selfless he could be when he wasn't being a stubborn ass, but sometimes it just got him (and them) in to trouble. Hey - at least she found out that the bit of her that was getting antsy, ready to go, wasn't pointless.

Seemed like there would have to be time to be (actively) pissed off, later though. With an annoyed roll of her eyes, of course there would be something majorly wrong, and a heavy sigh she took a last puff from the cigarette in her hand before dropping it to the ground and squishing it beneath her boot. After that she leaned back in the chair she had been settled in to, grimaced at the boy she loved, and then got to her feet. "I was already going to say that it's time to nope the fuck outta here, so uh - it's time to nope the fuck outta here. We still have a destination, you're healed up.... We're long gone from here by the time Marco has a chance to get here, alright? We can tell the others first, least we can do given they're the reason you're still walking. But I'm still pissed at you, don't doubt that for a second."

The drive was silent. Bryce did nothing but clutch his wife, her back against his chest. His arms were wrapped around the female’s waist, hoping his touch would be enough to help calm her down. They faced uncertainty about their future, which made everyone at least slightly uncomfortable. It felt like things were beginning to fall apart since the hotel was beginning to feel like the answer to their problems. It felt like it was going to be somewhere they could stay permanently. Alas, it was not. They were forced to flee. Now, they were embarking on some wild goose chase for Nick. Maybe it was real, but it might not be.

They parked outside the market, but the entire place looked abandoned. Was this the right place?” Bryce sighed quietly and exited the vehicle with Alicia, climbing out of the bed of the truck, offering his hand for Alicia so she could join him. Once she was down, Bryce did not hesitate to keep their hands together, not wanting to let go of her in such an unfamiliar place. There was no guarantee that Nick was here. Hell, it did not look like anyone was here.

Carrying a handgun in his other hand, Bryce approached slowly. He peeked inside with the others, finding it empty. They finally did find a few people, but they were dead. They were dead bodies that were shot in the head – execution style. Madison pulled out the wallet of the dead male and found an address. “We should look here next. That’s where we will go. Nick will be there.” Madison stated with confidence, turning back to look at the rest of the group as she pocketed the license with the address. Bryce thought the woman was delusional now.

--

“I know… I know you’re pissed. I know I fucked up, but I knew that there’s no way you’d let me go if I told you.” Well, Nick thought there was just something odd about that statement. Anna would not let him go? Why did he need her to let him go? It should not have mattered, but it did. Nick just assumed it was better to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission. Though, to be fair, she already did not give him permission. He assumed it stemmed from simply worrying about him, wanting him to be safe, but it just made her act upset that he risked his life.

“And yes, we can tell the others, then we can leave, but…” Oh, there was a but – Nick knew Anna was probably not going to like this, either. “But… I can’t just leave as soon as I tell them. I want to stay back to help everyone get packed and get out of here. We can leave, but I couldn’t do it without helping the others first. I’m sorry.” Nick knew there was a risk of Anna threatening to just leave without him, and he would not want to deal with the consequence of that, but what choice did he have?

“Now, if you want to yell at me or slap me later, you can, but now, we have to get moving. Let’s find Alejandro and tell him.” Nick was swift in packing all their shit up. It was not like they had the chance to unpack very much anyways, so that did not take long. As they were ready to go, Nick led the way, walking quickly as he went to find the pharmacy so he could tell Alejandro the information he learned.

It seemed that more horrors awaited them here. Whatever Madison had seen here earlier, things had drastically changed. There was no living soul present, not one - and a check inside of the building revealed three dead bodies all shot in the back of the head. It was, plain as day, an execution. Even worse, among the bodies was a child - a little girl. The sight of her slunken over corpse sent a shiver through Alicia's body, something that wracked her to the core with disgust. It seemed that murder followed them everywhere that they went, and all she could do besides let out an audible gasp was cling to her beloved.

