Yu-gi-oh 5Ds: Rise of Darkness and Corruption (Athene/ImaginaryMuse & Razgriz)

Jack's eyes didn't seem to falter as she mention Kiryu passing on; in all honesty, the man was surprised it hadn't happened sooner. Still, he did feel even worse because he had landed an innocent woman in the company of a homicidal madman. True, he didn't know how deep his depravity ran. But he was getting a better idea the more that Fayth revealed, a hand scratching at the back of his head as she described the literal death-trap she had been put in.

"Well, I suppose that makes me even more thankful Yusei managed to help you escape. I had no idea he would go so low as to use a human shield like that...Or that he would go after his own demise so willingly." he would then reply once she had finished with her detailed revelation; seems his instincts were right about Kiryu. The man was a danger to anyone he came across. But now he kind of wished they weren't; despite all that Kiryu had done, Jack knew Yusei would still have tried to save him. To bring him back to when he was actually half-decent. And in truth...Hearing his name again did make him kind of miss the Enforcer days. Even with all the glamour, wealth and power he could want...It was harder, sure, but it was also simpler in some ways.

But...With Kiryu gone, hopefully the Satellite would become less turbulent. Then again, with the leaders having been either dead or imprisoned during Sector's ransacking of the run-down island, that had created an enormous power vacuum. Such was the same when they tried to bring the Duel Gangs under a common banner...Even if they succeeded by and large, there were still rogue elements trying to prove they were beyond the Enforcer's reach.

He didn't comment on the fact that Yusei had somehow called out to the Crimson Dragon; that would explain the night he was riding around. He had called to it to save both her friend and his former ally. "Hmph....Shouldn't be surprised, really. The guy can work a miracle, that's for sure..." he remarked, somewhat bitterly at that; it was amazing that Yusei had gotten over here, let alone managed to find him so quickly.

"I think most with sense would feel you were justified in that respect. You hadn't done anything wrong, even if my inaction gave 'evidence' to the contrary." he would then mutter, taking a sip of his water; he intentionally emphasized the 'evidence' remark to help show her that he knew her imprisonment was now complete bull. When she then opened the floor to his questions...He was recalling the things Fuyu had said earlier. Something that he didn't put much merit in, but had it brought back to the forefront of his mind. He hadn't intended to ask anything at first...But this was making him curious. Especially since the first time he had seen here, she had what was obviously an upgraded form of his Red Dragon.

"Actually there is something. When Fuyu and this "Reiji" first contacted me, she had said that I couldn't be here too. That it would screw them over in the long run. Fayth...If you're truly from this other dimension, am I there as well?" he then asked, clarifying "I ask not just because Fuyu made that comment...But when I first saw you, you had another Red Dragon Archfiend card. And before it disappeared, I did feel a connection to it...Not strong like I do mine, but I did feel something pulling me toward it."

"He really has been my savior. I'm starting to wonder more and more if i's not as much of a coincidence as I originally thought ... "

And once again, there it was. Reiji's theory echoing in her head ... but now combining with a guess of her own. Did Signers have the odd ability to sense others? From day one, literally anyone could have found her in the Satellite. That had been proven with the three thugs locating her.

And yet, even after they arrived, Yusei had come to help out.

Fayth hadn't thought anything of it. Now that she had so much more information than before, though, it really was feeling like this was all somehow planned out. Or at least arranged?

Only time would reveal that, she supposed.

"Yeah. Yusei didn't expect it either, even though he made it painfully clear with his actions and words. But I suppose .. I can't blame him for not waning to believe it, either."

When Jack revealed Fuyu had gone so far as to add Reiji into the talk, she had to cover her mouth to muffle a chuckle.

"Oh goodness," she replied, shaking her head from side to side before sighing. "Yeah ... that would be over-protective side kicking in. I'm so sorry, really I am. I didn't think she'd get Reiji involved but ... that was dumb on my behalf. I should have figured she'd do that, honestly. Anyway ... to answer your question, yes. You are."

Her teeth latched onto her lower lip for a few sceonds before adding, "Crow is also there. We have some other individuals from other dimensions who simultaneously reside in the Pendulum. I ... actually spoke with Reiji recently on why I may be a Signer, since I don't fit the pattern of being from this world. And ... he did come up with a guess."

Fayth's heart began to pound roughly against her chest.

"He thinks ... there's a version of myself here. But, since the Sign is on me ... then if there was a Synchro version of me ... it's dead. The worst part, though, is it makes perfect sense."

Fayth shuddered, moving her head from side to side, "I haven't even tried to see if that's true ... nor know if I want to try to find that out. But yes. The Pendulum version of you actually gave me Tyrant Red Dragon Archfiend to help with my mission. So that bond you were hinting? That's probably a small part of why and how you felt it."

With that all being said, hopefully step one had been successful this time around. Now, she had to see if Jack would take her more seriously this time or not. Depending on his reactions would determine how the rest of this visit went, and Fayth was silently hoping it'd all go in a much, much smoother direction than before.

"That's an understatement; she was understandably upset after I told her Sector had arrested you. Thankfully, Reiji seemed able to talk her down." he quipped; and true it was. She was livid, and while he would have defended himself if he had to, he certainly preferred to avoid physical confrontation if it could be helped.

But her next revelation was even more stupefying. Now that was a surprise; Crow was in this other Dimension as well? How did that even work? That certainly brought up a whole other list of questions...None of which he was confident he would understand, or if it was even relevant.

And it quickly turned out to be irrelevant as she revealed that there was a possibility her Sign had come over to her as...well, as a mistake. Or perhaps if what she was saying was true...Maybe it was a sign within itself?

"Fayth...I don't think it was just that, though. From what I know about the Crimson Dragon, it chooses its 'warriors' - for lack of a better term - quite well. It might not mean much coming from me, but if you did the get the Sign...Then I don't think it was an accident. Even if the other you is dead...But, I know almost nothing aside from what I've been told. With all I've seen, I wouldn't be surprised if it reached out across dimensions."

Letting that go for now, he then said, "Now...I know I've been told this, what, twice now? But...For the sake of making sure I understand completely, tell me once more. Why did you come over to this Dimension? Surely it wasn't just to let me know that I existed in some other plane or something, right?"

Yeah, that's Reiji alright, Fayth thought, nodding as she took another sip of her latte. She leaned back after setting it down and listened to Jack.

Silence. That was what continued to hover over them for what felt like an eternity. But that was fine. Fayth would be a bit more astounded if Jack reacted as if he understood this completely. These topics were far from simple, be it in theory or any other way.

"From what you know, huh? It's interesting ... this Crimson Dragon is such a big deal. But there seem to be very few people who know much, if anything, about it. Me and Yusei only learned from an ex-inmate who also seemed to have information." A weak smile crossed her face as she lightly rubbed her right shoulder. "I still question sometimes if I was really an okay choice or not. But ... well, I guess it doesn't matter. Whatever may or may not come from wearing this mark ... "

Fayth paused, making sure to choose her next words carefully.

"I suppose I'm going to have to be ready for whatever might happen as a result of being chosen as a Signer. I've gotten few hints on what to expect. Some 'evil', apparently. From what I've observed, though, that could be quite a bit. There seems to be tons of corruption in this dimension. It's hard to find anything, or even anyone, even somewhat decent."

As Jack asked for confirmation, her head quickly shook.

"No. It's definitely not that simple. This was another thing Reiji recently gathered enough evidence and relayed to me and Fuyu. There's a group of people known as the Academia. Their leader, Leo Akaba, is working to try to align all of the dimensions. Should he get his way, Reiji's confident a simultaneous attack could happen against all of the other dimensions. You think things are tough and chaotic here? It'll only get worse if that really does happen."

A slightly trembling hand pointed tot her blindfold.

"You probably assumed this wasn't a natural ... condition. You'd be correct. My sight ... was stolen. Literally had my eyes ripped out by one of the higher-ranked members of Academia. If they can sink to that sort of tactic ... they'll go even lower with conquering this and the other dimensions. And - let's assume for a bit that there was another me. There's a very real possibility .... that both you and Crow may die. Probably in just one dimension; but the fact is that option is a very grim, but real, one."

Fayth wrapped several blonde strands around her right index finger and began lightly twirling them. "I realize that, for now, we all are stuck with playing the waiting game. However, if you have other people besides Yusei and Crow you could warn about this, I'd do so. Even being a few steps ahead is better than being caught off-guard."

Allowing her hair to fall back down, she took yet another sip ... and added in an extra bit of advice. One that was even more cautiously worded, simply because of whom it involved mentioning.

