Dionysus' favorite time of the year had come around. The leaves on grape vines had started to fully emerge from their buds, along with other types of plants. The whole world is greening up, cheering the people with it. All sorts of festivities are going on for his feast day. One wealthy patron of Athens had seen fit to make one public fountain flow with wine instead of water. Luckily for the citizens of Greece Dionysus doesn't feel like driving any one to madness today.

Another wealthy patron of his is throwing a lovely party, with plenty of wine and food to go around for even the poorest people. Every level of society will be mixing together, a break from the strict rules that govern interaction.

For a moment, a beautiful black haired woman catches his eye, before disappearing into the crowd. He sets off in her direction, muttering apologies to the people he bumps into.

Even gods sometime have to resort to using cheesy pick up lines. "Excuse me miss, but could you give something back to me? You stole my brea th away the moment I saw you." The brown haired god grinned at the woman. Physically, Dionysus looks to be in his late twenties or early thirties.

RE: The love of gods

Dysis was enjoying the party that her father was throwing as she was allowed to move freely and keep the appearance that she was a loved member of her family, when in truth on her father was the only one that loved her other than her mother, but her mother was a slave and her grandmother hated her for it. She was usually treated like a slave, but tonight on the night of the festival in honor of her and her father's favored god she was treated the way her father wanted her to be treated. Her grandmother had been very against her being allowed to attend the party, but her father demanded it, and thus it was so.

As she made her way through the crowd of people she could feel the eyes on her. The eyes of men that would give their fortunes, or all they had to be with a woman of her stature. While her grandmother treated her poorly, she was still the only heir to her father's estate and her father made sure that his mother was well aware of that. He kept a watchful eye as his daughter roamed through the crowds and noticed when a man finally gathered the nerve to talk to her. He watched as his daughter laughed and decided to keep his eye on her just to assure that no one would try to hurt her.

"Why dear sir I was not aware that I stole your breath, and I seem to have misplaced it. Perhaps I could help you find it again, though." She said as she smiled. Her smile was bright and lifting. A refreshing break from the usually somber disposition of the people that lived in the city. Dysis was a refreshing beauty, just like the sunset after which she was named. The young avid worshiper of Dionysus was completely unaware that the very god that she worshiped with such passion was standing right in front of her, flirting with her. A thought that never would have crossed her mind.

RE: The love of gods

"Ah, such a sweet lady. That would please me greatly to have you help me find my breath again,' Dionysus chuckled, a light musical sound but also had a trace of hardiness to it. "I imagine a beauty such as you must have to help many a man find their breaths. My name is Dion." He held up his own wine cup in a salute to her before taking a drink.

RE: The love of gods

"Few men rarely get the pleasure, Dion. I am Dysis, daughter of the lord of this house. I'm rarely allowed out of the house, so this party is a bit of a treat for me. I'm usually only allowed to leave when father and I go to the gathering out in the clearing in the woods. My grandmother dislikes people seeing me with the family." Dysis said with a smile. She had come to grips with her grandmothers emotional abuse a long time ago and whether her grandmother liked it or not her father had married her mother, and she was his only heir. She returned his salute to him before drinking from her own glass as well. "Lord Dionysus provided us with a great harvest this year, did he not?" She asked as smiled. She sighed as she thought of Dionysus, the god that was rumored to be a very attractive man, perhaps not unlike the man standing in front of her. It was a well known fact that her father was not just rich but a very devout follower of Dionysus, as his daughter had become. "I'm grateful for his blessings, aren't you?" She asked as she took another drink trying to guide him off topic and see how focused he was on what he wanted.

RE: The love of gods

"Ah, how sad. There is a wide and beautiful world out there to be seen. I'm sure Dionysus is honored that your father lets you attend his worship gatherings. They tend to be marvelous times no matter what the time of year." Dionysus had found most of his lovers at such gathers, and he always does his best to bring them the utmost pleasure. "Oh? Why should such a pretty girl be hidden away so?" He took another sip, this time taking time to savor and sort out the flavors of the wine. Honey, with pine, maybe? "That he did." It feels strange to Dionysus to use he instead of I. "When the harvests are good and the seas calm and the land is in peace times every one is glad for what the gods do," Dionysus sighs. Dionysus looked around. "Surely some other fellows have landed their eyes on you. Perhaps at a gathering? They would be fools if they did not consider you a beauty and seek to gain you and your father's approval."