"Mom, we don't know that." It wasn't logical to assume that a license would bring them where they wanted to be - after all, their own liscences would say they weren't even from this country. Following the blind lead of a dead man did not seem like a bad idea. Even if it was right, the family had been killed, presumably in cold bold. For all they knew the people who had been here were heading for that very community, and they would walk in to a fire fight or worse. For all they knew Nick had been at the community... and they'd all been slaughtered like these people had been. Alicia couldn't see a way in this worked out as her mother wished it.

Madison wouldn't give up, though. Nothing was stronger than a mother's love.

----

"Oh there's not a chance in hell you would have walked out those gates if you told me you wanted to." On a normal day, in a normal world... Unless Anna had a reason to want Nick to stick around her place, she generally didn't give half a fuck where he wanted to go - and even then the worst she tended to do was seduce him in to forgetting whatever it was that took the attention she wanted, rather than outright forbidding... and he could say no to sex, she was just acutely aware that he wouldn't. Didn't tell him where to go or what to do. This wasn't that kind of world, though, and it wasn't unreasonable to have a major issue with your partner going out and risking their life... especially for people that they barely knew.

"We can stick around a bit... if you really have to. I'm perfectly content telling them that they're at risk and heading out, the longer that we wait the more likely Marco is to get here and we're not getting caught up in that. Like if he shows up and we're still here... If they don't kill us, I might kill you anyways." That was most definitely an exaggeration, but Anna felt like Nick would get her point - she seriously had no interested in getting caught up in crossfire that they didn't belong in. Luckily, they didn't have much to their names nowadays and they were able to move quickly. Now the quicker that everyone else moved, the better. She followed Nick in to the pharmacy, hoping to get this over with as quickly as possible.

"Look who I found, guys!" She declared as soon as she made her way through the entrance, loud enough to catch the attention of the people inside. Alejandro and Luciana already knew that Nick had been gone, so his return either meant something good... or every bad. After the doors swung closed she released Nick's hand and gave him a gentle shove on the shoulder blade. "You tell 'em the news, babe. They're gonna love this."

After hours of working with a few of the others, every room within the hotel was raided. The supplies were being piled together for distribution tomorrow. He hated being away from Alicia, but they had different jobs that evening. When he returned to their room, he could see the lights were off. As he crept closer to the bed, he could see that his wife was sound asleep. Watching her sleeping form brought a smile to his face. She looked so peaceful, so calm. How could he interrupt her? Just as the thought left his mind, the male gently sat onto the edge of the bed, reaching out for the lamp.

He kicked off his boots and removed his shirt, turning to the closet. There, he was going to simply toss his shirt into the small hamper he found so it could be washed later, but a certain, familiar bag happened to fall at his feet. He picked it up and recalled something they spoke about the other day. Bryce told Alicia how much he enjoyed the first time that they roleplayed in the bedroom – she pretended to fight him as he tied her up and took her by force. It was hot. He wanted to do it again, but this time, he wanted real surprise added to it.

She agreed that, whenever he felt like it, he could grab her and surprise her. This was a perfect chance. He ended up just dropping the bag onto the bed beside her, now walking toward the edge of the bed where she lay on her side. Suddenly, Bryce pushed the brunette onto her back and clasped a hand over her mouth to force her to wake up, holding his face near so she could see it was only him when she finally woke up.

--

Yeah, Anna was handling it about the way Nick anticipated. Whatever. Nick had to do this. He would find a way to smooth things over with Anna later – he always did, so how would this be any different? Entering the pharmacy, Nick was somewhat reluctant to tell him the news. It was not good news, it was not something he wanted to admit, because Nick felt like a failure. His goal was to protect this place, to find a way to help everyone safety in the outbreak. That mission was a failure now. Everyone here was in danger of dying.

It was not Nick’s fault, but he felt responsible for it. Part of that was why he felt the need to make sure everyone was safe. Another part of it was because he truly did want to make a difference, to help everyone out. Nick knew his life was a major fuck up for the most part. He did very few things that would fucking matter when he died. This was something he could do, to make up for those sins. There were many reasons for Nick acting this reckless and being willing to put his life on the line for the other people, even ones they barely knew.

