Serenity tilted her head, still not quite convinced. "Are you sure, Lightning? Even with my profiling ability, what if something goes wrong and I can't prevent myself from attempting to kill an unsub?" She started pacing. "What if Strauss wasn't just a one time thing? What if I start judging every unsub as being unworthy to live any longer?" It was obvious that she was overthinking and was starting to panic as a result. "What...what if there comes a time where it's just me against an unsub and the rest of the team isn't quick enough to catch up and I just kill the unsub rather than letting them face justice no matter what the crime?"
"Don't have to tell me twice." Spencer snorted. "Play along and let me handle them." He spoke still in his native tongue as his eyes continued to scan a little longer for Lila in the crowd, unable to find her. He sighed and turned back to the press, clearing his throat. "I'm afraid, ladies and gentlemen, that your sources are mistaken. Lila and I were never an item. In fact, she strung me along during that case in attempts to get me to be lenient with her against the better judgement of my team." Spencer purposely let his voice break and even closed his eyes as if it was painful to even speak. "Not once afterward, did she try to contact me nor return my attempts to keep in touch. So I sat heartbroken and continued my job at the FBI, doing my best to hold together the pieces."
