What game are you playing now?

I really just don't see a point in responding to that person anymore, especially when they go so far as to flat out fabricate a complaint that wasn't even mentioned here, to have a reason to keep complaining.
So, Melethron, how is Corpse Party? I've been meaning to try it out, but I know very little about the game, honestly, other than it just looks pretty cool.

Very enjoyable. Its not the first game of its type I've played. RPGMaker horror games are now much more common. But Corpse Party is actually one of the first RPGMaker horror titles created, with the original becoming available in Japan in...1996 I believe. Sadly it does have a few gameplay anachronisms left over from its RPGMaker days. Death traps are common, and its not always clear what the game wants from you. I recall one series of events I had gone back to and deliberately did out of order at the start of the game. Upon completion I was instantly killed by a trio of malicious spirits. The chain of events was the same, only with a single action taken out of order being the difference between my character living and dying.

But the game has a number of brutal and unique death scenes to cushion any frustrations you might have. And most major hazards have some kind of advance warning, so the game isn't simply preparing you for failure. Corpse Party has a palpable sense of atmosphere as well. I found myself thinking of Heavenly Host hours after putting the title down. If you enjoy Japanese Horror or high school themed horror stories, I would recommend it. The Back to School overhaul came out last October for 3DS and Steam, so now could well be the time to take a look.

I've honestly been playing a lot of grand strategy games lately, so nothing like Mass Effect or Persona 5 like all the cool kids are doing.

I'm a massive nerd and am playing Europa Universalis 4 and Civ 5 as well as Hearts of Iron 4 and the like.

I'm sure no-one on here plays those games, but enjoy watching the Mass Effect lets plays on twitch or on YouTube.

Lemme just stop you there, cause I do. EU 4, CK 2, Darkest Hour. I may not be that good at them, but they can provide some good fun, and it's interesting to see how things turn out (Like that EU 4 game where the AI destroyed France and then resurrected it as a one province minor in South America)

Alright.
So that makes me feel better haha. I loovvveeee EU4. I'm coming up on 200 hours in game...and got the game a month and a half ago.

I've not played or bought ck2 yet, but it may be on the radar in the near future... we'll have to see

I've always wanted to sink my teeth into a good grand strategy game, but it always seems hard to pick a solid one to start with.

There's honestly way too many out there to recommend a good single one, thought EU4 or any Paradox game have to be up there on any list that you could look up.

The civilization series is also a plus to recommend as well because it's more of a more laid back style game. I'd love to know if you ever decide to 'sink your teeth' into one though!

Endless legend is a other good one for a 4x game

I can't say that I've ever heard of that one, but I'll have to look it up and research it.

I've played civ and I love endless legend but those are 4x games, not gsg as I understand the latter to be.

I have Endless Legend. Another pretty fun game, though another that I'm also not that good at yet. It's quite the different beast from your average 4X game.

I've always found it amazing how long it takes just to get good at it.

I have 150 hours in Civ 5 and almost 200 in EU4, but I still consider myself absolutely horrible at understanding the game and its main mechanics.

I would say that EU 4 or CK 2 are the easiest to get into. Hearts of Iron is very focused on warfare and boring otherwise. Meanwhile Vicky 2 has an in depth economic system that can be pretty daunting. The others are easier to get into.

See... Yea... EU4 Is easy to get into and have a basic understanding, but there's so so much more beyond it than just the base game with all the DLC and everything that they've put out since they've released the game. I never played CK2, like I said... and I completely forgot about Vicky 2, and the main people I follow who play paradox games have very rarely ever played Vicky 2, though I agree wholeheartedly about the HOI4 gameplay, which is why I think I can't get into it much.

Having more to learn makes it fun, and you could say the same thing about CK 2. The difference between them is that CK 2 is more personal because you play as a person in a dynasty, while EU 4 is more broadly focused because you play as a country. It's a difference of scope between them, and EU 4 is more traditional while CK 2 is a more role-playing type of experience.

From the gameplay that I've seen, I'd have to agree, and there's certainly a want for the more 'personal' aspect to the idea of the gameplay versus the aspect of the type of gameplay you get with games like EU4... but to each his own I guess. When I get some more money and it goes on sale next, I might consider finally biting the bullet on that.
