Yu-gi-oh 5Ds: Rise of Darkness and Corruption (Athene/ImaginaryMuse & Razgriz)

Hotsuma seemed more than a little pissed; it was bad enough that she tried to kill him, but now she wouldn't even have the guts to come back and face them?

"Great...And you say I changed." Hotsuma muttered bitterly; this wasn't like Yuna at all. He'd be sure to give Rose a thorough ass-kicking for this...If he could even find her that is. Regardless, he would follow the trio into the control room...Where he would be briefed by Yamichi on what they discovered. "So...That's how Sector keeps logs. And here I thought they fucked up my face just to get even with me or some shit." Hotsuma would reply, running a hand over the marring of tattoos on the left side of his face. It had stopped hurting a long time ago, but...Even some times, he could feel it tingle. Reminding him of the day he got it.

And as Hajime went on about his visions of Yuna, Hotsuma too crossed his arms; part of him just wanted to be done with her. She'd made it clear when she let Rose take over and try to kill him, even if he tried to save her from becoming what he had. Hard as he fought...He was losing. And honestly? That scared the crap out of him. But...For now, he kept those thoughts private. It played into why he wanted to come back in the first place...But now with Yuna gone, he had to delay it a little longer.

As much as he hated Yuna, he still remembered what she said when he found out she wasn't a guy:

"None of this excuses me for the deceit. I realize and understand that. I'm not going to ask or beg for you to forgive me. If you wanna cut all ties with me, I'll understand. However ... don't do it with this place. With Yomi. You're the first - and only - person to know I'm not Yukio. The only person who's fucked up is me so ... please ... don't take any anger you likely have out on them. They're just being smart and trying to stay away from Sector."

Even if it was outright attempted murder this time around...He had asked for it, if only for her sake. But...She was also right in that he couldn't take his anger out on them. They hadn't asked for their bosses to abandon them, even if he himself didn't really feel like he could lead anymore.

"Ugh...Why you waste your time with her I'll never understand. Were I back at full strength, you wouldn't have even come back to hear this drabble." the Emperor groaned, Hotsuma choosing to ignore him while Hajime would keep his words succinct and finish. Rubbing the back of his head, "I mean, I'll try...But I don't even know if I can. I haven't exactly used my powers that way...But if yours work the same way Yuna's does, then we can try it." Hotsuma would reply.

Coming forward, he tried to think of how this even worked; when that fuckhat Divine did his shit, he always placed a hand on them. Hotsuma would shakily reach out and place a hand on Hajime's head. "Forget it...You'll not use my power for this innate purpose." the Emperor growled, his voice now able to be clearly heard; even with how weakened he was from Hotsuma's injury, Hajime would feel the weight of the demon lord's voice in his mind. A power that was not to be trifled with. "And I'm telling you right now you can fuck off...Think about it this way. We get her back, then I can stop worrying about her. You'll have all the peace and quiet you want." he would reply...His mind almost instantly flooded with visions, the Psychic energies mingling within the other's and producing feedback.

"Damn...She does look like shit." he commented, sifting through the memories. However...It was here that Hajime would also get his own glimpses. Of Hotsuma's father being murdered, of his brother being beaten and dragged away by Sector...But that wasn't all. He would see Hotsuma's own dreams. Of destruction. Of watching the Tops burn, the bridge completed and letting every delinquent turn the Tops into his or her personal playground. His deepest hatreds unleashed for him to bear witness.. It wasn't intentional, and Hotsuma wasn't even aware that he had let Hajime seen it or that they were being transmitted across this temporary bridge.

Once the visions stopped, he would pull his hand back, "Well...Far as I can tell, they're real. I don't really know what a fake one looks like. But...When I was hospitalized, I heard a weird static noise in my head. Kind of like what I heard in some of those memories...Whatever they're doing to Yuna, it isn't Arcadia and it sure as fuck isn't Divine. Even they couldn't repress Rose like that."

Hajime

That's all I'm asking. Try. I .... would assume it's the same. I refused to use these a lot; somethting I kinda regret a bit now.

And as Hajime felt Hotsuma lay his hand upon his head, he ignored the instincts to block him - and the visions - out.

The first would easily be the tamest, with Yuna merely being bound and kept in the dark. Literally so. The main feature that could easily been detected was a massive bruise on her midsection, easy to see courtesy of the outfit - lack of - she was wearing.

When the second one started up, she was breathing heavily, as if she finished up with another session. More bruises were seen ... but that was it. A hint that whoever this as had yet to resort to using knives, guns, or other tools that could prove to be lethal in the right hands.

It wouldn't be until the fourth one that Hajime had to fight against himself once more. His hands gripped the table beside him, ensuring nothing disappeared just yet.

"Not again! YOU CAN'T JUST DO THAT, NO MATTER FOR HOW LONG! IT'S FUCKED UP! GET YOUR HANDS OFF ME! DAMNIT, ---!"

It was obvious she had meant to say a name. but it got cut off before she could reveal it. More screams would follow -- and this would be one of the times he would see what Hajime meant; he couldn't see her, but he could sure as hell hear - and confirm - it was indeed her voice.

The fifth had the image of her with practically lifeless eyes and the hopeless expression that made Hajime break down.

Finally, the last ones consisted of Yuna in her previous form -- as far as weight went. She'd definitely lost a considerable amount of weight. Few places were free from marks of any kind, and a few had indicated that now, more deadly force had been used. Her eyes opened ... barely. Though with how glazed over they were, it was borderline impossible to even see the irises of her eyes.

What in the .... ??

It wasn't his past that bothered Hajime. Itt was what could have easily been a very grim and dire future. He didn't seriously want that ... did he? But that was why he kept his questions to himself, much like how Hotsuma had kept the blue-haired lieutenant from hearing certain exchanges.

I guess ... if it felt fake somehow. It's probably easier to feel if it's false than see, but ...

Hajime nodded, grimacing as Hotsuma agreed these probably were real.

W-Wait! You heard that too?! Fuck. Well ... that does kinda help. I've been trying to reach out to her with telepathy, but it hasn't been working. And I've heard the same thing; a static-y radio sort of sound.

... Was it good or bad that he was confident this wasn't Divine?

Both, he decided, though Hajimee ended up leaning more towards the latter. Who was even worse than Arcadia?

.... Well, they'd probably learn soon enough. Hopefully.

... Thanks for checking, then. Yamichi? How long do you think it'll take to locate her? Got a guess?

"Yeah...Didn't know what it was at first, but now that you shared what you did with me? It makes more sense. Just sucks that now I know what it means." Hotsuma replied; well, at least they had an idea now. He even tried reaching out to Yuna herself...But got met with silence. If what he saw was true...Then even if she wasn't being blocked, it was unlikely she would even have the strength to communicate like this. No...All she needed to worry about was keeping herself alive, no matter what at this point.

But when Hotsuma heard Hajime ask about locating Yuna, he raised a brow, "Eh? You found a way to locate her mark?" the Disciples' boss asked, Yamichi nodding, "Well...I'll need some time to calibrate the sensors, probably a day or two...Three at the absolute most. So far, the range only extends to the Satellite...But if I can get some parts, I can put together some amplifiers that should increase the sensitivity of the detectors. It looks like whatever they use in those marks is some kind of radiophilic dye. And this..." Yamichi paused to reach into a side cabinet under the desk he was assigned at, "Is a handheld tracker. If I'm right, I can modify this to link up with the locator system here in this room. And if we can get someone to go out...We should be able to find Yuna and bring her back."

Hotsuma then just said, "Well...Then just let me know when you got it ready. I'll go get changed up and wait for ya." Yamichi just blinked, "Hotsuma...You're wanting to go out there? You just got back, and you were stabbed!" Hotsuma just grinned, "Come on, man...I've been shot at, tazed, and beaten like hell these past weeks. I think I can handle a little rescue operation. And you...Hajime, I suggest you get cleaned up. If we're bringing Yuna back, I don't want her talking my ear about how you look worse than her, alright?"

Takeshi then asked, "I'll go with you; I imagine Yamichi's going to be busy trying to keep the signal strong or something...And we can always use another right?" Hotsuma nodded, "Hey, the more the merrier. In the meantime...If you guys don't mind, Imma go change. These prison-hospital robes aren't my style; I don't pull off the stark-white as well as some people." Of course...That still left with the issue of actually getting clothes. Well, with any luck...He could always try to steal an outfit again or something.

The next day in the Tops, Lua was getting amped up. These last few tournament matches were awesome...Beyond awesome, actually; that word didn't do them justice as far as he was concerned. "Man, I wish I was participating in the Fortune Cup! Can you imagine how many strong Duelists there? Hey, you think Yusei's going to be there? I dunno, I got this feeling that he will be!" Just like before Yusei left, Lua was practically bursting at the seams with energy. And even after the 'criminal' left, Lua took the opportunity.

