Alec had awaited this day sense he had been a small boy his dark red eyes watched the sunset slowly casting its dying rays across the painted cloud which slowly faded into gray with the suns passing. Once the sun was gone Alec dropped from the cliff he had been standing on that looked out over the city. The noise rushing wind past his slightly pointed ears filled him with a thrill only one of his kind could feel, twisting in the Air he changed his wings caught the wind slowing him as the change finished what had been a man was now a powerful red scaled dragon. His wings flapped lazily to keep him aloft as he glided silently through the twilight toward the palace. Its battlements and towers flew the the family crest of his blood enemy, anger flared in his chest making him want to tear down the castle but he resisted the urge. Near enough to his destination he began to change back into a man he landed on one of the many balconies but this one was special in this one laid his target.

He waited out on the balcony for his target to arrive in her chambers then he would strike. Alec had learned the value of patience his dark red eyes watched the stars for a short time before he saw his reflection of the polished marble. His dark red eyes glowed in the darkness showing some of his ruggedly handsome features, his long brown hair was whipped about by the light breeze that carried the smell of wood smoke from the city. He was well toned and muscled a gleaming example of a man he wore little armor and the clothes he did wear were meant for desert climates but the cold was not his concern he watched and waited for his target and then his people would be avenged.

He remembered his mother telling him how they had been attacked by the humans their people slaughtered for no reason. His mother had instilled in him the hate and sense of loss she had felt at losing her people and now Alec felt as if he had been there to see his family butchered like mindless cattle. It had all been for her to protect her his kind had been sentenced to oblivion but now they would weep at their failure and justice for their crime would be paid. Alec waited occasionally rolling his shoulders as they itched in anticipation to do what he had come to do.

Trisha gave a sigh as she sat on her throne lower than her two parents. The lords were within the thrown room speaking on her brother's departure and how they hope he will bring more back to the country on his return. She was upset as it was, her younger brother was out and about the world as she wasn't even allowed to leave the castle grounds. It made her so angry with her parents as the nobles about her spoke her mind was just screaming at her as she sat there listening to it all. At how amazing her brother was yet she had been here all her life studying everything in the library that they could find. She had amazing knowledge on things her brother didn't even know about yet because his traveled his word will hold greater value than her own. She was still older then her sixteen year old brother. Only by a year and a half yet still no one looked to her unless it was to ask her to leave.

Sitting there listening to it had her nerves fried as she finally stood glaring to her parents as she gave a bow leaving without so much as a word to the court. She didn't care for them anyway. Each and every time she was asked for her opinion on a matter she would give it only for them to do the exact opposite of what she said. Truly it drove her insane yet as she walked away she heard footsteps coming after her. "Trisha stop!' her mother commanded as trisha gave a groan. She could see her bedroom door just around the corner when she stopped. "Yes mother?" she asked as she turned her emerald eyes to her mother's brown ones. "What gives you the nerve to leave in such a manner" her mother scorned as she gave a groan. "Mother its not like you needed me there. After all you don't need Derick there do you!' she shouted as her mother's eyes suddenly softened. "Child is this what this is about?" she asked as she didn't wait. "Your brother is finally becoming a man it is normal for him to travel into the world. You are a lady of the court and crown. Traveling is not something you should do" she stated as Trisha's eyes went hard. "Yes well when you changed your mind on that I'll come out" she said twirling around her long hair brushing her mother back as she stormed into her room slamming and locking the door. She was utterly pissed that she didn't even notice another being there as she picked up a book on her dresser and threw it to the bed.

There she was his target the Princess of this kingdom. His dark red eyes took in her figure she was a beauty that was no mistake but this was no time to admire. She had not noticed him he slowly moved toward her as he pulled the bottle from his hip satchel, he did not know why but a part of him was in awe of her. "Such a temper for someone so beautiful." he whispered when he had closed half the distance between them. He now stood on the richly decorated carpet which covered a large portion of her room, he looked at her now his dark red eyes and cat like pupils allowed him to see her perfectly. The scent of her tickled a primal part in his mind a part of him that wanted to ravage her here and now but he pushed that part him down as it caused him to growl. "I would rather you come quietly princess. I would hate to damage you." he said as polite a manner as he could manage.

Here she stood the child his kind had been massacred to protect, in some part of him he could feel the same but it was outweighed by the anger and hate he had for what her people had done to his. He watched her waiting for her to make that obvious attempt to flee to scream for the guards as if they could do anything the only reason her people had defeated his had been they had attacked in the night. Now he looked at her if she could see any of that hate and contempt he felt for her kind it would show in his eyes, "What will it be? Quietly or the hard way?" he asked taking a few more steps closer to her.

Trisha was shocked as she heard a voice behind her. Whipping around her eyes went wide as her's met his. She didn't know how he got there yet the look in his eyes told her this wasn't good. "Who do you think you are being here!" she shouted to him as she picked up another book and threw it to him. She kept reaching for things to throw at him hoping that maybe she could land a good hit and knock the guy out yet as she noticed that there was something different about him. She wasn't sure what it was but something told her it wasn't anything good that much she was sure of. "Stay away from me" she shouted to him once more as she backed away from him.