RE: The love of gods

"My mother was a slave when my father fell in love with her. My grandmother has viewed me as a stain on her reputation and her name ever since." She said with a smile as she tucked a piece of her beautiful black hair behind her ear. "As long as my grandmother is alive, I do what I can to appease her. I do my best to keep the peace in my family." She said with a smile. "I suppose the reason I enjoy Dionysus so much is that he doesn't discriminate. Everyone seems welcome and it doesn't matter where your from, you're all allowed to worship. The honesty of it all is very enjoyable." She said as she took another drink of her wine. "There are plenty of men that would want to gain our favor, but many of them are afraid of my grandmother." She said with a smile.

RE: The love of gods

"I see," Dionysus says gravelly. Dysis mother being a slave would leave a mark in the society. "It seems you are cherished dearly by your father though. You are right, Dionysus does not care. He just seeks to be loved, after all it must be so long when he has to spend time in the cold realm of Hades." Of course he is speaking about winter, when the vines die and he must wait to return. He could go to Hades, but he usually spent his time in an almost catatonic like state on Mount Olympus. "I am not afraid of most women. Mortal women he added silently to himself. "Like all wise men I fear the wrath of the mighty Hera, Artermis, and Athena. Surely your grandmother is not as scary as them?" Dionsys is of course teasing. No mortal woman could be as scary as any one of them when even just slightly annoyed. Or when any of the goddesses became irked for any reason for that matter.

RE: The love of gods

"My grandmother isn't a very terrifying woman in appearance. What's frightening is what she can do to a person's reputation. She is a vicious woman whose words are a more powerful weapon than a soldier's sword." She said with a sigh. Her grandmother had proven to her on multiple occasions that she could cut deeper with her than she ever could with any blade. Her grandmother had brought her tears on many an occasion over silly things, tonight though she was allowed to be herself. "I'm certain that she isn't nearly as terrifying as any of them, but luckily I've never incurred the wrath of Hera, or Artemis, or Athena. Unfortunately I have encountered my grandmothers. But tonight is not a night to speak of wrath, nor is it a night to think of the differences in our social standing. Tonight is a night to honor Dionysus, and make him proud." She said with a smile as she spoke to Dion.

RE: The love of gods

"That it is. Come, let dance to the wonderful music," the god laughs, setting his wine glass down on a nearby table before gently taking Dysis' glass from here and taking her hand. He swirled with her gracefully, enjoying the sight of her swirling ebony hair.

His statue stands on a pedestal made up out of gathered rocks. The statue itself had been carved out of wood, but the sculptor had gotten his features wrong. At least the decorative crown of vines and grapes around his head is right. Already the wine had started to flow, and the drummers had started to warm up. Dionysus strode through the crowd, pleased to see everyone having such a good time. His eyes widened in surprise when he caught sight of Dysis. She is every bit as beautiful as he remembered from the month before. "Ah, lady Dysis. I am pleased to see you," he says in a silky voice.

RE: The love of gods

Dysis was ecstatic as she made her way into the clearing. She loved the beauty of the meadow where the statue of Dionysus was centered. She felt at peace as she made her way through the crowds of people, separating herself from her father for a little bit. She was pleasantly surprised when Dion walked up to her and spoke. "Oh, Lord Dion, it's a pleasure to see you again." She said with a smile. "It's been some time since the celebration. I must say that I'm glad to see you here at the gathering though." She said with a smile. It was not often that a father would willing bring his daughter to a gathering for the god of wine and revelry, but Dysis and Marcus had a very close relationship, and he would much rather make sure his daughter was safe than have her sneaking out to one of these gatherings which could easily get out of hand. "How have you been of late?" She asked as she ran a hand through her ebony hair.

RE: The love of gods

"Yes, unfortunately I've been kept busy with business. Is your father and grandmother well?" Might as well get the formalities over with. Dionysus knows that after a while the manners won't matter. When the wine had time to intoxicate the followers all morals would fall away. The dancing would begin, putting them into a trance. Sometimes a young pair could be spotted slipping deeper into the woods. It's a fair bet that they aren't married, a taboo. Everything goes at these gatherings, including sometimes women running down a dear and killing with their bare hands then eating the meat raw afterwards. "I have been well. And yourself?" He looked up at the clear moon and the stars above them. "Your hair is like the beautiful night sky and your eyes like brilliant shining stars," he says as he looks back to her. "But I'm sure you've heard that line before. It is still true though." Dionysus gave her a dazzling smile.