"Especially that Takeshi guy! I've never seen anyone use an Undead deck like that! I want to put it against my dragon and see how it holds up! Just think, it'll be the Power Toolbox versus the March of the Undead! A clash between titans!" he continued, flexing his arms playfully...But that all soon stopped when he heard a knock at the door. "I'll get it!" Lua shouted...But when he went to open the door, there was no one there. But looking down, he saw an envelope...With Luca's name on it.

"Hey Luca, you got a letter! It looks important!" Lua hollered, running back to his sister. "It says something about a Dueling Committee on the envelope...Hey, does that mean you got invited!? Awh, lucky! Don't worry, your big bro will be there cheering you on! You're plenty strong, sis, so you should have no problem wiping the floor with them! You're one of the Celebrity Twins, after all!"

Hajime & Luca

... Three more? Was that even doable for Yuna?

She'd already been through what was obviously the worst torment ever. Was she past the point of holding on? Or ... ??

Before he could think too long on that, Hotsuma's words made his face flush slightly. That was officially the second person who told him to get his appearance much more presentable.

... Understood. Yes, sir. I ... will go get a shower in now.

Before he left, though, he turned ad gave all of the Disciples an appreciative smile.

I'm sorry, Yuna. I know three more probably wouldn't be what you'd wanna hear. But we'll make them count. So just hang on a bit more, please.

Quickly pivoting on his feet, he left to follow through with his promise; one he'd keep on a much more frequent basis, too.

Luca, meanwhile, had gone back to her more usual routines. Keeping up with Lua, doing chores, helping keep the house in order. Same stuff, new day. The absence of Yusei was unfortunate ... but she knew it had been for the best.

"I mean .... it is a possibility, yes. But it seems like only so many people can earn a spot, you know? And with how many people are in both Satellite and the Tops ... well, that isn't very good odds."

A small smile couldn't help but spread over her face. Annoying as the immense amount of energy could be, even Luca couldn't deny that there were some times she wished to have that type of stamina.

" .... Huh? I don't think that's mom and dad."

In fact, she was almost positive of it. They wouldn't need to ring the doorbell, after all. They had keys to the house. Luca would finally step out a few moments later after finishing brushing and tying her hair up. "W-What?! That can't be! I never went to the tournaments or anything!"

And yet, that was exactly what was inside; an invitation to the Fortune Cup!

Luca wasn't sure how to react. Part of her wanted to faint, another almost wanted to throw it away, and then there was a third that was actually kind of excited about this. Scared, most definitely, but .. she'd just mentioned seconds ago how hard it'd be to get in.

Still ....

"I ... I don't know. I feel ... like I'm somehow cheating. I really didn't do anything to earn this."

Lua

"Cheating? Nah, they just know you're perfect or something!" Lua tried to cheer her up; even if it wasn't sadness, he was going to do his best to be there for her. Ever since she fell into that coma at the age of three, he always did his best - despite his spastic behavior - to be there for her. To be her protector, his body as her shield. There was nothing he wouldn't do for her.

Even so...He did find it weird that she had been invited; not because he was jealous (well, not in large part, anyway) but it was also because both of them were at school when these tournaments were hosted. Or if not school, then after-school activities or being with friends. The closest they'd gotten to actually being there was watching some of the matches on television after they finished their homework.

"Regardless, Luca! You did something to earn this; maybe Heitmann put your name forward? You have some of the highest grades in his class, you know!" he then said; he knew the strict teacher would never put his name forward for something like this. Despite his own Deck being alright...The guy's teaching was insanely strict. Good thing his sister was so smart.

Luca's face quickly flushed as her brother praised her, "I ... don't know about perfect. But, thanks. Hmmm ... "

There were still quite a few problems with this invitation, aside from the fact it felt random in how she got it.

"I ... I'll think about it. It feels a bit creepy - unless, as you said, Heitmann did indeed put my name in. I'd just ... I'd feel better knowing that was the case. Otherwise, how'd they find out where I live? That's where it becomes questionable. And .... even if that all could be ignored ... there's another concern. Me. You know I'm not good with these things. They ... well .... " Her head turned away as she sighed softly. " ... I get drained. Just from my physical condition, I doubt I'd get very far."

... Stil, this was the Fortune Cup! And there was no guarantee something like this would come up again.

"I .... I'll think about this, okay? But right now, I'm very hesitant about agreeing to this."

Setting the invitation down on a nearby mantle, Luca went off to her room to go weigh her options and determine the best course of action for herself.

Exhausted. Dead without being in said physical state ... just like Hajime noticed. That was the best way to describe Yuna both mentally and physically.

Thankfully, Misty did at least one thing decent enough, and that was give her a bit more of the essentials. Showers, in particular, were greatly appreciated, even if it was done out of necessity more than mercy. Of course, there were some stipulations. Her wrists would always remain bound. But what was actually the most annoying came in the fact Yuna remained clothed during the showers. No doubt Kiryu's idea to make her suffer further .... and it steadily worked. With her being kept in a relatively cold place, getting warm took hours, more often than not.

The past ... how long had it been now? Another week?

Goddamn.

Anyway, that had been even worse than the first one, even with the privileges she got. Kiryu had opted to be more brutal, teasing - or actually using - her own switchblade against her. It was certainly a blessing she'd chose a gun with so few bullets left, otherwise she had little doubts that would have been used.

Yuna groaned as her now hazel eyes weakly opened, only to close again. During one of the showers, Misty had realized her red orbs were actually contacts and helped remove them. Because of not being able to get any dye put back in her hair - plus Rose being sealed - her red had changed back to black. The guise of Akane was all but gone, with a select few crimson locks remaining in the form of streaks.

Solitude ... she was mostly used to that sensation. It didn't overly bother her. Not usually, anyway. Simultaneously, she'd gotten used to a schedule of sorts.

And Yuna was pretty sure about one thing; Kiryu was late for their 'session'.

Had he given up? The thought made her smirk and heart sink at the same time. Should that truly be the case ... then he likely was acting on his words and getting the 'other person' he hinted at to finish her off. If she knew for sure everyone at Yomi was safe, she'd feel better with the concept of dying. She could leave with no regrets. Alas, with no way to contact the others ... it was an unknown factor. Sure, Yuna wanted to believe they were fine, but ---

Why do you care? They don't, as far as you know.

The worst part? She couldn't blame them. She herself didn't relay anything to them, even while she'd been fine. Why should they care now? Surely, Hajime and the others had more to worry about than her. Like keeping the fort held.

Her teeth latched onto her lip as her fists clenched, quickly letting go after a few seconds. In place of the typical suspect known as hemp, Kiryu had upgraded to twine. There had been some days Yuna had gotten too close to escaping, even in her weakened state. So he did the smart thing and switched what material was keeping her restrained.

Just let it all end; the questioning, the torment, the 'time outs', everything ...

The time outs for damn sure. No doubts about those. Kiryu had gotten bold and - likely stolen - an actual coffin. At least 'new' instead of 'used', but it didn't make her punishments or attempt to break down and confess any easier. In fact, it was infinite times worse than the crate. Her body shook at the most recent time he'd forced her to endure said box, whimpering softly as her head lifted again.

... She must be going crazy. Yuna swore she heard footsteps. But every time she looked up ... nothing. No one was there.

Another groan resounded from the former leader as she rolled onto side, slowly beginning to push herself to a sitting up position.

It had been three days once more since Yamichi had taken Takeshi's unintended hint and turned it into a working device; having procured several trackers and uploaded his modification, he had gathered the others with him.

"So, here's the deal. I've gotten the sensors recalibrated for the new range...But sadly, I wasn't able to fine-tune it as much as I would like. These trackers will give you the boundary area; they're also voice communicators, so if any of you happen to run across Yuna, you can radio to the others and let them know." It was here that Takeshi asked, "So...How much will we have to search?" Yamichi turned back to the screen, motioning to the yellow circle in the upper-right corner of the map, "I was able to narrow it down to about a radius of seven square blocks...It's a lot of area, but the good thing is this area of the Tops is mostly rural. The downside?" He then pulled up an overlay, showing the relatively large numbers of marks, "is that it seems we aren't the only ones who frequent the Tops. Some seem to be living over there, which is adding to the noise for the scanners to filter through."

