“Yes.But they’re not here. And james is making sure they’re not at the barn.”Tony said focusing on Steve, “You’re safe here. This is a safe place, and we’re going to make the barn safe again.”Tony reassured. “What....what about...” “James is checking n them. We can’t do anything more.”Tony said watchign alais a little worriedly. Worried how she was doing. “It’ll be easier to use...when you have to use it, we’ll show you how to use it.”Alais said focusing on Tom.

Clint swallowed hard as they moved in, wincing as he saw the horses, wincing a little. “Damn...”he cursed quietly, eyes going wide as he saw them, moving over to Winter, looking over the wound, “....it’s clean...it’ll need doctored, but it’ll be okay I think.”Clint said before watching the others, snorting a little. “Oh yea. I think I’ve very, very glad to not have them wanting to hurt us.”He said not getting to close, trying to make sure they knew they weren’t enemies. “Call Alais. We’re going to need a vet down here.”Natasha said even as she checked the agents, trying to see if any were alive still.

Steve just stared back at Tony, eyes as cold as glinting ice. he didn't attack because Tony was Safe, but he wasn't listening to the other really either. when he was like this, he only listened to Alais and even then he sometimes ignored her unless she told him the danger was over. even then, James had to tell him too or he wouldn't relax and remained tense and in the guard position. "we can show him how to use it now easily enough. the inhalant won't hurt his lungs." Bruce promised, settling in for a lesson. showing all of them how to use the inhaler in case Tom had a really bad one and couldn't use it himself. even Steve learned how to use it. though he refused to let go of Alais' hand while he practiced.

"thank god." James muttered, hesitating before stroking Winters neck. the horse bared his teeth but didn't strike out, he knew that the human could not help smelling like a snake. and his mistress would be upset if he bit the Snake-Human. Jos didn't even bother looking at them, he was pretty sure he was smarter than the man with the stick in his hands by now. he watched, silent and wary while his mistresses herd checked all of the Rattlesnake men. only three where alive enough to question and they where quickly bound and propped against the wall while the others where carried out tot he side building, lined up and covered so Alais wouldn't have to see them. Jos approved of this, his mistress was very sensitive. once they where done James called the place. "hey, we need a Vet down here and a clean up crew." James explained, voice tired as he talked to Tony. "tell Phil we have three still alive, the rest are dead and need to be removed. tell Alais that Winter was shot but that it looks clean and looks like he'll be fine. Joscelin is completely fine, not a scratch on him. looks like he was the one who killed most of Hydra. the Palimino and the, uh, other one whose name i can never remember is dead..." he admitted softly, watching Natasha gently cleaning the bullet wounds on Winter. keeping the bleeding down and the wound clean for the vet, while Clint very carefully pulled large blankets over the horses. James had gently pulled them from their stables. he would let Alais pick a place later and make proper graves for them.

"Yea."clint said setting the weapons down as he took care of the wounds. "thank god. I don't think alais would have recovered if all of them died."clint said sighing a little looking up as james talked to tony.bdammit....I'll have phil send down a cleaning crew, and then we'll be down with the vet."Tony said well aware that even if he tried to go withiut, steve and alais would go to the barn. It was easier just to let them go."need anything else before we come down?"tony asked.

James nodded. "i think she would have been dismayed if Winter or Jos had died period. you know she spends all of her time with them." he admitted. "she spends most of her time with them, something about a connection. he enjoyed the others of course but these two are special. she'll be okay, knowing that Jos is unharmed." he admitted before turning to Ton. "thanks Tony. your the best." he admitted. "we'll wait in the front. 'm not sure Alais should see this." he admitted. "it's... it's a mess. i want to have the blood cleaned up and the bodies gone before she comes in here." he admitted. "we'll bring the horses out to the paddock and she and the Vet can work on Winter there." he decided. "i don't think we do." he admitted. "i'll let you know if we need anything." he promised.

“True. She does.”Tony made a face reassuring Alais that the two were okay, before smiling slightly. “You’re totally right. I’m the best. And we’ll be there soon....and we wont let her see the mess.”He said wincing a little at the idea before hanging up to get ready to go.

