"Spread the blood of Fu Leng" the elder's voice echoed in Haruo's head. "A baby in the belly of each Great Clan's daughter"

The task was not simple. Impregnating a member of a great clan outside of wedlock is considered to be a great offense, one that might instigate war, and the spider is already under much scrutiny. The elders, however, believed that young Haruo is the right person for the job, and so they sent him forth to weave a web that will one day bring the empire under the control of Fu Leng's scions.

His journey took him to the village by the sea, one called the Seagull's grave for the inhabitant captures the birds for food. Here, boats can take him to many parts of the empire. One of the ship bears the mon of the mantis, making it stand out from the rest of the unmarked vessels. Nearby, he can see a tavern filled with a crowd, and by the ocean, Haruo can see people around a bonfire.
 
Haruo looks about Seagull's Grave, disguised as a decently well-to-do traveller at the moment. A tea shop, Inn, or somewhere else with information was his current goal. He took notice of the Mantis ship, since it was one he hoped to get aboard. Even if the elders only mentioned the Great Clans, there was nothing wrong with spreading amongst the lesser as well.

The people of the small harbor city was friendly enough. They showed Haruo around the small town, letting him know where everything was, though that was not saying much since there isn't many places of interest other than the Inn 'Friend from the west'. He found out that there are ships heading to the land of the crane soon, which he can board for a mere 4 gold coins.

The mantis ship, on the other hand, is a trading vessel owned by lord Yoritomo Hanji, a man looking for pearls to present to his sister as a wedding gift,
 
Haruo thanks those that aided him, and then quietly takes a look around. Pearls he didn't have, and he didn't particularly care to go diving for them. However, a talent for sneaking into places he shouldn't be, and finding out unwanted things was. So a trip aboard Lord Yoritomo's ship before it left the harbor was certainly worth a shot. And since he was disguised as an average person, it didn't matter too much if he was seen, so long as he didn't get caught.

It was easy for the spider to sneak on board and even blend in with the crowd. From his time amongst the Sailor, he found out that Lady Yoritomo Akagi, sister of the captain, was marrying a Crab Lord. She was the most beautiful woman of the mantis and considered to be one of Rokugan's great beauties.

When the ship landed on the harbor of the Mantis capital, Haruo would see her for himself in the distance, being greeted by her brother.

"Don't even dream about her" One of the sailors chuckled. "We are not meant for such noble beauty"
 
Haruo nods agreeably, even if he silently disagrees. Such a woman was precisely what he was after. Haruo then calmly left the ship with the others, before switching disguises again. Once more a well-to-do traveller, Haruo took his time to explore the city, learning as much as he could about the area, particularly where Lady Akagi was staying.

Once he had done that, Haruo explored that area as much as a traveller could without getting in trouble, learning about guards, the buildings, and any other defenses, before taking a chance to explore by less honorable means.

The mantis were the major naval power in the region,and their alliance with the crabs will secure their military dominance over the region for a long time.This, was the main purpose of the wedding, which is of course the norm in Rokugani culture. Lady Akagi did it out of duty, not passion. She never even met the crab lord she was going to marry.

Her trip will be undertaken in a vessel, escorted by a few smaller ones. Once she lands, she will be taken to Crab territory by a palanquin and a small escort.
 
Haruo takes a moment to gather himself, and plot out what he planned to do. First, he'd have to learn when the wedding was to take place, and when she'd leave. Second, he'd need to find out if Lady Akagi was a virgin or not. If she was, then things might be a little trickier. He'd have to wait until after the wedding to take her, and he'd have to make sure she wasn't fertile while she was with her husband. Of course, if her new husband was one of those that guarded the border against the Shadowlands, then he wouldn't have to be too patient. On the bright side, such a wedding would allow him to find more women to breed. The last part was coming up with a valid way to enter the grounds on a regular basis. While he could sneak in with ease, it wouldn't be as easy to make Lady Akagi _want_ him. Which was the goal, for her to willingly desire his seed.

At the moment though, he felt the urge to have a woman, and Lady Akagi could wait. She'd be more satisfying, and if the chance came up that she wanted a mysterious stranger in the dark, then great. But he'd look for easier prey to settle his urges tonight.

Haruo took the time to scout at the various rooms and people of the (castle?) Lady Akagi was currently staying out, from servants to fellow nobles. When no one was around, he ruffled through their things, looking for diaries, journals, and other incriminating evidence. He also listened to any gossip he overheard, in case there were any clues in the conversations.

Haruo was able to slip past the guards, roaming inside the castle undetected. He'd find the room where lady Akagi is preparing for her trip, a Geisha brushing her long silky hair from behind.

'Now there is an opening', Haruo thought to himself. Perhaps if he got the Geisha's services at the Swan Palance, and impressed her, perhaps he could have her introduce him to Lady Akagi? And the Lady was interested in more than her lord, it seems. So it should be possible to seduce her with relative ease. Not his exact preference, since he preferred strong women, but certainly desirable none the less.

Haruo stayed around for a bit, wanting more information on his goal, but when the Geisha left or it became too dangerous to stick around, he left, looking for the Swan Palace. He then kept an eye out for the Geisha. Getting his urge for the day satisfied and getting closer to his goal was an ideal solution.
 
It was easy to find the Swan Palace, seeing as it was the only place of culture and refinement amidst the rough and tumble mantis city. The inn, located next to a lake which earned it its moniker, was quiet and serene, with the occasional scream of pleasure ripping through the air. It does not have many customers due to its high price, far too expensive for a commoner.

As Haruo found the place, he was greeted by the owner, a woman whose vulgar way of dressing marks her as the house's leader. "Welcome" she said in a voice like velvet. "I am Kurenai, the proprietor of this place. Did you come for a specific girl?..Or perhaps, girls?" she asked with a sly smile, her every move an art of seduction.
 
Haruo smiled politely and inquisitively. "I was looking about town, scouting it as a possibly location to sell some exotic spices, when I saw a charming lady amongst those entering the castle. I wonder if it's possible to have her services for the night?" He asked curiously. "Though if she is not available, I certainly would not mind another of your lovely ladies, or even yourself, if you deign to." Haruo ended smoothly.

It wasn't even a lie, since he did carry and even occasionally sold spices, though that was just a cover for his mission, clothes, and relative wealth. Haruo also didn't mind if the Geisha friend of Lady Akagi wasn't available. While he'd prefer to kill two birds with one stone, settling his urges mattered more at the moment. The mission could wait, and he'd been stuck on a ship with no way to satisfy his desires.

Plus, a woman who ran her own establishment was strong, and Kurenai's exotic looks only made her more desirable in his eyes. Taking her would be more pleasurable than claiming Lady Akagi, who so far only had beauty to her.