"I'm not certain why you're with Goodwin, nor am I going to pry. However, given how he spoke with me and a few others while I was still in the Facility ... there is literally nothing good that can come from being near him. I'd cut ties ... or at least be very vigilant about what you say or do around him. You being here, talking to me like this, even making the right call and disqualifying Mr. E -- these all prove you can be a good person. But Goodwin .. he's going to use and manipulate you if you let him. It takes a lot for me to sincerely hold a grudge against anyone. So ... even though Kiryu told me your secret about where you're really from ... "

Her head shook in a negative direction.

"I can't - don't even - want to exploit that. It's not in my nature. Besides, doing that would make me sink to Kiryu's level. I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if I did that. At least ... think on what I'm telling you. Like you've been doing with everything else. That seem fair enough, Jack?"

"That makes two of us" Jack mentally added; he didn't feel like replying aloud that the same doubts she voiced plagued his mind too. If only because of the fact that he was, for the first time in a very long while, finally the gravity of his mistakes head-on. And to be perfectly honest with himself?

It sucked. Not enough for him to quit or anything, but...He definitely would need to re-evaluate where he stood. If this was what it meant to be a King...No, he would still be King, but at the very least he would try to rebuild old bridges. Much like he was doing here; he could make the gesture, and see how it planned out. A hand unconsciously went to the pocket holding his Extra Deck monsters, and it was here that he made a decision.

He would find Yusei, and give him back Stardust.

Though his attention returned to Fayth as she went on to describe what was going on; even as far-fetched as it sounded, he still managed to listen. But she would feel a wave of disgust roll over him as she described her sight being forcibly taken. He didn't care at the time why she wore a blindfold, or that she was even blind; to him it was just another Duelist that was hounding his attention and being a nuisance.

And she would feel his aura heighten as she then went on to reveal that Kiryu had spilled to her his secret, the very one that Goodwin tried so hard to keep hidden away. "Jack...If you want to be King, you mustn't let them know where you hail from. I brought you over here because you are better than that city; being a King here is what you were destined for." he would then hear Goodwin's voice say in his mind, recalling the first days of his assistant bringing him from poverty and unfulfilled dreams to a world of glamour and power.

"While I won't exactly say what our bond is...It was because of Goodwin that I became who I am today. Call it what you will, but if it weren't for him, I doubt I would have made it as far as I have." he then replied, still more than a little upset that Kiryu had gone this far to spite him. His feud with Yusei would be the death of him, at least from a social standpoint.

"While I appreciate you offering to not reveal where I'm from, it still doesn't change the fact that you know. I can't believe Kiryu did this..." Jack mumbled angrily; a large part of him felt an urge to let Goodwin know that he was compromised, to find guidance. But...Then Fayth would get in trouble, and he could somehow tell that she was being serious about not using it. He then let out a sigh, "But...I suppose someone was bound to find out eventually. Better to have someone that doesn't want to use it than one who does."

Standing up, he then said, "I'll think about it, Fayth...But understand that I do need time to process this. In any event, I should be leaving...The Fortune Cup is right around the corner, and I imagine both of us need to get ready." As he would walk, he would then stop and say, "And Fayth? Thanks. I know you had every right to flip your lid on me, but I appreciate you not doing so. Well, be seeing you." And with that, he would take his leave...Leaving her friend and the blind duelist to themselves once more.

... Oh shit ...

Fayth had hoped revealing what Kiryu told would be her own sign of good faith. Just like everything Jack had been doing thus far. But now, she was suddenly questioning if she'd just made one of the worst mistakes in her life. She scooted back ever-so-slightly ... keeping herself out of arm's reach. Nonetheless, the move would still be noticed by Jack.

"I ... I didn't ask for that! He just ... told me. Very out of the blue. It was part of his act to get me to trust him ... and I hate to admit it, but it kinda worked. I was still annoyed with you so ... I did at least remember it. But I swear, I'm not gonna reveal that." While the panic didn't completely fade away, Fayth did calm down enough, another thing that would be seen and heard as she slowly added, "Although ... I won't lie. I don't get why you're keeping it such a huge secret. Is it that big a deal?"

Apparently it was, strengthened by Jack outright refusing to explain fully why he was associated with Goodwin at all. But ... he didn't simply throw her words away. Which implied he had to be considering them, if absolutely nothing else.

Finally, he even gave verbal confirmation, which made Fayth sigh and visibly relax. "Thank you. hat's all I'm asking ... just think about it. Y-Yeah ... it is, huh? If I get to fight you ... no holding back. I'm holding you to that." A teasing smirk was on her face. Before Jack left, he gave one last set of words ... ones that made her grin widen. "Well ... thanks for listening this time. It means as much to me as it does to you."

As the door slowly shut, she leaned back ... feeling quite satisfied and pleased with herself. Shit, ha'd gone so much better than Fayth would have ever assumed. Grabbing her own duel disk, she quickly relayed to Reji he finally heeded the warning and hung up.

There was far too much going wrong. So, so, so very wrong. To say Rex Goodwin was unhappy would be the biggest understatement of his life thus far. The past five days had been spent fuming. Much as he tried to forget about Miss Takeda's call thanking him for the Facility, he couldn't. He'd even sent a few men to scout. Confirm, albeit from a distance, that she hadn't been bluffing. And when they relayed it was true - with humans and demons alike keeping the fort very secured ... oh what a fit he'd had.

And now, as if he didn't have enough annoying things to worry about, Divine himself had arranged a meeting.

What for?

Hell if he knew ... but he supposed he was going to find out.

He was waiting, trying to be patient. The drumming of his fingers, however, hinted his typical virtue was beginning to dwindle slightly. His head turned as he glanced over, expecing Mikage to walk in with Divine soon enough.

Meanwhile, Yomi - as well as the Disciples - were legit freaking out about their leader's whereabouts. With no one having heard from either Yuna or Hotsuma, it almost seemed like perhaps Yamichi's worst fears were coming to life. But for all they knew, it was possibly worse than what Yamichi originally feared. Had they both killed one another off somehow?

Hajime refused to believe it, as did Eikichi. Yamichi had relayed to the purple-haired lieutenant - whom, in turn, told his ototo - about Yuna seeming possessed. If that really was the case, then it hadn't even been her true self. Body, maybe. But as far as they were concerned, this was more of Arcadia's fault than Yuna's. It wasn't like she'd asked for these weird powers ... right?

Shivini ... was torn. She didn't want to think Yuna would be that violent, nor reckless as to get killed so easily. But ... when one of the last things she saw was her own boss shooting a Sector office without any second guesses .. well ... even she couldn't discard the possibility was a real one.

She was pacing alongside Takeshi and Eikichi, helping them keep watch over the Facility. Though he wasn't happy with taking over Yuna's spot, Hajme agreed to ... if only to ensure Yuna could return and reclaim her spot safely. But it was otherwise clear he didn't want this to be a very long-term position. Not if it could be helped. And in some regards, even Shivini understood. She was too used to Yuna. Not to say she thought Hajime would be a horrible boss ... but it was feeling a bit empty - most certainly weird - without Yuna or Hotsuma around.

Divine knew all too well the pains Rex was going through; the poor man, he thought. Must be hard to have such a tight grip on everything so irreversibly loosened. And even with the loss of his own base, it was easy enough to fall back to a secondary location; it would be cramped for a while, at least until some of the new recruits 'fell out' from training and awakening.

Which would take considerably longer without Aki; still, it was best that he did what he did. In a way, he suspected one of them would free her; but when it was Hotsuma? He nearly keeled over laughing; the boy was a real odd one.

Regardless, he soon approached the receptionist's desk, and after a quick buzz to the Director, he would be let into the elevator that led up to Goodwin's office. A short ride later, he was patted down by Goodwin's guards and allowed to proceed in the company of the woman Mikage. Who promptly excused herself after Divine was granted entrance into the Director's private conference room....And with how large it was, it certainly would seem intimidating for most to have to be in here with who could be arguably the single most powerful man in all of Neo Domino City.

"Ah, Director...I want to thank you for letting this meeting happen between us. A long time coming I suppose; but given recent events I felt that us talking will help...Clear the air on certain matters. First off, my condolences on your losing the Facility. That will put a hamper on your operations, won't it?" he then asked, smiling coyly; unlike with Aki, he knew very well where he and the Director stood. And....He actually held something dear to the Director, something Goodwin knew all too well.

"Now then, Director...I come here with an olive branch, as you call it. It comes in form of my favorite currency: Information." he then added with a smug grin, his right index finger held up in a pointedly and equally smug manner before finishing with "But...I can sense you need to vent...So before I do, by all means: Let me have it."

