Brother Prince Tristane. How he died: "The hunting party had separated. Tristane liked his solitude too... Maybe it's a family trait." The ghost of a smile flicked across her wine-stained lips. "He had left with three guards, young men that he had grown up with. The guards went off together, and my brother made his own path, alone. Blood--" Her voice seemed to give out, the terrible memories coming back to her. "Blood was found at the bottom of a cliff, and some of my brother's belongings. But his b-" She swallowed thickly. "His body and that of a guard were never recovered. Sir Roark. His effects were with my brother's, scattered like some wild animal had gotten ahold of them. But I don't know. I don't know."
Here is my 'in my head' idea of the structure.
They spend a day or two together, irritating each other and also playing mind games
The suitors begin to trickle in for the ball
They come up with four main contenders (because I can't keep track of too many more)
Maybe one of them tries to kill the princess?
Her father continues to push for a decision
....and seduction attempts are made
Traeble begins to realize that he doesn't want her to marry any of the suitors.
But it's very loose and unstructured. Any ideas you want to toss in the punchbowl?
That's roughly what I was thinking. Maybe only 3 main suitors, unless you're set on four. There can be a few more that we don't really pick up or focus on.
One thing, though... Maybe one doesn't try to kill Seraphina... At least, not yet. It would make much more sense to try to marry her first. Maybe he plans to blame her murder on another country and use that to start a war (can you tell I love Princess Bride? Wink ) but maybe Traeble discovers it before it comes to that. But maybe before he does, he thought that suitor was the right one and tried to usher her into that marriage?
Three is even better!
Oh and I think we talked about a suitor who had a son about her age. What if the son is somewhat desirable? Maybe very desirable?
That's... inconceivable. Big Grin I LOVE the murderous idea. Let's do it!
I love that idea too! Let's be ambitious and do both. Sleepy
