It had taken Kaura little time at all to leap from the decaying roof of the spire, and hurdle down to the tiled roof below. Her bare feet stung upon impact with the roof, causing her to whimper slightly in discomfort, but there was no time for anything more than that sign of weakness, not with but a few hours 'till sunset again. She started forward with that one thought running through her mind time and again, sunset. She ran from it, the directory where the sun dawned in the morning, seeking the home she had lost there. Nothing else ran through her mind, nothing else mattered.
She jumped easily down from the roof when she was sure no humans were watching, and darted into the trees, losing herself in the brush. Her race was exceptionally skilled at travelling through the tangled wood, and she was no exception to that. Her nimble feet picked out the best path, and her make-shift guard only caught on rare occasion, leaving a tiny bend branch and piece of grey finger to tell where she had been.
'Will my people accept me back?' She demanded, her chest tightening at the thought of being refused embassy by the elders. Her exile was only half voluntary, and she did not know how vindictive a people the Elders could be to those who crossed them.
She shook her head, and forced herself to continue. The sun beat down on her, strengthening her weary body and fending off exhaustion.
By the time night fell the castle had disappeared back into the mountainside, and she had already scaled straight up two cliff face's that she could not run around. She almost wished she could have gone East, the easy trek down the cliff side seemed so much easier.
