Evangeline smiled, rubbing her lips together. They tingled from the kiss. The smile turned into a grin and she nodded in agreement. It had been nice.
But then he bit into his sandwich and they had to make the effort of acting normal again. Like it had never happened. She sighed a little, chewing a spoonful of chickpeas as they talked about other things: the case, their lives, their jobs. Normal things. But they both knew they weren't normal people. Evangeline was contemplating kissing Spencer again when he leaned in and kissed her mid-sentence. There was no warning, but she didn't mind. The surprise was nice. She scooted closer to him and tangled her fingers in his hair, groaning gently against his lips. Slowly she backed away, leaning her forehead gently against his.
"Maybe this is moving a little fast," she murmured, looking into his eyes, "but would you like to take this...elsewhere?"
