Seeing Ghosts(Avengers)Moon/Lady

he smiled. "i listed a couple of the good ones too." he pointed out. "there's no one i would rather have by my side." he promised Tony. "your my best friend, my lover. i trust you, i know you'll make everything okay, even if it takes a few years." he admitted, smiling at Tony before nodding, letting himself settle into being The Captain. he started, just like Tony, fighting furiously, taking down people left and right. and when they finally reached James, he wasn't sure if he was relieved or disappointment that he was still on the ice. all in all there where only thirty agents and most of them where scientists, not fighters. they did manage to capture Alexander Pierce and John Garret as well as a specialist named Grant Ward. once everyone was down, Clint and Natasha started tying them all up so they could be arrested by Fury later, after they recovered James.

“...Yea, I guess.”Tony shrugged, so like tony, focus on bad things instead of good. “We’ll be okay.”Tony agreed smiling. “....Leave the specialist.”Tony asked glancing up at the man as natasha and clint tied them up, while he knew it was scientists that could probably help him best, he didn’t trust smart people, and he trusted a specialist to understand that there was only one way to cut a deal, and helping Tony figure out how to move the soldier without killing him, would be a good thing. “Explain this.”He demanded waving a hand at the tube, shuddering a little at the features he could see under ice.

Clint paused from where he'd been about to grab Grant Ward and nodded, leaving him there and going for the cursing violently Garret instead. Grant examined the capsule that held the Soldier and then focused on Tony again before shrugging. "i don't understand any of it myself." Grant admitted. "but they made me memorize a ton of stuff..." he admitted before, obediently, reciting every single thing he had been made to memorize. activation codes, punishment codes, order codes, disabling codes. then he got into the technical stuff. how to start up the cryogenics, how to de-frost the Soldier, how to work the mind wiping machine, how to turn on the metal arm, how to fix the metal arm and more. the entire time Steve's hand was flying across a piece of paper, recording everything the man said while Natasha hacked into Hydra's computers for anything else Grant missed or didn't know. "he's violent when he first wakes up, administering that sedative..." he indicated a I.V bag. "keeps him calm long enough for his programming to kick in." he admitted. "our being oddly cooperative." Grant just shrugged.

“Well, you don’t have to understand it if you can just tell me it.”Tony said settling in, tapping the video feed and having jarvis record everything to go along with steve’s notes just in case they missed anything, frowning slightly as he started defrosting him. Ignoring garret and peirce’s cursing. He might even consider turning the soldier loose on them if they didn’t shut up soon enough. “Taper it off tony, if you give it to him to fast, it will kill him.Or at least, nearly.”Natasha warned as tony started teh IV, moving the iv control to a slow taper, letting the man start to wake up. “....He might not understand what they made him memorize, but even a rat is smart enough to jump ship when it’s going down.”Tony shrugged studying the younger man in amusement, his amusement and laughter hiding just how disquieting he was finding james asleep to be.

Grant nodded. that was very true. so long as they understood that asking him questions was probably pointless. "shut them up." Steve ordered, not looking up from his pad. there where two yelps and then silence when Clint cuffed them over the heads. Grant didn't even twitch. "you should get blankets ready. he's going to have reactions not unlike hypothermia." Grant explained, Clint nodding as he gathered up blankets. "this Rat was never a part of Hydra in the first place." Grant admitted. "it was stupid for Garret to get involved in it." he admitted. "i'm loyal to Garret, not to Hydra." he admitted. "if i cooperate, you might not kill him." Grant admitted simply. well that was new. making a deal for someone else. "....he looks... dead." "he is dead." Grant admitted. "the only thing that's still alive is the tiny electrical uh.. signals? those signals are what brings him back to life once the frost ends. in about..." he paused. "four minutes there will be a violent electrical discharge to kick start those signals. i think that's how it works anyway." Grant admitted. "doctors always use really big words." he admitted, wrinkling his nose, Steve huffing and blinking at James, his head tilted. "find anything Nat?" he asked, watching as the blue started to recede away from James.

