Desperate Times, Closer Bonds (PatientOne & Celeana)

Anna got into the driver's seat, glancing back at her new puppy, hearing it whimper. Now she just had to think of a name for her. Then she glanced at her brother and Stacey.

Stacey smiled. "It was no problem. I will see you Monday," she promised with a smile, after hesitating a moment, then she turned on her heel and left him standing there. Anna buckled in, waiting on her brother to get in before turning to look at him.

"She really likes you," she told him thoughtfully. "Do you....like her?" She asked the question hesitantly, not sure of the outcome, not even sure why she was so nervous about the answer he might give.

Alex looked at his sister as she spoke about Stacy and shrugged.
"Honestly I don't know. She's really clingy and tries way too hard. I feel a little odd around her. I don't know if she's being herself or trying to form herself to someone she thinks I'd want...it's weird."
He said as he shrugged.
"It's been a while since I've dated but I know when someone's trying too hard."

Sighing a bit Alex looked back at the the puppy and smiled a bit as he stuck his finger against the cage and felt the puppy lick his fingers. Chuckling a bit he just sat back and rubbed his neck a bit as they drove home. Once getting home he let the puppy run around and get used to the house. Handing Anna a bag of puppy pads. He'd also bought a baby gate as the puppy would be staying in the kitchen till it was house broken. The linoleum floor would help keep the messes to a minimum.

"Any idea what you're going to name her yet?"
He asked as he sat on the couch as the puppy was trying pitifully to get onto the couch which was cute but that was not going to happen.
"Sorry shrimpy. No couch time till you're house broken."

She started setting everything up, finding a proper place for the pup's things and then she moved to the floor, patting the floor for her to come closer. Smiling as she did, her eyes lifted to her brother. "Hmm...What do you think you should be called sweet girl?" she asked, scratching her floppy ear. She was like a mix of chihuahua and beagle and was utterly adorable. Anna didn't want to be conventional in naming her and go for a common dog name like Fluffy or Spot. No her new pup deserved a name befitting her. "Let's see...what are we going to name you pretty girl," she thought aloud and then grinned. "I know....Let's name you....Harmonia...because you are a perfect example of the goddess of nature I think...Do you like that name? Harmonia?" she asked the pup who looked at her with a crooked glance then pounced into her lap, starting to lick on her face.

"Harmonia it is then," she grinned then looked at her brother. "Now I have to do some research on how to housebreak a puppy...shouldn't take to long. I am determined," she said then got up, walking over to her brother and giving him a hug. "Thanks...again..." she said then sighed and looked at the dog pawing to get on the couch before picking her up, curling next to her brother with the pup securely in her arms. "But you have got to stop spoiling me you know," she teased him, looking up at him with a grin. "It's going to be a bad habit for you if you keep on."

Alex smiled at her as she mentioned him spoiling her and shook his head.
"Oh yes, a car that you need to get back and forth to school and a puppy that will keep you company on the days that I work long hours is definitely spoiling you."
Giving her a wink he kissed her forehead and shook his head.
"Also, housebreaking her is basically just making sure she knows that outside is where she goes potty. So for the next few days keep an eye on her and if she's looking like she has to go, take her out. Best bet is to take her out once every two or three hours."

He said as he pet the dogs head as well as under it's chin. When his phone buzzed he pulled it from his pocket and looked at it.
"What did you think of Stacy?"
He asked his sister as Stacy was asking him how the puppy was doing and if Anna needed help with the puppy. Which was her asking if she could come over, in a subtle way.

Showing his sister the text he shrugged.
"She's got a dog so it's a legitimate question. I think she owns a golden retriever."
He said as he looked at his sister to see how she'd react.

