The Miko and her Shinobi (RyutheXIIIth x Raeona)

"Well, that's good" she said, sighing softly as she sat down on a step outside of the temple. "The relic has lost it's power." she explained, sighing a bit. "We need to go to the temple it was created in to get the power back" She said, glancing over to him "Hope you're ready for a long trip"

"Long trip, huh?" He sat on the steps beside her, facing her as he did so. "I don't mind. I do have to keep you safe." He looked around them and noticed the sky darkening further. "If we're going to travel a long distance, though, we'll have to do it tomorrow; it's getting late. Plus, I hope you have enough money for the both of us, at least for a day. I can earn some more along the way." He nodded to her, not wanting to be a burden to the one he was protecting.

"I... I didn't bring any money" she said, gently getting to her feet and glancing around "But... The people at the temple can help us probably" She said, stepping in and talking to one of the workers who gave her enough money just for the one night and one room. Walking back over to him, she smiled and held it up. "Let's go then"

He nodded to the girl, leaning back on the tree as he waited. When she returned a while later, he looked up at her, nodding his head again. "That will do for the night." He walked up to her and looked around for an inn. Finding a decent one, he held her hand - which he noticed then was surprisingly soft - and led her towards it. He stopped midway, and blinked once, facing the girl. "Ah, by the way, if you don't mind me asking, what kind of relic is it?" he said, referring to the box she was holding.

She glanced down to the box and frowned "I don't know everything about it, but I know it belonged to a demon so it's really dangerous" She said as she glanced up at him. Soon, they stepped into the inn and she put the money down.

"A demon, huh?" The male simply shrugged as he stepped into the inn with her.

The broad man behind the counter raised an eyebrow at them, and then smiled slowly. "Heh, you're a ninja, aren't you? Quite rare of one to come to this village, let alone this inn. Secret mission or something?" The young male chuckled, shaking his head as he ruffled his silver hair. "Not quite, just staying for the night. Room for two, please." "Of course," the innkeeper grinned and called out to one of the maids.

A young girl in a kimono appeared before them, bowing gracefully before looking up at them with a shy smile. "Please, come this way. You two seem... special." She quietly giggled as she led them to their room.

Special? She thought to herself as she slowly began to follow the young girl. She took a deep breath and stepped into the room, glancing around. "So then, guess we'll just get moving tomorrow morning then"

The mal gave a quick glance at the maid before she left. What did she mean by special? Shaking his head with a sigh, he slid the door shut behind him and looked around the quaint but comfortable room. "Well, if it's really important, then we shall." He stepped in a little further before leading his hands up to the back of his head and untied the mask, pulling it off to reveal his lower face. "Dinner may take a while, so let's fresh up, I guess."

"Dinner?" She asked, glancing over to him curiously as she moved to sit on the bed. She glanced around, resting her hands in her lap curiously.

He simply nodded as he walked over to the bed and sat beside her, sighing deeply and stretching out his arms. "Nn... yeah, You don't want to go to sleep hungry, do you? Also..." He turned his head to face the girl. "Tell me a little about yourself? Since I'm going to accompany you for a while, we should get to know each other well."

"There isn't much to tell" She said honestly, shrugging her shoulders a bit as she looked over to him. "I'm just a simple girl, my parents were killed when I was young so I began training in the temple" She said softly, glancing over to him and shaking her head.

"Oh, well, sorry to hear..." He sighed, slowly putting a hand on her shoulder. "My story is kind of complex, but I had a brother, and we were orphans. We were adopted by a kind couple, but one day my brother went missing and I went to search for him. Then things happened and I was taken in by my master, who trained me to be what I am now."

"I see. Did you ever find him?"She asked, glancing over to him and tilting her head to the side curiously, wondering what had happened during his search to make him stop to be taken in by his master.

He shook his head as he moved his hand away from her shoulder. "No, never did. But..." He frowned slightly, looking down no the floor. "I know he's alive. It's weired, but I know he's out there somewhere..."

"Why did you stop looking for him?" She asked, hoping that he wouldn't be too upset with her asking so many questions about something that could be rather sensitive.

"Huh, because I couldn't find him. Plus, I was too weak back then." He shrugged and looked up back at the girl. "I was a timid boy back then, and my brother was the complete opposite of me." He then smiled softly, closing his eyes. "Knowing him, and also because of this feeling, I know he's alive."

"I see" She said, glancing over to him and smiling a bit. "Well... I hope that you can find him one day" she said as she got up and walked over to gaze out of a nearby window.

He simply sighed as he watched her walk towards the window. "Thanks, I guess..." He shrugged, and then reached his hand behind him to pull his sword from the sheath, and then held it before him, looking at the shiny metal. "In any case, that's the gist about me." He took a small cloth from the nearby table and began to clean the blade with it. A while later he looked up at the girl, raising his eyebrow. "Oh, if you don't mind, and if it's possible, can I have a look at this relic? I ask only out of curiosity." In truth, he wanted to confirm something, a feeling that had been bugging him for a while.

Nia glanced back to him and blinked curiously. "I... Suppose so" She said, knowing she wasn't really supposed to let anyone see or touch it, but she had to trust him if he was going to help her protect it.

Walking over to him with the box in hand, she slowly reached around to unclasp it and opened up the top. Inside would be a circular stone with markings engraved in the center. "The markings are supposed to be glowing, but the power isn't there"

He placed his sword to a side as he looked in the box she was holding, blinking once. No, it didn't seem familiar. "I see..." He said after a while, and then looked up at her with a smile. "Well, thanks for trusting me."

"I figured I had to, at least... If you're going to help me protect it" She said, closing the box once more and setting it down nearby. She climbed up into one of the beds and crawled under the sheets. "We should sleep though"

"Hmm?" He turned as she crawled into her bed, and nodded with a small sigh. He took his sword and sheathed it back before getting up and placing it to the side of the other bed. "Yeah, you're right, I guess..." With that, he climbed onto his bed and pulled the sheets up on him, lying on his side and facing her.

She glanced up at him and smiled a bit before she closed her eyes and let herself drift off to sleep. When morning came, she got to her feet and made her way over to a nearby mirror, pulling her hair back into a ponytail with the elastic near the bottom of it.

Ryu was already awake when the girl woke up; he was freshening up outside, washing his face in the cool morning air. He walked back into the room to see the girl doing her hair, and then smiled at her. "Morning, Nia. Hope you slept well." He then turned to leave the room again, but he added before that, "I'll send for breakfast. It's going to be a long day, it seems."

Nia glanced over to him as she heard him wake. Smiling, she nodded her head. "Good morning" She said softly, finishing off her hair and stretching her arms out into the air with a soft yawn. Breakfast sounded good, and at the thought of it, her stomach growled lightly, making her blush shyly and turn her attention away from him and to making sure they had everything they'd need to start off their trip.
