In the large city of London where technology was all powered by steam yet held the elegance of the victorian era, lived many who knew nothing of what was truly going on all around them. As at this very time a series of murders were happening that looked as though they were done by a vampire, yet it was far too obvious. The bite marks on the neck and the lack of blood, did point to a possible vampire. All the murders had been done in the lower district, which meant it was no real bother to those of the aristocracy. Who even at this very moment happened to be holding a Masquerade ball at the Duke's estate in the heart of the bustling city.
Everyone was dressed in their finest gowns with masks only cover the eyes, yet keeping that hint of mystery to each guest. One in particular was Countess Rowena Flagherty Wallace, wearing a lovely dark blue gown that flowed out from her body. It even had black lace as an overlay with only straps hanging off the shoulder, showing off her elegant neckline and ample cleavage. The waist was perfectly molded to her body, showing that she didn't even have on a corset as it was obvious she didn't need one. Her beautiful silver hair was up into a bun high atop her head, with strands of hair falling around her face. Where her dark blue mask with a peacock feather protruding from the right side, sat atop her face held on by a thin strap around the back of her head, it even held a swirling design along the front, over and under the eyes. Such beautiful china colored eyes that seemed to have a vast amount of knowledge that didn't fit how young she looked. Everything about the Countess said she was in her young twenties and yet no one knew who or what she really was. She truly was a mystery.
The ball was decked out with flowers of every kind in every corner, the beautiful crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling, and the tables brimming with both food and wine. The room was filled with practically everyone all decked out in ball gowns of varying colors and styles. Yet the masks were so very individualized, no one was alike. It seemed a perfect celebration as everyone had a smile upon their faces.