She looked at the text message and then at her new pup. "I don't think she's awful. I also think she really likes you and she's probably trying too hard..." She turned her face to her brother's. "I was kinda bummed that she ended up hanging out with us today. It was supposed to be our day after all. That said...if you...if you do like her, or want to try having a go at a relationship, I think....I think you should. You spend so much time with me, you don't have a life besides me and work. If she's someone you could see yourself with...go out with her...if anyone deserves happiness it's you," she told her brother gently and then brushed her hair back from her face. Truth be told, she didn't like the idea of Stacy going out with her brother but she knew that it was such a selfish think to think. Her brother deserved happiness and a chance at having a woman in his life despite the fact that Anna didn't much care for her. Her personal feelings, that territorial feeling she had toward her brother, needed to be squelched.

Alex smiled at her as he kissed her cheek.
"I wasn't expecting her to show up, but you are right. Today was supposed to be our day."
He said as he sent Stacy a text saying that Anna had it covered and that he was going to help her out. He thanked her for the offer and that he'd keep that in mind that she was able to help if needed. Sending the text he just turned his phone on silent and pocketed it. Work wouldn't call him today or tomorrow so he didn't need it. Once that was done he smiled.

"So. Should we take Harmonia for a walk? Get her used to the neighborhood?"
He asked as he smiled and stood up with his sister. Getting the leash on her he brought a few bags and some treats so that he could work on verbal commands with Anna, training her dog to know the basics like sit, stay and praising her when she used the bathroom outside rather than inside. As they walked around the apartment complex he simply walked with her. He asked about school, about any friends she had as well as what she thought of her new car. All of his topics were focused on her and no one else.

"Yes," she smiled and then scooted off the couch, ensuring that Harmonia's collar was secured before slipping her flip flops on and attaching the leash to her new pup's collar. She was humming, happy as could be at everything that had happened today, well except maybe the whole Stacy thing, but otherwise, she was just glad to have time with her brother when he wasn't exhausted from work. He deserved the break and she aws grateful that he was so willing to spend his free time with her. "Come on girl. Let's go for a walk hmm?" she smiled, glancing at her brother before tugging her downstairs and onto the sidewalk. Almost immediately the pup was sniffing all around the concrete and patches of grass, finding anything it could, exploring it's new surroundings and yipping excitedly.

Alex smiled as he walked with his sister, his hand in hers as they followed the curious pup. While they walked he'd occasionally move out of her way as the pup took a different path. When they got to a bit more of an open area, Alex slowly released Anna's hand so that she and the pup could play. Watching them from where he was standing he smiled and kept his hands in his pockets. He really did love seeing that smile on her face.

The one that said she was actually having fun, not trying to put on a face for someone to see and think that she was having fun. Hell, six months after their parents passed he didn't think he'd ever see that smile again. The first time he saw it after their deaths he'd actually cried and spent about ten minutes hugging her, welcoming her back. Now, he got to see it quite a bit. He made a promise to himself that he'd try and get one of those smiles out of her at least once a day so she'd never have to be that sad again.

So far, he was holding up to that self promise.

It was a little over a week later, a tuesday afternoon and Anna was busily copying down notes in her third period class. History. It was certainly one of her favorite classes in what seemed to be never ending busy schedule. In the past week she had gotten used to driving herself to school, making sure to get up early enough so that her brother and she could at least eat a bit of breakfast together before they both went off to work and school, respectively. Harmonia had definitely adjusted to her new life and had easily become house broken after just a few days of training, though when alone in the house, she was designated to use the puppy pads on the kitchen floor for any bathroom usage.

All in all, everything about life seemed to be good, better than good actually and she was just glad for the normalcy, even if her brother was determined to spoil her rotten in the process. She was midway through class when there was a call at the teacher's desk. As Mrs. Thorpe walked over to answer it, she wasn't paying too much attention until the woman called her name and told her to go to the front office and to take her things with her. Frowning, not understanding why, Anna did as she was told, suddenly feeling a cold chill run down her spine. Something bad had happened. It was the same feeling she'd had when she had gotten that look from her brother in the middle of the night, as the phone rang and they'd been told to get to the hospital as soon as possible.

