School Rumble (Broom and I)

"As long as Mei is okay with it," Komoku said with a grin, letting her hand slip along her shoulder as Jana grinned at Mei. Oh, he was smooth as an oil slick, wasn't he?

"Okay with what, exactly?" Mei growled, as she finished her food. At least she didn't pull away from his arm. "My mom says she can help you with your injuries, why wouldn't I be okay with that?"

"Cuz' you don't like other eyes on me," Komoku smirked, tugging her closer by her collar to kiss her cheek. "But that's okay, I don't mind. I know better." and when she got all angry and possessive, it was pretty hot. Especially if she got violent, ooh...maybe he should stoke that fire a little...

A squeak came from Mei when he pulled her by the collar, and she could all the attention go that new little accessory she had. "I know you know better..." She mumbled, not really enjoying this little public display of affection but still not pulling away.

"That's a really cute necklace you gave my daughter." Megumi complimented, that foxy look never leaving her eyes.

"You like it?" Komoku mused. "I wanted something elegant, like her...but simple. Something that people wouldn't appreciate until they really saw it up close, kinda like her."

Jana arched a brow at that, glancing to Masami as she grinned and shrugged. Komoku had that weird kind of charm sometimes, he just said shit off the top of his head.

Mei could feel her heart racing when he said that. She wasn't quite sure how to take it, really. But she knew this was the reason why she fell for him. He was honest. Everything he did..she knew that it was all genuine.

"Aww." Megumi purred as she regarded them both. "That's just adorable. I think you did a great job. Mei, did you thank him properly?"

"Of course I did," Mei answered stiffly as she shifted closer to him, ignoring her burning cheeks. "It's nice. I think it's the first gift I've ever gotten from someone other than you and dad."

"Yeah? Well, I'm not the best at giving gifts, I just try to find things that match the person," Komoku mused. "I got lucky, really. Mei's kinda easy to give gifts for, because she always appreciates it, you know?"

"Aw, he's such a sweetheart," Jana smiled. "I'm jealous!"

"You'll find a nice guy eventually, Jana...One that's right for you." Mei shyly responded as she pushed her plate forward just a bit and folded her hands in her lap. Maybe if she pushed the attention to someone else, they would stop talking about them.

"I agree. You're a pretty girl, Jana. You're all pretty girls. Why, back in my day.." Megumi started, but the cut herself off as her grin grew larger. "Well...you're pretty girls. I'll leave it at that."

"Ugh, don't you even start," Mel said, yanking on Megumi's hair with a grimace. "They don't need to know about that kind of thing!" Jana felt it was best to just...leave that alone, to say the least. She didn't quite know where Megumi was going with that, but a casual glance at Masami made her realize exactly where it went.

...Woo boy, Mei's Mom was something else.

"Yeah!" Komoku said, a lazy arm around Mei. "Assumin' anyone is worth your time, anyway."

"Well, thanks, you two. I might ignore all of your gross PDA then." Jana grinned, making Komoku smirk.

"You mean a work of art," he sniffed. "Thank you very much."

"Mel!" Megumi groaned as she rubbed her head. "Don't do that in front of the kids, you know what happens when you yank my hair..." She whispered hastily.

Mei didn't know what her mom said, but she wasn't going to ask. In fact, she wasn't going to say anything. She wasn't sure if she could take anymore between Komoku, Jana, and her mother.

"Then behave," Mel smirked. "Besides, Mei didn't want to hear those stories, she wanted to hear the ones about us kicking ass, remember?"

"Really?" Jana said, brow arched curiously. Well, she had never heard much about what her Mom did as a kid...

"Then you go first, I'm still eating...These dumplings are really, really good. I'm going to have to eat some more of your cooking, Komoku. If Mei eats it, it has to be good." Her daughter was such a picky eater sometimes...

"Be happy to make more," Komoku sniffed. Masami rolled her eyes. He always got a fat head about his admittedly delicious cooking.

"Hm," Mel mused, elbow resting on the table. "What do you want to hear, girls? How about the time we cleared out that Yakuza gang from selling bootleg porn? Or when one of Mel's suitors decided to get a little possessive?"