“Thanks.”Tony muttered taking the blankets from Clint, before raising a eyebrow as he looked at the younger man. “You are interesting. Cap, can I take him home?”Tony asked, sounding much like a kid wanting to adopt a puppy. Which was exactly what he was doing, he had odd tastes sometimes, but the man intrigued him. “technically is. Much like you were. Though I wonder who figured it out first, that you survived the ice.”Tony frowned as he considered why no one had ever given up, and wondering who was behind that, considering that shield had always joined stark industries in the search for cap, he was wondering just how much hydra had looked for cap. “Doctors like sounding smarter then they are.”Tony snickered a little as he gently eased the front of the tube off and settled the blankets into place. “Some very interesting medical things, some senators who I knew had some very odd friends and very deep pockets and....what he’s been up to since I left the red room.”Natasha said swallowing thickly as she paused looking up to watch james starting to wake up.

Grant looked a bit startled, and then a little baffled, staring at Tony as if he was insane. "he is pretty interesting. sure we can take him home. but he has to wear the collar." he warned. the Collar was something Tony had designed for... troubling inmates. do anything bad, like try to escape or kill the guards, and they'd get a big enough jolt of electricity that they'd collapse. granted, people with heart problems couldn't wear it, but it was a good solution for young inmates who kept attacking the guards. "and you have to take care of him, and clean up after him, i'm not doing it and neither are the others." he warned. "and if he messes in the house your cleaning that up too." "i am house trained you know." Grant said dryly, even if he looked rather amused at being referred to as a puppy. "freaky...." Steve mumbled. "i think Hydra always suspected." Steve admitted. "they must have found him after he fell from the Ice...." he muttered. "so they must have known i was probably alive too." "is it safe to take the lid off?" Clint asked, Grant nodding. "once all the ice is gone, it's safe. just be careful of the electrical discharge, it'll knock you so hard on your ass you'll taste copper and ozone for days." Clint snickered. "speaking from experience?" "yup." he admitted. suddenly there was a very loud crackling sound and James arched, taking in a huge gulp of air while electricity danced over him. he coughed, choked, gasped and shuddered and trembled and jerked, as if they'd just pulled him from a frozen river being drowned. slowly he calmed down, looking dazed and...blank. which was an odd look. "you can remove im completely now but he won't be able to use his legs just yet." Grant warned.

“Don’t look at me like that. I’m not insane, my mother had me tested.”Tony said ignoring the look he was getting. “Fine. I’ll even get name takes and all. I always did want a puppy.”Tony said smirking a little, well aware that he sounded like a kid before laughing out loud. “He’s a adult, he can figure out where the food is all on his own.”he rolled his eyes before nodding. “They had to have...only explantion for this and never giving up on searching. I mean, I had a good reason to keep looking, shield as a government entity, not so much. My private obsession was rooted in Howard’s obsession, theirs was just weird.”Tony shrugged a little, and indeed hydra pushing to keep looking explained why it was never just tony looking. “Yea. It wont kill him now that he’s starting to warm.”Tony said glancing at grant, snickering. “See, my puppy even acts like me. We’re going to cause such problems in the lab.”Tony snickered a little at the idea, wincing as he watched james, swallowing thickly as he helped natasha move teh brunette over to the exam table and settle the blankets around him more, ignoring her as she absently stood next to the table, hovering, not about to point out the utter care and longing in her features. He didn’t want to die after all. “That’s okay. We’re not going anywhere in a hurry.”Tony muttered watching carefully, fascinated and sick all at once.