She just hoped that the chill in her spine, was nothing and that the ominous feeling that gnawed at her, was her own nerves.

When Anna got into the office the Dean of the school was there as well as the assistant Dean. Knowing her history with her parents they informed her that there had been an accident at the factory where Alex was working and he was in the hospital.
"He's fine, but the doctor said that his left leg is broken and he'll be off work for a few months till it heals to avoid any further damages. Given how he's your Guardian, we've taken the necessary steps and you can go home. Your brother has been dropped off at the house, so he's there waiting for you."

There had been a malfunction with one of the timing belts in a machine and when the belt snapped, it caused large pieces of the metal machine to break off from the torque of the engine. One of those pieces ended up hitting Alex's leg as he was trying to move some of the workers out of harms way. He had a few cuts along his head and shoulders from the fall to the ground but otherwise he was alright. His left leg was in a cast from the base of his toes, to just under his knee cap. Sitting at home with his foot propped up on the couch Alex was pretty loopy from his medications.

Seeing Anna as she came through the door he smiled at her.
"Can't seem to stay out of the hospital huh?"
He asked as he had a few patches of gauze on his forehead and one coming up along the back of his shoulder but he looked fine. Holding his arm out he pulled her over to him and smiled.
"I'm okay though. See."
He said as he pointed to his smile. He was trying to make sure she knew that he wasn't going anywhere, just like he promised her.

Anna had wasted no time getting home. All the while, even with the urgings of her school's leaders, she felt sick with worry. After screeching to a halt in her usual parking space, she left everything in the car but her keys before rushing up the stairs to her apartment and flung open the front door. She put her keys on the counter, shutting the door behind her and then let her eyes catch sight of him, all bandaged up and bruised, his leg in a cast. The tears that had threatened began to spill as she rushed toward him and let him pull her close but then she was sobbing, mostly from relief that he was in fact alright minus the scrapes and broken bones. She turned away and wiped her eyes and then looked back at him, reaching up to touch the bandages and then looked at his leg, touching the cast. "I thought it was going to be so bad...it is bad...Jesus..." she whispered then looked at him as Harmonia came to sit on the couch between them, trying to lick at her face. Looking down at the pup, she tried to get a hold of herself before looking back at him, wiping her eyes again.

"I'm glad you're...okay," she whispered softly then kissed him on his cheek, laying against him while one hand continued to give Harmonia her attention.

Alex just let her lay against his side as he rocked her from side to side. Stroking the back of her head for a while and occasionally placing a kiss on the top of her head.
"Well looks like you'll be seeing a lot more of me huh? May even have to take care of me cause doc doesn't want me moving much for the first few weeks to let the bones settle."
Most of the bones in his left foot had been cracked or broken completely and then of course his shin.

A rather large piece of metal hit him. The doctor said he was luck to have not lost his limb. After a few moments of snuggle and calming her down he smiled down at her.
"So. Take out tonight and a movie?"

She sniffed and wiped her eyes, giving a fervent nod. "I'll make sure you're looked after," she promised and then looked down at Harmonia, scratching his ear before turning to look back at him, her eyes still filled with relief and fear mingling together. "And sure....take out and a movie...." She sniffed then slowly laid her head against his chest, breathing out deeply, letting all of the worry and fear escape her in that one breath as she closed her eyes and thanked whatever God there was for her brother's safety. After regaining some semblance of self control, she got up and then went to his room, grabbing his favorite pillow and blanket, an almost motherly instinct taking over as she made sure he was propped up all nice and comfy. As Harmonia licked at his face, she ordered take out, enough for a late lunch and supper and then walked to her room, leaving the door partially open as she gathered a set of clothes that weren't her school uniform. Unknowingly showing off her slender frame as she stripped down to her bra and panties, searching through her closet for something more casual.

"I'll go get our food. Do you have any prescriptions that need filling?" she asked grabbing a pair of jeans and then wiggling into them and rummaging through her closet for a tank top.

