Of gods and mortals. ( Batman4560 Xrwinrich)

Orion stood there for a moment and looked at his gear. "No violence....wait. Can you keep an eye on my gear?" He asked and slid a simple small knife into his boot. Walking outside he could hear the sounds of footsteps and in the distance saw the most horrid thing he had ever seen. "A Cyclops...." The villagers were running and screaming for their lives. Orion swallowed hard and ran at the monster. "HEY!...NO WAIT WAIT. LETS TALK....SURELY WE CAN COME TO A PEACEFUL AGREEMENT RIGHT?" He shouted up at the beast as he drew closer to it. Orion's heart was racing and the blood pumping threw his body. He remembered that he could not use violence and almost instantly had an idea. "WHY IS IT YOUR HERE?" He held his hands up to show he had no weapon in his hands and licked his lips when his mouth went dry since he was so afraid.

He had planned on offering himself as a slave in exchange for the safety of the larger village. He could only hope that the Cyclops would agree and move on.

Salacia smiles at him. "Of course, your gear shall remain safe in my care." Watching him leave as she continued to lay there rather relaxed sure that he would be able to pass this test as well. If not and he did end up in trouble, she actually considered jumping in to save him. The cyclops was very ugly looking and seemed to be intent upon grabbing any one of the villagers for his meal. Looking down to see a human talking to him, it growled. "I am here to find my meal and these villagers look very tasty." Which he then proceeded to move around Orion to head straight for the inn. Salacia was still inside and was watching from the window, she didn't seem at all afraid of the cyclops.

"You could eat these small bony villagers...or. I can cook for you. Anything you would like so long as you leave these people alone." He yelled out. Orion moved in front of the inn and held his arms out to them. "Surely you have heard of me! I am the man that killed the lava beast and cooked it for its tender meat. It was amazing. Let me prepare a meal for you, a bear, group of goats? This is surely a farming village and would have alot of cattle for you feast on. The men and women here would serve you better if they could continue to grow these crops!" He pointed to a small bin of barn animals behind the nasty, hairy giant. "If you promise to leave this village with only two horses, a Cow, and three goats I will prepare them for you today and you can eat them for a meal today!" He thought for a moment "And I will work for you as long as you desire. Should you not like the food you can always eat me and then return to the village for the others!"

The cyclops didn't like that his meal was being interrupted by this piddly little human man. Although he did have to admit he looked good enough to eat. He stopped and listened to this human, hearing that he was the one to have taken down the lava beast and cooked it. Hearing that he could get someone to cook his meals for him, it sounded very appealing to him. To not have to go hunting into each village just to grab a human to eat. He didn't enjoy having to run around for his meal, let alone fight some humans for it. this could be a good solution. "You will cook my food for me, every single day?"

Salacia found it rather appealing that Orion was even using himself as a bargaining tool, very resourceful. He truly was selfless, this test was proving to show that he would be a god that cared for the humans he was watching over. Not something she had ever really cared about but it was rather interesting now.

"Yes...Yes Twice a week I will cook for to last you a few days, that way I may be with my wife. You bring me cattle and I will make meals for you. But I will not cook humans for you." He gave the monster a stare while tensing his body. If the beast moved for him to attack Orion would willingly fail the test and kill the Cyclops and save the villagers. He got ready to reach into his boot and thought of Salacia and the way she asked him to not use violence. As much as he wanted to be with her, he would die for anyone that could not save themselves. However if the beast agreed to his terms, when Orion became a god Orion would kill the monster for the people and then leave them to their own devices.

The cyclops liked the idea very much as he would no longer have to hunt for his food, getting pain in his legs and such. "You will cook for me as often as I need it. You will not forget to feed me or else I will come for you and your wife." It was obvious the cyclops was agreeing to the deal. "Meet me outside the village and bring supplies to cook for me. You will bring the food as well." He growls at him before he walks out of the village.

Salacia appears next to him with all of his gear next to her feet. "You have passed with flying colors, although I will admit he looked as though he was ready to just eat you." Leaning in she kisses him gently on the lips. "Now if you feel the need to comply by what you agreed to or you could just do what you want. You have passed the test, which means violence is now allowed again."

"I will need the villagers to make him a sweet treat, a large one. With all the poison they have for dealing with the vermin, for all he is...is vermin." Orion walked into the center of the city and rallied the men and women to comply to his idea. After a few hours of cooking the villagers loaded up a massive muffin filled with chunks of rat poison in it, onto a wagon that was led by a horse. Orion would tell the Cyclops that it was chocolate something Orion was sure the Cyclops had not had before. He led the horse out of the village and only carried his basic gear. He waved at the Cyclops and shouted up. "I need to say goodbye to my wife and child. But please enjoy this chocolate muffin while I say goodbye. I worked hard all day on it and hope it appeases you."