Clint, Grant and Steve all snorted at that. "Tony. your a genius. all Genii are insane." Steve stated with a roll of his eyes before blinking. "what?" "Genii?" Grant asked. "it's the Plural of Genius." "....really?" "yes." "huh. that's a new one." "no it's not." "it is for me." Grant admitted with a shrug. "i'm not an adult. can't feed myself." Grant said with a smirk. "my nose itches." he admitted, rubbing it on his shoulder because his hands where tied behind his back. "you have a point." Steve agreed. "although i am very, very glad it was you who found me." he admitted with a smile. "i'm not smart enough to be in a lab." Grant warned. "i'm good at grunt work. Fetch is my best skill." Clint snorted. James shuddered and shook, taking in great gulps of air now, but was limp and pliant in their arms. it took a half an hour for his breathing to settle and his body to stop shaking. but all he did was lay there. "...why isn't he doing anything?" Steve asked, anxious and Grant sighed. "oh honestly. he hasn't been given the command code yet." he explained. "right now his brain is empty, they wipe him before they put him on the ice. here. watch. 'Winter Soldier Authorization Code twenty Two, Program Rise ad Shine." Grant stated. James eyes fluttered and then opened and he blinked twice before sitting up, slowly. "Command Codes accepted. Rise and Shine initiated. Program Start.... what is your command?" James asked once he was sitting on the edge of the table properly, eyes blank, voice toneless, but moving. "the longer he stays off ice, the more his old memories and personality will start to come back, but he get's especially volatile when the memories start coming back. unstable." he warned. "he could very well attack you so it's best if you find a method to take him down fast and hard." Grant explained. "a hard shot of tranquilizer or a Tazer on the highest setting tends to work." he admitted. "for now, he just does whatever he's told. certain actions needs specific codes. like if you want him to attack people or kill them, he needs a code for that. if you want him to..." here he paused and looked rather disgusted. "perform sexually he needs a code for that." he admitted. "anything that goes beyond simply obeying, anything that requires that he have a thinking capability, playing games, reading books, planning, plotting, attacking, defending, anything at all. needs a code to kick start the thinking process." he admitted. "certain activities, like reading, bring back old personality traits much faster."

“Are not. And don’t worry, I didn’t know what it was either.”Tony said snickering at grant’s words, smirking a little before huffing a little. “Fine. I’ll make sure he eats.”Tony grumbled before rolling his eyes as grant itched his nose, “You’re smart enough to do what I tell you in the lab....and I’d rather risk your eyebrows then my own.”Tony snickered well aware that steve and pepper would rather him risk someone else’s life and limb rather then his own on some of the things he made. “...”Tony winced, shuddering a little as he watched James waking up, that was so seriously creepy. Even knowing that the man would eventually remember, considering the soldier of the future had known everything, it was still weird seeing him like this. “We are good at unstable. We’ll take care of it.”Tony said already working on what he could do without having to taze teh other man. “....”Tony to look disgusted at the idea of sex like this, after all, it couldn’t even pleasant to have such a robot for a sex partner. “...I want a whole list of things.” “Already got it. It’s all here tony.”Natasha said already downloading the command list, disgusted with all of it.

Steve sighed and rolled his eyes. "so much for that then." he muttered. "well, i'm smart enough to know when to get out of the way at least." Grant admitted. "why don't you build a robot that does all the dangerous parts anyway?" Grant asked, lifting an eyebrow at Tony. "he did. he loves them too much to risk their safety." Steve said dryly, making Clint snicker again before he and Steve both shuddered at James 'coming online' as it where. "we'll do everything we can." he agreed before looking at Natasha. Grant looked pretty sad now. "disgusting. isn't it?" Grant asked, focused on James now. "these people who claim to be men.... they're just... disgusting." he was speaking of Hydra of course. "print everything." Steve ordered. "back it up on those little square things and then we're burning the place to the ground." Steve ordered. "nothing will survive, grab everything we need and we'll take it all back to the Tower." "be careful of the tracking chips." Grant warned. "anything of importance has them. i think The Soldier has one in him too somewhere but i'm not sure."