To say it was tense around Yomi was selling it far shorter than it should have been. True, the base was even more secure in the near week that passed; with these demons around, it was all too easy to salvage the numerous junkyards around the Satellite for material to rebuild the walls and use the steel reclaimed from the numerous gates to add further defense against intrusion. And most of the heavier labor could be left to them as well, being many times stronger than the humans that they assisted and allowing the finer detailed work to be completed by them. Already, the Facility was surrounded in armored turrets, manned by crews of two to three along the perimeter; and with its back facing a sea-wall, it meant that there was only one point of entry.

Yamichi, in particular, was in the former Main Inmate Control room: From here, he had a bird's eye view of every room in the Facility. The computers here were incredible; the numerous storerooms could be reconfigured to keep a running track of everything they would need. From food and batteries to ammunition and cards, and it was here that he had spent the last few days; with a spare bunk room, he pretty much had the room to himself. Something he liked, as it gave him time to think about everything that happened...Which probably wasn't the best thing in the world.

"Hotsuma and Yuna aren't back yet...What the hell happened? Did Divine do something to make you do that to each other?"" the tech mused, going over some new files that he found. Not surprisingly, he found the ones on 'Sosuke' and Yuna; seems they never did find out Hotsuma's real identity. "Hotsuma...Yuna...God damn it, please come back."

Takeshi, meanwhile, was just about back from a scouting run with both Eikichi and Shivini; when they went in to report to Hajime that they hadn't found anything, they would see the Demon Commander approaching the bluenette. "Sir!" the gigantic demon announced in its harsh gravely voice after a crisp salute , adding "It would seem that Emperor Hotsuma is indeed well; his Lordship gave me a message not two minutes ago. He is currently hospitalized, but has survived the trauma inflicted by Yuna Takeda."

Takeshi paused, feeling his breath catch before he dropped what he was carrying and rushed forward, "Hotsuma's alright?! Where is he? Which hospital?!" The demon shook his head, "He has not clarified; only that he is currently on bedrest in...how do you say...the Tops?" Turning his attention back to Hajime, the demon commander then said, "I know our kind aren't exactly the most subtle, but if you would give me permission I can organize a small force to retrieve Hotsuma himself and have him be brought here safely." Of course, it was certainly irksome for the demon to have to take orders from a human...But one order that was conveyed from the Emperor was to assist the humans however they needed, as well as name Hajime the Overboss of Yomi.

Goodwin didn't need to be Psychic to know the door opening was - damn well better be, anyway - his secretary and assistant. Good; he immediately felt better upon seeing both Mikage and Divine. Less so the latter ... but he'd tolerate the other man. For now. If only for a few reasons; one, he was genuinely curious what the hoped to gain from this meeting. Two, this was all happening on Rex's terms. If he so desired, the meeting could be halted with a mere snap of his fingers. The moment he didn't want to bother with Divine, it could - and would - happen.

He'd wait for Divine to finish talking before giving his own answers.

"... Are you truly sorry? Or are you simply saying that to get on my better side?" Leaning forward with his head resting atop his hands, he stared sternly at Divine ... trying to get a read off him. Being a Psychic would certainly make it simpler. But Rex didn't need such abilities. Body language and the tone of a person's voice ... those were some of the few but vital things he only ever needed.

And right now?

He was either being completely earnest ... or hiding his true feelings really fucking well. Hopefully just A ... because he was not in the mood to be messed around with. Yuna - and likely Hotsuma, since they were partners - had already done enough of that with overtaking the Facility.

"Quite frankly," he began to state after weighing his options, "My rants won't really do anything. So, unless you've come with a proposition to help me regain all I've lost, there's no point in resorting to such things. So please, by all means, go on and elaborate on your 'olive branch'. I know this wasn't arranged just because you had the ability to do so. At least, I doubt it. No, you're a man of purpose, much like myself. So go on. Start revealing your true intentions for wanting to see me, especially when you've never made such an effort beforehand."

Hajime sighed, lightly kicking his feet against the floor. He was trying - god help him, he really was - to keep a strong front. But each day that Yuna didn't return, he feared he'd never leave the Warden's office. He didn't want to take over! Not over a freak accident that may or may not have happened! Maybe if she died naturally, fine. It'd be sad, sure. At last, though, ha would be much more tolerable than the mere possibility that she go possessed long enough to kill Hotsuma. And then .... what?

Ran away?

She wouldn't! he internally swore, clenching his fists at the thought. Yuna had always been such a huge advocate for loyalty. She wouldn't be a hypocrite, especially not like that. He was sure of it!

As footsteps approached, he found the Demon Commander, with Takeshi, Shivini, and Eikichi all close behind.

And Yuna?! Where is -- ??

Both Eikichi and Hajime looked visibly shocked when the commander admitted it had been Yuna who so direly wounded Hotsuma.

"God-fucking-damnit!" Eikichi hissed through gritted teeth. "Well ... fuck! She probably wasn't herself! She's not insane or anything!"

"We don't know that, Eikichi," Shivini hesitantly stated.

The purple-haired male turned, shooting the Amazoness a dangerous glare. "You're saying you would turn your back on her?!"

"No! Don't be stupid! But .. think back for a second. She never used to condone nor resort to using guns. Not lethally, anyway. And that was exactly what she did before we had to abandon Yomi; shot an officer. A point blank range. Killed him!"

"If it really was Sector, was she not doing it to protect you all?! Why are you trying to judge her?!"

"Eikich! The fact is ... she's changed. Not simply in revealing she was never Yukio in the first place. Something, whether it was here, Arcadia, or both ... has changed her. And ... well .... it may apply to her mental state, not just physical."

Eikichi scoffed, rolling his eyes. "You know what? Okay. I'll play along. Let's assume maybe she is a tad out of her mind. Isn't that all more the reason to find her? Get her help? She's dealing with every thing out there! ON HER OWN! And here we are just ... waiting?! No. That's stupid; I'm understanding that now. We need to send another group out ... one to help Hotsuma return, and one to find Yuna."

Not yet, Aniki.

Eikichi's mouth fell agape as he turned to his sibling. "Jesus H. Christ. Not you too!"

Don't you dare misunderstand me. You should know I'd be the last person to even start considering abandoning Yuna. However, rather than blindly looking for her ... leads would be more helpful first. Our presence here is already going to lead to complications. If people heard us randomly asking for her whereabouts? Should the wrong individuals hear such things, they'll try to beat us to finding her. She is wanted, after all. And if they were to succeed ...

Hajime grimaced, moving his head from side to side.

We'd be back to an even worse square one in terms of getting her back safely. We need to proceed with caution.

Eikichi slowly nodded, letting out a defeated sigh. " ... Fine. As long as we're just careful rather than not intending to try to find her at all. I can deal with that."

When Rex decided to get right to the point, Divine placed a hand to his chest as if in mock offense. "Why, Director, so brash! I would never mock you, not in a thousand years." Divine replied playfully, smirking as he saw Goodwin's eyebrows knit in concentration. No doubt trying to read his body language; even without Psychic abilities, the man was surprisingly perceptive.

Even so, he did know better than to get too much of Goodwin's bad side...And though it wouldn't help him reclaim everything, he could at least try to avert one problem. "Hmmm...I don't know if it could reclaim everything you've lost, my good man. But! It could very well give you some satisfaction knowing that a particular someone is still here in the Tops."

Sitting back in the chair he was provided, he then went on, "You see, I happen to know the Fiend has infiltrated our little haven of peace and tranquility. He even tried to attack some of my followers, the big brute. Thankfully...It would seem that something caused him and Yuna to fracture. I can tell you this, but you must promise to use it effectively and save us both a headache in doing so."

Grinning just a bit, Divine would say "Everyone's favorite bad man is currently in bed rest at Domino General Hospital. If you like, you can stop by...Maybe he can figure out where his little lovebird went. And before you ask, yes, I cannot track where she is." Giving a small shrug he then finished with, "Why? I do not know."

Takeshi just raised his hands, trying to get everyone to settle down, "Whoa, whoa guys, we're jumping to a whole lot of conclusions here; all we really know is that Yuna and Hotsuma have yet to come back. We can go find them, but like Hajime said...We need to be play it careful. We don't know where they are or what kind of shape they're in. Going out blindly isn't going to help anyone."

The Demon Commander's enormous tail thumped rather loudly on the ground, making most everyone jump from the sudden noise of it. "Hmph, you spend so much time squabbling and bickering amongst yourselves, why not fight it out? This prison has a pit built for it, yes? Come...COME! We will see who is right in a trial by might!" Takeshi shook his head, "Uh, dude....We're not going to have Eikichi and Shivini get into a slugfest over this; we just got our comrades out of a bad situation, let's not put them in another if we can help it." The demon commander scoffed, crossing his massive arms "Hmph, I can see it clear as day that these two do not agree. Best and easiest way to resolve disputes is to fight; that is how the Soldiers settle matters. No ill feelings, simple test of true superiority."