Nick could not meet Alejandro’s eyes as he spoke. “I went to meet Marco. I was going to make the drop anyways. I tried to smooth things over with him, but… he wouldn’t have any of it. He said that this place was no longer useful to him. He’s going to move in on us. Soon. He wants to kill everyone here, he told us to get out while we can. We are outnumbered and we are outgunned. He is going to make a move soon. They know how to get in and out of this place. We need a plan.”

The hotel came with long days, but lately it seemed that things were coming together. The halls and rooms had been cleared, and it appeared that the place was as safe as it was ever going to get. For Alicia, that meant she could feel at peace.

It seemed that Bryce had taken longer to finish up his jobs around the hotel, Alicia had mused as she stepped back towards the room that they shared. The day had been long, longer without her beloved at her side... But he would return, and Alicia couldn't wait. At first she had stripped down to her underwear, a matching lace bra and panty set, and attempted to strike seductive poses on the bed as she waited for Bryce to return - but minutes turned in to the better part of an hour, and exhaustion hit. Rolled facing away from the door, those bright green eyes of hers had closed tight and she was lost to slumber.

Not for long, though - it was only minutes after she had fallen asleep that she was startled out of her slumber, and immediately the young woman was pushed in to fight or flight mode as a hand clasped over her mouth. Her eyes shot wide open in fear, pulse raced heavy, fear taking over. The sight of her beloved on top of her was relieving, but it wouldn't kick the adrenaline that had just shot through her system. Alicia was instantly aware of what was going on, though, and a wicked smirk formed beneath Bryce's hand.

----

Hell, this wasn't even Anna handling this badly. She could have easily blew up on him, she was rather famous for her angry streak after all, but instead she was... well, she was frustrated and pissed off, that much was obvious from her tense, tight posture and the hint of venom in her voice. "Tell them there's something wrong" was fine with her, she got it - they deserved to know danger was coming, and the group had been good to the young couple. Without them Nick would have likely died to his injuries and she to dehydration. The part that got to Anna was "let's stick around even though we know people are coming after us".

Provided everyone left easily, that wouldn't be the worst. However, it quickly became clear that they would not go easily. Alejandro didn't want to go, didn't want to tear the faith of those who followed him - already weakened and threatened. Luciana seemed the type to be even more strong willed, but even she would not budge without Alejandro's okay - which wasn't coming. "No, you gotta go. This place won't last through an attack, and you'll get everyone killed if you refuse to go," Anna added bluntly to the conversation, half hoping that a metaphorical slap in the face would get these people moving, as every moment made her more and more antsy.

“Keep quiet, unless you want me to hurt you.” Bryce did not want Alicia to stay quiet, of course. They were literally alone on this floor of the hotel. It was not like she could all out scream as if it were real, but, there were some freedoms they could take that were unavailable elsewhere.

Smirking, all Bryce did at first was look at those expressive eyes of hers. He could see the genuine fear in them that existed at first. He could also tell when she was smirking beneath his hand by looking into her eyes. Fuck – that look turned him on so much. They had not even started.

“The last thing I need is for anyone to hear you, so I’m going to get your mouth quieted down a bit.” As soon as he took his hand off her mouth, a scarf was pressed over her closed mouth to serve as an OTM gag. He made quick work of securing the gag at the back of her skull before climbing onto the bed, straddling her, and pinning her arms down above her head.

“I’ve watched you for quite some time now. I’ve imagined this moment for so long. I knew you were sexy, but I had no idea it would turn me on this much to have you all to myself.” Bryce’s voice was a whisper, playing along with the role he had taken, forcing his lips upon her neck, purposefully attacking her sensitive areas.