“....I did not. My bots are perfectly in danger all the time when I do things.”Tony grumbled not about to admit to not putting his bots in danger more then he put himself simply because he loved them to much. “It is.”Natasha swallowed hard, hating that the man she’d known, even if she’d only ever known him as the soldier, was being treated like this. Natasha nodded already printing everything, and turning off the computers, “Burn it tony.”She said after she downloaded everything, looking up at grant. “It’s okay. The suit will jam things for the moment until I can get him back to the lab to undo the chips.”Tony said already pulling off parts of the suit, “Arms out, Soldier.”Tony said settling the gauntlets around the other’s arms, needing the close contact to block the signal for the moment."let's get out of here. this place gives me the creeps."

Steve rolled his eyes at Tony. "you, are in denial my love." he stated simply before swallowing hard as he realized Bucky had been raped, tortured, abused, neglected and tormented for years. "the chip will most likely be in his metal arm." Grant admitted as he let Clint help him to his feet, all the others where gone, taken to Shield for intense questioning. James lifted his arms obediently at Tony's orders, blinking at the metal wrapping around him, looking, for just a brief moment, very curious before it faded into perfect blankness again. "this place gives everyone the creeps." Grant admitted with a shudder and a shake of his head, letting Clint and Steve frog march him out of the place, leaving Tony and Natasha to set the building aflame and make sure nothing at all was left behind. this was another of those 'shield can't be trusted to have this tech' moments. "wait. you're actually taking me to Stark Tower?" Grant asked, sounding incredulous. "what about Garret?!" he demanded, twisting to try and find his mentor and father figure. "i'm sorry Grant. but you can't make a deal for Garret. his crimes against, well, the world, are too extensive." Clint admitted. "the only reason we're giving you a chance is because of your past." "...what's that supposed to mean!?" Grant demanded, no longer as willing to play their games now that he'd realized Garret wasn't going to be given a chance.

“I am not. And don’t call me that. It’s mushy.”Tony muttered blushing a little as he worked. “Oh good. A perfectly good excuse as to look at that arm.”Tony smirked a little even if he had known he’d be able to look at the mechanical arm, he still wanted a excuse to do so, feeling abusive at having no excuse to look into it. “There. Perfect.”Tony smiled raising a eyebrow at the curiousity, but not saying anything as he snickered at grant’s words. Indeed, it gave everyone the creeps. Sighing quietly as they all walked out before looking at grant as he realized teh man was freaking out. “You were a fourteen year old abuse victim, taken in by a psychopath. Allowances are being made for you because of it.”

Steve smirk. "alright Darling." he agreed. "Tony, you'd have to look at the arm anyway. the tech is crap and it's been frozen for god knows how long. it's probably painful too knowing Hydra." Steve admitted. "fuck that! i wasn't abused and he's not a psychopath! let me go!" he demanded, struggling rather pathetically against Steve and Clint. as if he could ever pull free of those two. "i have to be with Garret! we promised! let me GO!" "no." Steve stated firmly. "you never had a chance until now. and your getting one whether you want one or not." he stated simply. "if, you still feel the same in a year, then you can join Garret in prison." Grant paused, thinking that through before nodding and stopped his futile struggles, walking with his head hung, ashamed that he was just abandoning Garret. but what other choice was there? James just followed them, eyes tracking anything that seamed to catch his interest. he actually stopped and stared at a butterfly for three minutes and only stopped because he went to follow it and Steve dragged him back on track. "oh. right. i forgot about that. without any command codes he's kinda..." "like an infant?" "yeah." Grant admitted, watching Clint read over Natasha's shoulder.

“...”Tony twitched, glaring at the other man, but not protesting, half afraid of what he’d come up with next. “...True.”Tony said perking up at the idea that he had a perfectly good reason to be digging around in the arm and not simply his own curiosity. “...You were, and he is. Stop.”Tony said rolling his eyes as grant struggled, before nodding. “Good. Now get in the car like a normal person.”He said smiling as he headed for the car, studying james as they walked, “More like a toddler. We’ll have to get a bracelet for him, just in case he does wander off without someone.”Natasha said as she read as tony drove, smiling slightly as she sat next to james, amused as she watched the other stare out the window as they drove.