RE: The love of gods

"My father is well, and my grandmother is as well as a woman her age could be. She's still bitter, but I do hope that we can reconcile before Hades comes to gather her soul." She said as she smiled gently. She felt rather comfortable in Dion's presence as she continued to talk to him. Her father seemed to trust him, even if only just a little, as he had not tried to kill the man yet, or intervene. He watched as his daughter smiled a great beaming smile that could have put the very sun to shame as Dion complimented her. "Such a compliment coming from a man as handsome as yourself is a great compliment indeed." She said as she looked into his deep eyes. She found Dion to be a rather attractive and intellectual man, that seemed to spark her interested in all the right moments.

RE: The love of gods

Dionysus nodded. "It is good to be on good terms with family before one crosses the river Styx. The god looked mock surprised. "Me handsome? If you say so." Just then the drums begin to get louder, signifying that the gathering is starting. "It sounds like the fun is starting. Have you ever connected to Dionysus?"

A few of the participants are already warming up as the others gathering into a circle around them. Dionysus offers Dysis his arm to join the circle. He wonders how much wine she had so far... Perhaps later he would test how far he could go with her out of sight of her father. Of course he will not make love with, that would ruin her reputation, leading to her father never letting him see her again. At least not in the guise of being Lord Dion. Dionysus wondered if a gathering like this is where Lord Marcus had met Dysis' mother.

RE: The love of gods

"No I can't say that I've ever had that pleasure." She said as they made their way to the gathering. One thing was well known through out the frequent goers to this particular gathering, and it was that the way Dysis could dance, the way should could move and bend her body could drive many a man insane with desire, but they all knew better than to touch. She was constantly supervised by her father whether he was right next to her or on the other side of the clearing, he always seemed to have an eye on her. She smiled as the drums began to pick up in their tempo and she heard the other instruments joining in, creating a rather captivating melody that seemed to speak of the very wild they were currently out in. She didn't need to feel the grip of Dionysus himself in order to feel the very breath of the music move through her.

She stood by for a bit as things picked up but the others seemed eager to watch her dance and as the tempo slowed to a halt Dysis found herself knelt on the ground with her arms outstretched in front of her. It was at this moment that the music started again. A rougher, more guttural song drifted throughout the clearing as Dysis began to move, and it was at this moment that the festivities truly began to pick up. The girl moved as though the music was the very blood in her veins. The fluidity of her movements despite the fact that she jerked her body to the music was astounding, and at this moment Dysis looked truly happy, as though she felt as free as the animals in the surrounding forests.

RE: The love of gods

Mortal music has it's own charms. Dionysus stays in the circle while Dysis dances, letting the music wash over him. He tilts his head a little bit when she kneels. Such freedom and wild spirit within her... Dionysus shifted his stance a little bit, the feeling of heat starting to gather in his groin and chest. Some of the other observing men where also shifting positions, their ravenous eyes never leaving Dysis' form. Even in his mind Dionysus wonders what it would be like to feel her skin under her hand, make her move with carnal pleasure. Dionysus lets Dysis feel part of the power that comes from the surrounding flora and fauna. An awareness of all the life nearby; everything that lives in the ground, to the trees, to the birds that live in top of the trees. Just a few seconds, but something Dysis would remember none the less.

RE: The love of gods

Dysis felt her breath catch in her throat as she was suddenly aware of everything around her, a heightened sense that she was not used to feeling. It quickly came and went, and she continued with the dance as the other women began to join in, but the pure fluid movement that Dysis seemed to produce with ease none of the other women could reproduce. It was not hard to pick Dysis out of the crowd of dancing women, with her piercing blue eyes like crystal clean water, and her hair like the night sky itself. When the dance was finally over many of the other people began to dance, the celebration having made it's way into full swing. Dysis laughed with her melodic voice as she made her way back over to Dion, still riding on the high that she got while dancing. She absolutely loved the adrenaline rush that she got when she danced, and only hear was she able to dance to her full potential. "So, did you enjoy it?" She asked as she stood in front of Dion, waiting to her his opinion on her dancing.

RE: The love of gods

Dion watched as Dysis came back towards him, her movements like a cat's. "Yes, very much. Your dancing was exquisite." Dionysus spotted a pair of young lovers slipping off into the woods. He looked to Lord Marcus, who currently has his back turned to him. "Your father seems to have taken a liking to me. He would have chased me off other wise, would he not?" He stepped in closer to her, wanting to test her limits.

