Matthew smiled like a combination of the cheshire cat from alice in wonderland and a fox about to fetch dinner.
"Eeeeexcellent."
he hissed jokingly.
"Unfortunately we only have two Kalashnikovs and they're in use by Jeff and I. We do have a .22 Henry you can use though. It's perfectly quiet with excellent range and accuracy and very light weight as well."
Jeff nodded in agreement, effectively giving his consent for the new-comer to borrow his old rifle.
"I'll go get it. I'm about to head out again anyway. You can come if you want."
He went upstairs and removed his brother's lever action .22 Henry from his dresser, grabbing two boxes of .22LR and bringing them downstairs.
He explained how to properly load the tubular, underbarrel magazine then handed the rifle to Niki along with the ammunition then retrieved a black backpack from his sister's room, packing it with a few cans of food and two bottles of water and a lighter, leaving the rest of the bag empty for supplies he'd scavenge along the way.
His brother handed him a holstered Glock-17 and Matthew looped his belt through the mount of the holster, wearing it on his hip and picking up his rifle, loading it and racking it then slinging it as usual.

((Okay guys, it's me MonsterBerry, I had to make a new account b/c MonsterBerry locked up and it's been hell trying to unlock it so I just made a new one. So I'll be picking my character up from this one :) ))

Haley nodded as she listened and watched everybody, taking her seat back on the floor beside the couch.
"I do very well with outside work actually." She spoke, remembering the times she would mow the lawn and weed-eat for her family.
She sighed. "I'm not gun savvy at all though, I know how to hold, take safety off, point and shoot." That's about it, everyone knows atleast that much in Louisiana though." She said with a small half smile as a small memory of her step-dad shooting cranes away from the pond in the backyard came to her mind.
It would make her laugh whenever he did that in the morning because little shells, or casings, would fly from the side of his small rifle and land around the table and sometimes in her glass of milk.

"I'd love to help with the garden and watching the children though." She said softly, playing with her shoelace.

Elizabeth giggled at Matt's creepy little laugh. In some way, he reminded her of her dead ex...well the good parts that is.
She pushed that thought from her mind, trying to stay focused.
When he asked about the fire arms, she was a little hesitant. She had used a gun before, but it was more of a hunting rifle with her dad when he took her hunting on time.
"Well, I know how to use a hunting rifle a little. That's what you get for having a dad and an ex who loved to hunt"
She giggled, looking down and the word "ex"
But, I would love to cook and maybe help Haley out with the kids if need be. I used to babysit a lot"

Elizabeth took to sitting by Haley now. She thought of her sister when she looked at her, and she felt a closeness to her. Everyone needed each other in these times, and it was good for her to have another girl that she could truly relate too.

"Should'a gone with the zombies..."
Hannah muttered teasingly,
"They're waaay nicer than Hope and Luke when they're hungry."
Jaime giggled and Matthew remained serious.
"Ok then. Haley, Elizabeth you two will be staying here then. You can each cook or work the garden with dad as needed and help with the kids the rest of the time. Meanwhile I,"
he stood up and shrugged into his MOLLE Vest,
"-will be finding more bullets, beans and bandaids. Let's go Niki."

Elizabeth smiled softly. She welcomed the little humor this family had about the situation.
"Well, I've dealt with kids there age before. Besides, I'd rather deal with these 2 hungry cuties than those gross zombies anyday"
She grinned, hugging the two little kids.
She froze when she saw Matthews serious face.It was hard, and she felt like she couldn't ease up.
She just nodded in agreement with him, getting up to go into the kitchen with his mother.
Elizabeth turned back around and looked at the 2 getting ready to leave.
"Come back safe"
She smiled before turning towards the kitchen.

Nikki had slung the riffle onto her back and was ready to when she heard Matthew call out to her. She hurried over to him and said "So do we have a particular destination in mind or are we just gonna go rogue until we find something salvageable?" while punching his arm lightly. He reminded her of her older brother, Alex., and she couldn't help but feel a bit closer to him than anyone else in the house, even the girls.

Matthew smiled, holding the door for Niki,
"Pretty much. I know a few little places to check out here and there. Plus we might find some other survivors."
he stepped outside and climbed back into the truck, setting his rifle next to him and starting the engine.
Within a minute they were heading out the long, gravel driveway, Matthew's eyes constantly sweeping the trees for danger.
"So, Niki. How'd you end up in Tennessee?"
he inquired casually, relaxing slightly as they reached the open road.

Haley watched them leave, giving a small wave at them as they exited the home.

"well...Is there anything that needs to be done?" She asked as she climbed to her feet and have her legs a nice pat, looking to Matthew's dad.

"Not at the moment."
Hugh replied, sitting back on the futon.
"Hope and Luke are hungry."
Hannah offered, pushing her mostly eaten plate of spaghetti over.
Hope clumsily scooped a few noodles onto a fork but dropped them on the way to her open mouth.
Luke just watched her for a minute. He would've giggled had he not had the same issue with...fine motor skills.

Haley shook her head, she surprisingly was not very hungry.
She couldnt help herself however, while watching the small girl try and eat spaghetti, but let a laugh escape.

"Here try this." She offered and gently took the fork and spun the noodles around the prongs as she was taught.

"This may be easier." She smiled.
