Guardian {Fogu_s_Tofu & Dawn Dearest}

"Mmm Kinny...stop it." she said feeling the blush go down her neck. She groaned and bit her lower lip "Pie...?" she asked taking it in two different directions. One pie could be eaten off of a plate....yet the other.......

She mentally smacked herself and jumped slightly, "Kinny....come on...uhm..." she looked at the girls who were eying her and silently laughing. Groaning again she grabbed his hand and yanked him heading towards the door to leave.

'She looks cute when she blushes.' "Bye ladies." he called as she rushed him from the shop. he laughed the whole way out. As they hit the street he stopped her. "I'm sorry." His expressions betrayed his sincerity. "I was only playing."

"Liar." Jorie said laughing softly as they entered a sandwich shop. Grinning she walked up to the counter, her eyes traveled to the many cookies on display, all of them you could easily grab. There were chocolate chip cookies. Double chocolate chip cookies. A type of cookie she'd never seen before. In truth there was so many she couldn't keep track of them all. After ordering her own sandwich and drink she asked "What do you want?" to Kinny without looking at him.

He saw the baked goods right away. He walked to it and was trying to pick one out. He found it, a soft chocolate fudge one, about the size of his hand. This is when she asked him what he wanted. "I want a cookie." He said picking it up.

Groaning she turned as she spoke. "Kinny...." she paused seeing the cookie already in his hand. She groaned again and shook her head softly. Then turned and took out her wallet. Taking money out she paused and asked "Would you like anything else little boy?" she was teasing him now.

He gave her an odd look as he took a bite. a small grin appearing as he realised what she'd thought. "Would you like anything else little boy?" He looked at the menue. "A fish sandwhich." He got his order out through a mouthful of cookie, everything was turning into an inuendo in his head, but it's really what he wanted.

Jorie rolled her eyes and made a face. "Eww." she muttered under her breath as she shook her head paying for their food. Soon enough the food was there. Grabbing the bag of sandwiches and drinks. She said "I want to eat in the park." with that she began walking to the door. She had a funny feeling in her stomach that something wasn't right.

Kinny followed, still happily chewing the remains of the poor defenseless cookie. He noticed her acting strange. "Are you okay?" He put his arm on her back and leaned foreward to look at her. "Jorie?"

Jorie jumped when his arm went to her back. She looked at him and nodded slowly. "I think so...I just have a funny feeling is all..." as if on command a shadow crossed over the sky. Storm clouds were brewing.

He nodded understanding her. The feeling was washing over him too. Something dark lurked nearby. "Hey. Let's get back to the park before all of the tables with umbrellas are taken."

He really didn't want her to worry, whatever this was, he'd face it if he had too. "Then, we go where ever you want."

"I...I want to go home..." Jorie whispered hearing thunder in the distance. Ever since Jorie could remember, she'd been terrified of storms. Beyond all reasons, she was terrified of them, for no apparent reason. She jumped when she saw lightning "Please?" she whispered shaking now. The bad feeling was growing stronger as well adding to her discomfort.

He nodded, understanding what she went through. He put his arm around her shoulder to try and comfort her. "Sure thing." He said as he began to lead her back home.

The lightning and thunder were quite active, but he was thankful for the lack of rain as they stepped on her... the idea just caught up with him. it was their lawn. he smiled. "Here we are, home at last."

Jorie paused on the lawn and looked around, it was theirs. Not her anymore. Theirs...along with her parents. It felt strange, her guardian angel/boyfriend now lived with her. He always had she supposed, but now....he literally lived with her. She smiled softly at him then screamed and jumped up when she heard the thunder it sounded so close.

"Come on, let's get you inside." He guided her to the door as they held onto eachother. He opened the portal and let her enter the house first. closing the door behind them he gave a sigh. Home, how long had it been since he truely felt as if he had one.

"Shall we eat in the kitchen or in your room?" the question showed he still hadn't come to grips withthe reality yet, and it was her room.