Orion bowed low and took a step back and before moving back into the village. He waited against the gate to see if he could hear the monster eating. Looking back to Salacia he smiled and winked at her. Orion licked his lips and tasted her on his lips. This was starting to get hard for him.

Salacia watched him as he was able to rally all the villagers to help him with his rather sinister idea of taking care of the cyclops. Now that she was able to say he only had one test left she was rather worried as to how he would handle his very last test. The cyclops accepted the chocolate muffin and it wasn't long before he was chowing down upon it with such gusto. After a bit he starts to gag and fall over, convulsing before his body goes limp as he dies from the poison they gave him.

Salacia couldn't help herself as she laughs at him as she walks over to him. "You have a wife and a child? I don't believe I ever met either one of them. Do be a gentleman and introduce me." It really was amazing that he had convinced the cyclops so easily. He was truly becoming more than just a half-god, soon he would be a real god and that thought made her rather happy. "One more test my darling. Although, this test will be your hardest. Hunting and killing Echidna, the mother of all monsters."

"Im looking at my wife, the child will come later." He licked his lips and smiled at the slightly shorter woman. He knew that soon all this would be over but then she broke the news to him. His smile faded and his eyes widened in horror. "I have to kill Echidna....the mother of all monsters?" He looked over at the dead Cyclops and his handiwork. He had outsmarted the dumb beast but the mother of all monsters was not the same, she was smart, powerful, a match for some of the weaker gods but he was simply a half god and had not developed all his powers. Orion's body trembled and for a moment he thought that Salacia was trying to kill him. "SHIT!" He said to himself. "Where the hell do I start looking?" Orion took his gear and strapped it to him. "I need to leave now if I am to defeat this beast...or die trying." He looked at Salacia with worried eyes. He was sure he would die.

Salacia was glad that he already considered her to be his wife and she loved watching him lick his lips, he was likely still tasting her upon his lips. She knew he wouldn't react very well to the news she had to give him but she hoped he had the confidence to know he could win this fight. Wrapping her arms around the back of his head she kisses him deep and passionately. When she had finally released him, she was once again out of breath. "You will be fine, I'm sure of it. Besides you have developed most of your powers through these tests, that should help you out. I wish I could give you something easier but we both know that would not work out well. Follow the largest river north, you will find her cave along that way." Honestly, she didn't want to see him go. He had become so very important to her now that if possible she would help him herself. "As long as you catch her off-guard this shouldn't be too hard of a fight. Just make sure to keep away from the tip of her tail, it would end you. You will win, just believe that. I will not let you die, no matter the outcome." She meant that.

"River north, come to a cave...." Orion repeated Salacia's instructions and nodded to himself. "To be honest if I die, don't save me. I don't think I could live with myself knowing I came so close and failed at the last test of all things." As Orion finished speaking he headed out of the cities gate and past the Cyclops and looked at if for a long moment. Often the one eyed fighters were known to be great smiths, who were able to forge god like weapons. Orion searched the dead giant for a long time taking nearly two hours until coming across a small (In giant standard) belt. After a bit of struggling Orion got the belt to fit on his body and he almost instantly felt stronger, as if he could lift ten times as much as he could before. Wanting to test this he crawled under the Cyclops and squatted down. Placing his hands upon its back shoulder width apart he lifted with both his legs and arms bringing the giant into the air as far as his body would allow. Effortlessly he moved the Cyclops away from the village and to a small clearing just outside a wooded area. Orion smiled in satisfaction and dusted off his hands. "Belt of Cycloptic strength...this will help alot." Grabbing the bow from his back Orion moved north and into the river of the village. For hours he traveled north with not a single sign of the monster.

Orion noticed the sun starting to set and frowned. It would be harder to find it's cave at night so he climbed out of the water and walked to a thick tree. The tall nasty looking tree was thick and had alot of branches atop it. Orion was about to start to climb up the tree when he heard a tree falling in the distance. He slowly started to walk to the sound of the fallen tree. Crouching low Orion could see the head of a bull smashing into a thick tree repeatedly knocking it over. When the form rose up Orion saw it for what it was, a Minotaur. Orion drew an arrow from his quiver and pulled the bowstring back. Taking a deep breath he aimed the shot at the beasts heart and fired at the beast from behind. As the arrow went flying threw the air it burst into flame causing Orion to jump with alarm. The arrow burned threw the monster and dropped it to its knees. Orion stood up and dropped his bow while running at the kneed beast and drawing his hammer. Running up to the beast he slammed his hammer as hard as he could in the spine of he monster and smashed it it. Afterwords he drew his knife and cut the head off the body. "First thing in the morning Ill make this into a helmet." Orion dragged his body up the tree after picking up his hammer and tied himself to a taller branch before falling asleep.