Takeshi groaned and shook his head; he didn't need this right, he really didn't. But...A welcome voice would step in, "Maybe it doesn't need to be a fistfight...And certainly not against each other. How about we Duel? Come on, a good fun game always put a smile on my face!" "That's because all you care about is finding a strong opponent...Heh, even with your entry into the Fortune Cup you still want to fight someone stronger. Will you never cease, Judai?" the brunette would hear his spirit Yubel say to him, Judai just grinning.

"Well, what do you guys say? I bet if we looked, we could see if there's another one of those tournaments we can enter! Fortune Cup's not far, and wouldn't it be really cool if we could get more of you guys in it? Can't let the Tops have all the fun, right?" Judai continued, Takeshi staring at the foreigner for a minute but then just snickering, "Well...I imagine we could all use a break. Hajime, you could use one too, right?" he then asked the bluenette, the demon commander laughing, "Hah, see? Your friend understands! I will hold the fort while you go off and resolve your dispute! May the mightiest win!"

As Divine had mentally noted, it was easy to assume he was standing mere inches away from probably the most powerful man in Neo Domino. There had to be other skills aside from any literal or metaphorical strength he may have. Manipulation and the ability to get decent enough reads were some other traits, both of which he'd used at his visit with Yuna, Fayth, and Hotsuma. His fingers began to rhythmically tap upon his desk, no doubt waiting for Divine to prove himself useful ... or give a reason to make him call for security and coerce the man into being escorted out.

Oh? There we go ....

It definitely wasn't much, no. Yet any step in the right direction was a good one.

However, when he admitted to not knowing Yuna's whereabouts, a low 'Hmph' was given in response. "That's an easy answer; one you should know probably better than me. She's stronger than we give her credit for. The last of her .... deeds before the Facility fell did not, of course, go unheard. Whereas most women dislike - maybe even fear - getting their hands dirty, she's very much an exception to this rule. It's not likely she was always partners with Hotsuma ... and given the hints she relayed to me, that's definitely true."

Thinking back on it, Goodwin never had figured out what she meant about always existing but never having known. And while that had supposedly been solved, the ability to confirm if she really had hidden herself away as a man would be highly preferred. Another very archaic and unorthodox method ... even less able to be properly executed and succeed in.

No matter. He'd find the bitch and make her confess, with or without Fayth as a helpful "incentive".

"At any rate, if this is true, I think I'll stop by and pay him a visit. Before I go though .... "

His head tilted as he looked right into Divine's eyes. "What's the catch? What do you want for freely giving this out, hmmm? No one hands out something for nothing, even less so in here."

"What do you mean conclusions we don't know?! If what the demon said is true - that Yuna caused him trauma - then Yamichi's assumption is probably true! He relayed that much himself before we landed back here; that she seemed possessed!"

While Eikichi raised his voice, Shivini began leaving, seeming intent on going back and resuming her watch duties. Before she got too far, a stronger than expected grip found her arm. A gasp left her lips as she turned and found the purple-haired lieutenant yanking her forward, shoving her against the wall.

"What? Not gonna finish what you started?"

Now Hajime was up on his feet, trying to help his kin calm down.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Okay, that really is enough! Look, we're not against you! If you really care about Yuna .... let her go. You know she'd slap you, if not worse, for seeing you in that sorta position.

"Alternatively," Shivini added, glaring angrily at Eikichi, "Ignore him. See what it gets you from me. I dare you."

Hajime's head shook from side to side; no, no, no, no! This is exactly why he couldn't take over! Only Yuna and Hotsuma were able to end crap like this even half decently. He wasn't nearly as good of a talker or fighter as either of them. Please don't ... he pleaded.

Absolutely not! This may be the Facility, but we are not Sector officers! We're not using that goddamn pit!

"Indeed," Eikichi darkly replied, "You demons can use it though if you so desire."

And that would be when Judai walked in ... offering the suggestion only someone like him could come up with. Duel. He looked from Shivini to the brunette, back to the Amazoness user, and finally looked right at Judai. " ... Know of a place? Or know where Yamichi is so he can track one down?"

Finally, his hand released Shivini's arm and Eikichi slowly moved back, giving her space and getting out of her face. "Don't misunderstand me; I'm not done being mad at you.. But ... Hajime's right. Yuna would man handle me if she saw me doing that. I'm not gonna be that dumb."

"That's good enough; hearing you admit such a thing," Shivini stated, rubbing her arm slightly. "Have you been working out or something?" she half-teased.

"A bit," Eikichi admitted in a soft voice. "What bars remain on the cells make it a perfect make-shift workout area so ... " He shrugged, allowing his thoughts and words to trail off. The Spellcaster then wen back to focusing on Judai, awaiting if he had an idea or would go to fetch Yamichi.

"Very true; one of the few women who isn't afraid to get involved in man's world. A rare occurrence in this day and age." Divine agreed, remembering all too well how eager she was to fight when she was at Arcadia. But of course, he wouldn't admit to Rex that he knew about her abilities, nor that she was actually over here once before.

Again, Divine would mock offense, "What, so suspicious of me? I said this was an olive branch, was it not? A means for us to establish something of a truce; I know you, Director, as you know me. We're both men of power...Of purpose, as you said earlier. And it should be no secret that we don't see eye to eye on almost everything. And this, I feel, will be one of the more purposeful moves I've made." Giving a shake of his head, Divine would say "Choose to believe it...Or don't. But this one is free of charge. No strings attached, I promise."

He could feel the Director still didn't trust him, but that was alright. He didn't need to have Goodwin on his side, just use him to get rid of a mess. And if something did happen...Well, his hands would be clean. That was the nice thing about being who he was, after all: Plausible deniability on almost anything he did. "Now then, I'm sure I've taken up enough of your time. Thank you again, Goodwin, for taking the time to hear me out. Should I see myself out, or is there a protocol to be escorted?" he then asked; whichever he would choose, Divine would then take his leave. And leave the Director alone with his thoughts for the immediate future.

Takeshi was immediately even more grateful that Judai had stepped in; this was going to get ugly very quickly if he hadn't. Neither Eikichi nor Shivini were pushovers when it came to fighting, and any brawl between the two of them would have proved disastrous for everyone. With morale lower than ever, they couldn't afford to have fighting among themselves.

"I do...I'll go talk to him. He's still in the main control room." Takeshi interjected; and with any luck, he could get the guy to come out. He'd been in there for days on end, rarely emerging to eat. Shooting Hajime an apologetic shrug with leaving a still potentially tense situation to defuse, he went off in search of the tech.

And sure enough...There was Yamichi still situated in front of all those screens, eyes glued to them as if he were watching porn. Maybe this is porn for him, Takeshi thought to himself humorously; the guy loved technology and just working with data in general. "Yamichi, how a genius like you end up in a shit-hole like this" the scout wondered; at least Takeshi knew he himself belonged here. Yamichi...He deserved something better.

"Hey...Yamichi, you got a minute?" Takeshi asked, Yamichi already typing away and not looking away from the screens at all, "There's a tournament to enter the Fortune Cup that's going to happen sometime tomorrow. If you get over there, you should be able to rent a room." Takeshi was a bit taken aback, but just said, "Well...Yeah, but I was kind of hoping you would come with us. You can't just stay cooped up in here." Yamichi then pointed behind him, "Actually, there's a bathroom and a refrigerator with food and drinks that says I can. Besides, I need to try and find someone who can work with plumbing; the state of the on-site greywater system needs improvement. Not to mention that we'll need to make a run over to the Tops for supplies."

He then casually tossed an envelope full of money at Takeshi, "There. That should cover board for the night and registration fees, as well as some extra if you decide to dine out anywhere." If there was a way to make Takeshi upset, Yamichi was doing it. "Oi, Yami...I get you're pissed; it was a bad situation, but you heard that demon guy right? Hotsuma's fine! He'll be back here, with Yuna, and they can clear up all this bullshit! So come on..." Yamichi shook his head, "No...I won't go over until the Fortune Cup is ready to go." At this he pulled out the small metal button he received for his entry, "Wondering if I should even participate at this rate."

Takeshi just grimaced, storming over and spinning Yamichi around to face him, "Yamichi! God damn it man, you know you should! Would Hotsuma want you to quit?" And at this, the tech shouted right back, "What does Hotsuma care?! Yuna fucking stabbed him...HIM! I don't why he trusted Aki to get us out, but if she hadn't...We'd have all died...I know Yuna's still out there..."