Jorie shivered just as the rain began pelting down. She listened to it hit the windows she watched the lightning make the sky bright, she listened to the clap of thunder. All bad signs.

"What's happening?" Jorie whispered aloud not really thinking. Since Kinny had become visible she'd been feeling things easier now, and it was beginning to bug her. Shivering again she looked around then said "My room. That way I can hide under my blankets when it gets really bad." in her room she also had some candles to help relax her. She also wanted to try on her new dresses.

"What's happening?" He really didn't have an answer. He took all of the bags, allowing her to carry the food, and let her go up the stairs first. "After you my dear." They made it in to the same haven already filled with so many good and unfortunate memories. Last night adding it's own to the mix. He set the bags in the desk chair and brought out the candles he knew she loved to have out on days like this. He set them around and lit each. Before long he was next to her on the bed. "Better?"

Reaching over Jorie grabbed a candle off of the side table, and began to move her fingers through the flame. She nodded slowly as she sat cross-legged on the bed. She sighed softly and watched the flame closely, her fingers continued going through the flame, she ignored the tiny little burns she received from the flame, she was distracting herself. She was happy. She slowly looked up and at Kinny, her finger still moved through the flame. She wasn't sure how he felt about her doing this, she used to always do it, but she didn't know he was there at the time.

He watched closely at the sight, as always. as long as she didn't get burnt too badly, he'd allow it, everyone had their oddities. He gave her a smile and unwrapped their food. He set her's out first. "It'll be over before you know it, sweetie." He reassurd Jorie adding. "I'm right here, where i've always been."

"I know..." she said softly as she continued playing with the flame. She eyed her food, not overly hungry any more.
"Ouch!"
Jorie pulled her finger away from the candle the top of her finger was covered in wax, and her finger was black from the flame. She stared at it, a small pout on her lips.

He took her by the hand, having her keep her finger out, and blew on it. helping to cool the wound. The wax hardened and he carefully peeled it off. He knew that it neede some thing, he remembered seeing aloe in the bathroom before he'd left this morning. "I'll be right back." He said standing up. He disappeared and returned with the bottle and a gauze wrap. "One thing's for sure, the first aid kit your aunt gave you actually came in handy." He kneeled in front of her and tended to the burn, giving her palm a kiss when he'd finished. He took up his spot next to her and began to eat. Happy with the fact that he could really take care of her.

Jorie sat there and watched him, she smiled softly and tilted her head. "I don't even remember getting it...wow." She began laughing seeing as he remembered something she didn't. About her own life. Shaking her head she put the candle down on the dresser and sighed 'I guess I shouldn't play with it any more should I?" she asked and picked up her sandwich. She put it back down and wrapped it up not hungry.

He nodded. "It helps to remember certain things if you have to keep a person safe." Kinny smiled as she put the candle down, but a small frown came across his face when she rewrapped her food. He felt bad eating when she wasn't hungry. He took another bite, then set the fish aside.
"So how do we drop this on your rents?" He threw in the term 'rents'. He'd heard it on the television and he did need to learn to fit in. He was just trying to help her get the storm off her mind, and figured anything would be better than just sitting here.

Jorie shrugged slowly. "I'll tell 'em what the cop said. They won't remember that far back due to drinking...they'll just agree." she looked down and at his food. "Oh keep eating, I'm just not hungry right now. I probably will be in a bit." she shivered and looked outside her window and at the storm. Her eyes followed the rain drops as they pelted the window.

Kinny nodded, they'd been drunks since even he could remember. "Yea." Just then he felt the need to take them both to the floor, as they landed a branch burst through the window sending glass soaring over them. they were spaired only by the bed.

A scream tore from Jorie when he moved them, then she couldn't breath, she'd had her breath knocked out of her. Squirming she made a face as she breathed deeply calming her body down. She'd heard the crash and shattering glass. But she had no clue what it was from. An inch from her nose a sharp of glass landed, her eyes were wide as she screamed again.
