Yeah, if its an app would we pay 1 dollar to have all the services of BM on the phone. What's even better is that you wouldnt need to type. You can just speak in the mic area and boom post is done.

I thought you could dictate a post in saphari for iPhone as well? if you have a 4s or 5 at least, at least last time I checked there was the little mic button next to the space bar...

Not everyone has an iPhone, especially not with the rise to fame of Samsung and HTC.

I made the switch from Apple to Android and never looked back.
I can designate the website as a bookmark, but it's simply not the same as an app.

oh, I know not everyone has an iPhone. However I was unaware that with other phones you could not do a similar thing, I have not worked with android...

Realistically, I don't think that among the millions of apps, an app for a single forum would attain enough attention to attract new members. It would be a convenience for existing members. Another thing to consider is that, while such an app might fly in Google's play store, Apple will not condone apps with erotic content in it's app store. I realize that this is not all what this site is about, but it's a core theme and a hook to get new people in, there's no denying that.

A mobile-friendly theme, or a forum plugin that accommodates easier navigation, would be a much cheaper, simpler solution.

Are you sure about that?
I've heard of porn apps. Apps that are designed to easily stream porn from a mobile device. And that's way more sexual content than Bluemoon will ever surmount too.

This is a writing forum, just because it claims a more erotic title doesn't mean it's inappropriate for app-creation. It's 18+ and it's legal.

hell, apple's ap store sells vibrator aps... that seems pretty sexual. I haven't looked but doesn't magazines like playboy and the like have aps for iPhone? I can't imagine why they wouldn't, but again I haven't gone and looked so do not know for sure.

This is from the playboy app in the ios appstore:

Playboy for iPhone gives you exclusive content you can only find on the App, plus the best articles from the latest issue of Playboy Magazine. Content includes NON-NUDE girl pictorials and original lifestyle content (Food, Drink, Style, Travel).

Apple has a known reputation for removing apps with adult content from the app store. This is from Comixology:

ComiXology has removed 56 titles from its iOS app this week — they range from Angry Youth Comix to Sex to The Boys: Herogasm — to adhere to Apple App Store policies. They’re still available for purchase from comiXology.com.
“In order to comply with the Apple App Store guidelines regarding adult or inappropriate content, some new releases were rejected for our iOS app this week,” a statement on the comiXology blog reads. “In addition, certain previously released titles that fall outside of these guidelines were also rejected and will be removed from sale.”

If you have a developer account, you can read those guidelines. They have clear rules regarding adult content and imagery. I'm not allowed to paste these guidelines here. I'm sure some apps will slip through the net and pass review here and there, but that doesn't mean they won't be removed at a later time. It's apple, they have a shit ton of rules.

But BlueMoon doesn't have imagery.
There's no sexual content on the front pages. This is a forum. You'd have to have to dig through the website to find sexual posts.

I actually looked further into it with the help of a tech friend of mine and he said you can make sexual/pornographic content apps no problem - they just can't be listed. You'd have to retrieve them through another medium. Whatever that means.

So, having an iphone and a ton of apps, I can tell you that yes... there are apps that are a LOT more sexual. I know I had one free app that had sex positions for every day of the year, and you could set the phone on your bed and it would not only tell you how long the 'session' lasted but using movements calculated the thrusts. And this was a free app with sort of crash test dummy like images in a static position that gave you an idea of how to do it. The paid app had animations.

I started randomly searching for stuff, and there are 39 apps under 'vibrator phone' with only two or three of them being prank things or a vibrator alarm. 279 apps came up under sex positions. 1,497 under 'sex games'. I'm sure there are a few mislabeled things under there, and yes... some are as stupid as a dice game truth or dare but the point is, Apple does have free apps (which can be made by almost anyone) but paid ones where Apple itself draws some percentage of profits from. And, from what I'm looking at playboy has a very loose definition of 'Non-Nude'. Sure, the girl is in a tank top, but it is white, wet, and there is major side and underboob and a skimpy bikini bottom that doesn't leave much of her ass to the imagination. :3c Since BMR itself isn't the one posting full frontal nudes, then I don't think it would be a problem. Besides, you're supposed to be 18 to enter the site. No nudity of any kind in sigs or avvies, new threads/posts that have graphics or even links to them being mark NSFW. There are rules, warnings, etc. I mean, is sort of the equivalent of someone to say Skype was responsible for any sexting or cam/vid shots a person sent of themselves using their apps.

But yeah, people can get on Blue Moon anyways if they have a decent data plan. It takes awhile to load, and the font is incredibly tiny unless you zoom but like Slimpie suggested, there are existing things that can be added to BMR to make more mobile friendly. The only thing I could think of outside of the layout would be letting you know when you had a reply to a subscribed thread or a new PM. I'm pretty sure the chat is IRC (or similar) based so it can be accessed using one of the free lite apps, or for $2 you could get Colloquy.

I agree with the above.
And like I've said before, and I'll say it again, there are tons of PORN streaming apps out there. They may not be condoned by Apple, or Android, but they exist.

Making an app for BlueMoon is worth a shot. If it gets rejected (which I highly doubt it will), then we can find a third-party medium to launch the app. It's been done before.

So, talking to one of my friends who used to work for some indie company... there is already an Android app called Coracent (formerly Rare Artifact) that would work pretty well for something basic, or at least give a base to work with if this did ever get done. It basically turns any webpage in to an app; as the webpage updates with information, the app will update itself. I tried to do a little test on some random webpage, but Apple is the ultimate cock blocker and I can't download the test page on my phone. Pretty much just enter a company name, target url, a name, and a logo and it wraps it up in a nice neat package that you can host on a google developer account ($25 registration) or they'll publish it for you for $10 one time fee.

I think an ap could be cool myself, might give me less links I have to scroll through to get to the one I want.

it would probably be easier if I turned off signatures on my phone, but then I wouldn't have them on on my computer either and I'm not going to bother to change that every day, so I'll just make due. haha.

but a mobile cite version could be cool also, although what links and such could you really cut out?
It's probably not an issue of cutting out links so much, but just simplifying the format, and maybe adjusting somethings like abbreviations and such.

But an app for smartphones would be great. I can open this site just fine on my smartphone in it's standard version. Everything adjusts itself accordingly. The only issue with it is when you want to reply to a Private Message where there's a lot of text. That's where the issues begin.

True...Apple doesn't allow any apps to have nudity in it.

Though, there IS a porn app that comes with iphone pre-installed. It's called Safari ;)

I would love a mobile site...the postings get all wacky and moody and the screen scrolls all over the place when i type on an iPhone.

Personally, I have data on my phone and I hate going on Bluemoon. There's so much small font - I can't even tell you how many times I've accidentally logged out or clicked the wrong thing. I know you can zoom in, but I have a Galaxy S2 and it's just a headache. I would prefer an app - easier, simpler... :)

I have the same phone and I agree that it can be difficult to read the text but like what was said earlier just giving the site code for small screens would help a lot and if/until there is an app for BMR it would make it easier for people on smartphones to access the site.
