Matthew smiled like a combination of the cheshire cat from alice in wonderland and a fox about to fetch dinner.
"Eeeeexcellent."
he hissed jokingly.
"Unfortunately we only have two Kalashnikovs and they're in use by Jeff and I. We do have a .22 Henry you can use though. It's perfectly quiet with excellent range and accuracy and very light weight as well."
Jeff nodded in agreement, effectively giving his consent for the new-comer to borrow his old rifle.
"I'll go get it. I'm about to head out again anyway. You can come if you want."
He went upstairs and removed his brother's lever action .22 Henry from his dresser, grabbing two boxes of .22LR and bringing them downstairs.
He explained how to properly load the tubular, underbarrel magazine then handed the rifle to Niki along with the ammunition then retrieved a black backpack from his sister's room, packing it with a few cans of food and two bottles of water and a lighter, leaving the rest of the bag empty for supplies he'd scavenge along the way.
His brother handed him a holstered Glock-17 and Matthew looped his belt through the mount of the holster, wearing it on his hip and picking up his rifle, loading it and racking it then slinging it as usual.