Hotsuma spoke up next, "So....What then? Will we find her more easily if we get closer?" Yamichi nodded, "Yeah, and after Hajime and I talked yesterday about those visions more, I was able to get a good idea of where you should start looking." He then hit a few more keys, three red circles appearing within the larger yellow one. "These are all areas that have large numbers of abandoned or foreclosed structures. Those are areas where they'll likely be keeping her: Isolated and easy to access."

Takeshi looked at the scanner, "Just one more thing...How will we know when he find Yuna?" Yamichi shook his head, "Unfortunately, like I said, there's a lot of noise for the scanner to filter through at that range. So you'll have to verify each one you come across." Hotsuma nodded, "Well...Guess that means we should strap up then. I don't want to take any chances, so grab a pistol and keep it hidden. Last thing we need is to have Sector sniffing around on a search-and-rescue."

Yamichi then looked at Hotsuma, then Takeshi, then Hajime, "Just...Please be careful. All of you; I don't know who's holding Yuna but if they can do that to her...I don't want to even imagine what else they're capable of."

Rutger, meanwhile, had followed Misty and Kiryu to their newest 'friend'; what was Kiryu thinking, he wondered. He appreciated the enthusiasm, but this could seriously jeopardize their plans. "Almost there, boss-man...She's been a stubborn bitch to crack, and I was seriously considering offing her. But...She was so much fun to play with, especially when she was bad and had to be put in time-out, haha." Kiryu chuckled, Rutger asking, "Did either of you learn anything useful from her?"

Kiryu just replied, "Just that she does know Fayth...And a group of people who she refuses to disclose the identities of. Oh, and she's claustrophobic. Probably related to the Fiend, but whatever...You can ask her yourself once we get there."

Rutger was silent as he was led through an underground storage complex, a door opening up in front of Yuna and letting her see three people now enter before. The newest one dressed in robes with red accents. "So...This is the piece of trash you found." he sneered; even so, he couldn't help smiling, "Seems you were quite thorough, Kiryu. I'm impressed." The silver-haired male just laughed, "Well, I wanted to see what kinds of things I could do to Yusei...And I got a chance to spend some quality time with the lovely Ms. Lola, so I call that a win-win. Plus, got to show her a few things for when we do find that Milner girl; she'll sing like a canary by the time we're done."

Rutger then knelt down in front of Yuna, "Yuna Takeda, was it? I hear you've been giving my associates problems." At this, he forcefully grabbed her hair and pulled hard, forcing her head to stay up even straighter. "Let's clear the air; Misty and Kiryu here have told me everything they know. I know about your contract, I know about your abilities...I know that Kiryu has neutralized you and you are no longer able to resist. So I want to listen very well, girl. I'm not exactly a patient man, and I've had nearly two decades to perfect a very specialized and lethal list of talents." Letting go, he then sat back a little straighter himself, speaking to her again "Now then...I sincerely suggest you divulge whatever it is you've been trying to keep secret. Or I will be forced to use more extreme measures to rip the answers from you."

The briefing was ... not as exact as Hajime would have preferred. At least the area she could be in was narrowed down, which was a huge blessing. Particularly since she appeared to be somewhere in the Tops. Still, the selfish side of him had preferred having a much more definite answer on where to go. Even the precise address.

.. Ah well. This would have to do.

Strap up? You mean ... ??

... That thought definitely made him a bit nervous. Yuna had always been around, so there was never a need for him to use a firearm. But ... well, there was a first time for everything. Besides, this was to help get Yuna back. Just as he admitted earlier to Hotsuma, his own Psychic powers weren't that good. Much as he disliked the thought of having to bring a gun - and maybe even use it - he could make an exception. Scratch that, he had to.

Nodding after hearing all he needed to, Hajime got up and went with the others into the storage area. He stared at all of the pistols and, after quickly thinking, only grabbed one. That should be all he'd need, anyway.

Please tell me you've been able to hang on well enough. I'm sorry about the wait, but we're finally coming over ...

First activating the safety, lest he accidentally shoot himself while he and the others made their way to the Tops, Hajime would tuck it into his right rear pocket afterwards, concealing it by draping his tank top over the firearm. His head lifted as he looked up to Hotsuma. So ... we taking the boat? Wheelers? How exactly are we getting to the Tops?

"Not thorough enough, given the bare minimum he found," Yuna quipped back. Any chance to wound Kiryu's ego was good. It was an extra incentive to remain stubborn on giving any of her comrade's names out; seeing him frustrated with her - even at her expense - was very rewarding. "So ... you the extra person he hinted maybe bringing way back when?"

A pained cry and growl passed Yuna's lips as her hair was yanked, and she was forced to shakily stand.

"You know .. you could use the shoulders. Somewhere else aside from the hair. Assholes."

A hiss joined in with her previous sounds as Yuna was unceremoniously dropped, landing back on her rear.

" ... Well, allow me to repeat the same things I've already told Kiryu then. All my encounters with these so-called Signers were purely coincidental. I had no clue they even were Signers till names got listed. How you fuckers know that is beyond me. And last - but sure as shit not least - I'm not selling my comrades out. If you're still going to be stupid and ask for that .... just kill me. You'll have a much easier time doing that than making me give names out."

Yuna shook, wincing a she jerked the scab off her lower lip away. Her mouth closed ... before she tilted her head up and spat, getting some drops of blood on Rutger's robes.

"Don't like my answer? Tough shit. I'm not giving you what you want. I don't really care what you have up your sleeves; it's not making me change my mind. Don't believe me? Then ask him. There's a reason he hasn't gathered more answers even with using my own worst fear against me."

"Boat...We can latch two Wheelers onto the side rails with those clamps; that's how we'll get Yuna out of whatever fucked up prison she's in and back home. And Hajime...I know you're like Yuna in that you're not overly fond of bearing firearms...But I want us to be well-protected. Last thing we need to lose more people." Hotsuma would reply, taking a pistol from himself as well two extra magazines of ammunition and storing them in the pockets of the long navy blue jacket he was wearing. Thankfully, Yamichi was kind enough to spare some cash to get new clothes - mostly just a pair of boots, a new shirt and jacket, and some black cargo pants - since for whatever reason the hospital ditched and probably had his sent to be burned. Better than going over there in the assless robe he'd worn on his ride back from the Tops, even if it was warmer.

He was hoping not to get into a firefight...But if push came to shove, he wasn't above letting the lead fly. Especially since all he was asking for was just to get her back right now. That was it. "Kami-sama...Just please, let her not be beyond saving." he pleaded quietly, bowing his head in silent prayer.

"Takeshi, you good?" Hotsuma asked, the brunette nodding "All good, man...And don't worry, we're gonna find her. Get her fixed up, then we can get back to business as usual." And with night having fallen, it would take some doing to traverse the waters in their boat. But...This would work, and with Yamichi doing a weather check, the waters shouldn't be too choppy this night.

"Alright...Mount up, guys. Let's go get the Boss back." Hotsuma said, leading the way with his make-shift troupe...And when they would get on the Runners, they would rev up and make their way to the pier.

Rutger casually looked her over as she needlessly cursed at him; what a brat. No wonder Kiryu had fun torturing her; ah well, he wasn't about to cry for her. "Coincidental? I think not; nothing in this world is coincidence. If you met the Signers, then it was because Fate wanted you to. And whoever your friends are that you're trying to protect, I'm sure they despise you for killing one of their own. Such pointless bravado; it is people like you that will only accelerate this world's demise."

At this Rutger just shrugged, "But...I suppose you are right. I should kill you. You are nothing but a blight on this world, a needless existence." At this, he held out an arm, a tiny spider crawling out on his arm. "But then...You would like that, wouldn't you? I can feel it in you: You wish for death. Pray for it."

Rutger just chuckled, "So...I know a much more fitting punishment. You wish to be silent, then very well. Kiryu, restrain her if you would." At this Kiryu laughed, wrenching Yuna's arm hard into a hammerlock and grabbing her hair, yanking her head back to expose her neck. "Sorry not sorry, hahahaha. What you gonna do, Boss-man? What's with the eight-legged freak? Ooooh, I hope our friend here's not arachnophobic, hehehe." the young man laughed, Rutger continuing, "Whether she is or not, I have a different purpose in mind. Just as the Giant silenced your spirit, brat...the Spider will rob you of your own voice."

Keeping his arm outstretched, the spider would form a thread of webbing, eerily descending and landing on Yuna's body; even if it was weightless, she would feel its presence. Even as it crawled to the front of her throat, right over her voicebox. "Now then, Yuna Takeda...Be silent forever." Rutger commanded, the smaller arachnid driving its fangs into her throat, the venom working to quickly paralyze her vocal chords.