Salacia didn't want to hear him talk like that, he was important to her and it wouldn't be much of an existence without him, he was her perfect mate. In a way she set him up with opportunities to test him further, give him some confidence. She had known the Minotaur would be along that path as she wanted him to kill it and use it however he wanted. He had armor that was amazing, it would help him in his fight with Echidna. He would use that bow and those arrows wisely, she had given them to him and no one else. Not one of the other hopefuls had dared ask her for anything, which was likely the reason they had failed so quickly. He was closer than he could imagine to his goal and she would be watching avidly. His winning wasn't just her only chance, his winning would mean that he would gain his full godhood and become her mate. It would be very hard for her to visit him this way but she did, kissing him so very passionately, not wanting to let him go. When she finally released his lips, she smiles. "You will win this. I know you can because I can't be with anyone else. I do believe I've fallen in love with you. Finish this last test and become a full god!"

Haunted by dreams of his would be lover Orion woke in a horrible state. The tree branches were no bed and it showed on his body as he cut his self made binds and climbed down the tree. Upon reaching the bottom of the tree Orion withdrew the small box from his sack and opened it up on the floor. "Forge" He commanded and watched as the mini forge grew into a massive work area for him. Orion spent the next few hours crafting the head of the Minotaur into a fearsome looking helmet. His eyes were the only visible part of his head under the helm of his own creation. Taking his hammer he clubbed himself hard in the head and felt nothing. "I doubt a monster could break threw this if I can't crack it." He said to himself before closing up his forge and moving further up the river...

Salacia knew things would work out, she just did. She didn't like the way he looked when he woke up at all, he didn't look as though he was rested enough for this fight. Once he was done forging his new helmet, he would find a nice pack of cooked food right by his gear. She couldn't make it so that his sleep was better, at least not at this moment but she could at least make sure he was well-fed. It was actually the food from the village he saved, the very village that could be considered their first date. It had almost been their first sexual experience with each other as well. Salacia knew that Orion was perfect for her because he had actually stopped himself from going any further, not an easy thing, especially when she was already bared to him.

Orion noticed the food before he left and smiled up at the sky. "Thank you..." He said to his would be wife. Opening up the pack of food he continued on his way and ate all that he could before placing the rest back in his bag. He had no idea how much longer the trek would be but he planed on traveling for ten hours a day with an eight hour rest and a few breaks between. If all went well anyways. Constantly he kept his eyes open for any sign of the cave she spoke of. While he was given directions they were a bit unclear as there was no way of knowing if he went to far.

Yes, Salacia had given him rather obscure directions but this was one of those tests that she couldn't give him more than the basics of directions. She was glad that he liked her present for him, after all she didn't want him to be too hungry that he dies. The cave was rather easy to find as it was the only cave large enough to even house her large children. Not to mention you could hear Echidna inside talking or screeching. The cave came into view a few more hours after he had started walking. Salacia had even put a little post for him giving him some helpful hints. "Keep away from the tail! Watch out for her many arms! Aim for the neck and sever it! You can win this!" It was the most she could do to help him.

"Sever the neck...with a hammer..." He looked at his golden hammer and just considered using the same attack he used on the beast who's head he was wearing. Drawing his bow and an arrow he notched the arrow and made his way into the mouth of the cave slowly. He could not see in the dark of the cave witch put him at a horrible disadvantage while hunting the mother of all monsters. As he wandered into the cave he wondered what kind of monsters he would face or if it would only be the queen. Then again he didn't even know what the queen looked like...

Salacia knew it would be hard for him to see in the dark of the cave and so she gave him something of an advantage, granting him the ability to see in the dark whenever he needed to. Couldn't leave him to fight the mother of all monsters with such a huge disadvantage. At least Echidna was alone and it wasn't hard for Orion to know exactly what she looked like. She was the monster with the lower half of her body was a snake, while the upper half looked human, except for the two additional arms.

Moving threw the halls of the cave Orion came to a large clearing and was amazed to find that he could see. Closing his eyes for a moment he thanked the gods for the help he was given. His eyes scanned the area that seemed to go on forever. Licking his dry lips he felt the warmth of the cave as something moved past his legs. He didn't notice it as the snake tail ran around him and slowly started to circle. Soon he was lifted into the air and dropped his bow and arrow. "SHIT!" He called out as the tail of the snake monster flung him hard into a cave wall at the opposite end of the area. He hit hard and slid down onto his back. Dazed Orion picked himself up off the floor and drew his shield and hammer from his back. He remembered the advice given to him and watched the ground. As the snakes tail came up to sting him he threw his shield arm into it and blocked the strike before smashing the stinger with his hammer.

