The boss is back (Nightstalker/cheerio)

"I have every confidence in you." She spoke softly. "I know you can get them kiddo, your smart after all, just allow me to guide a little, you'll win it."

Ross listened to her softly spoken words and stood up slowly, moving to the first chair position his eyes roamed the court room before settling on a small spot behind the jury. It should not be too hard he thought to himself as the rest of the court soon filled, opening arguments began with him last. Reeling off all the facts, details and means of the law he could he heard silence fall over the court room, eyes darting to her wondering if he had done wrong.

She had smiled and nodded to him as the court moved on, her words soft as she offered him the fact file that he'd need to win the case. "Try to go soft on our side and scare the other side." She had used the scare tactic before and it often worked.

Taking the file he scanned several pages of it before turning his attention to only some of the jurors, his voice soft at times, stern at other times as he emphasized certain points he was trying to get across. When they tried to rebut his call he scored twice and had to juggle the folder to win the third, it was slowly going their way.

He smiled at her softly spoken words, his feet guiding him towards the rest room. Pausing outside he spoke. "Thanks. Will let you bring some food back here."

Suzanne had smiled. "I'll go and fnd the food." She had returned to him only moments later with food and diet drinks, offering him his plate and drink with a calm gentleness that showed nothing but respect.

Ross heard her words and used the rest room to take some time to gather his thoughts for the continuation of proceedings before him. Splashing some water on his face he tried to stay calm, nerves all jittery on the inside as he returned outside soon greeted by her warm smile and food. He barely ate, his eyes on the clock and mind on the job of what he had to do to win the case.

Suzanne had eaten quickly, finishing her drink a good ten minutes before they were due back. "Ready to go kick some lawyer ass?"

Ross smiled back into her eyes and nodded before finishing off his drink, placing the containers from both into the bin he started to walk slowly back towards the court room. Still trying to keep his nerves in check, knowing that if they showed too much the opposing law team would easily carve him up.

Suzanne had walked with him, allowing her hand to close around his wrist softly, letting him know she was there before letting go again.

Ross smiled at the soft contact of her hand on his wrist, albeit brief it was enough to give him a confident stride back into the room. His eyes setting on a different figure this afternoon as session was brought in to order, he started slow almost like he was just sparring with his opponent, taking a few hits but retaliating well. With a quick wipe of his shirt across his brow he got down to heavy hitting with their main legal man and was soon a few points ahead and he knew it. Resting only slightly he gave it his all and took a few deep breaths as the deliberation was underway, reaching for his glass of water and downing half of it.

The deliberation had afforded Suzanne enough of a chance to lean into him a little and whisper. "You're getting good already." A little part of her sounded proud.

Hearing her whispered words he turned his head and whispered back."Thanks". Head turning back and fully around the court room, only a few eyes looking towards him. It was going to be close as he took another sip of his water, almost choking on it as he heard the decision went their way, speechless and stunned were the two emotions rocking his body.

Suzanne had smiled widely as they got their point across and won the case. "Told you so." She murmured. "Ready for the next case?"

It took a few moments for him to fully catch his breath, head turning to face hers as he spoke softly. "If you feel I can handle it." He gave a small wink too.

Her words and the pat was the only inspiration he needed to start tackling the next case, his eyes scanning the court room as he spoke in a more confident manner. The judge pausing his speech once and the opposing team could barely raise an objection, shot down if they did.

As the court emptied at the end of the case Suzanne smiled and made a note in her diary. Ross was due to become an associate. It was a step closer to him being a partner.

Ross was not sure what the notes meant at all, he was just going to do the best work he could do in and out of the court room; each and every part just as vital. His eyes noticing the now empty court room, taking a few breaths he spoke softly. "So now what Boss."

Hearing her words he felt a slight sense of relief but also lacking something, was it that he really did want to lead chair all the time and needed it. Taking his suitcase with documents he smiled and walked out of the court room with her, eyes glancing around as they made their way towards the car. "My place or yours tonight."

Ross heard her words, feelings of anxiety, excitement and relief all washed over his body as he guided her to his car. Once in he drove the short distance to his house, not having eaten much starting to take a toll now as he heard his stomach grumble. "If you are sure I can fully handle it." He said softly.