His voice trailed off, tears starting to leak from his eyes, "Tak...I'm just scared. If she could do that to Hotsuma, possessed or no, what does that say about us? If it was something that made her want to attack him instead of Aki...We could be next. And for all we know...Hotsuma could be breathing his last breaths, you know how he is." Well...Now Takeshi was starting to see, his expression softening a bit as he replied, "Yuna's not like that; whatever the hell's wrong with her, she just needs to know that we're here for her. And as for Hotsuma...If he can survive the Facility with his reputation, then that little flesh wound she gave him won't phase him in the slightest. So are you sure you're not coming with?"

Yamichi wiped his eyes and shook his head, "No...Besides, someone needs to stay behind and help Hajime run this place. I can do the most good in here...But if it makes you feel any better, he and I might have a practice Duel or two while you guys are gone." Shifting his attention back to the screens and typing away again, a printer would then spit out a few sheets of paper. "Here's the time for the tournament tomorrow, as well as local hotels you guys can stay at." Takeshi just smiled, "Thanks...And don't worry, I'm not going to lose this time. You might just face me when the tournament rolls around."

Bidding one last good-bye, the brown-haired Disciple walked back out to explain the situation. Where the tournament was, as well as the preparations Yamichi had made for them, including the cash he had given them to fund their little expedition. "Heh...Just like him...He really doesn't want to come with us though?" Judai asked, Takeshi shaking his head, "Not this time; he still needs time to process everything. He's still kind of hurting with everything regarding Hotsuma. Plus, the lucky guy is already in." Judai just nodded, "Well, hope you don't mind a fourth; I know I'm already in, but I want to see what the competition has to offer!"

Rex merely shrugged. "Yes, I am. Call it whatever you want. I like to think of it as my own precaution of sorts. I clearly need to be taking more of those given all that has been happening lately. The Facility was never supposed to fall. Not because of some teenage brats, at least. Maybe positions transferred ... something that makes sense. But for it to be taken over the way it was?"

A grimace spread over his face as he firmly shook his head.

"Never, least of all while I was still around and in charge. So ... yes. I am being a bit more defensive and cautious than usual. But I have my reasons."

Unfortunately, with no way of proving Divine was lying, he could only accept the olive branch, as well as that it was being given over with no strings attached, as the Psychic had so elegantly put it.

"Very well then. You may see yourself out. The only people who need to be escorted are fools who try to attack me." Getting up to his feet, Goodwin straightened his suit out and sauntered towards the elevator. With a deft press on the "G" button, he started descending towards the ground floor, feeling very eager and ready to work on fixing all of the numerous errors that had taken place over the past near week.

While Takeshi was away, Eikichi and Shivini seemed to be ... not perfect. But civil enough hat no further arguments happened between them. They were patiently waiting for Takeshi ... and weren't overly surprised to see him return alone. Disheartened, most definitely, but Yamichi had been taking this as badly as Hajime. Made sense; they were both second-in-commands being forced to take over their leader's positions.

"He's not coming?" Eikichi inquired, sighing as Takeshi confirmed it.

"Well ... he at least gave valid reason. It probably would be a bit redundant to go when he's earned a spot. More importantly, some of us do need to stay behind." Shivini agreed.

"Be that as it may, he's getting pale and even more thin than he already is ... " Sneaking a glance towards his ototo, Eikichi sighed before resting a hand gently on the bluenette's shoulder. "Think you can watch over Yamichi every now and again?"

Yeah ... I'll see what can do.

"That's all I'm asking. But um ... I get we need people. But you didn't earn your spot, right?"

Hajme weakly smiled, nodding. Yeah. But ... me going .... it'd be awkward. I'd only be able to talk to my opponents like I do you guys. And for others? It may freak them out. And really, I wouldn't blame them. I doubt everyone knows what Arcadia truly does and all.

Eikichi frowned, not bothering to hide his disdain for the answer. But ... he was very likely right. And for those who didn't know all the heinous acts Arcadia was capable of ... it would be weird. Hell, if Yuna and Hotsuma hadn't arrived when they did ... who's to say he wouldn't have ended up matching Hajime in any regard, be it the mute part or Psychic one? "Fine. Just ... take care, okay?"

Shivini would shake her head no as Judai offered to tag along. "As long as you're sure you can handle just watching, I've got no qualms."

"Yeah," Eikichi chimed in, "No stealing spots. You've already got your own anyway from what I've heard." Looking around one more time, his gaze rested this time on Takeshi, "So ... let's get started and prepped, huh? What's on our itinerary then?"

To say that things had gone swimmingly for Goodwin would be a lie...At least for one of them. Unknown to the majority of Neo Domino City, their precious Director did have a sibling. One that was conspiring to undermine everything he had worked for, one that he was fated to fight against. And the irony was how very opposite they were, even down to where they chose their base of operations.

There was a reason that no one ever came to the crater itself; there was a dark presence that few dared to encroach upon. The Barbaric Area after Damage was a place that even Sector was not allowed to go in the Satellite, so ordered by Rex Goodwin himself. Of course, this meant it was a haven for all the wrongdoers in the Satellite; they already broke the law, and if Sector wouldn't follow what kind of idiot wouldn't think to use it as a safe haven?

However...The concept of safety was the furthest thing from a certain someone's mind. Back turned to the large room, reviewing what appeared to be a large map of an equally impressive complex. "Demak...Can you feel it? The time grows close; soon, all the Signers will be gathered in one place. And then...We can finally eradicate them in one fell strike. And the Immortals will rise again to claim their dominion over the Earth." Rutger commented to his lieutenant, a dark-skinned and bald-headed male dressed in the similar black robes of his awakening smiling, "It is; Uru has been nothing short of pleased with the progress we've made. Everything is being put into place. And Zeman is eager to begin. All he waits for is your instruction, then we can begin to harvest the energies of the Spirit World."

Rutger just smiled, "Good. I won't lie, it has been difficult having to be so careful...But with the chaos those runts in the Satellite are causing, I'm sure Rex is having the time of his life trying to chase them down." It was here he then laughed and added, "I almost wish to find those responsible for bringing the Facility down and thank them personally; this has been an unexpected boon to our plans."

A third voice then chimed in, "I happen to know one of them; he let me get out...And now I get a second chance at getting back at Yusei. I could always thank him for you, haha." Rutget just smirked, "Save your gratitude; you were chosen because you felt a deep-seated need to destroy. But I won't lie, it is fortunate to have Ccacc Apu in a vessel that already seeks the destruction of a Signer." Kiryu waved his hand, "Just so long as I get to crush Yusei and make him suffer, I don't care if he's God incarnate. I'll make him suffer as he did me." Rutger just shrugged his shoulders, "It matters not to me what drives you to do it, only that you do it and have no regrets." Now it was Kiryu's turn to laugh, "Not likely, old man; this has been a long time coming and I'm not letting sentimentality get in the way."

Demak then heard a noise, the sounds of a whirring helicopter just overhead. "It would seem she has returned...I'd have thought the search for the girl's body would take much longer." Roman turned and faced the two other males who were seated at the long table in the room, its surface lit by candelabras since there was no working power source nearby for the lights. "So...Who exactly is else invited to this little get-together? Why are we even here anyway?" Kiryu then asked, Rutger shaking his head "Patience, Kiryu...I don't like having to repeat myself. Once Misty returns with our final member, we can begin." Kiryu let out a 'Hmph' and just sat back in his seat; he thought they were actually going to do something, not just talk about it.

" ... Now what are you whimpering about?!"

A very frustrated Misty turned to look at a half-trembling, half-sobbing Carly.

"This isn't what I wanted! N-Not like this!"

Misty sighed, crossing her arms over her chest. "Some part of you must have," she calmly explained, "Otherwise, you wouldn't have been selected."

"W-What's .. with this outfit? This mark? Everything?"

"Like I've told you for the millionth time, all will be revealed if you just shush and follow me. We've already kept the others waiting. One way or another, you are joining me. Don't make me drag or carry you. You think you're in despair now? I promise, it will be worse if you were to arrive in a pitiful state like that."

While it was true that Carly hadn't been fond of her unfair murder, this wasn't much better. Was it? The fact this other woman was keeping her in the dark made her scared and on edge. At the same time though ... it was becoming more and more apparent that no matter how shady this whole situation felt ... she could only follow. Very reluctantly and begrudgingly, most definitely. Still, she knew her limits. Weakly nodding, Carly began to slowly walk forward, resuming following Misty.

"Make yourself more presentable."

By the time the two arrived, any visilbe tears or indications that would otherwise reveal Carly had been crying were gone. Her tremors, however, weren't fully faded, and it gave an easy hint as to what Misty was going to say soon enough.

"Sorry on the delay. There was some ... hesitation. Had to do a bit of convincing on my behalf. This is Carly Nagisa, chosen by Aslla piscu."

