Through the Veil (citizenanon x shani)

"Breakfast would be lovely." Sirius admitted. It had been some time since he had eaten. Lunch the day before actually now that he thought of it. His stomach rumbled in agreement that he was hungry. "Thank you, Madame Pomfrey."

It was just moments later when a very light breakfast appeared next to them on a small table. Sirius helped himself to the porridge. While he ate quietly, he considered the best method for escape. He could simply walk out of the castle or better yet, use a secret tunnel out. That would certainly get on Albus's nerves.

After his breakfast, Sirius sat it down and glanced at Poppy. "Madame, while I certainly do not wish to be a poor patient, I do have several charges of my own to see to and need to get back to them before they grow sick from worry." He smiled. "If I promise to rest and relax after my meeting with Mr. Dumbledore, would you clear me for leaving?"

Poppy nodded as an order for breakfas was placed so he'd be able to eat. She could hear his stomachy grumble wondering how long he had been without nurishment. "You are most welcome Mr. Grim.

Noticing the meal appear she smiled then turned to look at some paper work looking at a few things on his char wanting to check how everything was healing knowing it would take time.

Listening to his request, she wasn't sure about it, "Well I don't think that would be a great idea seeing as most of your bones and your organs needed to be regrown. It would be best to keep you at least another day to make sure everything is alright., and has healed properly." she suggested.

Sirius nodded a bit, "I understand that I need to rest, but I have other priorities to see to." Sirius sat up slowly and gingerly. "I don't want to leave without your clearance, but I will if I need to, Madame. But... one of the people that is staying with me is studying to be a healer. If you were to write up instructions, I'll see to it that she gets them." Sirius turned and dangled his legs over the side of the bed. It hurt to move, but he was not going to stay put. Not while he had the two Black girls at home. "Please see this from my perspective, Madame."

The wards over the cottage were set to fail should he ever die, so the girls would not be trapped there forever, but being stuck there alone with no news would be enough to drive Bellatrix crazy. That much he was certain of.

"Yes, and you must understand until you are healed you will not be able to care for your other priorities." She replied watching him as he attempted o get up. "Now Mr. Grim, you need to relax lay down and rest at least a few more hours to make sure your body has been healed correctly. I will think on your requeast as long as you are well enough you will be able to leave I will right care tips for the one who is studying to be a healer...and I can see it very cleary from yours but you must see it from mine until you are in better condition you must rest I'm sure your charges will be fine for a little while longer." Reaching into her pocket she pulled out a potion, "Here start with taking this it'll help the pain."

Narcissa had awaken and pried herself from Bella's arms Bella having only closed her eyes for a moment not having slept worring about Sirius, and about being trapped. Narcissa Showered dressed and went to start breakfast or well lunch by this time. turning on the radio hoping to hear something. Bella tossed in her bed awaake turing to relax but her Anxiety was acting up. Concerned for her cousin and for their well being.

Sirius narrowed his eyes at Poppy, but nodded. "As you wish, Madame. A couple more hours will be alright." Sirius agreed. He scooted back on the bed and lay down slowly back in the position he had been in originally. He hated the infirmary, but it was true that Poppy would treat him well. Sirius took a swallow of the potion when she handed it to him and closed his eyes. Sleep very quickly over took him and the world went to black.

It was another couple hours before Sirius woke up. The sun was just a bit brighter than it had been before. Sirius stretched slowly and did not feel the pulling sensation that he had experienced before. At the very least he was feeling a little bit better. Awake now, he glanced around the infirmary to figure out where his care taker had gotten off to.

***

Albus spent the morning compiling what information that he could about the Mr. Grim. Obviously it was an alias, but he had no idea who the man actually was. What he did know was that he was dangerous and had no problem with using dangerous curses, but it did not seem that he was adept at using the killing curse, just used other lethal curse. It seemed the man had come out of nowhere, but was a very dangerous individual.

Once he was resting back in bed, sleeping with aid from the potion Poppy looked over his body checking the once fresh wounds and how hey healed to checking the bones and orans that were still rowing and forming wih in him. Seeing as they were witches there medical advancements were great and they actually cared about helping people, healing without causing further damage.
Returning to her desk she began to fill out paper work and charts getting copies and writing ou care tips for him to take with him alhough she didn't like the idea of him going back to be cared for by an amature she couldn't nessicarily force him to stay.

After a few hours had passed Poppy gathered everything he would need copies of his charts and wha was done to potions to be given for healing and pain. Goingback to check on him seeing that he was awake once more "How are you feeling now?" She asked, knowing she would also have to alert Albus that she was releasing him.