While she was off changing he was moving Harmonia so that she was laying between his legs, curled up in the blanket so that she didn't move around too much. Giving the dog a few pats on the side he looked down the hall as she spoke and was greeted by the sight of her back. Her bra and panties and a very developed body. His eyes widened a bit and for whatever reason he couldn't tear his eyes away. Her legs were smooth and strong, coming up to form a wonderful and soft ass. Her lower back held two small dimples showing off the muscle that was there before moving up to smooth and toned shoulders. As she turned he saw the smooth curvature of her breasts and flat stomach.

Shaking his head he looked away and rubbed his face a he wanted to stab out his own eyes for staring so long.
"Umm. No, I have all my meds for now. I'm good there. My wallet is in my jeans on my bed. Just grab the cash out of there."
He had two fifties in his wallet so it was more than enough for the food and whatever else she wanted.
"Feel free to grab whatever you want. How are you doing on gas?"
He only asked because slamming your gas pedal to the floor tended to wear down the gas a lot more and he had a feeling she was speeding from school to home.

She came out after tugging on a tank top and then glanced at him. "I'm fine on gas," she took a deep breath and then grabbed one fifty out of the wallet. "I got enough for supper and to get some stuff to make you lunch while I'm at school," she said then walked over to him, reaching forward, touching the gauze on his head before biting her bottom lip. She turned and gave Harmonia a scratch then grabbed the remote to the TV, handing it to him and fixing him a glass of ice water. "Alright. I'll be back soon," she promised and then kissed his forehead before slipping out the front door, pausing only a moment to grab her keys.

The entire trip took about an hour and she returned home with Italian food and a few groceries to get him through lunch. She'd also made a call to his work, making sure that his worker's comp would be enacted immediately as he likely wouldn't be back to work for three to six months. There would be a bit of a pay decrease until his return but it was manageable. it just meant kicking her own job aspirations to the back burner until he was better because he wouldn't be able to do much while she wasn't home. School was something she could not afford to miss but the work, well she could do without that for the time being. "Hey," she said, coming in, shutting the door with her foot before walking into the living room with their lunch slash dinner. She laid the Chicken Parmesan pasta on one of those TV dinner trays before him and then smiled at him as she laid out the garlic bread and a small salad. "Here we go...Your favorite."

Alex was sitting on the couch, the remote for the tv hadn't moved from the table where she left it as he was simply reading a book. He'd been reading a lot instead of watching tv unless it was him and Anna together on the couch and he'd watch some tv with her. He'd taken his shirt off simply because it was bugging his shoulder and now he was laying on his side. Looking up as he saw her come in he instinctively tried to get up to help her but stopped as he winced. Damn foot. Grumbling about his inability to do ANYTHING he sighed as he stroked Harmonia's head. Taking the food that she handed him he smiled and set it on the table.

"Have fun?"
He asked as he sat up with a wince as the movement was making his shoulder a little tender. As he sat there he'd managed to get up and move his phone from his pants to the coffee table. That alone had been a struggle. Fifteen feet and he'd worked up a sweat and caused himself some pain. He had seven missed calls, all from Stacy and almost double that in texts. She was mainly asking if he was okay. He'd sent her a text telling her what was going on and telling her he'd be out of work for a while. He told her that his sister was watching him.

Over the week Stacy had been blowing up his phone a lot and trying to talk to him at work but at work he was all business. NOW. He had a lot of time off. That was nice but at the same time he was worried. He didn't want to date Stacy and had told her he didn't have time to date. Yet she still tried.

"Have fun? Meh...I'll have more fun digging in to the food I just bought," she laughed then stood up, walking to the fridge to pour herself a bit of soda and then returned to the living room, switching the TV onto the channel hooked up to the game system. After browsing Netflix, she ended up finding a nice Suspense show to binge and promptly turned it on. Once that was accomplished, she grabbed her own plate of spaghetti marinara and poured the Italian vinaigrette over her salad. "Mmm...I'm starving," she sighed, tossing the salad a bit before digging in. She turned to look at him as she finished her first bite. "You okay...?" she asked softly, still a little worried about him but she didn't want him more uncomfortable or pained than he had to be. He really had done a number to himself and it only caused her to want to tell him to never go back to that damn job.

