The house was pretty impressive. Panoramic and unobstructed views of the Bel Air Country club and located on Lower Perugia Way, it had a grand 2 storey entry hall with a sweeping double staircase which opened onto a vast living roam with an open fireplace and parquet floors. The entirety of Tom's boat could probably have fit inside the room with room to spare. The household butler led them through the entrance lobby and into the lounge. Mrs. Reynolds was standing near the fireplace. She turned to look at them was they were led in. When she told them where her daughter was, the butler then led Evie out. From the lounge, opposite the entrance from the entrance lobby were a pair of double glass doors which opened onto an expansive terrace. From there, steps led down from both the left and the right to an outdoor pool and patio area set out with a table and chairs and sun umbrella. Unseen by both Tom and Evie were the formal dining room, the would panelled library and the gourmet kitchen with top of the range appliances. There was also a screening room with a bar, a gyms, a sauna and a steam gower plus and oversized guest suite. A master bedroom with dual marble baths, two other bedroom suits and a large staff room. All of it was set in a little under a acre of land with, in addition to the pool had a tropical waterfall a koi pond and a full putting green. Evie was looking around picking out those she could see as she walked down the steps to where Britney Reynolds was just climbing out of the pool. By the time Evie reached her, she was drying herself off with a large white towel. She seemed relaxed enough, but Evie wouldn't exactly have called her happy and when she introduced herself and showed the girl her badge, the girl certainly seemed to gain something of an attitude. Evie didn't react. She asked her about how well she knew Lauren, did they spend any time together, would she describe her as a friend. Britney's answers were short and sweet. Not very. Not at all. Definitely not.
"She worked for my dad... some junior grade staffer who answered the phone. She wasn't exactly a member of the family... I mean... what happened to her is pretty bad... but... " She shrugged as she poured herself a lemonade and sat herself down in one of the loungers.
"I heard that... that you got into a bit of argument with her at the party last night."
"What. No. Who told you that?" Evie couldn't help but laugh a little. "Just about everyone at the party."
"No. It.. it wasn't an argument. She ... she was just... she... I wasn't really listening that much... it was something about some campaign strategy that she thought Dad should run but my mom and Ron Shipman thought it was a pretty stupid idea. She wanted Ron or my mom to ask my Dad about it but... but they said they wouldn't. Ron was in charge of my Dad's election strategy and they had things pretty much decided."
"And then what happened?"
"Nothing. She went and got another drink. I didn't see her again all night."
"Okay... well... thank you for your time Ms Reynolds. I'll let you get back to your... whatever is was you were going to do today." And with that Evie headed back towards the house and up the steps where the butler was waiting for her.