Meanwhile the sisters had been in a heavy arguement as Narcissa tried to make Bellatrix eat food but she continued to refude it. Bella was stressed and felt sick enough she couldn't bring herself to eat. Narcissa had given up and went to her room with the radio hile Bella went outside trying to enjoy the fresh air and cool down. Having changed from her night dress ino her form fitting black dress, corset, stockings boots. Leaving her curls loose and free. She sat on a blanket leaning against the tree waying out their options trying o plan their next course of action.

"I'm feeling like I was hit by a lorrie, but feeling much better. Things aren't... pulling like they were earlier." Sirius admitted freely. He was still sore, but feeling somewhat better from the earlier pain. Sirius eyed the paperwork that she carried and seemed to understand that she was going to release him. "I thank you for your care, Madame Pomfrey." Sirius sat up slowly. "What is the best way to get to Mr. Dumbledore's office?"

"Well that's not exactly what I'd like to hear but it is what I would expect...I'm glad to hear you are not as sore." She replied looking everything over once more. "This is everything the person who will care for you will need, you are very welcome." Poppy handed him the potions and the paperwork he needed. "The best way is to take a left out of here, down the hall to the right up the stairs and to the left his office will be on the right." Giving him the direcions so he could find his way to Albus, She was impressed by his strengh and her own ability seeing that she was a year older than Narcissa but had granduated early to pursue healing.

Sirius smiled at her and stood up. He stretched again slowly to make sure that everything worked before taking the few steps to Pomfrey. Before taking the paperwork from her, he put both of his hands on her shoulders. "Thank you again, Madame." Sirius leaned in and kissed her cheek before winking at her. He took the paperwork and potions and looked towards the door. "I hope the next time we meet, it's under better circumstances."

With that, he left the infirmary and began the slow walk towards Albus' office.

Sirius had just reached the gargoyle when it jumped aside to let him up. Typical. He moved upstairs and knocked on the man's door before stepping inside. Albus sat behind his desk as usual while Sirius limped inside and sat down at the offered seat.

"Lemon drop?" Albus offered.

Sirius shrugged and took one of the offered sweets. "Thank you, Mr. Dumbledore."

"Albus, please."

"Thank you, Albus. You may call me John."

"Yes, John, but that's not your real name is it? There has been no John Grim registered at Beauxbatons." Albus did not appear too upset by catching him in a lie.

"No, it's not my real name." Sirius agreed. "But you must understand that I've put something of a target on my back and I have people that I care about that I must protect."

Albus nodded. "The Black sisters? And the young Black boys."

Sirius sat up and groaned from the pain. He was unable to speak.

"Do not stress yourself, Mr. Grim." Albus coaxed. "I do not believe Poppy would forgive me if you were hurt. I do not wish to press you for their locations. I had a very long talk with the Potters this morning. They had much to say on your behalf even if they were not clear on why they were so trusting."

Sirius shrugged. "Maybe I just have a trustable face."

Albus let out a soft chuckle, "No, Mr. Grim, I do not believe Charlus to be so easily swayed even if you are quite the charmer."

Sirius shrugged noncommitally. "What is it that you want, Albus?"

"To know that you are an ally, Mr. Grim. What is it that you hope to accomplish?"

"I thought that obvious. To stop that bastard Riddle from getting any stronger while saving as many people as I can in the process. It's not so different from your goal I should think."

"No, I should think not... even if our methods are very different. I have spoken with an Auror friend. Given that you were attacking terrorists, you will face no charges for the curses you used in defense of Hogsmeade."

Sirius nodded again, "Thank you, Albus. For the record, I think we could call ourselves allies, but I must cut our meeting short now, I do have people to check in on."

Albus frowned, but allowed it. "I shall look forward to another discussion with you, Mr. Grim. Under better circumstances. If you like, I shall open my floo to you so that you may go to Diagon Alley. In your state, you should not walk so far as the gate."

Sirius thanked Albus. "I appreciate the gesture. I will contact you soon to arrange another meeting. I believe we can help each other..." Sirius took Albus up on his offer and took the floo to Diagon Alley before apparating away back to his cottage. He appeared outside the door and immediately collapsed against the wall. He held himself up and took a long deep breath.

Perhaps apparating had not been the best of ideas.