And with its task completed, Rutger knelt down and let the tiny spiderling crawl back onto his arm, its form melting away as his mark would regain its lost limb. "Kiryu...You may release her. We are done here." Rutger commanded, Kiryu harshly throwing her to the side. "So...Now what?" Kiryu asked, the apparent leader then saying "Now we take our leave. Leave her to death, if that is what fate has decided for her. Our hands are washed of her."

And with that...The Dark Signer group would indeed leave her be...Once again lost and alone in this unknown prison.

Actually, from what I last heard, she's become much more content with using guns than not, Hajime mused to himself. Now wasn't the time for jests, and it was the main reason he kept those thoughts to himself. Instead, he nodded, acknowledging and understanding where Hosuma had gone with his logic.

... Much as he appreciated the optimism from Takeshi, was it really going to be that easy? To just find and take her back?

Not that Hajime wanted it to be complicated. But from what he and Hotsuma both saw ... it'd be a miracle if it was that easy.

Quickly shaking his head, he hurried out of the base when Hotsuma and Takeshi were done. The blue-haired male practically jumped onto his wheeler and rode off with the others, going for the boat.

"Nor would I blame them. Really. Shut up and fuck off. Your guilt trip's not going to work on me."

Yuna scoffed as she heard the words 'should kill' instead of 'will kill'. "Tch. Can't do it? Pathetic."

And her prayers got all the more stronger as it became clear what Rutger had in mind. She was definitely not arachnophobic. However, with Rose sealed away, telepathy was out of the question. Only other Psychics would have a slight chance of being able to communicate with her. And if Rose's sealing was permanent ... she'd be in worse shape than Hajime. These were the things that made her fight against Kiryu. From trying to slam him into the wall behind them, stepping on his feet, even a weakened headbutt ... anything to get his grip loose.

"FUCKING COWARDS! LET FUCKING GO! STOP! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

As quickly as the scream was heard, it abruptly stopped. Yuna lifted her head, glaring furiously at the two men as she fought tears from coming into view.

Not like this ... how ... how do I ... ??

Her heart was pounding quickly - likely from the venom now coursing through her system. She could feel blood falling down her wrists and head. One of the old wounds on her temple had been re-opened no thanks to Kiryu's rough shove. The twine had dug in a bit too deep with the hammerlock being executed, and was now drawing some blood.

So .... she was going to bleed to death? Was that how this was going to go?

Maybe it was for the best. At this rate, it'd be better than being found in such a shameful state.

Only after the two men left did Yuna allow the tears she'd held back to fall down her face. Rutger had been right ... some part of her did want to just give up and die. Her humane side, however, was wanting to keep fighting. To not yet give up. This was a bullshit way to die!

Who the fuck are you waiting for though? It's been two fucking weeks .... and no one ...

Her fists clenched, not caring it resulted in more blood leaving the new wounds.

Hajime ... Hotsuma - assuming you pulled through - someone?! CAN ANYONE FUCKING HEAR ME?! Please help me ...

It'd hurt .... oh fuck yes it would. But if she really wanted to try to live... then step one would be necessary to work on, even if it'd also be painful as fuck. Her teeth grabbed back onto her lower lip as she began twisting her wrists, trying to pull them out from beneath the twine bindings.

Kiryu just grinned as the thought of her never being able to speak again ran through his mind. Well, she asked for it, he thought "Shouldn't be so rude, Yuna..." he whispered to himself; now that they'd left, he pulled out his little treasures. The gun and switchblade she tried to kill him with, and the cash she'd won from her last fight. Not that money really mattered to him in the first place...But he felt like seeing how much she made.

Plus...They were nice little trophies. Something for him to reminisce with as they would vanish...Back into the shadows of existence, waiting for the time to strike again.

Once the trio arrived at the pier, the two Runners they'd taken would be latched onto the side rails before they would disembark. Takeshi took the wheel of the boat, Hotsuma reporting back to Yamichi that they were leaving for Satellite now. With it being night-time, they found the Sector presence highly minimalized. Something none would likely complain about, and with the areas they were going to.

And once they arrived, they would disembark and get the two Runners off the boat with relative ease. "So...How do we split this up?" Takeshi asked, Hotsuma replying, "I'll take the furthest part to the west; you guys don't have marks, so they won't be able to track you. And if I do get caught, I can at least buy you some time to find Yuna. Takeshi, I'll need you to drop off Hajime at the third area closest to the east edge of the search radius, and then you can go from there and examine the zone in the middle. Remember, you find her, you let the rest of us know. And Hajime, if either Takeshi or myself find her, we'll swing back to pick you up, alright?"

Takeshi wasn't overly fond of them having to split up solo; but then again, this was the Tops. Even the isolated parts couldn't be that bad...But then again, that was why Hotsuma had them packing heat. Just in case things went south.

"Alright...See you guys on the other side." Hotsuma would say in a slightly joking voice; this wasn't a suicide mission per se, but it still carried a heavy amount of risk. Especially if whoever was holding Yuna captive was still in the vicinity of where they were holding her. And once Hotsuma took off on a Runner that he didn't get involved in a robbery for, Takeshi just said as he put his helmet on, "Well then, let's go, Hajime."

The lack of Sector officers was certainly something Hajime wouldn't dare complain about. He didn't really have intentions on earning a mark for any rhyme or reason, least of all something as stupid as technically breaking curfew. Nope, no thanks. He had more important stuff to deal with right now.

Hajime sighed softly, reluctantly nodding. It was obvious Takeshi wasn't the only person not-so-fond of Hotsuma putting himself at risk.

We literally just got you back. Don't get lost or too reckless, okay?

Still, he was like Yuna in that regard. When the male leader had points, it was hard to argue with him. With himself and Takeshi not being marked, not only could they not be traced, but they wouldn't be in nearly as much trouble should they be found.

Yep, he agreed, grabbing his own helmet and placing it over his head before sitting behind Takeshi. Well, let's do this, then. His arms rose, opting to hold onto the shoulders. Less awkward than if he went around the waist ... even if that probably had the better grip to keep from falling off.

Fuck, fuck, FUCK! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Each failed attempt was making more and more blood pour from her wrists. Had she cut any major arteries or veins? Yuna had no idea, and it'd be a literal miracle if she somehow avoided any areas that could lead to anything major.

Worse off, the venom was still coursing through her system. With that continuing to work on her, it made her struggles steadily begin to weaken. Fatigue was getting stronger and stronger .... or was this near death? Another thing Yuna wasn't sure of.

Tired ... she whimpered, rapidly shaking her head and forcing her eyes to open. Much to the annoyance of her body, which seemed to wish she'd just given up and gotten rest .... permanent or otherwise. With her being uncertain on what was trying to tempt her, though, she had to keep moving, thinking, fighting.

... Fine. So maybe a change in plans was needed?

It may not immediately help her get out of this room, but it'd be a start. And honestly, any freedom would be welcome. So, rather than tampering with the bonds on her wrists, Yuna shifted her attention to her lower body, trying to get her ankles free.

FUCK! OHHHH! WHEN I SEE YOU NEXT KIRYU, I WILL KILL YOU!

Oh shit, this hurt. Like a motherfucker, too. But at least her ankles hadn't been cut ... and she was being more cautious this time around. No point in ruining her own Achilles Heel and further incapacitating herself, after all. She already had enough disasters as it was. Yuna wasn't going to willingly nor intentionally add more to her body if she could help it.

Takeshi dropped off Hajime without much incident; it was an abandoned storage complex with at least four levels and different sections to check. 'Foreclosed' signs lined the perimeter, signs pointing to both underground, upper floor and ground-level storage block areas. And once Hajime was left alone, it was a shorter drive for Takeshi to the next zone.

He arrived at what seemed to be a very run-down apartment complex; granted it wasn't nearly as bad as buildings like this in the Satellite, but still...This was surprising even for Takeshi to see. It wasn't likely Yuna was here, given the fact that he could see lights in the windows and hear voices behind doors, but...At the same time, there was a weird phenomenon when it came to people in general. Sometimes shit just happened and people thought someone else would handle it. "Man, even with the fact that this is the Tops...It's still fucking creepy going around different abandoned areas." Takeshi whispered to himself, but kept his eyes on his tracker. It wasn't much to go off of, but for now at least, they could focus on.

Hotsuma, meanwhile, got stuck poking around at first near a canning facility; this was just on the edge of where he was supposed to look, and was still active from the looks of it. No way she'd be held here, he thought, continuing on his Runner past it before arriving at what appeared a drive-in movie theater. Seemed dusty enough where someone could hide a person after hours...Because it didn't seem like it was closed. "Must be nice, being able to just sit out under the stars and watch movies...Meanwhile people are dying left and right in the Satellite. Pricks." he venomously spat, getting off his Runner and starting to look around for Yuna.

