Office Romances don't work...do they? (Nightstalker x Candi)

Chris smiled and headed downstairs, driving his car away from the entrance part of the hotel towards a more secluded part off to the side. Sorting out his luggage he had one large pull on case, his over night bag along with the small rucksack on his back. His eyes glanced around as he waited for her, nerves settling a little in his stomach as he thought of first the plane trip then the resort.

When she was ready, Claire came downstairs and checked out, handing over the key cards before she grabbed some coffees from the lobby. She took one for him and one for her. She didn't see him right away so she frowned and got into her car, putting her cup in the holder, his in the passenger's holder. She drove around until she found him and pulled up next to him. "Hey, you. I thought you were going to be downstairs," Claire said as she rolled the window down.

Chris smiled as she pulled up next to him, his eyes meeting hers as he spoke before opening the passenger side of the car. "Deciding to leave my car here is all, instead of at the airport."

"If you're sure you want to," Claire said, popping her trunk. "You can load your stuff into the trunk then. If you want help let me know," she said. "Oh, and I got you some coffee."

Chris smiled and put his suitcases into the trunk, soon he was in the passenger seat reaching across to lightly squeeze her leg with one hand. "Ready for the plane now and thanks."

"I'm glad you're ready," She said with a smile. She kissed his lips softly and let him squeeze her leg. "Remember what I said. Any time you feel nervous, just talk to me." Claire took a sip of her coffee and then put her car into gear.

Chris smiled at her words before reaching for his coffee, taking a few sips of it he relaxed even more as his eyes glanced at the large open terminal that stretched out over the horizon, his words spoken softly. "I will and can't wait for first the flight then the resort."

Claire smiled and nodded. "Me too. I can't believe I'm finally going on vacation. And I'm going with you." She smiled, glancing at him as she drove. In no time at all, they were in the parking lot of the air port, checked in for three weeks of time. Once they had their tickets and things in order, she went to the trunk of her car and started pulling out luggage. When it was all done, she locked it up and headed for the actual building. "I'm so ready!"

Chris smiled as they drove and parked, taking his luggage he walked with her towards the main building sliding one arm around her waist and softly kissing her cheek. His words softly spoken. "Claire something to think over on the flight, what would you like to see me wearing."

She smiled at him and kissed his lips softly. "You look wonderful as you are. But if I had to choose...hmm, I'd like to see you in nothing at all," she teased. "But if you mean in public? A pair of shorts and a comfy shirt. Anything you're comfortable in. You always look great to me."

Chris returned the kiss and listened to her words, smiling brightly back into her eyes as they approached the small desk. Stepping towards the long narrow corridor he spoke softly. "Thank you baby, now for nerves to kick in before the flight."

She smiled and patted his hand. "If it makes you feel better, it won't be that long of a flight." She patted his shoulder and checked her baggage but for one tote and her purse. "You know, there's a bar here, if you wanna throw back a shot before we get on the plane. It won't be nearly so bad that you need it, but it will keep you relaxed."

Chris smiled and listened to her words, his lips softly touching her cheek as he spoke. "Claire will pass on the drink, just want to get on the plane I think. It's the waiting my nerves may not like."

She smiled and nodded, walking with him. "Alright then. Let's get through security then. I think they'll be boarding soon."

Chris smiled at her words and slid his arm around her back, making sure his small rucksack was open for presenting to them. Little light reading in it mainly but never knew with some.

Claire presented her purse for searching and when they were through, fixed the contents to the way they were supposed to go. Her tote was easily searched, only a few magazines and a sketch book with some pencils. They let her pass through and then they were ready to go.

Once she had her things back, she took his hand in hers and walked with him to their gate, only to discover that the plane was ready for boarding. She handed their tickets to the man at the counter and then smiled as they were herded through the gate to get onto their plane.

Chris squeezed her hand lightly as they walked through the gate, following behind her as they boarded the plane and took their seats. Resting one hand on her leg after buckling self in he glanced around, then out the window as he spoke. "Only a few hours flight huh?"

Chris smiled at the combination of her words and the kiss to his cheek, head resting back in the seat as he took a few more deep breaths. Eyes closed as the plane began to take off.

Claire held his hand as the plane took off, the initial speed and upward climb the worst part of it. Once they were up in the air, the plane corrected itself and everything was fine--smooth sailing, so to speak. "See? It wasn't that bad," she said, smiling.

"Why don't you take a little nap?" she asked. I might do the same. That way, we'll be totally rested when it's time to check in and we can explore."
