The fighting reached its chaotic peak, the Hellguards only barely managing to hold their lines with great casualties, the ground was blocked from view by blood and gore, dozens of mutated and Hellguard corpses lining where the fighting was thickest. Yet, the Hellguards held, kept their unity, fighting side by side unwavering against the chaotic flood, halberdiers pinning the enemies down for the sword-bearers to finish them off while crossbows kept on firing the ones that kept entering the buildings at the entrance. The ranks of madmen were barely thinning.
Morr meanwhile found himself about to be overwhelmed by the number of enemies that had answered his taunts, his breastplate dented deeply, forcing every breath to be made with labor as the battle's exhaustion did its part. Ramming his blade straight through the skull of another beast, another madman barrelled into his side, the blade denied to be let go ripped sideways from the other creature, toppling him as it began to punch its massive fists onto his down figure while it resolutely slammed its trunk-like leg onto his sword arm.
Under the sound of his armor's metal screeching in defiance to the beasts's inhuman strength, Morr answered in kind, slammed his metal-encased knee into the beast's groin, it opening its fanged mouth to merely laugh at the attempt, before he rammed his free fist directly into its maw, crushing through teeth as he forcefully made his entrance. While the beast looked at him in a shocked daze over his audacity, he propelled his hand further, tearing through its throat before he finally managed to grab something, he pulled with all his might, the creature's following roars turning to bloody choking as he brutally ripped out its spine through its throat.
Twitching, the corpse fell on him, burying him under a mass of flesh and muscle, before it was pulled away by another beast to take its predecessor's place.
As the jars were swallowed by the demon's ever-open and ever-hungering maws, breaking and releasing the foul-smelling fuming red solution, the beast's numberless mouths cried out in wordless pain as its internals and vital core of gold was brutally, rapidly corroded, tentacles twitching in agony as its screams grew in volume by the second, the mutants near it falling to the ground in equal pain.
The madman that was trying to choke Morr to death while he was prone on the ground was equally affected, it screaming thrice-tongued alongside demon in its demise "THE CALL! THE CALL! I CAN HEAR THE CALL!" before its skull exploded in a shower of blood and brainmatter.
The numbers of madmen notably lessened, some with their heads erupting like the one at Morr, others merely falling to the ground, spasming and screaming, while the rest was weakened in both resolve and aim, quickly falling to the remaining Hellguards or tearing eachother apart.