But with that, all three members were now able to search for their lost comrade...All having the hope that they weren't too late.

After a few hours of searching though, no one had reported in on seeing Yuna, Hotsuma decided to risk a radio check after going to what appeared to be a second storage warehouse. His tracker showed movement, but "Oi...." he whispered at first, trying to keep it simple, "Anything?" A few moments of silence passed before Takeshi's voice rang through, "Nothing...Over by what appears to be an old comic book shop. Luckily, door was open...But I'm coming out now; the basement was a bust."

Hsjime inwardly groaned. Really? Four different locations? Well, shit. This would be a pain to check.

... Well, may as well get started now as opposed to later.

Since he was already at the top, he started with the uppermost floor. His left hand kept the helmet tucked under his arm, while his right was mentally prepared to grab his pistol should it be needed.

URGH! GODDAMNIT!

More tears of frustration streamed down Yuna's face. Who knew getting dressed in this outfit would come back to haunt her so badly? She'd just been getting ready for work two weeks ago. She hadn't assumed getting clad in something that exposed so much flesh would become dangerous this fast.

But it was. The more she pulled, the closer she felt the twine threatening to break the skin of her lower body.

Nothing ... I can't do anything. FUCK! FUCK, FUCK, FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Her head fell against the wall as she panted and breathed heavily. Not like this .... I don't wanna die like this. This isn't fair .... Maybe this was her cue? To finally closer her eyes and tempt fate?

She only did so for about ten minutes ... at least that was how long it felt to her. It could have been longer, maybe shorter. Either way, the sounds of footfalls quickly approaching the door made her shakily look over. HELLO?! HOLY FUCK, PLEASE GET ME OUT OF HERE!

In order to make damn sure he didn't miss anything, Hajiime refused to move to the next room until he was damn sure each level was clear. By the time he headed to the last one, his heart was sinking, only plummeting lower when the others relayed they had yet to find Yuna. Yamichi hadn't made a mistake, had he? The thought made him grimace, then sigh as he mentally replied.

I'm at the ground level of the place you dropped me off, Takeshi. The other floors were clear, but ---

His hands trembled. From ouside, he could feel it. A faint but familiar aura. YUNA?! YUNA!! IT'S ME!

In case she couldn't hear or send telepathic messages, Hajime opted to pound on the door. A startled whimper that matched Yuna's tone was the result, finally making hope replace the despair that had been swimming through Hajime.

HERE! SHE'S HERE! ON THE GROUND FLOOR! I can sense her. She's really weak ... but she's alive! Oh my god ... can't get this fucking door open though! It's locked ... and steel. YUNA! WE'RE HERE, HOLD ON! Goddamnit, she's not verbally answering me. Takeshi! Give Hotsuma directions, please. I'm gonna keep working on this fucking thing.

Yuna shook, instinctively backing herself up as best as she could. Even if that wasn't Kiryu ... it could be someone as bad. And right now, in her state, the next worst thought immediately went to Sector. It wasn't impossible for him to have gone and reported her location. With her status still being very highly wanted ... this would be the best time for them to find her, and thus the worst time for Yuna to be caught by the corrupt bastards.

This was taking too long...But still, they needed to find her and fast. Unfortunately, both Hotsuma and Takeshi were feeling the frustrations of not working with an exact address; hopefully at least, this would be the only time they'd have to conduct a rescue operation like this. Hopefully.

Hotsuma was about to give another status check when he heard Hajime's voice in his head, telling them he'd found Yuna. "Takeshi, you heard that right?" Hotsuma whispered into his radio, hopping back on his Runner. "Yeah! Go south for about two blocks, then it should be a straight shot east to the EZ-Rent; you'll notice it, trust me. Place looks dilapidated as all hell." Hotsuma wasted little time in speeding off, elsewhere Takeshi was doing the same.

And it would only take a matter of minutes for the other two to arrive, finding Hajime working the door to no avail. "We're here, man! She through here?" he asked; however, when Hotsuma got close, he would confirm himself. "It's her...Move aside, both of you. I'll knock this shit down."

However, when he tried to transform...A massive shock of pain ran through him, rendering the transformation undoable and himself quickly reverting, the Disciples' boss falling to his knees and panting heavily. "Whelp...You were near comatose for the better part of this month. Your body hasn't healed properly; using my power now could very well destroy you."

"Hotsuma! You alright!?" Takeshi asked, trying to help his boss up; Hotsuma shook his head, "I'm fine...Haven't used this in a while, and...Damn it, the halls are too narrow to let us use our Runners to ram it down. Just...Give me a minute..." And when he tried to transform again, that same shock of pain ran through him, gritting his teeth as he fought to overcome it, his appearance shifting between himself, the Emperor and some weird mish-mash of them both. But...Part of it was a deep-seated doubt in wanting to save Yuna.

She'd left him for dead, essentially; there was no guarantee the doctors would have been able to save his life...Or that someone wouldn't have 'accidentally' killed him while they were operating. He was completely at the mercy of the Tops' medical professionals.

"No...Yomi needs a leader...Even if it's not for myself...For them!"

And with a strangled pained cry, he finally was able to change. Standing once again was the Emperor, the crowned helmet scraping against the ceiling as he moved forward. That horrible dark surge rolling off of him and all over the hallway, creating quite an oppressive aura for any who were Psychically sensitive...And likely giving Yuna a very good idea of who had found her. Taking the gigantic sword from his back, he then rammed it through the steel slab before punching an armored fist through the hole and nearly knocking the door clear off its rollers. However...He wasn't able to keep it for very long, himself reverting back rather quickly to be hunched to his knees.

"Hajime, Takeshi...Go...Go cut her loose....Just give me a second, yeah?" he breathed, holding out a concealed switchblade, sweat beading on his brow as aftershocks of agony ran through him. Takeshi took the knife and ran over to Yuna, starting to cut the binds around her wrist and ankles loose. Before long, her body now able to more freely move.

Hajime had tried everything, from trying o make the door budge by shouldering it to even seeing if there was a way to pick the lock. Nothing. Thankfully, he wouldn't need to wait long for the others to arrive.

I ... I'm pretty sure. She still hasn't answered ...

He didn't need to be told twice to move. He took several steps back, giving Hotsuma plenty of room so he could change. Except .. he didn't right away? Hajime rose an eyebrow, but didn't pry on the matter. His explanation made enough sense; yeah, fair enough. It likely had been a while since he'd used those abilities. It wouldn't be easy to just use them immediately, even less so considering he recently got out of the hospital.

Oh shit! Yuna thought, her eyes widening in horror as Hotsuma's aura was detected. Oh god, he's gonna kill me, isn't he?!

... Not that it wouldn't be deserved, nor poetic justice. But she'd prefer to avoid that, if at all possible. Her heart pounded faster against her chest, another whimper eliciting as she felt her back land against the wall. She'd moved as far as she could. All she could do was shut her eyes and pray.

Yuna?! Yuna?!

The first thing that caught Hajime's eyes, however, wasn't his boss. It was everything else that looked very out of place. The first item being a baseball bat, with a few crimson tinges coating the uppermost part. Beside that was a hammer, also bloodied slightly. A burlap sack ... a half-empty jug of water?

What in the fuck? Why is something like that here? Hajiime pondered, his eyes starting to move back to Yuna .... only to be distracted by one last thing. A coffin.

Everything else made at least a bit of sense.

But that? The casket was definitely the odd item here.

While Hajime started to saunter towards it, Takeshi would finish cutting Yuna free. Her eyes narrowed as she glared furiously at her right-hand man.

GET AWAY FROM THAT!

Hajime blinked, stopping in his tracks before raising his hands beside his head. Okay, okay. Sorry, just ... why is that ... ??

Yuna whimpered, hiding her head atop her knees as she held herself.

.... Shit. these visions had been even worse than he thought. And a closer-up view would help Takeshi and Hajime see how bad Yuna truly was. From her bloodied wrists to her temple slightly busted open, and a huge bruise adorning her midsection.

Jesus. Yuna .... who did this?

Her head moved from side to side quickly. I ... I don't know exactly who they were. But Kiryu ... he was with them. Said something about dying and coming back to life. All of them have done that, apparently.

A weak smile crossed Hajime's lips as he began helping Yuna up, being careful of her open wounds. You can speak normally, if you want. Probably easier ...

No .... no I can't. Her head would lift, allowing the two to see the puncture wounds on her neck. The last person that came here ... it's hard to explain what he did. He made a spider emerge from some weird ass tattoo he had; sorta like the criminal mark but different. I think, anyway. It bit me .... and ..... I can't. It's ... it ruined my vocal cords.