"you know...On the bright side, you'll be out of work long enough to focus on school. You could make up a ton of credits. Isn't the new semester starting for you?" she asked, taking another bite of her salad.

Alex smiled as he shook his head.
"School's expense honey. I would but I can't be spending that kind of money yet."
That and he was saving all that money for her college if she needed it. He had an associates degree so that was good enough for him. He had it in general studies and a minor in business. Not the greatest but not too bad either. Running his hand along her back he smiled and while he was hungry, he was eating slowly just because his medicine was making him tired. On top of that, the annoyance of Stacy constantly asking if she could help was really working on his mental strength as well.

Setting his food down he covered it to keep in fresh and laid down a bit more on the couch so that he could relax. He rest his hand on her thigh as he laid there and after about ten minutes he was out like a light. His hand staying on her thigh. As he slept his hand did travel up a little bit, resting on her inner thigh but that was it. He didn't move too much in his sleep normally but the injury on his shoulder made him fidget a bit so that he could get comfortable.

As his hand rested on her thigh, she didn't think anything was out of the ordinary and as he crept his hand up, she turned, only to see he was asleep. Staying as still as possible, she glanced at Harmonia who was curled up to him like a real guard puppy and smiled before looking back at the tv again. Shutting her eyes as his fingers drifted further up, she suddenly felt a dose of warmth pool low in her belly, and cause a throbbing. Swallowing hard, she glanced at her brother again and once more felt the most unnatural urge to kiss him as if he were Sleeping Beauty or Snow White or something. Ever since she'd seen him with Stacy, that thought had been quite persistent, growing stronger with every hour that passed. What was wrong with her? She shouldn't want to kiss him like that. They were siblings. Closer than most sure, but still siblings.

She took his hand slowly off of her thigh and then gently leaned over, tracing the lines of his jaw before ever so gently pressing her lips to his. Hesitant, just a moment and quite innocent, before she drew back and flushed, hating herself for the feelings stirred up inside of her. Gently, she grabbed a blanket and covered him up, grabbing Harmonia. After putting the food away and letting Harmonia out for a walk, she let the pup curl up next to him on the couch before heading off to her own bed for the night, consumed by some unnatural need, that only felt right.

When Alex woke the next morning he was sore as hell and as he sat up he groaned, stretching his arms over his head which he realized was a bad idea as his shoulder screamed at him for doing that. Wincing he dropped his arms and cracked his back a bit. Looking over at Harmonia he noticed she was whining to use the bathroom. Wincing as he stood up he was still in his shorts and no shirt. Using his crutches he grabbed her leash and decided to let Anna sleep. Hobbling his way outside he took the dog outside to use the bathroom.

Wincing as he moved, mainly whenever his foot tapped the ground. Harmoina was getting better about not pulling on the leash so that was helpful. When she was done doing her business he wobbled back up the stairs then opened the door to see Anna standing there looking a little annoyed.
"Um. She had to use the bathroom."
He said as he took her leash off and then wobbled into the house and smiled, kissing her cheek, a little closer to her lips then he'd meant as he'd stumbled a bit.
"Morning."

"You can't be hobbling around like that you know," she said, having been worried to death. She had nearly been opening the door when he came through it. She took the leash from him then helped him back to the couch. "The last thing you need to do is break your neck going up and down those stairs. Are you crazy?" she asked then covered him up again, unleashing Harmonia and then moving into the kitchen to whip up some breakfast, feeling frustrated and angry that he would do something so nuts. Swallowing her anger, she glanced at him then looked down. "I don't...I don't want anything bad happening to you...and you need to rest as much as possible. Wake me up next time...and when I'm gone...well....I'd prefer it if you just let Harmonia do her business on her puppy pad because I don't want to get a phone call saying you've busted your head open by walking on crutches down the stairs. I nearly had heart failure yesterday when I learned about your accident," she said, popping some toast into the toaster and then turning on the frying pan to get some bacon going. Walking back into the living room, she looked at him and bit her bottom lip. "Please....please Alex...don't do something like that again...I really don't want you getting more hurt than what you already are..."

