Carly had been sitting in history class when it happened, the teacher got a phone call and kids started talking, like normal...until he told Carly to go to the office. Everyone's gaze was on the brunette as she stood up about to leave when the teacher stopped her "You might want to take your things." The look in his eyes scared her, it was a sad look. She grabbed her things and hurried out running down the hall when the door shut. She stood outside the office and walked in as she pushed her hand over her shoulders, standing there talking to the principal was a police officer. She figured he was probably here to get a kid with drugs or something but when he walked over to her, her heart stopped "Ms. Willows?" He asked, The young girl nodded slowly and looked past him to the principal who had turned and walked back into her office "Ms. Willows please come with me." It wasn't a suggestion but more a command as she took hold of her upper arm and took her to his squad car, the car right was an awkward silence as he took her to the hospital where she learned what happened to her parents.

Carly rubbed her eyes trying to get the memory out of her head, she stood on the side walk in front of her brothers house with her suitcases around her and the same cop who had taken her to her parents knocking on the door, Carly's eyes where red and puffy from all the crying she had done, even her cheeks had red streaks. She sniffled and kept her eyes down, she was out of tears but she was still shaken from the news.

Mike opens the door and looks at the officer and then at Carly. He walks straight to Carly and wraps his arms around her, hugging her. Not saying a word, he didn't know what to say. He runs his fingers through her hair. "Thank you Officer." He says. The cop nods. "I'm sorry for your loss." He says. Mike nods and the Officer walks back to his car. "Come on let's get your things inside." He says softly. He was the only one Carly had now, they didn't have any other living relatives, except for maybe some cousins. Mike's eyes were red and puffy from crying as well, he had found out right after his sister did.

He wished they would of told him first so he could of went and got her at school but they didn't. He slowly pulls his arms from around her and picks up her bags, leading her inside.

She followed him inside, normally she would have looked around but obviously she wasn't in the mood, she leaned on the nearest wall as she rubbed her eyes, her mascara had been smudged from her crying and it was obvious she had tried getting rid of the smear earlier but it hadn't gone away. Even though her and Mike rarely talked when he still lived with them she was glad he hadn't gone out of state or what ever, he was the only one she had that she didn't hate. She put her back to the wall and slid down and pulled her knees to her chest as she held her legs tightly, she was told it was a drunk driver who hit them and it was a head on collision and all three had died, though their parents had at least made it to the hospital alive but died there.

He puts her bags near the stairs and walks over. He slowly sits beside her and wraps his arms around her. He kisses the side of her head. He regretted not spending time with her when they were growing up but there wasn't anything he could change about the past now. The future was wide open though. "You're in my custody now...they were trying to send you to Martha's but I told them I'd take you in." he says softly. Neither of them liked Martha, she was an alcoholic and smoked 3 packs a day. He pauses for a moment. "I just talked to Mom and Dad a couple hours before it happened." He says softly.

She leaned into him when he wrapped his arms around her she listened to him without a word, her nose crinkling when he mentioned that she could have gone to Martha's she looked up at him when he said he talked to them "W-What did....what did they say?" She asked with wide eyes. She didn't want to cry anymore, her chest hurt from the sobs that had racked her body not even an hour ago. She looked like a total wreck, her hair wasn't neatly brushed like it had been, it was messy. her sleeves had faint traces of her mascara from her rubbing her eyes and cheeks so much.

"They had called me earlier but I was at the gym. So I called them back and they were about to go out to lunch. I talked to both of them, dad asked me how work was going and mom was making sure I was eating right and not drinking too much. They wanted me to join them for dinner but I had already ate." He says softly. He sighs. "I can't believe they're gone." He says softly.

She sniffled and rubbed her eyes with the palms of her hands and dropped her head a bit "Why did it have to be them." she whimpered as more tears started to fall. Her body shook as she started sobbing again, she gripped the front of his shirt, finding his presence surprisingly comforting. After a moment she slowly stopped crying, her body limp against his from lack of energy, she closed her eyes just wanting to go to sleep and find out the whole thing was just a horrible twisted nightmare.