Yuna, I .... fuck. Okay. It's fine. We're gonna get you back, and ---

Not yet, Yuna pleaded. I .... I have a place nearby. It's got some gauze and first aid shit. My deck and disk, also, along with clothes and money. I've had this outfit on for way too long. I can guide you all .... Finally, her attention went to Hotsuma as she looked shakily at him. ... You .... you're really helping them? Even after what Rose made me do? I mean ... I'm glad to see my efforts to get you to the hospital worked ... but if you're here to help finish what I started .... just make it fast. Please.

Yuna?! What are you saying?!

I wanna hear it from him! she quickly replied, slowly placing an arm over one of Takeshi and Hajime's shoulders.

This place did look like something out of a B-grade slasher move: It was dark, depressing and showed all the signs this was a torture chamber. Tools stained with the victim's blood, the victim herself tied up like a hog, bloodied and battered from her torturer's abuse, clothes stained crimson and her expression that of extreme hopelessness.

But that wasn't what got him...It was the fear he felt from her. And for a few moments...He actually seemed to enjoy it. He could tell she was scared, probably thinking that he had come to finish their battle. To strike her down while she couldn't defend herself. And looking around, he saw how easy it could be; not including the gun in his pocket, he could either beat her head in, or lock her in the coffin and let her slowly starve herself out.

"Hotsuma? What's Yuna talking about? Is this about what happened in Arcadia?" he then asked; was their split-up really that bad? It had to have been, and it worried him that Hotsuma had yet to reply. "Oi...Hotsuma...Look, I know things are bad, but we came here to get her home, right?" the brunette asked, Hotsuma then replying, "Yeah...Yeah, we did...And that's what we're going to do...Come on, let's get back to the boat."

Takeshi paused, "But...What about Yuna's stuff? She asked to stop by her place and get them...Her deck and disk are still there." Hotsuma cocked his head, crossing his arms "The hell you talking about, she didn't say a damn word." It would be here that Takeshi and Hajime would both realize that her voice wasn't the only thing that was stolen from her. "Oi, Yuna, what's going on? Why can't Hotsuma hear you?" Takeshi then asked, looking back to Hajime and Hotsuma, then asking again, "Hotsuma, can you really not hear her? I know they stole her voice...But why can't she reach out to you telepathically?"

At this the boss shook his head and came forward, placing a hand on Yuna's shoulder, "Yuna...What the hell did they do to you?" He would also try to reach out to Rose...But he all he got was static. That same static that he'd heard when Yuna had tried to reach out to him earlier. Somehow, something was blocking her from reaching out.

Why? Why was Hotsuma so silent? Hajime put himself just a bit in front of Yuna .... enough that if things got dire enough, Yuna at least wouldn't be the very first person harmed by Hotsuma. He seemed to relax enough ... but couldn't help but still feel a bit concerned. Not enough to act on said feelings, but certainly ample to tuck the metal preparations of protecting Yuna away in the back of his mind.

See? Hear that? It's fine, Yuna, but .... yeah, Hotsuma. Takeshi's right. We need to make a detour first.

... But when Hotsuma relayed he hadn't heard anything, that made Hajime turn and look back to Yuna.

What do you mean he can't hear?! That has to be a lie! Explain how you two can do that despite Rose being sealed!

.... Sealed? How?

Before Yuna started to answer, she glanced up. Her eyes nervously looked at the hand Hotsuma had put on her shoulder. Well .... the grip wasn't rough, which helped reassure her he truly was going to help her. Yuna shuddered slightly, taking a moment to close her eyes and calm herself down before replying.

By Kiryu. He's got some insanely strong card. He was how I got in this mess to begin with. He recognized my mark. I'd never hid it because ... most people in the Tops thought it's a normal tattoo. And I sure didn't expect to run into him. I lured him into an alley but .... he's got powers like me and Hotsuma. Unlike us, though, he doesn't need ot change physical forms. He can use them freely .... and ....

Hajime grimaced, looking back and forth between Hotsuma and the others. He'd wait a few moments before asking the Disciple leader. So ... did you really not hear her explanation? About some guy named Kiryu sealing Rose away?

When Hotsuma didn't immediately answer, Yuna lost it. So ... not only was she sealed and mute, but even Hotsuma couldn't hear her. NOOOOOOOOOOO! She shakily tried to back away, panting rapidly as Hajime helped catch her.

Stop! Yuna, breathe! It's fine, it's just us. Jesus. They ... really did a number, didn't they?

His head turned to glance back at the coffin .... and his blood froze when he remembered one specific vision he shared with Hotsuma.

"Not again! YOU CAN'T JUST DO THAT, NO MATTER FOR HOW LONG! IT'S FUCKED UP! GET YOUR HANDS OFF ME! DAMNIT, ---!"

So then ..... oh god.

Hajime quickly averted his gaze, trembling along with Yuna. We'll figure this all out. Step one ... breathe. Calm down. After that ... let's get you out of here, okay? Back to your place ... then to Yomi. Alright? If this was done by some freak's spider, surely it can be reversed. For every venom, there's an anti-venom.

But .... but Rose! You're only hearing my surface thoughts! You may be using telepathy fine with me, but I'm not! I can't while she's gone! I .... Yuna shook, her legs caving in as Hajime knelt down beside her. She pulled her right-hand man close, buried her head in his shoulder, and began sobbing.

... Have you heard anything yet, Hotsuma? Anything she's said, anyway? Hajime double checked, allowing Yuna to borrow his shoulder and cry upon it.

Kiryu did this? After busting his ass out of the Facility? 'That motherfucker' Hotsuma whispered, barely audible; wasn't it bad enough that his poor decision-making led to his brother's death? Why'd he even come after her anyway?

Regardless, if he ever did see Kiryu again...Card or no, he was going to break that shithead in half. He could understand beating her in a Duel; at that point, he'd have told to just suck it up. But this? This was going too far, especially since she helped get him out too. "I did hear that...But I didn't hear what she said before. It seems like whatever they did only extends to telepathy at range." he explained, Takeshi nodding as he too knelt beside Yuna when she sank to her knees.

"See, Yuna? It's not that he can't hear you at all; he just can't hear you without having to touch your shoulder or something." Takeshi added on, hoping to try and quell her momentary hysteria a little. Being able to not speak with her mind or mouth? That had to be rough.

When Hajime asked him again, Hotsuma crossed his arms, still remaining standing "Like I said...I can't hear anything as she is now. Whatever Kiryu did to Yuna only seems to mute her if we're not in direct contact." And he was sure Yuna was bawling her eyes out internally. But...Somehow he wasn't confident there would be an anti-venom to counteract this; this didn't sound like some ordinary spider. But then...Maybe Yamichi would know something more.

"In any event..." Hotsuma then said, kneeling down next to Yuna and placing a hand on her shoulder again, "We should get going, Yuna...People in Yomi are waiting for you. And not for the reasons you might think; they want you back. Rose might be gone for now...But you're still Yuna. So act like it; you want to prove Kiryu wrong by crying because you can't hear her? Stand the fuck up, and show him you never broke."

"Hotsuma's right...On both counts. You're still here...And people in Yomi miss you. Yamichi, Shivini and Eikichi especially will want to see that you're alright; besides, you don't want to make us liars, do ya? We said we'd bring you back; would look awful shitty if we returned empty-handed." Takeshi then chimed in, hopefully trying to use some humor to make her feel better.

What had started as Yuna seconds away from hyperventilating finally changed. The rapid breaths slowed, going back to a more normal pace. Her eyes closed upon Hajime's top as she continued taking the steadier breaths, listening to the others around her. Both internally and literally, she was crying. At least, however, she was doing less of the former, with her tears finally beginning to slow down and cease altogether. A ghost of a smirk crossed her lips as she heard Hotsuma curse Kiryu.

Good. It was a gradual way of finding things they had in common despite having a rather rough - and recent - past with one another.

It wouldn't be until Hotsuma reassured her people were waiting that finally, her head lifted. Even without thinking the reply, it was pretty simple to detect on her face and within her eyes.

Why?

Hajime rolled his own as he looked right into Yuna's hazel orbs, You kept our names safe, didn't you?

How ...?? I mean, you're right. Have your powers increased or something?

Heh, I wish, Hajime replied, grinning sheepishly, It's ... not complicated, but it'd take too long to explain. So tell you what. Let's do an exchange. I distinctly recall you were gonna elaborate on your own powers; you never got to that. I'll reveal how I knew that much when we return. So let's get your stuff and go home, okay? I doubt you want to stay here, after all.