Steve smiled ever so sweetly at Tony. he had to hand it to the man, he learned fast. "i wasn't and he's not!" Grant snarled back, even if he ceased his struggles. "just because my family didn't like me, didn't mean i was abused." he huffed. "and Garret isn't a psychopath! he's the closest thing to a father i've ever had!" he growled, not about to stand for someone bad talking Garret. "i'm not a normal person." Grant huffed even as he settled into the car, scowling at his feet. "toddler, infant, what's the difference?" Grant asked, honestly a bit puzzled by the differentiation. "yeah a bracelet would be a good idea. we should get someone to keep an eye on him too. like a handler.... Natasha? you wanna be his handler?" Steve asked, glancing at her. Grant just sighed and looked out his own window. it felt weird to be going to somewhere without Garrets orders. he wasn't even sure if he should be adopting a different personality or not.....

“My family didn’t like me, and I’ll be the first to admit my father was a psychopath. Just cause he’s a father figure, doesn’t mean he’s not fucking insane.”Tony rolled his eyes a little, needling the hydra agent simply because he was interested in the man. “Toddler is liable to get themselves hurt because they’re wandering off to find something interesting, a baby just lays there and shits themselves.”natasha said not looking up from what she was reading before nodding. “please.”She said glancing up at james, trying to figure out if the man had recognized her or not, but willing to go with it. Glancing at grant after a moment. “We should give grant one to.”

Grant just huffed and glared out the window, very unhappy that he couldn't be with Garret and that Tony was picking on the man. he ignored the explanation too, he didn't care anymore. they could try to keep him from Garret but it wouldn't work. "he is a bit like a toddler." Steve admitted, looking a bit curious himself now. "i thought i was getting a collar." "it's not exactly a collar." Steve admitted. "it's a anklet really. it discharges a pretty hefty jolt when volatile inmates try to attack a guard or escape. but if you promise not to attack us or run away, i think we can leave it with a tracking bracelet." "...i promise not to attack you or try to run away." of course, if he decided to run away he wouldn't 'try', he'd just do it. still, Tony was fascinating, and he felt really bad for poor James. he wanted to be there to help the man. James suddenly jerked and pointed and Steve started laughing. it was a White Castle. "he still has a couple of his memories at the very least. me and James made ourselves sick after a White Castle moved into New York. it was the very first fast food restaurant ever you know." Steve admitted, glancing at James who had settled back to staring at everything now that the restaurant was out of sight.

“You are, but if it’s the electric collar, it sends to much of a voltage through it to have a tracker in it to.You’d get two different ones.”Natasha said shrugging a little studying grant, before shaking her head. “Don’t trust him. He’s to eager to get back to Garret. Just collar him and be done with it.”The black widow said shrugging as tony glanced at her. “As you wish, mistress.” “Tony, I will smack you, don’t think I wont.”Natasha warned with a slight smile as they drove, snickering as james pointed. “That’s amusing. I can just see you two eating till you were sick.”Tony snickered as he smiled, wincing a little as they got to the tower. Not looking forward to getting everyone settled, but knowing it was going to happen, even if it caused problems or such.

Grant shrugged. "i'm sure Tony will think of something." he admitted, looking back out the window. "of course i'm eager to get back to Garret. he's my Father. the only man whose ever cared bout me." he admitted. "but i have a duty to James as well." he admitted. "it disgusts me, what those people where capable of. i need to stay, to make sure i'm not just sending him into an even worse situation." he admitted. Clint wrinkled his nose and Steve shook his head. no one said anything though, if anyone had a right to be bitter about other humans it was James and Grant. Grant who had never so much as gotten an honest hug in his entire life. Grant who had only latched onto Garret because he didn't hurt him, ignore him, spit at him or call him names. "no smacking." Clint ordered, poking at his own Tablet with the USB attached to it. "this is a hell of a list of Hydra insurgents. Fury will be pretty happy." he admitted. "we did. before that it was only fair food. and we could rarely afford to go to the fair. but we found a five dollar bill on the street, and we went in and bought as many hamburgers as we would and saved some for my mom and then ate ourselves sick." he admitted. we never regretted it, especially when my Ma did the exact same thing when we took her share to her." he admitted with a grin. "Natasha, Clint, you get James settled, me and Tony will take Grant." Steve decided once they where in the tower.