Watching as Mr. Grim stood up and streched seeing how his body moved, hoping everything she had done would hold as he refused to stay with them any longer. Giving him the paper work and potions he'd need watching as he placed his hands upon her shoulders, looking at him curiously. "You're Welcome, I just hope everything holds you really do need your rest." She said she was then taken aback by the kiss on her cheek bring her hand up to it se watched him leave without another word. Shking her head as she continued on with her day.

Bellatrix had closed her eyes as she thought in the warm afternoon air. The sun gently shining on her face, thinking of what had happened she knew he couldn't be dead, given she could still feel his magical presence, and they were still stuck there. Plus Tom would have found her location if he were dead. Hearing the pop of apperation and an exhale of air Bellatrix jumpedd up and looked around breaking from her thoughts. Seeing Sirius leaning against the wall appearing to be in pain. Bellatrix quickly ran to his side, "Sirius...?" She whispered, "Where the Bloody Hell have you been!?" She demanded having been worried sick. Holding her arms out wanting to try to help him inside. Bellatrix could tell he was hurt, but she didn't know where he was hurt, not wanting to hurt him any further.

"Should have known not to apparate." Sirius grumbled to himself as Bellatrix rushed towards him. He stood up straighter, using the wall for support. "Get me inside and I'll tell you everything, I promise." Sirius did not feel like things had been ripped or torn, but knew he needed to rest. "Living room, not the kitchen. I need the couch."

He motioned her closer and put his weight on her shoulders and let her help him inside to the couch. Once seated and resting, he looked at Bella. "These are for Cissy. With as much help as she's giving me, I'm going to have to start paying her." He handed her the notes, instructions, and potions. "From Poppy Pomfrey. After the battle of Hogsmeade, which was a success, mind you, I ended up at Hogwarts under her tender mercies." Sirius sighed, "I tried to get here yesterday, but neither she nor Dumbledore would allow it. I could have sneaked away, but I thought it better to only have one crazy powerful lord after me."

Sirius had not looked in depth at the paperwork yet. He had no idea how bad or how close to death he had truly been yesterday. Had he known, he might have been a little less cavalier with his life.

Bellatrix carefully and gently wrapped her arms around him, moving her arm to rest over her shoulders, once he rested his weight on her. Bella began to move leading him right to the living room helping him get comfortable on the couch. Kneeling down beside him more so to be eye level and not hover over him. She was looking over him to see if there was any open wounds not knowing if he just crawled out of a ditch or where he was. Looking at what he had for Narcissa seeing that they were medical notes and potions wondering what had happened waiting for him to explain what happened. "I'll make sure she get's them..."

"Pomfrey? The student who graduated early and went to healing school?" She questioned it seemed so quick as the girl was only a year older than Cissy. The oonly reason she knew that was because Narcissa thought about doing the same yhing but knowing her parents wouldn't approve plus she wanted to stay with Lucius. "You ended up in Hogwarts? How did you manage that?"

Nodding he had a point Dumledore could be just as stubborn as Tom Riddle, when he wanted something. Bellatrix sihed, "Well at least your alright..."

"Towards the end of the fight, I was caught by an errant blasting curse." Sirius admitted. "Actually, I'm not even sure where it came from." He frowned deeply, "What I do know is that it blasted me backwards onto a broken post that tore through me pretty severely. Dumbledore found me and took me to the school to heal." Sirius closed his eyes for a moment. The pain of those memories were quick to surface, but he centered himself and forced the memories back into the box where he kept them. Then he kicked it away into the darkest corner of his mind. "Dumbledore knows that you and your sister are with me, but he seems to trust me with your care for some reason." Before Bellatrix could stress over that, he continued, "Do not worry about Dumbledore telling anyone. If anyone can keep a secret, it's that man. And he loves giving second chances, you have nothing to worry about from him."

Bellatrix listened silently, as he explained what had happened. Her eyes widened as he said he was hit with a blasting curse and ended up impaled on a broken post. Bella was grateful that Dumbledore found Sirius as much as she didn't trust him. "I wonder what he wants...Why would he save you? What was he doing there in the first place? How long were you laying there wounded before he found you...?" Bellatrix's mind was turning wondering what the old man was up to. "Obviously you are fighting on his side so ther's already some form of trust, bu there must be somethign he wants seeing as no one knows where we are nor who has us beside Tom and now Albus...I don't trust him..." Bella relpied she didn't trust Albus one bit, but then again she had put her trust in Tom who was appearently leading her to failure.

"You can trust Albus to look out for the good of the common people." Sirius said, "I imagine he was drawn there by the fighting. Hogsmeade is just outside of Hogwarts after all. Though he did take his time getting there."