“James?Where’s winter? And jos?”Alais said climbing out of the car as soon as she saw james, barely waiting for tony to stop it as she clamored out, rushing towards him. Focusing on the horses, and not what had happened.

"they're in the paddock." James explained. "with Clint and Natasha. Clint's acting bodyguard and Nat's keeping the wound clean." he explained, watching as Shield appeared almost out of nowhere to swarm over everything, cleaning the blood, mucking stables to clean out the blood there. the only thing they weren't allowed to touch where the bodies of the horses laying in the fields, covered in blankets. the Vet had appeared amidst the chaos and was now tending to Winter who was chewing, very content, on the grass that Steve was running out into the field to pull up and then return to Winter to help the 'pretty' feel better. the Vet was confident that the horse would recover completely and without a limp.

“Good. Thanks, James.”Alais said rushing towrads the paddlock, smiling a little as clint and natasha moved away to help shield, looking relieved as she talked to the horses, smiling softly as she watched steve. His being there steadying her more, letting her think clear of her grief as she relaxed. “Thanks, Steve.”She smiled relaxing, smiling as she said goodbye to the vet, moving to the grass with the horses and getting them to lay down, just so she could lay and be with them, needing that closeness, before she could deal with the grief of burying the others. “....What should we do?”Tony looked at james, fidgety and upset, needing to do something, but not sure what.

James nodded, watching her leave before shaking his head. Steve was offering her the grass every other trip so she could feed the pretties too. the horses where happy to lay with her, Winter especially as his leg ached and laying down made it feel a little better. they wouldn't lay for long, it was bad for horses to lay on the ground too much, though they would if they where content and lazy enough. Jos kept lipping at her hair and talking to her about the grass and the sky. typical horse thoughts while Winter jabbered on about how Steve smelled like Apples all the time and how he had let the Snake-man pet him so she had to get him an apple since he had been such a good boy. "we let her be with the horses." James admitted. "and let Steve work his magic. he's always the best at helping her feel better." he admitted, glancing at Tony. "do the horses seam.... off, to you?" he asked. "i've been noticing the last week or so. they seam to be getting... smarter." he admitted. "it's creepy when they look at me, i swear they're hissing 'Snake Man' at me sometimes."

Alaia laughed a little as she listened to them talk, “Just a little laying, promise. You can’t lay long, even if it feels good.”She said smiling as she stroked their necks, lookign amused as she helped steve feed them, making a face as jos lipped at her hair. “Hey, that’s mine, pretty boy.”She said looking down at him, before snickering. “A apple? You’re feeling special aren;t you?”She teased looking up at steve. “You think you could find a apple?”She asked smiling a little. “...That’s it?”Tony said fidgeting before nodding slightly. “They....yes. They seem smarter. And no, I’m sure even if they call you snake man, they aren’t saying it.”

Winter nodded, head bobbing up and down as if agreeing with her. Jos snorted at her, as if completely uncaring that her hair belonged to her. Winter st bobbed his head again at her question. he had done his fair share after all. he'd killed just as many of the Rattlesnake Men as Jos had, AND he'd gotten shot! so that meant he was more special. "Apple?" Steve asked, head cocked to the side before he was on his feet and gone to get some apples for Alais. "i'm pretty sure they only tolerate me now because they're smarter." he admitted. "i now they aren't speaking Tony, they don't have the right kind of vocal cords." he admitted with a roll of his eyes before watching Steve race out into the street, across it and then down the street headed for the grocery store they always passed o the way to the barn. ten minutes later and Steve was back, a full bag in his arms and an irate cashier trying to catch up, yelling that Steve had to pay for those and Steve yelling back 'Pretty! Alais! Apples!' "oh dear god he stole a bag of apples." James groaned, pulling out his wallet and heading off the cashier, explaining that his little brother was brain damaged and offered him a fifty to pay for the troubles caused and the apples.