“I’m always thinking of things. Like right now, I’m totally going to use you to test out the new body armor I’ve been working on. It’ll be great.”Tony said with that slight mad genius thing going on, but it was obvious he wasn’t aware of it, he really was just that excited to be making things that he couldn’t focus on one thing. “Honorable, good for you.”Natasha said, tilting her head. Though the words could be taken condensending, it was obvious from the tone she was approving. “We should. Sometimes he deserves it.”Natasha pointed out as she nodded looking over the files.”Fury will indeed be glad for it.” “...That’s awesome.”Tony snickered at the idea of them eating themselves sick before looking at grant. “let’s go then.” “We’ll get him settled.”Natasha said smiling a little as they gently guided the brunette super soldier towards his rooms, trying not to worry to much even if she was scared

Grant snorted and smiled just a little. he was honestly rather curious about how Tony worked. he'd seen Squints working away and they where always fascinating to watch. honestly he liked helping them, even if he'd never finished the seventh grade, even then, being Dyslexic, ADHD and having Dyscalculia made learning nearly impossible. he could barely read, he couldn't do anything beyond simple math and only extreme training in the woods after being abandoned there to fend for himself, and after for Hydra and Shield training taught him how to hold still, unnaturally so, sometimes for hours on end. still, despite the learning disorders he was clever, quick, had extreme motor control and had excellent hand to eye coordination and extreme Stamina thanks to his intense training. despite being barely learned, he loved to watch people make smart things. "i was always honorable. someone in my family had to be." he admitted softly. "besides, how could i abandon someone who makes me think of myself?" he wondered before wincing. he hadn't meant to say that aloud. "no smacking, he'll whine for days and i don't want to listen to it." Clint pointed out. "yeah... fine." Grant grumbled as he let them lead him inside, hands still tied behind his back. he could have slipped them easily enough if he really wanted to, to be honest. James just followed Natasha like a blank little puppy before he stopped, staring at a picture on the wall, his head tilted. it was brightly colored, just splashes of paint really. Pepper's idea of Art. he stared, almost transfixed. "he seams to like bright colors." Clint used. "we might be able to use that. sort of a color therapy to make him feel better or something."

“....You’ll be okay here, you know. Despite what hydra thinks of us, we’re fairly loyal to each other.”natasha muttered, worried about how the man would be here, worried about leaving tony with him, even though she trusted that steve wouldn’t be leaving tony alone. She knew the billionaire, knew that grant ward would hit on every emotional and mental issue that tony had, ripping scars open. She just hoped he could handle it. “I would not.” “you would to. Don’t deny it.”Natasha said rolling her eyes at the billionaire as they left with james. “...He does. We might consider repainting his rooms, making them brighter.... Getting more art to.”natasha mused.

“...Here.Sit.”Tony said as they entered the lab, undoing grant’s hands as he settled at the workbench to start working. Though he’d already done the collar for prisons and such, he wanted to refine it some to put on the other man.

Grant snorted. "yes, Loyal to your own. but James and i aren't of you, now are we?" he demanded before refusing to speak again. it was only for a year, and then he could be with Garret again. "you would." Steve admitted, grinning at Tony. "but we love you anyway." he promised before watching Grant closely as he was sat down and the hand ties removed. Grant looked around, curious again despite himself before watching Tony work, his head tilted. "that's the collar?" he asked, honestly surprised. he had expected some monstrosity, or something that actually looked like a collar. something painful, or humiliating. something shaming.

"we should repaint his room." Clint agreed. "we could even get him to help." he admitted, gently pulling James back on track and into the luxurious rooms that Tony had set up for the man once he realized James was still alive. "are you going to be okay? i know he trained you..." Clint admitted, looking worried about Natasha. "will he bring up bad memories?"