--

“Anna’s right. It’s a grim reality, but it is a reality. Anyone that stays here is going to die. They have more guns than we do. They have more people than we do. Besides, everyone with Marco’s gang – they are fighters, they are killers, they are not afraid to use weapons. We have a community that is composed mostly of older men and women, some children, and people that have never even held a gun a day in their lives. Even if we gathered all the capable and willing people up, we would not even have a percentage of Marco’s people. Staying here means death. I don’t want that for any of you or anyone here. We need to leave. We can figure out something once we leave, but we have to go. Soon.” Nick was almost pleading at this point. Everyone looked to Alejandro like a leader or even a father figure in some cases.

If Alejandro said no, then nobody was leaving. If they could change his mind, however, maybe, just maybe, people would listen. It felt like his words fell on deaf ears, though. The older male paused a moment, sitting down a bottle of pills he was counting through before looking to Luci, then, looking back towards Nick and Anna. “No.” He replied again. “Faith has kept us alive so far. Faith will continue keeping us alive. La Colonia is our home. We run from nobody. We are protected through our faith.”

Alicia whimpered - a loud, scared noise beneath his rough hand that played right in to the fantasy she knew her believed ached to itch. It was perfect, really - she'd never seen herself as the damsel in distress type, but literally anything Bryce asked of her she would be more than happy to do. There was nothing hotter to the young woman than seeing the pure lust in her husband's eyes as she gave in to his whims, especially as he realized that she was (metaphorically) not fighting at all. Physically they were about to be in to a struggle, but mixing consent in to something that seemed so depraved made it not just okay but enjoyable.

"Sto-" she tried to get through the word stop before Bryce could gag her, a desperate plea made real by the tremendous acting skills she had discovered she had as they played together in this fantasy before. How real it felt played in to the strange mixture of fear and arousal and, strangely, comfort. There was no way her pulse wasn't going to race as she awoke to find herself pinned down, forced around - utterly helpless, even though this was her beloved. "Please no," she pleaded through the thick scarf that now covered her mouth, and as Bryce pulled her arms above her head Alicia's lips released scared whimpers as she fought against his secure hold on her.

----

It was truly strange, watching someone so blatantly sacrifice the people they cared for in blind faith - and that's what this was, a sacrifice. Alejandro was too stubborn to admit that there were some things that even his faith couldn't save anyone from, and an army with guns was definitely high on the list. Anna also had no belief in "faith" anyways - if there was a god, or some kind of higher power... well, either they it didn't exist or it was so twisted and cruel that she wouldn't want to think it was real. The reality was that unless these people did something about what was coming, they were going to die - and Anna's main instinct was survival, how to keep going and live another day. Self preservation had kept her going for years, and she wasn't a martyr. She wasn't going to risk her own end for people who wanted to face it head on.

"Bullshit," she muttered under her breath as she shook her head, never the tactful type. "Look, Nick - we did the right thing and told them what was coming," she said to her boyfriend as she stepped just a little bit closer to him. Her hand rested in a feather light touch on the man's shoulder for a quick moment before her fingers curled around the fabric of his sleeve in to a rather gentle hold. "I'm not willing to die for them, so I guess it's on you if you want to stay. I'm not."

Expressive eyes conveyed genuine fear, helplessness. Muffled pleas and screams for help sent chills down Bryce’s spine. His Alicia turned fantasies into realities. Locking eyes with the beauty, Bryce momentarily paused the fun, offering the brunette a look of love. Just one glance could express thousands of words, so Bryce hoped she could detect the sincerity and love in his eyes, thanking her for playing along. It would be the last soft expression for a while, because Bryce’s acting skills were desirable, too. Now, the dark-haired male managed to slide into the role of the captor with ease. “It looks like you’re dressed for the occasion, too. There’s already so much of your body exposed for me to play with. I’m going to make sure I enjoy every inch of your body.”

Next, Bryce released Alicia’s arm, only long enough to flip his damsel-in-distress onto her stomach. Considering Bryce’s desire and strength, it was not difficult to manhandle Alicia. The role allowed him to worry less about holding back, being conservative. His actions were flowing with the overall theme of the night. After crossing Alicia’s wrists over each other, behind her back, Bryce found another silk scarf from the bag on the ground. He used the new scarf to bind her wrists together tightly. Since they were experimenting with some rough territory, Bryce believed a balance was brought forward by using restraints that had relatively no chance of causing any discomfort for the love of his life. Every act was committed with her best interest in mind. Now, once her hands were tied, Bryce looked forward to watching her struggle.