The monster cried out in pain and revealed itself. The top half of her was beautiful and almost caused Orion to drop to his knees. As he started to fall his hammer hit the ground and woke him from the monsters spell. Charging her he lashed out at it. The monsters arms swung wildly knocking Orion around and causing him to reel back. The tail of the monster while stinger-less lashed out and struck him in the back causing Orion to fall forward and hit the ground hard. He rolled to his back in time to grab the woman's arm and yanked on it. He pulled it so hard that it ripped off her torso and blood sprayed around her shoulder joint. Orion sat up and grabbed the monster by her tail and swung her into the wall hard. As the monster tried to get its barrings back Orion lifted his hammer and swung it twice in a circle before throwing it at the mother of monsters. The hammer burst into flames as it came free of Orions grip and smashed her skull into little fragments.

Orion fell to the ground dazed and tired but was the clear victor. He slid off his helmet and looked up into the darkness of the cave. Amazed he survived the battle he placed a hand on his head and when he pulled it away he saw blood. "Ouch..." He was not in pain but at some point during the monsters attack he was cut. Picking up his hammer he walked to the entrance and retrieved his bow. Once outside the cave Orion slumped against the cave wall and raised his hammer into the air causing it to set fire. "..oh, it is a power I have..." He thought it was a god granting it to him but once he willed it to happen he smiled knowing he could make vorpral weapons.

Salacia had watched the entire fight on the edge of her seat, if she had actually been sitting down that is. She had warned him about the tail, although she hadn't warned him about her beauty, at least she didn't need to. Even seeing the little bit of blood on his head didn't make her happy but he had won. That was when Salacia appeared in front of him. Smiling at him as she was glad to see he was alright. "You have won, which means you are my true mate and you will become a full-fledged god. Then you will even be able to meet your father in person." Kissing him lightly on the lips as she pulls out a small cloth and gently dabs it onto his head.

Orion smiled warmly as Salacia patted the cloth on his head and cleaned the blood from it. "I got lucky....that is all." He felt sick, maybe a residual effect from her attacks. He couldn't bring himself to stand straight and his legs felt like gel. Slowly his skin turned a pale white. "umm..not to complain but I think that its arms were poisoned too." Turning his head Orion started to vomit horribly and a gleam of sweat covered his skin as a fever swiftly over took him and caused him to pass out against the side of the cave.

Salacia had never heard of Echidna having poison in her arms just when it came to the tail, she knew for sure it was in the tail. She did sniff at the cloth she had used to clean his blood with but she didn't smell any poison in his blood. She had never known anyone to react like this before and this was not the way she had hoped to find him. Grabbing ahold of him as she takes him right to a village doctor. "I don't know what happened to him. He fought Echidna but her tail didn't touch any part of him that drew blood. I was watching the entire time." Whether this doctor would be able to figure out what was wrong with him she didn't know but she knew this doctor had dealt with plenty of cases dealing with Echidna's tail, he would be able to determine if that is what it is.

The doctor had no idea what was happening to Orion who was laying on the small table and thrashing about trying to fight the god powers that were flowing threw him. His skin grew hotter than flame and his mind raced with images of the gods and what kind of power they possessed. It was at this time he found what the gods expected of him. Orion awoke in a startle and cried out in pain as for the first time he could feel the pain of fire in his body. "Ahh what the hell? Is this supposed to happen?" He asked and glew a faint white light. "I-hurt..." He had not felt this kind of pain before in his life but slowly it started to subside.

Salacia was rather worried as she wasn't even certain herself as to what was happening, yet it seemed as though he wasn't dying but something inside of him was growing stronger. It was obvious he was gaining his powers, which helped to alleviate some of her worries, yet she didn't like seeing him in pain. She really wished she could take the pain away from him. When he woke up that way, it had scared her. Reaching out as she takes his hand, holding onto it for as much support as she could. "I believe so but I've never witnessed anyone receiving their godhood, who wasn't a god before." What else could she say, he was enduring this because of her after all. She felt responsible.

After a few minutes he stopped writhing in pain and felt as if he was fine. Starring up at Salacia he had thought he died and was simply waiting for the gods to claim his soul. "Umm, am I dead?" He asked with a worried tone. "Or did we just get married?" He felt stronger, faster, like he could do whatever he willed. Sitting up he tilted his head. Never before had he felt this good. Licking his lips Orion reached out and grabbed Salacia by the waist and forced her onto his lap. "I have become a god....so, whats next in my little quest for your heart?"