RE: The love of gods

"I'd say it means that he trusts you enough to give you a few moments alone with me. Be careful though, he can be a vicious man if given cause." She said with a smile as she casually draped herself on Dion's arm. "I am glad that he trusts you, if only just a little." She said her eyes sparkling with the adrenaline rush. She could only hope that Dion would stay in her father's good favor. It wasn't often that she met a man that she would consider being with instead of havin to worry about some bogus arranged marriage that would be her father's attempt at keeping her in society's good graces. She could only hope that things would play out as she wanted them to.

RE: The love of gods

Dionysus beamed as Dysis draped herself over his arm. "I am sure your father wants only whats best for you." Just to be daring, Dionysus leans over slightly to be able to place a kiss on Dysis' forehead. "You're so beautiful," he says, his warm breath brushing against her ear and hair. He lingers just a little to long, taking in her scent. No one close to them pays attention. They are just two young people testing boundaries. Even if Marcus said he couldn't see Dysis, Dionysus could just change his mind himself or enlist the help of some of his "cousins" to do it for him.

RE: The love of gods

"I'm glad you think so, but please don't think I am as easily won over as many of the other women here. I'm a much harder woman to catch." She said with a giggle as she let go of his arm and took a few steps back. She enjoyed his touch, but she also enjoyed the feel of the chase. The utter high that she got as a man tried his hardest to make her his, by attempting to impress her or woo her as if she were any other woman. She couldn't help but try though. The very idea of enticing a man like Dion made her skin crawl with excitement.

RE: The love of gods

Dionysus smiled and laughed. "But that makes it more fun. The victory if the chase leads there more...fulfilling." When not spending his time on Mount Olympus, Dionysus had chased a few women. The young single ones he wouldn't put to much effort into, making sure that they could still marry another man that would take care of them. Sometimes he even brings the pair together. But Dysis is different. He would make her his, teach her the pleasure a man can bring a woman. And sometime or another, reveal his godhood to her. Unlike his father Dionysus stays faithful to any woman companion he takes as long as they are faithful to him or as long as their relationship lasts. An idea entered Dionysus' mind.

"How about a game, Dysis? A bet, if you will." He paused for a second, letting her wait for his next words. "If you take off running, down the path so there is little chance of you tripping and falling, and I catch you before you run out of breath, I get to kiss you. If run out of breath without me catching you, well that's up to you." Dionysus spread his hands out to show his openness to her suggestions.

RE: The love of gods

Dysis smiled as she considered what she could possibly want from Lord Dion. As she thought she had a wondrous idea. "If I win then you must dance with me." She said wih a smirk. She enjoyed the idea of getting to dance with Dion. It was an opportunity that she rarely got with most men. "Cath me if you can." She said as she took off down the path. She made it her goal to not be caught. She really enjoyed the idea of the chase after all.

RE: The love of gods

"Fair enough." Dionysus tensed, waiting for her to take off. He could run a like the swiftest gazelle when necessary. Just for fun he lets her get a little bit of a lead before taking off. He trails slightly after her, letting her think she has the lead. Like Dysis he enjoys the chase as well.

The path ahead curves slightly, which would slow Dysis down a little bit. Dionysus waits to see how she will adjust to this change in stride.

RE: The love of gods

Dysis was smart in her choice of direction. She knew that he'd chosen the path because he didn't wish for harm to befall her, but she was more interested in winning, and things being interesting than she was in not tripping. Instead of taking the curve in the path she continued on straight, right into the forest. She was used to the contours of the forest, as she used to wander and play in them all the time when she was younger. She maneuvered through the trees and brush with a practiced ease, and a smile gracing her lips as the wind caressed her skin. She had yet to tire, and her breath had yet to leave her lungs.

She was slightly worried that he might be upset with her for veering from the path, but she just couldn't help herself. The idea of possibly winning because of a slight course change was a rather tempting offer. She was quite the smart girl, after all. In a straight shot she had no chance to beat such a well built man such as Dion, but she did have a bit more chance when there were constant obstacles in his way, thought they could become a possible hindrance to her as well.

RE: The love of gods

The young looking lord gave a laugh as he saw the direction Dysis was taking. He doesn't break his stride as he goes after her. He's got a bit more practice running through the woods then her, usually in the company of a few maenads and satyr or two if they live in the area. No matter that she had diverged from the path. He would get his kiss no matter where she goes. That just leaves the question of what she would do with the log up ahead. Certainly he can jump it, just like the best of deer. Would she go around it?