He pulls her onto his lap and holds her close to him. He runs his fingers through her hair and kisses the side of her head. "It's not fair." He says softly. He continues to hold his sister, trying to comfort her. He wasn't good at this, he never knew what to say and since it was his parents he really didn't know what to do. He knew he'd have to plan the funeral and handle the expenses.

As a small wave of comfort washed over her she slowly fell asleep in his arms, her hair in her face and her breaths deep and slow. Her head resting on his shoulder so her hot breath brushes his neck. The hand that was gripping the front of his shirt slowly relaxed and dropped into her lap, as she slept small whimpers escaped her mouth.

Mike slowly gets up and takes her upstairs, he needed to get her bed from his parents house, he didn't have a bed in the guest bedroom. He takes her to his room and lays her down. He gently takes her shoes off and lays beside her, wrapping his arms around her. He closes his eyes and slowly falls asleep as well.

Around five the next morning she slowly opened her gray-blue eyes to find Mike beside her, she frowned when she realized it wasn't a dream like she hoped. She quietly slipped out of his arms and went down stairs, getting a change of clothes she went back up and set them in the guest room before going into the bathroom to take a shower. She shut the door and stripped down before turning on the water, making sure it was warm enough before getting in.

Mike wakes up and realizes his sister was gone. He sits up and then stands. He walks out of his room and stops hearing the water running in the bathroom. Shower he thought to himself. He goes downstairs and carries the rest of her bags upstairs. He puts them in the guest room and turns to walk out.

When she finished she stepped out and wrapped a towel around her and slipped out of the bathroom and watched the steam run out of the bathroom. She walked to the guest room to get dressed, using her foot to push the door closed before she got dressed. She had school today but she had absolutely no plans to go today. She draped the towel over her shoulders to keep the water from dripping onto her clothes.

Mike was downstairs fixing some breakfast. He was in a daze, still in shock that his parents were gone. He gets breakfast fixed and pours a couple glasses of orange juice and sits them at the table, waiting on Carly to come downstairs.

She ran a hand through her hair as she headed down stairs and stood in the door way "Thank you for taking me in Mike." She said softly. Carly walked over to one of the seats and quietly sat down, she had bags under her eyes and her face seemed paler than usual. She placed her elbow on the table as she rubbed her eyes which where burning slightly.

"You're my sister...of course I was going to take you in." He says softly. He kisses the top of her head. "Eat. You'll need your strength over the next few days." he says as he walks over and sits down as well.

Carly looked over at him questioningly but didn't say anything as she picked at her food for a moment before she started eating. When she finished she leaned back "Gosh that was good." She said and cracked a small smile looking over at him.

He smiles. "Didn't know your brother could cook huh?" He smiles at her, happy to see her smile even if it was just a small one. "Just wait until dinner. That will really knock your socks off." He smiles

She rolled her eyes "Suuuure, burnt toast with moldy cheese, sounds delish." She scoffed teasingly before drinking the rest of her orange juice and closing her eyes with a sigh "Hey do you have any asprin?" She asked as she opened an eye to look at him.

He nods and gets up. He walks to the cabinet and gets some aspirin out. He puts two into his hand and walks over holding them out to her. "There you go." He says.

"Thanks." Carly said as she took the pills from his hand and swallowed them both with ease, not needing a drink to help it go down. She rested her hands behind her head "I hope you don't mind me taking a few days off of school." She said as she closed her eyes again

"Of course not. You can take all the time you need." He says softly as he begins to rub her shoulders. He knew she was closer to their parents, having lived with them. He wasn't as close but it still bothered him.

She opened her eyes to look up at him when he started rubbing her shoulders. She dropped her hands into her lap "Thanks..." She said quietly, and sat up.

He continues to rub her shoulders. "We have to start with Funeral preparations." He says softly. He didn't want to but he had to. "Do you want to help or do you want me to handle it?" He asks softly.

She felt a bit uncomfortable with him rubbing her shoulders but she didn't say anything "I can't." She said shaking her head looking up at him "Could you?" She asked with a frown, it made her feel bad that she wouldn't be able to help but she just didn't think she'd be able to handle it.