Yuna weakly scoffed, taking another deep breath before standing up ... now only shaking from near starvation more than anything. But at least the hysteria and anxiety were otherwise gone. You're right. Thanks, guys. Okay. My place .... I'll know where to go once we get out. I can give directions then, so .... I'm assuming you brought Wheelers? Who am I going with? Be easier to relay this to whoever's gonna drive than all of you. This is giving me a slight headache, though that's probably hunger kicking in more than over-thinking.

And at that question, Hajime turned ad looked curiously to Hotsuma. If the original partners were to stay the same as before, then the answer would be Yuna would go with him. Which didn't seem to be the worst, given she'd stopped freaking out and fearing for her life.

But ... this could honestly be something any of them could do.

She wants to know who to give directions to, and thus who to ride with, Hajime relayed, helping Yuna stay standing by guiding one of her arms over a shoulder yet again.

Finally, Hotsuma thought privately. They'd both been through enough shit recently; he just wanted to get back and put things right. But...He also had a feeling that no one was going to like what he had to say either. And seeing her like this, made him want to put it off.

No...It was better that he went out with it. Besides, it wouldn't be that bad.

When Hajime would then ask who to have her ride with, he was rather quick to reply with, "Have her ride with you; Takeshi and I are going to be a bit farther back in case a night patrol comes snooping. Yuna...One thing you should know. Kiryu wasn't the only one who found you by your criminal mark." He then tapped the underside of his eyes where her mark was, adding "Sector didn't just give us these as fashion statements; they're trackers. That's how Yamichi was able to find you and lead us here; they give off some sort of signal. Better that we split up and stay a bit apart."

Of course...That wasn't just the only reason, but he didn't need to convey that right now. Takeshi just stood up, helping Yuna stand up and remaining nearby just in case she wouldn't be able to hold herself upright, "Alright, Hajime...Let's make this quick, okay?"

And with that out of the way, Hajime and Yuna would be off on one Runner, Hotsuma taking control of the other and keeping a good distance between the two. When Hajime and Yuna would stop at her place, Takeshi took this opportunity to ask, "So...Hotsuma, are you and Yuna...Well, are you going to be alright with this? I mean...With everything that happened..." Hotsuma just replied, "Even if I wasn't, I made a promise to her a really long time ago. Yomi doesn't need to suffer because of our history; especially now that we stole their prize jewel, they're going to try and find anything they can use to drive us out. So...I'm going to have to be okay with it. But...To answer your question? Yes."

Yuna's eyes widened when Hotsuma revealed the secret behind their criminal marks.

Christ, for real?! Crafty pricks, to make them more complicated than they look ...

.... And now, for the first time in nearly two weeks, her mind went to Fayth. She'd have to find her .... somehow. Likely with a bit of help from Yamichi or anyone who wouldn't mind assisting. Either way, if what Hotsuma relayed was true, then she was in even more danger than Yuna had realized.

Hajime nodded in agreement, slowly moving past both Hotsuma and Takeshi. With the state Yuna was in, he doubted the two Disciples would mind if he went on ahead to make this trip all the more faster.

The trip to there and back wouldn't long at all; four minutes, give or take. It was gathering things that took a bit longer ... and much to Hajime's slight annoyance, Yuna was very adamant he didn't assist with putting the clothes away. Understandable, yes. But ... ugh. It made the packing take a bit longer. Still, she otherwise kept true to her word. Aside from her clothes, she packed the rest of the guns she'd left with, hidden funds she'd won, and all the spare bullets away into a dufflebag.

Hajime would return seven minutes later, with Yuna changed into a new outfit.

The dufflebag had been put in the trunk of the wheeler ... although, admittedly, with a small amount of difficulty.

Alright, we're ready, Hajime dictated, helping Yuna down to the lower deck and into an empty room. Let's go home.

Hotsuma and Takeshi waited down the street; only when they were finished did they then take the lead. Showing them the way back to the boat, and after making sure Yuna was secure enough to transport and the Runners were locked back in on the side rails. "Hopefully...This will just be a one time thing" Takeshi muttered, Hotsuma nodding, "Yeah...But I think everything we have is squared away for now. So, like Hajime said...Let's go home. Fuck this place."

And with that, they were on their way back to the Satellite. Overall, the trip had only taken a couple of hours; thankfully, when they landed they didn't seem to run into any Sector patrols that were patrolling this side of the island. "Good...This thing's almost out of gas anyway; we'll need to get some more." Hotsuma said, noting the near empty fuel gauge. He just hoped that the ride back to Yomi wouldn't be troublesome; they'd had enough at this point to go well beyond twenty lifetimes.

"Kami-sama...Just please, no more...I'm so fucking tired of this shit..." Hotsuma pleaded mentally; and when the Runners were off-loaded, the four tired troops made their way back to the Facility. And thankfully, at least for now, the wish of no trouble was answered: The Runners parked, Hotsuma and Takeshi grabbing her things, "Hajime...Do me a favor and see if Mei can give Yuna a look-over. Don't need those wounds getting infected. And don't worry, Yuna...Takeshi and I will just put this stuff in your room and leave it be. Then, if it's alright with you, Imma grab some shuteye and I suggest you guys do the same."

Once that was dealt out, Hotsuma and Takeshi would stop by the Warden's office, placing her bag and other gear on her bed. "Oi, Hotsuma...So, we did it right? Now what?" Takeshi asked, Hotsuma rolling a stiff shoulder, "Now? We sleep, my friend. And get back at it tomorrow. And besides...You have a tournament coming up right? Gonna need you to be in fighting form." At this Takeshi laughed, "Sure man...Well, Imma go check in with Yamichi. Let him know everything went good, and that Yuna's back safe." Hotsuma nodded, watching as his soon-to-be-former underling would take his leave "Of course...I'd have rather wanted to get this done tonight, but with all the shit that's happened it wouldn't be a good time. One more night won't hurt." he would then say to himself, making a way to his own room. The door to the Warden's office closing behind him.

Down below, Yuna and Hajime would be mostly silent. Not simply because they were both mute, but that certainly added into the equation. Yuna was still - understandably - bitter about having her voice removed, along with Rose sealed. One or the other .... she could have dealt with that much easier. But this? It really had made her freak out as much as she had for a damn good reason.

We'll figure something out, Hajime promised, getting a bit bold and rubbing her shoulder reassuringly.

The gesture definitely didn't go unnoticed as Yuna raised a eyebrow and smirked teasingly at him. I mean ... it's true I've probably really fucked everything up with Hotsuma. But just in case? May wanna be careful. He's likely the one steering this boat. Otherwise ... it'd look real bad if he were the overly jealous type and assumed the worst.

.... At the same time, with Rose sealed away... would it really be the worst to cave into temptation?

... Not now. Maybe later, and that was a huge one. Not so much because of whom was trying to tease her, but more due because of things she knew she would have to do. No one would like it ... in fact, may as well get that mentioned now as opposed to later.

Well, while we're able to share this link, I'm gonna need your help. The others probably are gonna have their own stuff to do, particularly around the time of the Fortune Cup. You were correct in deducing it was your names Kiryu wanted. But it wasn't only yours. I still don't know the whole story about people designated as so-called 'Signers'. But long story short, I know of one particular one who needs to be warned. She's already had a rough history with Kiryu. I don't want her to repeat it so easily if it can be helped.

Hajime sighed, crossing his empty arm over his chest. The gesture alone signaled he already didn't like this plan. Yuna, you're going to need some serious medical treatment. I'd rather go myself in your stead.

I appreciate the concern. But I lived in the Tops for a week straight. No offense, but I know it a bit better than you.

Hajime groaned. Well ... this was definitely Yuna, and not a doppelganger. At least that worry was out the window. ... If you're really doing this, then please use a shit ton of precautions. You're sill wanted and everything.

Yuna smirked, deciding to return the gesture back. An eye for an eye ... but in this case bold move for another one. The overhead of Yomi rose a hand ... anad rather than slapping Hajime like part of him had half-expected, ran her fingers through his hair. You insult me, she mockingly jested, I wasn't beaten that senseless. I was gonna, okay? In fact, that's partly why I want you to accompany me; to help me blend in better. I'll stand out by myself.

.... Well, when she worded it that way, it was really difficult to argue with her. His head nodded as he proverbially wove his white flag. Okay .... alright. But you need some treatment before then. I'm not budging on that. Fuck. You look like you lost more weight than one should.

I probably did, Yuna admitted, Fuckers gave me next to nothing.

When the boat finally stopped, Yuna would be supported once again with a hand draped over his shoulder. Yuna would shake her head no, indicating she was fine with her stuff being put away.

I'm gonna ge her to thet infirmary first and foremost, Hajime stated in a matter-of-fact internal tone, I'll say with her to make sure she behaves.