"I can't eat anymore, but later." Megumi winked at Komoku and then looked at Mei. "Which one, Mei?"

"I don't want to hear anything that has to do with bootleg porn, so the second one sounds good." Mei answered as she rested her head against Komoku.

"It wasn't like we were in it," Mel said dryly. "Sheesh, you wouldn't last a day in Red, girl."

"She's a different breed," Jana smiled. "But I think she'd do okay...things just work different where she was raised. Probably for the better."

"I think that Mei would be fine in red now, personally. Now that she's had a bit of exposure to what realer people are like. She just likes to continue pretending to be the innocent girl that her father raised her to be." Megumi said as she began to collect the dishes, ignoring Mei's seething glare. "Go ahead and tell her about the possessive guy, Mel."

"Right," Mel grinned a little. Mei had a bit of a chip on her shoulder, didn't she? "Well, back when Megumi was starting to get popular, people were starting to realize she was attractive. Since she was from Blue, she had all kinds of interesting people knocking on her door. One of which was a guy named...uh..." she said, eyes flicking upward a moment to recall. "I called him Steven, I think...Dad was some kind of media mogul or something, ran the Turuga Times? Anyway..." she waved it off. "He sent her flowers, she turned them down, he visited himself...turned him down...I think that's when he sent his people."

"Sounds about right," Megumi began as she started walking away. "Can barely remember...that was ages ago, and they were all hardly worth remembering."

"What did he send his people to her for?" Mei asked as she took a little bit of interest in the story. It didn't seem like she had heard this one.

"Why do you think?" Mel smirked. "They were going to take her,"

"You're kidding," Jana said with an arch of her brow. "Didn't you say Megumi was like..."

"Crazy strong? Oh yeah," Mel waved it off. "People were scared shitless of her, but this guy just wanted to talk to her." Mel shrugged. "So they tried to force their way into our place and take her, that went about as well as you'd expect, so it was a fun little diversion." she grinned. "I think they were a little stunned that they got their asses kicked by two girls who had just gotten out of the shower, though. Usually that's a vulnerable point for some people, but I guess Mei and I were always ready to punch something at a moment's notice."

Mei could only grimace at the thought of being ambushed while she was in the shower, but..she pushed the thought out of her mind. She doubted anyone would ever try anything like that with her. "Serves them right. What happened then? Kidnapping is a very serious offense, did you manage to find the guy and lock him up?" Best ending to any story about crooks, at least in Mei's opinion.

"What?" Mel snorted. "Are you kidding? Hell no, we went to his place and beat the shit out of him. Turns out though, he was a bit of a fighter," Mel sighed. "And he had a lot of help...he spouted some crap about how Megumi was tainting her heritage by hanging around some ghetto rats like me, I wasn't paying much attention."

"He wasn't that impressive." Megumi answered as she joined them once more. "For all his shit talk about Mel, he was pretty ratty himself. If it was just him against one of us, he wouldn't have lasted a minute."

"So what..you just defeated them all and didn't even bring one of them to justice? Sure he stopped messing with you two but what if he decided to do it to some other girl?"

"You don't do something that beats you into an inch of your life," Jana murmured faintly. "People remember stuff like that, Mei...fear is a better motivator than hauling them away, there's nothing scary about jail. You just go in, and get out. Someone telling you not to do it again, and what would happen? They remember it."

"They do," Mel purred. "I keep tabs on him...he behaves, I like to make sure he sees me since I've been back, it's fun watching him squirm."

"Why are you acting like you can't do both?" Mei grumbled though her voice faded off.

"No need, waste of resources. Beating them up was punishment enough, Mei. Don't you think jail would be overkill when they spent weeks in the hospital recovering?" Megumi asked after she wandered back into the dining room.

"No. If they try to hurt you, you hurt them and then deliver the final punishment to reinforce the beating." Mei growled as she crossed her arms. Of course there were exceptions, like Blake for example. But that wasn't the point.

"Sweetheart, some things are just better done without an official stamp to end it," Komoku grinned, pulling her closer to kiss her cheek. "I like the authority though...gets me hard," he said, thankfully...that last part was a little quieter, but Jana's amused smirk pretty much told the story that she knew.