--

The impending choice was a classic lose-lose situation. If Nick stayed, there was a small chance he could convince the townspeople to leave. Unfortunately, it would probably require losing Anna, considering she was leaving with or without him. Conversely, if Nick walked away from La Colonia, it would not damage his relationship with Anna he worked so hard to amend. It likely meant everyone here was going to die, though. At the end of the day, Anna had more meaning to him than anyone else in this place. Her touch helped soothe him, even while facing unfathomable discomfort. “Alright, alright…” Relenting, Nick turned to face Anna, not paying attention to the faces of Alejandro and Luciana. Clearly, Luciana liked Nick, so the expression on her face was one of sadness when it became clear he was leaving with Anna. Alejandro felt the same way Luciana did, for different reasons, of course.

“Fine. We’ll go. Just… please, let me try to talk to them one more time. Go to our trailer, grab all our shit, and I’ll meet you near the gate.” Was that a fair enough compromise? Nick hoped it was. Anna knew everything that belonged to Nick inside the trailer, anyways. She could gather those items while Nick poured his heart out to Alejandro and Luciana one final time. If there was no budging, Nick would force himself to walk away with Anna. “Is that fair?” Nick asked – five more minutes was not asking for too much he presumed.

That one moment where their eyes locked felt like forever, pure love and adoration between two bound souls that nothing could ever sever. In Bryce Alicia saw everything she needed in her life - he was her heart and her home, her rock amongst people who never put her first. She would do anything and everything that man ever asked of her without a doubt. Her near-nudity was perfect for the situation, wasn't it? She'd originally stripped down for sex appeal and it seemed like that worked out perfectly for both of the pair - her soft skin was open to touch, nearly every inch bared to her beloved. Only a pretty lace bra and some cute panties dared to cover anything and, really, it was just the perfect amount. She was open to be touched and ravaged, have her clothes pulled from her body by the captor whose motive was clear.... Oh how she was going to have to struggle to keep him off of her, beg and whine and plead no, no, please don't! I'll do anything that you want!

She was pushed on to her stomach, rolled 180 degrees with enough force that she felt almost breathless as her stomach hit the bed. Bryce was never too rough with her, though, and the soft bed beneath them ensured that she wasn't going to be hurt. As he held on tight to her wrists Alicia squirmed, yanked against his hold in hopes of freeing herself. Her head turned to see him pull another soft scarf out of the bag, and she cried out. "Please, stop! Don't do this!" Bryce was stronger than she was, though - Alicia stood no chance to truly free herself. Her chances only dropped once the tie around her wrists was secured, destroying one way that she could have fought back. Did that mean she would stop trying? Not at all - it meant that the young woman was just going to step her game up even more.

----

Anna didn't have it in her to tell Nick no. There was good in him - so much more good than she had ever deserved, more good than one would typically expect from someone with a life like his. It was frustrating at times - and now because Anna didn't want these people to die, they had been overall good to her and without them both she and her favourite person likely would have perished in the desert, but she wasn't willing to die for them. She wanted to be long gone before Marco's gang descended on the Colony. Ideally that would mean that everyone else was gone too, but she was gone whether they were or not.

"Yeah, that's fine." Five minutes wouldn't make a difference - and they'd need to pack up their meager belongings before heading out anyways. It didn't make any difference whether she did that alone or he came with, and Anna could tell that the idea of walking away was weighing deeply on Nick's mind. These people did deserve the best fighting chance - how was even she supposed to say otherwise? "I'll go do that, okay?" She leaned in close and placed a soft kiss to Nick's cheek. While still so close that their faces could touch, she whispered to him: "For what it's worth, I'd sleep better if everyone left too. I'm just not willing to bet our lives on them."