When Carly made no immediate effort to move, Misty had to help her take the first literal step and shoved her forward. A dangerous glare briefly entered Misty's eyes, silently warning Carly to start moving on her own .... or else. Thankfully, it was heeded, as both Carly and Misty soon took their seats. The room went silent as both awaited explanations - or, for Misty, learning how they would go about their moves - from Rutger.

And there they were at long last. Goodwin said nothing as Misty explained the reason for her delay, only watching as they would enter and take their seats, the younger woman being forced into the room by the older one. "Carly Nagisa, was it? I had hoped Asllu would have picked someone more...resolute. But alas, it must have sensed a great desire within you to have brought you back. So you had best prove yourself useful, young lady." Goodwin commented; Kiryu meanwhile, was all smiles upon seeing the two not unattractive ladies seat themselves. This certainly was a treat for him. "Well now...This just gets better all the time. And here I thought I'd have to stare at these two ugly mugs for this whole meeting." the young man joked, earning a slap to the back of the head from Demak.

"You will watch your tone around your leader" the man growled, Kiryu shrugging his shoulders, "What? I can't appreciate the fact two beautiful women have graced this hall with their presence?" Goodwin sighed exasperatedly, "Ms. Lola, this is Kiryu Kyosuke. Our other new recruit...And from the looks of it, a good deal more eager than the one you found." Kiryu laughed and said to Carly with a wicked smile, "Aw, don't listen to him; trust me, Carly, this is all for the better!"

At this Goodwin interrupted, "If we may begin, please?" Once the room fell silent, Rutger would start, "I've gathered you all here because you all have been chosen by the Immortals to be reborn. For what reason matters little, so long as you use this chance to satisfy our ultimate goal." It was here that the leader would then produce several photos, each one containing a name and a face before throwing them on the table. "These are the Signers, agents of an ancient deity known as the Crimson Dragon. I'll not bother with the long version: Just know that if the Crimson Dragon is allowed to reign, chaos will follow and destroy everything mankind has ever known. The Immortals are our one true hope for salvation; they have chosen us because that accursed beast once again threatens this world."

At this Kiryu picked up one of the photos, giving a grin as he declared, "I call dibs on this one!" Rutger shot Kiryu a poisonous glare, "I know you're eager to get started, brat, but remember that you do not get to just focus on one Signer. It is our job as a collective to exterminate them; should one of you fail, I expect each and every one of you to step in and help finish them off." Kiryu just laughed, "I know, I know! I just want to get rid of this guy first! Then I'll stomp down on anyone else!" Now this made Rutger smile a little; good, someone who reveled in annihilation. "Now...As Kiryu had already started, each of you will find a Signer and use whatever means are necessary to destroy them."

Demak then took up a picture for himself; yes, he'd heard of this girl. He still found it hard to believe that she was a Signer...But this was for the best. "M'lord, with your permission..." Demak started to say, but Rutger interrupted, "Think nothing of it, Demak; I know you had already taken initiative with this one. She is all yours." Demak bowed his head, "Thank you, sir. I will not fail you." Rutger then turned his attention back to the rest of the group, "If you have any questions, ask them now."

So many others. Then .... are they all like me? Dead as well?

If Carly hadn't been nervous before, now she definitely was. There was so many robed figures. None of the faces familiar, true, but ... they all made her on edge. As if she needed to be cautious, maybe even fearful for her life; if one could call it that. Her head bowed as she was ... scolded? Kind of yes, but not at the same time. "I ... I'll try," she finally managed to reply. How she'd do that? Make herself 'useful', that was?

Thankfully, that started being more thoroughly explained when the room went silent, though not before introductions of sorts were given out.

Creepy ... Carly thought, relieved she ended up taking a seat beside Misty rather than right next to Kiryu. How could any of this be for the best?! She ... was supposed to murder a person?

Unless any of these Signers turned out to be Divine, she honestly didn't care to sink to that sort of degree.

While the pictures got passed around, Carly would be the first between herself and Misty to browse through. Misty, meanwhile, did indeed have a question. "I do actually, yes. Fayth Milner ... does the name mean anything to anyone? I went by her grave while guiding Carly to us ... but ... " she paused, trying to find the proper words to explain the last part of her sentence. "It was as if ... an aura of life were around the grave. As if she were alive somehow. That doesn't make any sense though. So ... either someone prove me wrong with my instincts or shed more light on this."

When her head turned as she noticed Carly still staring at the images, she sighed softly. "Just choose one."

"But --- hey!"

Misty reached over, snatching all but one, forcing her to hold one photo; Jack's to be more specific. "There. Goodness. I may not agree with the tone he's trying to say it in, but Kiryu is right about one thing; this rebirth is for the best. Don't waste it."

Carly nodded, finding herself unable to verbally reply. Her hands shook lightly as they kept holding onto Jack's image. Could she even go through with this? She didn't know ... so, as a needed distraction, she paid heed to the topic Misty brought up. If that did somehow turn out to be true, it'd be quite the interesting story. A person dad yet alive at the same time? She couldn't deny, it was an intriguing thought. Although she was no longer a reporter, it certainly sounded like something that would have proven to be a very interesting story. Sure, it sounded impossible ... but given her own status as - effectively - an undead person, maybe not as inconceivable as it would normally sound.

Rutger raised an eyebrow as Misty brought to attention another matter, the passage of the photos; he didn't consider her to pay much attention to the life readings of another, despite her having the ability to do as such. "A grave signaling someone's alive?" Rutger replied, placing a hand to his chin; could it be someone else who was supposed to be a Dark Signer? Much like the rest of them were?

At this Kiryu laughed, "Oh, Fayth caught your eye too, huh beautiful? She looks pretty good for a dead girl, if I do say so myself." If Rutger had ever shown interest before, his furrowed brows as he approached Kiryu were certainly a statement to that much. "Explain yourself, Kiryu. What do you mean by that?" the leader asked, the former Enforcer grinning, "Well hold on...Let me just say thought I don't know this for sure. I did see a mark on her...It was glowing after I tried to trap Yusei the first time. It was the same as that dickhead had on his arm...But you know, on her shoulder."

Now this was troubling; there was a Signer that he didn't know about? "Demak...What is the meaning of this? I thought you said all the Signers were accounted for." Rutger demanded, the bald man instantly getting to his knees and bowing, "My apologies, I had no idea, Lord Rutger. I'll find out about this girl, straight away." Rutger just nodded, "See that you do. I don't want any more surprises. Kiryu...Since you seem to have seen her before, care to elaborate on her appearance? Where to find her, perhaps?"

The white-haired young man just snickered, "Oh sure...She's real easy to spot. She's got a blindfold on, and has long blond hair. And that wasn't enough of a giveaway, there's some mouthy bitch with her. Swear they're stuck like glue, you know? Hair color like mine, but probably got more chemicals in it than a can of diet soda. She's too delicate to survive in the Satellite, even the tamer parts. You'll find her in the Tops, on that I can guarantee." And without another word and a nod from Rutger, Demak vanished down the entry way, Kiryu shouting after him "And if you run into Yusei with her, leave him alone! He's mine!"

Rutger pinched the bridge of his nose; surely the Immortals knew who they were picking, right? "Any more questions, then?" the leader asked, Kiryu shrugging, "Sorry bossman, but it seems pretty fucking clear to me." And upon seeing no other inquires from the two female members of the group, he then said, "Very well then; you have your assignments. Now go out into the world and await further instructions. You all are dismissed."

And with that out of the way, Kiryu was quick sidle up right next to Carly and Misty. "Finally! I never did like sitting around. Shame what happened, really; world should be sad to not count you among the living." he then said, giving them both a small grin as he turned his attention to the younger woman. "But hey...Carly, like Misty said...This is your chance. Someone obviously wronged you, that's why one of those Immortal things picked you, right? Use this to get some payback! You can't tell me you wouldn't like to see whoever offed you piss themselves when you show them you survived death, right?"

Misty's eyes narrowed as Kiryu tried to flatter her with the word 'beautiful'. The compliment wasn't the issue. On the contrary, it was the undertones that she was easily picking up on. The main thing keeping Misty's attitude in check was simple; he at least wasn't dumb enough to try anything. Hopefully that wasn't just because others were around ... but that was exactly why she would be cautious of him, even when the meeting adjourned.

Whilst Kiryu explained who this Fayth was, both women had their respective reactions. Misty smirked, very much intrigued and amused. Carly seemed ... something in between confused, horrified, and also curious. How were things like this happening?!

"I think," Misty stated in a matter-of-fact tone, "She should be interrogated first. I definitely wish to see her. Assuming she is a Signer ... I, personally, want to learn how so."