“You are a special boy. So brave you two. So good.”Alais said sounding amused as he listened to the horses, laying down with them, nodding at steve. “Yes please.Apples.”She smiled. “Well, probably. I mean, they do talk to Alais alot. Makes sense if they’re better able to understand then normal horses.”Tony said thoughtfully before snickering. “Just making sure.”Tony teased smiling a little, eyes widening as he watched steve return. “I don’t think Alais had thought of where he’d get the apples.”he said snickering amused as they reassured the cashier and tried to calm things down. “Hey Steve. Thanks.....”Alais said smiling as he brought the apples over, glancing at the guys, looking worried. Worried that the cashier would still be upset with steve even as she took the apples, and let steve help her feed them.

they both nosed and nuzzled her, aware that she was upset and trying to bury those feelings. "no i think it's more than that." James admitted. "i don't know... i look in their eyes and i feel the same way as i do when i'm looking at a person who doesn't particularly like me. like they're humans." he admitted before snorting at Tony. "no Tony, i'm not going insane." he promised before grimacing at Steve. "yeah, i don't think she did either." he admitted, explaining to the man that some people had come in and killed a few of the horses and that Steve was trying to make the girl who had owned them feel better. the cashier was happy to let it go, realizing who he was talking to. the fifty was a good encouragement as well. with the Cashier gone James relaxed again, not that Steve ever realized that he'd caused a fuss.

“You’re reading to much into it. That can’t be it.”Tony said making a face, looking amused though at the other’s words. “And yes, I’m fairly certain you are. I mean, you want to willingly go on a date with me. Not alot of people want to really do that.”he pointed out tilting his head a little before smiling slightly as steve helped alais feed the horses. “There’s cots here. I mean, the cottage isn’t big, but we could all bed down here, I don’t think she’s going to want to leave them, and I don’t feel great leaving her here alone, even if steve is with her...”he said before sighing quietly, looking at steve. “...Besides. She’s in love, and so is steve...I feel like we should be setting them up....or keeping them apart, cause well, you know, knowing that’ll make her upset...”Tony said worried about his twin, worried about just how bad she was going to handle this on top of falling in love with steve.

he shrugged. "maybe i am. maybe horses just freak me out." he agreed, shaking his head before smiling at Tony a little. "hey. i am extremely attracted to you, and not just physically and i get really, really jealous when Johnny touches you. has to mean something right? not that i would ever keep you away from Johnny. i know how much you two need each other and i like messing with him." he admitted before blinking a little. "yeah, i think that's a good idea, she won't want to leave." he agreed. "she'll probably even sleep in the stables or out in the fields." he admitted. "we could go camping even, i know how much you hate that though." he admitted with a smile. "can't imagine why. no worse than your days on end in the lab. little food, no shower, dirt and grease... oh, right, the wildlife and bugs... that's the part you hate huh?" he asked with a chuckle. "well. she and Steve can camp and i'll make out with you in the cottage hows that sound?" he asked before he snorted. "leave them alone, thy both need to come to understand their feelings on their own. if we interfere we'll ruin it. i'm as emotionally stunted as you are. women don't like the same pickup lines as they did when i was a kid. hell i had to get over the fact that most girls don't wear skirts anymore." he admitted.

“Yea, it means that you need to seek mental help, and that shield should have offered a psychologist to diagnose that your a masochist.”Tony said because he really didn’t understand why anyone would want to be him because he was so damaged. So very damaged. “And you do mess with him. It’s quite amusing really.”He snickered before nodding. “She probably will.”He said relaxing as alais did, steve and the horses relaxing her. “....They get places. They crawl on me jamie! And there’s no plugs for tech, and even if you build a fire, it never works out well, and the tent never works right.”Tony huffed sulking a little.perking up at the other’s words he smirked, “That sounds better then camping.”He agreed before frowning, sulking a little. “yea...but they need help.”He muttered and snickering a little. “Really? Why?Did you like skirts taht much?”He said looking thoughtful and interested in the answer.