Nodding to her he sighed as he sat down and almost pouted.
"I feel so useless...that's the problem."
He said as he basically went from doing everything he could and now he was a cripple and wasn't supposed to do anything. Reaching out he wrapped his pinkie around hers and kissed her hand, much like he did when she was younger.
"Promise."
Giving her a smile he simply sat there and propped his foot onto the couch, holding Harmonia who was hopping up like she wanted to be up. Setting her on the couch she took up her spot on the couch and just curled around his good leg.

Looking over at her as she made food he noticed she was in her pajama's and sighed a bit.
"Anna. Since we've gotten that out of the way, wanna go put some pants on?"
He asked as she was wearing her tank top from last night, but she'd apparently taken her jeans off so she was just wearing her panties. Smiling a bit he lifted his hand to cover his eyes.
"I didn't see much, promise."

She glanced at him and then down. In her worried state, she'd nearly blazed outside half naked. Her gaze went to him and then she snorted before rolling her eyes. "it's not like you haven't seen it before," she mused then frowned before turning, making her way into her room. She put on her school uniform skirt and then came back out to the bacon, making sure his breakfast was perfect before bringing it to him with a fork. "Are you really that freaked out that I walked around in a little in my underwear?" she asked then smirked. "Not like we didn't play around half naked as kids...and besides you're my brother, me walking around in panties shouldn't bother you," she teased him but felt her cheeks turning red. It hadn't been like she had been flashing her panties on purpose, and yet, she felt a little naughty about it. As if part of her liked the idea of teasing her brother with half nakedness. She swallowed and lowered her gaze. She really was sick in the head to keep thinking like this.

"you want some milk?" she asked then walked back into the kitchen to fix her own plate, trying to ignore the heat in her cheeks. Hopefully he didn't have a single clue of the thoughts moving around inside of her head.

Alex smiled as she said that it shouldn't bother him. Well it didn't, what bothered him was how he looked at her. He was focusing on parts of her body that he should NOT be focusing on. Watching each shake of her hips, seeing how her backside moved, the smooth curve of her pelvis leading to her womanhood. Rubbing his face he smiled.
"Nope. It doesn't bother me. I've always told you that you had a cute butt."
Back when the opinion of boys in her class mattered, she'd used to worry about how her butt looked and Alex just told her it was very cute and that the boys were blind.

Then again back then she didn't have a lot of figure because she was young. Now she had curves in all the right places and her ass was down right eye candy but he still went back to the 'cute' term just to try and convince her that it didn't bother him. While he was mainly trying to convince himself.

Her cheeks flushed as he told her that she had a cute butt and then poured him some milk before walking into the living room again and setting it down with her breakfast, hoping she didn't look as affected as she felt. The last thing she needed was revealing to her brother, what strange unwarranted thoughts had popped into her head since Stacy had shown interest in him. The taboo nature of them were better left buried and never ever talked about. "Eat your breakfast," she ordered gently then turned and went back into her room, walking to her closet and grabbing her blouse and blazer and school tie, shutting the door before she began to dress. Though really it was to give herself a few minutes to get herself together. After dressing for school, she came out brushing her hair and smiled at him. "I trust that you'll stay there. I'll come home for lunch break and then go back to school. make sure you have something to eat,. Can't have you wasting away on the couch can I?" she asked with a soft smile before walking over to the dog dish to lay out food and water for Harmonia to have while she was at school.

"And I'm serious. Don't even think about taking Harmonia out again...You're hurt enough without fighting a stairwell..."