Granted, Aki was her main target, much like Yusei was Kiryu's. But what Rutger had said was true; it didn't mean the others couldn't assist with others. And this Fayth seemed to be defying not just Death, but becoming something that none of them figured she would be; another Signer. With all she was going against, Misty felt her to be one of the biggest threats, which thus meant investigating before outright killing. If they could mimic such tactics - or at least understand them - it would help in preventing history from repeating. Hopefully, anyway.

Both Misty nor Carly would move their head in a 'no' direction, confirming they understood their mission ... even if one didn't seem to like it still.

Misty would be the first to try to get up. Before she could help Carly, though, Kiryu practically over at them. She stared at the man ... looking for any signs or emotions that may be ones to look out for before slowly sitting back down herself.

"W-Well ... true. But that person ... they're not a Signer. I'd just rather deal with him than going after someone I'm not angry with."

"Who was it? Mind sharing what happened? I kinda got an idea given all the cuts you had but ... I want to hear it directly from you."

Carly hesitated, gripping gently on her lip before softly beginning to confess, "Divine ... he .... threw me out a window on the top floor of the Arcadia building. He used his Psychic powers to do so ... "

"You were in Arcadia?" Misty inquired, her eyes narrowing as she watched Carly give an affirmative nod.

"There ... we heard a lot of rumors of people from the Tops just mysteriously disappearing. A few had been seen going there. So, while I was still a reporter, I went to try to find out what was going on. They ... they do human experimentation. Apparently, he did a lot of work on a Yuna Takeda and Hotsuma Oboro in particular. They're not just Psychics ... they're ... hardly human with all the abilities he gave them. When he found out I learned all of this ... he killed me to keep me quiet."

Misty's eyes softened as she gently rubbed one of Carly's shoulders. "If it helps, I truly am sorry. This woman ... " she held up Aki's photo, "Is his right-hand woman. So I've got my own grudge with those individuals myself. Unfortunately, I can't say I'm amazed he sank that low. Divine is less than honorable of a man; he just pretends to be. And, sadly, he is very good at fooling most other people."

"Still," Carly quipped, "Jack isn't Divine! Why do we have to do this?!"

Misty sighed; oh dear. This ... was going to be a very rough job, to get her to understand and accept everything.

Kiryu just smirked as Carly continued to show hesitation, likely to Misty's chagrin. So, at least Kiryu was certain that his lust for revenge hadn't changed; if she was still her him-hawing self, then it showed that his character had maintained beyond the final stage of the cycle. At the very least, it meant he could very well attack Yusei and still know that it was him.

"Interrogated, huh? Well, if that's your intent, I certainly plan to watch. Seeing her squirm while surrounded by dead people would be a funny sight indeed." Kiryu commented. "Though trust me when I say I don't think you're going to get anything useful out of her...But I think she could serve as very powerful bait if all else fails. Could lure a few of the Signers out that way. Worked with Yusei the first time, might even work with some of the others." he then added...But stopped when Carly then went on to explain how Yuna had been experimented on.

"Experimented on...How the hell do you mean by that?" he then asked...But instead his memory went back to how Yuna had talked to him...As well as Sosuke. He specifically remembering mentioning that he had a way to get out of there...And he had done it. Was this Sosuke and Hotsuma the same person? But...At the very least he could help her get some motivation...Unaware of just how close to the truth he was hitting.

"Carly...I want you to listen though, alright. Imma let you in a little secret: Fayth and Yuna were like two peas in a pod. This Yuna seems the real uppity feminist type, the kind to think that all women are superior to men. Now, I don't know about this Aki girl, but I'm thinking she got chummy with her too. If that's the case, then Aki must have had something to do with Yuna and Hotsuma's 'situations'. Now are you going to tell me you're okay with letting a monster like that run around freely?"

Sitting back a little bit, he continued, "And if I know Yusei and Jack, they're real 'forgive and forget types'. Which means they won't care that she helped create what those had become...Now, being a reporter as you said, you wanted justice right? To find the taken and give the families closure on what really happened? For all we know, he could have been conducting experiments to try and harness the Crimson Dragon's power by gathering the other Signers; Yuna and Hotsuma could have just been the start. Who knows what he could accomplish with a Signer at his side? If he had all of them by his side?"

Of course, Kiryu couldn't really give a rat's ass about any of that. He just wanted Yusei's head on a platter and wreak some havoc in the process. But hey, if he managed to score some brownie points by helping out Misty and Carly, then he was all for it. Besides, last thing he needed was some wanna-be justice warrior dragging them down.

Rutger, meanwhile, was listening to the boy speak while standing in a doorway leading out of the meeting hall; a small grin crossed his face as he saw Kiryu in a new light. "Maybe Ccacc Apu made a better choice than I realized. This boy could be a very vital key to our success." he mused, finally taking his leave.

Standing up, Kiryu then held out a hand to Carly, "So...What do you say? Tell you what, once we get the go-ahead, I'll make sure you and Divine get all the time you want together." And after that he even went so far as to shoot Misty a sly wink, as if to say 'Don't worry, I know how to handle this'. Of course, he wasn't entirely sure it would work...But hey, he had to try something.

Misty chuckled softly, moving her head from side to side. "Oh no, Kiryu. I'm not doing this alone. You are going to help me. Unless ... you're saying you have too weak of a stomach to assist? Anyway ... I may need help shifting from more generous interrogation methods to ... more dire measures being used. And you seem - assuming you're not too nervous to help out - better with that than myself in that regard."

Poor Carly was beginning to feel a bit sick. How could people talk about such topics like it was normal? She wanted to run ... far away. Hell if she knew where, just so long as it got her away from these people. This was becoming too much for her to handle or listen to. Her head quickly moved from side to side when Kiryu inquired how Yuna and Hotsuma had been experimented on. "I didn't read enough to get an answer on the 'how' part. Just ample information to imply some less-than-humane methods were used on them."

Yet, Kiryu didn't stop there. He continued to talk. And for whatever exact reason, it was making her more nervous than when she'd arrived here. None of this was sitting well with Carly ... not one bit.

"Stop! Please .... "

Her hands gripped the side of her head for a few seconds. As Carly let go, she panted slightly. "I .... this isn't my call to make. I'm not someone who can nor should be able to judge others. I ... I don't know. Even if what you say is true about Aki ..... I just .... "

Carly moved her head from side to side, storming out of the room.

And before he could try to follow, Misty would place a hand on Kiryu's shoulder. "She's still adjusting to her new .... state. Let her be. She was worse of a wreck when I found her. One way or another, she'll realize this is a fight she won't be able to win."

It'd be unfortunate, no doubt. But ... if Carly kept trying to resist, then her own Immortal would step in. Whether she realized that soon enough or not? Well ... they'd all find out, eventually.

Seeing Carly run out of the room, Kiryu just sighed, looking down to see Misty's hand stopping him from going after her. "Yeah, I know. But if I'm being honest? Having someone like her is a liability. If there's shit to get done, then we need to keep it together. That's why I say we settle our vendettas first. Get those out of the way so that we can put those crappy Signers in the ground where they belong." She would see that Kiryu had no real qualms about offing potentially innocent people; he had no real doubts Yusei made contact with the rest of them or a good number.

Which meant if these 'Signers' were as powerful as Rutger had said, it would make his plans for vengeance all the more aggravating.

Giving Misty a grin, he then said, "Oh, and by the way? You're not going to chase me off by thinking I don't have the stomach for it; had Fayth's bitchy little friend not stepped in, I'd have taken care of one Signer for you guys already. So trust me, I have more than the stomach for it." Patting her hand, he then added, "Well...Let's not keep her waiting, shall we? You want to interrogate her, I know just the way...Let's go see how much she truly knows about herself."

The next day, there would be two tournaments held back to back; seemed like the Dueling Committee was wanting to wrap things up for the selection process. There would be a lesser number of applicants this time around; most that had wanted to apply saw the craziness that followed in the Duels before and dropped their plans like a hot potato. Which meant plenty of room for any newcomers.

Of course...Takeshi was again mourning over the number he had received; even if it was just eight contestants this time, just....why? He could only stare forlornly at the number '4' on his chest. "Man...Again with the unlucky number. Why me, huh? The hell is this, Kami-sama? You trying to constantly bring me bad luck?" he then asked up to no one in particular. Judai just laughed, "Hey, you made it pretty far the last time right? And with any luck, you might just get a chance to get into this Fortune Cup! Think about it, you might even get to rematch against me!"

Takeshi just smirked, "Yeah...Suppose I could. But we'll see how it turns out. First I gotta try and beat these two powerhouses; their decks are no joke." And it was true; Eikichi's in particular was a real pain to deal with, especially if he was still using the same (or similar) strategy that he remembered him using.

"Aww, don't sweat it so much! You guys are just here to have fun, right? Even if you don't get in, a good Duel can always help cheer you up!" Judai laughed, slapping Takeshi on the back; the brown-haired Disciple couldn't help but smile. This guy's spirit was infectious, that much was certain.