Sirius groped for a pain potion and opened it before downing half of it in a single swallow. The other half passed his lips just as quick and he visibly relaxed. "If I had to guess about what he wants... Well, he wants an ally that's not afraid to do the dirty work that Albus can't as well as someone who seems to have an inside man in Tom's forces. Especially since Albus's spy hasn't even graduated Hogwarts yet." Something about baby Severus made Sirus chuckle. Perhaps he would reach out to the boy. Get him away from that abusive mother of his. "Albus is getting desperate. You could say I've been a breath of fresh air for him at this point."

Bellatrix rolled her eyes she still didn't trust the man. Nodding her head as he figured the fighting so close to Hogsmeade drew Dumbledore out of the castle to see what was going on. Watching him reach for a pain management potion Bella moved it closer for him to grab. Watching his tense body relax as the potion flowed through him. "Hm...I assume so...his spy?" Bellatrix had no idea to what he was talking about. "I suppose..." Running her fingers through her hair as she sat with him.

"Thank you for helping me get back to the house." Sirius said softly. He reached out and took Bella's hand. "I'm sorry for worrying you like I did. It was not my intention to go out and not come back like I did." He did look quite sorry and just a bit worried. "You should know, if anything happens to me, the magic on this place will fail. You will be able to escape and get to where you need to go to be safe."

Blinking at him, "Oh..um well you're welcome..." She replied besides by her sisters she hadn't been really thanked for anything important before. Looking at him as he took her hand, "Worried? me? I wasn't worried...I knew you'd be back..." Bellatrix said trying to hide it knowing worrying could be a weakness depending on the situation. Seeing how sincere he was in his apology Sighing softly, "Yeah, just don't do it again...or well try not..." She said looking to her lap a moment stillholding onto his hand, thinking how selfish she was to worry about her escape and Narcissa's escape though she had worried for his well being it wasn't her first thoughts and it made her feel guilty but with how she was raised it was rather self centered. "I figured as much since your energy is everywhere I figured if something happened I wouldn't feel it anymore." She admited softly.

Sirius chuckled. "I'll do my best not get myself hurt or worse." It was a bit of a joke but then Sirius turned serious. His eyes softened as he looked at her. "You know, Bellatrix, you really do mean a lot to me. Being in that situation really did drive that home. You really are the only person here who knows me."

"You better..." She teased trying to give a soft smile. Though Bella wasn't physically hurt she was mentally a bit broken her feelings for everyhing always felt forgien to her. Her smile faded softly "I don't see how...? All I've done is been pain in the arse this who...le time...at least Cissy is useful..." She replied softly. "What do you mean? I know you as a 12 year old I'm trying o know you as a 30 something year old..." She smiled softly. Then again she knew what had happened to an extent with him being from the future and who he truly is. Caressing his hand gently as they spoke.

"No, you know me. Adult me." Sirius said softly. He sat up on the couch just a bit. "You have a good idea of who I am and how I think. What I'll do next." Sirius gave her hand a squeeze. "You do know how important you are to me, don't you Bella?"

"I assume I do...in this life time..." She shrugged slightly. Bellatrix went to move to help him as h moved to sit up some. "Well yeah you can be rather reckless, or you're fussing at me for whatever reason depends on the day..." Looking at her hand as he gave it a squeeze. Getting caught off gaurd by his question. "I'm not important...I mean I don't see how...seeing as I've caused damage and have tried to hurt/kill you...even if it wasn't fully me just a variation."

"Bella, you're the only friend I have in this world." Sirius admitted, "The only person who knows any of my true secrets. The only person I trust."

Maybe it was the medicine talking or maybe something else, Sirius did not know, but he felt the need to somehow get closer to his charge. It made no sense if he thought about it, but he was drawn to her.

Looking at him as he claimed she was his only friend, seeing as she knew the truth about him not even Narcissa knew who he really was. Nodding her head slightly he was right, After Hogwarts Bella lost contact with most of her frieends always too busy training and following what Tom wanted. "Um...is there aything you need? You should probably be resting...."

"According to Poppy, yes I should be resting." Sirius agreed. "Of course, I'd still be under her watchful eyes if I actually listened to everything she said. She only let me go because I promised I'd have someone with healer training nearby." Sirius leaned back. "Why don't you go let Narcissa know that I'm back and give her those papers." Sirius suggested. "I'll be okay. You can go back to what you were doing before if you like."