James bared his teeth at Tony, eyes glinting with delighted laughter. "oh i already knew i was a masochist." he admitted. "why do you think i was so mouthy at the training facility? i loved to lip off and then get tied tot he posts and flogged." he admitted. "sometimes there's nothing better than being hit so hard everything fades away but the pleasure and the pain." he admitted. "your the same way right?" he asked with a smile. "it's fun fucking with Johnny. especially since when i'm fucking with him he doesn't... think so hard." so, James was picking on Johnny because Johnny being annoyed was better than Johnny being depressed. that was almost sweet. "they do get places." he agreed. "and i've never had a problem with my campfires." he admitted. "and of course there aren't plugs for Tech, your supposed to take battery operated mechanics." he admitted before grinning. "we'll sit around the campfire tonight and tell stories and stuff and then go back to the Cabin." he decided before shaking his head. "they don't need help, not really. Steve just needs to recover enough that she doesn't feel like she's taking advantage of him." he admitted before snorting. "no. i'd just never seen a girl without one before. back in the thirties, women didn't wear pants. well, they did, but not very often." he admitted. "girls back then always had long hair, unless they where kids and had been stuck with chewing gum. they always wore heals, always wore skirts or dresses, they didn't do man jobs and they sure as hell didn't boss a man around..." he shrugged. "took some getting used to. Pepper especially." he admitted with a snort. "you know, she really reminds me of Peggy?"

“Ahhh, you know. That does explain some things.”Tony said snickering a little, whimpering quietly, swallowing hard as he considered being flogged and in that haze of pleasure. “I am.”He said shivering a little. “Hmmm, so we’re double teaming johnny to make sure he doesn’t over think things? That’s quite amusing really.”He said snickering a little. “....You’re weird. And I do use battery tech!It still messes up and the tent doens’t work, and it collapses and don’t do anything.”Tony sulked a little before nodding. “Okay, we can do that. You and Steve can make the fire though.”He decided. “....well. That’s true.”He said watching their twins, glad that they could at least find a way to be together, snickering a little. “Yea, pepper reminds me of aunt peg, it’s quite amusing really.”He agreed flushing a little. “I’m gonna go run to the tower, get food and snacks and such, you need anything while I’m there? You’ll be okay here with them?”

he nodded before looking down at the other. "sorry, i triggered huh?" he asked with a smile. he had looked up everything he could with Jarvis's help. he had coined the name 'trigger' from other 'mental disorders'. when he said he'd 'triggered' he meant he'd set off a submissive response. Johnny had started using it as well, liking the term. Bruce was also using it now, it was a safe way to warn someone in polite company that they needed to leave the party or settle down and change the subject or other things depending on where they where. "i'm not that weird!" James protested, pouting before he smiled. "but yeah, i'm trying to make Johnny feel better." he admitted. "they are adorable aren't they?" he asked with a smile, watching the two horses stand back up, not wanting to lay down anymore, though they where still happily munching any apples Steve managed to feed them despite Alais's protests. too many apples could make the horses sick, though both horses turned down the apples once they where full. certainly not something normal horses would do.

“Hm, yea. It’s okay. I’ll go spend a bit in the lab, make sure everything’s okay, before I come back. I’ll be okay.”Tony promised smiling slightly, before snorting. “You are that weird.”He promised before nodding. “They really are.”He said clapping the other on the shoulder, “I’ll be back.”he promised, and indeed it was nearly dark when Tony returned, clothes, tent, and almost everything you could imagine you’d need on a camping trip in the car. “So. Camping yes?I decided I want to try this tent camping again. Maybe I was doing it wrong.”Tony said, twitching a little even though he was willing to at least consider trying to sleep outside again.

James smiled and nodded. "get Johnny if you think you need it." he ordered with a smile before pouting. "i'm no more weird than you are!" he whined before smiling at Tony. "okay. have fun! make something interesting!" he ordered with a smile before heading out to help Alais and Steve. he stared when Tony returned and hid a smile behind his hand. "alright Tony, we'll give it a go." James agreed, yanking all the stuff out of the car and he had to laugh at the fact that Tony had brought Mattresses instead of sleeping bags.they'd certainly have comfortable camping experience. Steve looked very excited to be sleeping outside. he loved outside. James quickly had the tents set up and a fire going and was showing Steve how to spit a hot dog on a stick and roast it on the fire when he realized the horses had carried off the marshmallow bag. "oi! give those back you thieves!" and this started a game of keep-away between two horses and a snake man.