But...Then MC came out, making quite the entrance for himself. "GOOD AFTERNOON, EVERYONE! I'M YOUR HOST, MC! LET'S NOT KEEP YOU LOVELY PEOPLE WAITING! YOU CAME HERE FOR SPECTACULAR DUELS, SO QUEUE IT UP! BECAUSE IT'S TIME!" And at this, he would then point to a screen where it would randomly generate a list of individuals as well as match order.

3 vs. 6
7 vs. 1
2 vs. 8
4 vs. 5

Takeshi's face fell a little, before stamping his foot, "Man, AND I have to go last! Again!" Judai just chuckled weakly, "Well...Shoot, I don't know what to say to that. Except...Use this time to go through your deck, maybe? And hey, think of it this way; at least all three of you have a chance to make it to the second round, right? Neither of you three are going up against each other, so you just have to beat whatever opponents decide to come your way!"

An actual night's rest - and meals - in the hotel they spent the night at had done wonders for Eikichi's mood. If he was still irked from yesterday's events, then he was much more calmer compared to the day before. He wouldn't dare admit it but, the moment it was revealed there would be only eight opponents, that made him nervous. The odds of going against Shivini or Takeshi were actually pretty high. Granted, learning that the op four spots would earn a financial prize did sorta help. It was a form of compensation should none of them win a spot for the Fortune Cup.

Not that Yamichi had spent all of his own winnings. But extra wouldn't be bad, either.

"Hmmm?" Both Shivini and Eikichi inquired, hearing Takeshi whine about his designated number. "What'd you have last time?" the Amazoness user asked.

The purple-haired lieutenant, meanwhile, chuckled softly. "You've always been so damn superstitious. Chill out, hmmm? That doesn't always mean whatever it's supposed to signify or whatnot."

There it was. What everyone had been waiting for; the first round match-ups. Eikichi sighed in relief as he saw no one would have to go against one another. At least not in the first round, which was good. "Last isn't always bad. You know the old proverb, don't ya? Save the best for last and such?"

Was it for the best he was gonna go second?

Well ... he'd find out, he supposed.

"Exactly!" Shivini encouraged Takeshi as Judai pointed out what Eikichi already noted; that none of them were at risk for eliminating one another from the get-go. "Think of the positives."

As the first two figures walked up to the stage, one would be very recognizable ... at least to both Takeshi and Judai. Furthermore, this specific person very likely would have made a certain tech blush if he'd come along.

"Yeah, yeah, I get it, I get it..." Takeshi finally said to all the comments; could they blame him though? Things hadn't exactly gone well for anyone, let alone himself. He couldn't help wondered if he was cursed and just happened to make others unlucky by proxy.

But...That thought went out the window when Takeshi would lay eyes on the two duelists that stepped into the ring, their names announced by MC. "No way...Guess she wants a second try too." Takeshi muttered, Judai quirking a brow and asking "What, you know her?" At this the brunette Disciple just chuckled, "I don't know her personally...But Yamichi does, that's for sure." Leaning a bit closer so that his voice was a whisper, he then said, "Don't tell Yamichi I told you this, because he'd try to kick my ass...But she kissed him after they dueled! And you should have seen his face afterward, hahaha! Freaking priceless!"

However, they wouldn't get too much of a chance, as Ling would take the victory in a rather impressive manner, summoning an arsenal of powerful beasts rather effortlessly. "And the first winner, ladies and gentlemen! Give it up for Ling and her opponent Jiro!" MC declared, the arena cleared for round two in a matter of minutes. "Well Eikichi, you ready to go? Looks like you're up!" Takeshi cheered...Who would his opponent be?

"Alright, folks! Let's go! Will Contestants 7 and 1 please make their way to the arena?"

Once up there, Eikichi would see his opponent. Wearing quite the sour look on her face, but was it because he was her opponent, or some other reason? Her eyes seemed resolute enough, very much the type that wouldn't put up with nonsense. "Here we are, folks! The second fight of round one! Eikichi vs. Sasaki Isao! Now for the coin toss!"

However, instead of the typical coin, the audience and the duelists would see that the giant screen in the center would have a massive coin on it. "Call it!" MC declared, Sasaki shouting "Tails!" and sure enough...On tails it landed. "Hmph...I'll attack second. You can have the first move." she then said in a rather flat tone, MC going silent and after both would activate their Disks, their Life reading 8000.

"Duel!"

Both Eikichi and Shivini whistled. Damn. Ling did not hold back. Although, to be more fair, it was interesting that so few people even used the Five God Dragon nowadays. Sure, it was a fusion. But it seemed like a given for any dragon deck ... though maybe that was just the logic of the Yomi members. Then again, even Eikichi didn't really heed his own mental advice, proven by the fact he had no Extra Deck. Period. It just had never been needed.

Shivini had one ... though not a huge one.

Suppose the next match will determine if you should consider adding anything or not, Eikichi decided.

"Nervous?" Shivini teased, looking just a bit surprised when she got a more honest than expected answer.

"Somewhat. When's the last time we dueled in public again?"

Okay. Point made. Still, Shivini smirked, lightly patting Eikichi's shoulders. "You wanted to come here. Far too late to back out. Go on! And good luck!"

Taking a moment to close his eyes and take a deep breath, Eikichi strode forward .... and wow, what a face he was greeted with. Literally so. The girl seemed so very .... bored? Annoyed? Whatever she was trying to convey, it didn't fit a person ready to partake in a duel.

"Oi. If you're afraid I'm one of the usual pricks with a superiority complex or whatnot, I'm not. I know that's a really common issue, particularly among men. But you won't get that from me; I promise."

Sure, it may be the wrong guess. But that was exactly why he tossed something out. Hopefully she'd open up and talk? Reveal why such the long face was being worn? If it could be helped, he didn't really want to go against a possible sore winner or loser. If push came to shove ... Eikichi had tried.

"Very well then. Draw!"

... Goddamnit, Takeshi. I'm somehow blaming you for this.

One monster and the rest traps. Ouch.

But .... he could make his work. It'd be tedious, but not yet impossible.

"I'll summon Blast Magician then set two cards. Your go."

Sasaki gave a slight 'Tch' as he would announce his intent; contrary to what her face showed, she was here to compete. To win if at all, not make nice with her opponents; still, if she lost, it was because her opponent was prepared better. The only way to defeat your enemy was to destroy them entirely...And this was why she built her deck the way she did. It had a very simple theme, one any Spellcaster user could appreciate.

And when Eikichi finished his turn, she would declare, "My turn! Draw!" Looking down at her hand, she was quick to make her next move. "From my hand, I activate the Magic Card, Instant Fusion! At a cost of 1000 Life, I can Special Summon one Level Five or lower Fusion Monster from my Extra Deck! Rise to the melody of destruction, Musician King!"

And when she did summon her monster...It didn't match her personality in the slightest. This monster she brought out looked like it was ready to party, complete with shirtlessness and the headband holding up a full plume of yellow hair, playing a short but powerful guitar riff as it appeared. "Whoa, I remember that card! I didn't think others used Fusions this much! This is awesome!" Judai exclaimed, not perturbed by the monster in the slightest.

Sasaki however, was far from done. "Next I summon the Tuner Monster, Arcane Philo! I use it and Musician King to Synchro Summon!" And again, Judai would get treated to a Synchro Summon once more, Musician King giving a powerful strum of its guitar strings before it fell away into orbs of light, two green rings surrounding it. "Release naught but destruction! Arcanite Magician!" she then declared rather intensely, the white-robed arcane master appearing...But with only 400 ATK, it didn't stand a candle to defeating Eikichi's Blast Magician.

"Arcanite's Effect! When it's Synchro Summoned, I can place two Spell Counters on this card and it gains 1000 ATK for each one!" Sasaki clarified, her Synchro rising rapidly to 2400 ATK, two dark orbs appearing over its head. "Arcane Philo's effect activates in the Graveyard! If I use it as a Synchro Material, I can add one "Buster Mode!" Trap card to my hand!" Doing so, she then went on "Arcanite's other effect! I can remove one Spell Counter to destroy one card on your field! Destroy the set card on the right! Destruction Wave!"

And just like that, Eikichi's Trap was removed...But now with her monster at 1400, any attack would just be a tie. And she knew it would be unwise to continue, so she then said "I'll set a card and end it there. Your move."

Takeshi just watched, remarking "Well...She seems like a barrel of fun. Guess Eikichi got Hajime's luck on his first duel..." Granted, this opponent wasn't hurling insults...But this was supposed to be fun, right? Why couldn't people just let their hair down...Or in Sasaki's case, why couldn't she take a note out of Musician King's book?