Aww. You haven't forgotten I'm a shitty patient. Cute. Yuna internally giggled, offering one last wave to both Takeshi and Hotsuma before walking with her right-hand man to Mei's office.

So .... I'm only partly sorry, Mei, Hajime greeted, helping lay Yuna down, But you've got a huge job. I wouldn't mind you waiting, but ... this can't. Come in and you'll see what I mean.

Mei had already been standing by; having been briefed by Yamichi, she was expecting the young woman to look like hell. But this even surpassed her expectations, evidenced by such as she started immediately working on Yuna, getting the equipment sterilized and starting to poke and prod her. "I'm sorry if you don't like needles, but I need to start running a course of antibiotics. Who knows if you've got an infection of some kind, especially with those open wounds around your wrists and ankles." the good doctor said. Even though she wasn't looking at Hajime, she would then ask, "Was she like this when you found her?"

She was hesitant to use any powerful painkillers, but a topical anesthetic would be fine to use, the cooling gel spread on her wounds before she started. It was the open lacerations though, that had her the most worried, and thus she would close the smaller ones with adhesive bandages and start to stitch the larger ones closed.

"You're doing good, Yuna...Just stay still alright? Let me know if you need anything for pain; I'll see what I can do." she then said, carefully monitoring her for the few hours she would need to fully assess her stability. "Well...Thankfully, they got you out when they did...Hajime, can you help with the cold compresses? On for ten minutes, off for twenty. I'm going to go see if we can't get some food for her. It won't be much, likely just some broth...Gotta keep it light for now if they've starved her this long."

Taking her leave, she would leave Hajime and Yuna to themselves, and to let the leader rest up.

Three days later, it was an absolute madhouse over the in the Tops; the Dueling Stadium was packed to overcrowding with spectators, and more still would crowd around any available screens to watch what was happening. This tournament was going to be huge; they hadn't had a large tournament gathering like this in a while, and the number of selection tournaments that they had beforehand seemed to indicate the enormity of the tournament itself. Goodwin must have been feeling generous, especially with all the negative press about the Facility situation and the situation with the Fiend's escape from the hospital.

And with how big this tournament was indeed, banners flew everywhere. Valet services were provided for Runners to be used in the tournament; while not all the Duels would be Turbo Duels, everyone was encouraged to bring their vehicle in case their Duel was set to be one. They would be stored in a safe and secure location onsite to prevent tampering, officers posted to the sole entrance defended. This tournament sometimes brought out the worst in people, and who knew how many people would try something underhand to gain an advantage. But...With this, at least this angle would be covered. And with more guards posted near the main control center, they would ensure the randomizer wouldn't be tampered with.

As it stood, there would be sixteen contestants. All of whom would be standing in front of the elevated arena itself; Yusei looked around and saw that there was indeed a racing track here. He wondered if there would be a Turbo Duel this round, and if he might even get the chance to go first. And given that he just helped Fayth and Fuyu tune up a Runner himself, he was admittedly excited to get the chance to do a Riding Duel without the worry of being arrested. "Yusei?!" he then heard, snapping out of his little trance and looking down to see a familiar face. "...Lua?" he asked, catching an elbow in the thigh as he whispered in reply, "No...Well, yes, but look! Luca got invited but she didn't want to participate! So I took her place...But don't tell anyone alright?" He was wondering why the young man had his hair in twintails...But so long as he was doing it for his sister, then he saw no harm. Besides, the two looked so similar that only if anyone had met them would they be able to tell the difference.

Yamichi and Takeshi on the other hand, were in shock at the concept of even being here; there were so many people! Even more so than when they last competed. "Well dude...This is it. We're fucking here! I can't believe it!" Takeshi declared, seeming to burst with energy; this place was incredible. Yamichi just nodded, a happy smile on his face "Yeah...And this time, it feels right. Especially now that we've got everyone back..." Takeshi would then give the tech a half-arm hug, "See? Kami-sama always delivers! And hey..." he then pointed further down the line, "Your girlfriend's here too! Maybe you'll get to fight her again!"

Before their banter could continue, however, another figure appeared in the center of the arena...the very boisterous but fittingly-so Master of Ceremonies himself. Dressed in that same magenta suit and that giant pompadour haircut seeming to shine in the overhead sun as he placed the microphone next to "WELCOME ALL YOU BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE TO ! IT'S A GLORIOUS DAY IN THE TOPS, IT'S A GLORIOUS DAY FOR THE CONTESTANTS TO SHOW US WHAT THEY'RE MADE OF! WE'VE GOT SIXTEEN POWERFUL DUELISTS RARING TO GO! IT'S A CLIMB TO THE TOP! LET'S GIVE THEM A HAND, AUDIENCE!"

And at this, the audience erupted in applause; the noise was deafening, but it was welcome. This truly seemed like a good day to do this; Yomi was settled and squared away. Hotsuma and Yuna were back in their leadership positions, and while they probably weren't going to be lovers anymore...The relationship seemed amicable, at least. So the Yomi members that made it could Duel without worry. Takeshi just laughed, "Man, this guy definitely loves his job...Wonder how much he gets paid to do this. I bet he makes a killing."

"AND NOW, A BREAKDOWN OF HOW THE TOURNAMENT WILL WORK!" The screens would then light up and show the brackets themselves, the boxes currently empty. "IT'S A SINGLE-ELIMINATION BRACKET TOURNAMENT! EACH WINNER WILL ADVANCE TO THE NEXT STAGE! WE START WITH THE SIXTEEN HERE, THEN WE GO TO EIGHT, THEN FOUR UNTIL ONLY TWO REMAIN!" To highlight this, each round would light up as he listed the number of Duelists that would advance after each round.

"AND THE WINNER OF THE FINAL MATCH GETS THE GRAND PRIZE OF TWO MILLION YEN AND BEST OF ALL....A CHANCE TO FIGHT AGAINST THE CURRENT KING OF GAMES, NONE OTHER THAN JACK ATLAS HIMSELF!"

And as if it to capitalize on this experience, Jack too would arise from the same podium elevator that MC had come up on, the Solid Vision system showing his Red Demon's Dragon floating down to land right behind him. "THAT'S RIGHT, FOLKS! THIS TOURNAMENT IS ALL ABOUT TO SEE IF ANYONE HAS WHAT IT TAKES TO BECOME KING OF GAMES!" Jack then walked forward and held out his hand, MC stating "Oh? It looks like the King wishes to say a few words himself! Let's hear it, ladies and gentlemen!"

And when he was given the microphone, Jack would speak, "You all have shown remarkable skill! But remember that you're fighting to not just win for yourselves, you're fighting to win against me! To win and show the rest how the strong will rise to the top! So in this tournament, bring everything you have! Use everything you have at your disposal! Show no mercy! SO SAYS THE KING!" And though it was brief and succinct, it definitely struck a chord with the spectators, the cheering and applause louder than before as a series of fireworks would explode overhead and his Dragon roaring, signaling the start of the Fortune Cup.

Handing the mic back to MC and making his way off-stage, Red Demon's Dragon disappearing, the announcer would continue, "ALRIGHT, LET'S GET THESE DUELS ROLLING, FOLKS! WHO WILL GO FIRST!?"

And with the screens, they would see the names being generated, spinning around and around as the brackets were generated for the first round. Eventually, the list came up, each name separated by a 'VS' in the middle to indicate their opponent.

Yusei Fudo vs. Luca
Yamichi Hizamura vs. Gill Randsford
Kazama Soichi vs. Shira
Celeste Belrose vs. The Professor
Akiza Izayoi vs. Bommer
Judai Yuki vs. Takeshi Yamaguchi
Ling vs. Un
Shimoda Naizen vs. Kodo Kinomiya

Takeshi was busy reading down the list of names...And when he saw his name and who he was going against, he was actually excited. "Hell yeah! Judai, you and I get our rematch after all! I'm going all out, man!" Takeshi declared excitedly.

"ALRIGHT FOLKS! AND THERE YOU HAVE IT! AND THE FIRST MATCHUP IS YUSEI FUDO VS. LUCA! LET'S HAVE THEM COME UP!" However, before Yusei could go up, he felt a tap on his shoulder. "Jack..." he said, their expressions stern as they looked at each other. But Jack then reached into his pocket and pulled out a familiar card...One that Yusei had thought long lost. "Figured you'd want this back. Just promise one thing: You'll fight your hardest. I look forward to going against you." Yusei took the card, his Stardust Dragon, somewhat in disbelief but about to say thank you when Jack held up a hand, "You want to thank me, win and get high enough to where you're the one facing me in the title match."