“Good. We should. I think I was doing something wrong the first time Dad tried to make me camping. So we’re going to do this again.”Tony said looking pleased, even as he knew James was luaghing at him a little. “Hey, Johnny said I’d be grouchy if I slept in a sleeping bag instead of a mattress. So we compromised with air mattresses.”Tony said smiling. “You are such a indoor lab geek.”Alais snickered a little as she settled in to watch james set up everything, sitting in the small camp chair tony had brought, content to watch the boys. “Aren’t you going to help him?”Tony said snickering a little as they watched james try to get the marshmellows back. “Nope. It’s good for him to interact with them, and know that they wont hurt him. They’ll give them back soon.”Alais said smiling a little.

James snorted. "Howard? in the wild? he was worse than you where. he screamed like a little baby girl when he saw an earthworm in his shoe you know. thought it was a deadly baby snake..." he paused. "might have gone better if Steve hadn't told him it was a deadly baby snake though." he admitted with a smirk before snickering. "Johnny's even worse than you are about outdoors." no he wasn't. Johnny was very much a thriller. he loved to hide, hunt, camp, fish, climb mountains, go skiing, hang glide and other things. Johnny was one of those people who spent a month in the deep woods and actually had fun doing it. "Give that back you damn wretched beast! i know you can understand me! i know your smart! give it back and stop CALLING me that!" he paused suddenly, as if baffled by what he'd said and the horses whinnied, as if laughing at him. they had indeed been calling him 'slow snake man'. "..Alais... i think your horses are..." he looked at her. "i think they're becoming psychic!" considering how much magic they had been saturated with thanks to Tom constantly talking to them, that was likely. speaking of Tom, there he was with his own tent and inflatable mattress, wanting to camp too. "you mean horses on earth aren't supposed to be capable of mental communication?" Tom asked, flushing bright red. "oops..."

“He was...it was bad. Mom thought it’d be a bonding thing for us. A father and son trip.”Tony made a face at the idea, before laughing outloud, his eyes wide as he considered that. “That’s awesome. I would have paid money to see him think a earthworm was a deadly snake.”He giggled a little before frowning. “No he’s not. He’s insane. If he could stand to be away from me and the city for long periods of time, he’d totally be one of those insane mountain men that never come down into town for anything but food. He only doesn’t live in the woods, cause well, I don’t. And he enjoys clubbing.”Tony shrugged a little before snickering as he weatched the horses. Eyes widening at the sight of james saying that. “....what?Really?”Alais frowned thinking about it, before tilting her head a little. “Well, you know...They have been sounding more....human like.”Alais said before looking at Tom, laughing out loud. “No, but it’s okay. I’ve been talking to them all the time. It makes things easier for the others, I mean, at least I wont seem so weird when I have a conversation with them.”Alais snickered a little, reassuring the godling that it was okay.

"that could not have ended well." James muttered with a wince before smirking. "shame we can't reach into my head and pull out memories to watch." he admitted with a smile. "it really was really good." he admitted before blinking a little. "really? him of all people? outdoorsy? i don't believe it." he admitted with a chuckle and a shake of his head. "more human?" James wondered. "yes, they are very intelligent. i thought all horses where that way." Tom admitted. "i really am sorry. i didn't mean to... alter them, i thought they where missing it." Tom admitted, looking fretful. "wait, so they where human in intelligence, before you gave them magic?" James asked, Tom nodding. "yes." "huh... well at least they're not biting me anymore." James decided with a smile, snagging the marshmallows from Winter and handing them to Steve who was currently handling four sticks with hot dogs on each one.

“No, it really didn’t.”Tony snorted a little, smiling slightly. “Indeed, that is a shame.”He muttered before snickering, “Yea. He’s seriously outdoorsy, express a opinion on wanting to be more outdoorsy when you’re close to him. You’ll totally be dragged into things.”Tony snickered, looking amused at the idea. “Yes, they’re....smarter from near constant contact with me.”Alais shrugged thinking about it, before smiling at tom. “Don’t worry, tom. I promise, it’s a bad thing.”she said reaching out to gently touch his hair, brushing it back, trying to sooth him. “...True. They’re not biting you. But like Alais said, they were smarter simply by talking to her. Makes sense really.”Tony shrugged trying to make tom feel better, grinning as he watched guys cook marshmellows, shifting to get comfry in his chair, it was od being outside and actually enjoying himself really.