He sighed as he dodged the books she tossed at him though he started to smile, "Then its the hard way." he said and with inhuman speed closed the distance between them as someone pounded on the door. He uncorked the bottle as he did and wrapped an arm around her he stood at a good 6'4" so he towered over her frame. For all his anger he was very gentle though firm as he tried to get the bottle near her nose it would quickly knock her out and then he would easily fly off with her.

"Princess are you alright." came the voice of a guard as he tried to open the door finding it locked he pounded on it louder and shouted, "Princess Trisha are you there?" he shouted the sound muffled by the door.

Alec growled as he wrestled with the Princess to subdue her, "This is quickly becoming more trouble than it should." he hissed through gritted teeth not from strain but from restraining himself not to hurt her.

Trisha was shocked when she suddenly felt him grab hold of her. She hadn't even seen him move towards her. Eyes wide as she gave a scream from the shock of him being so fast. The guard gave her hope as she heard the banging. Though soon as she felt the bottle under her nose she didn't think twice as she inhaled the substance she was slowly going limp as she gripped his arm trying to keep herself up as well as awake. She fought it off yet as it finally took effect she went limp in his arms her head hung limp as her hair hit the ground as she did.

Alec felt her go limp and tossed the bottle away it smashed on the floor just as the guards burst into the room, Alec looked at them for a brief moment before sprinting for the balcony the princess in his arms. The Guards shouted after him but he paid it no mind at he reached the railing of the balcony he quickly leapt from the railing after placing a boot on it. Beginning the change brought the same thrill as it had before though now he had his prize which he clutched in his clawed forefoot as he roared his defiance and challenge to the kingdom upon succeeding in capturing the princess. The flight was a long one his wings flapped as he flew faster than any bird toward the rising sun which bathed in warm light as it painted the clouds in bright colors.

The Flight took half the night and day to bring them to his home which was high in mountains reaching his cave he started the transformation once more as he landed. She went from being grasped in his forefoot to being in his arms as she had been when he had taken off, he proceeded into his home it was quite nice even if it was a cave. He gently laid her on a bed in one of the chambers that lead off from the entrance, it was nice bed in fact the room had everything it need to look like it belonged in a palace. After he had laid her on her bed he left her, he had no fear of her trying to escape the only way out was through where he had come in and unless she had wings she would plummet to her death. He had grown up in this cave his mother had passed from the world when he was only fifteen leaving him alone in the world, he now waited sitting in his comfortable chair and opening one of his books to pass the time. Now at eighteen years he was quite capable of taking care of himself though it was a lonely existence, he continued to read and wait for her to rise which would not be long now.

Trisha gave a groan as her head pounded against her eyes. She shook her head as her hand came up to rub her temples trying to ease some of the pain that was growing only as she started to truly wake up she realized this wasn't her bed under her. While it was soft it was a little firmer than her own, with that her eyes shot open to see the walls of the cave. Her mind searched for the memories of what had happened as she remembered the male from before and his speed. Her mind kept reeling in at the fact she was no doubt not in the castle though the bedding was nice she knew it wasn't right. She stood using the foot board of the bed for support as she found her body still tired in a way she wasn't use too. Still she pushed on and moved towards the exit only to find the same male reading a book, yet she couldn't stop the scream as she saw him there falling back to land on her ass she looked to him fear clearly in her eyes.

When he heard her scream he looked up from his book and put it down as he stood, "Welcome to my home your majesty." he said bowing respectfully though his tone was anything but. "Your reaction is most gratifying." he went on, "Did you enjoy your rest?" he asked as he started to approach her. He was not surprised at her reaction far from it he had expected worse for to run for the exit of the cave and for him to have to save her. "If you would like to flee there is the exit." he pointed out with a wicked smile spreading over his face, he stopped a few feet away from her as he watched her. She in the light she was even more stunning than before. "My name is Alec." he said introducing himself at last, his dark red eyes watched her waiting to see what she would do next.

Trisha really didn't know what to think as she looked to him wondering just what was going on. "Why am I here?' she asked him as she couldn't understand that she was the reason his kind had been killed. No one had told her this as it had been while she was in her mother's stomach that the King heard of the prophecy and sent the troops out. She was only a year younger than him yet she her gut told her that he would be much stronger than she ever dreamed of being. Still as she heard him speak of the exit she did just that scrambling to get up and rushed to the mouth of the cave. Only as she saw the edge she stopped in time to fall over the edge yet close enough as her hand reached out grabbing it holding her self there as she screamed out the wind blowing her hair about as she swayed with it.

Calmly with no sense of urgency he strolled over to where she hung off the edge, "Quite a nasty fall isn't it?" he asked speaking over the rushing wind. He reached down and pulled her up gently and with one hand, "How easy it would be." he said glaring at her. His eyes softened as he looked at her and he placed her down on the solid stone, "If I were lesser Dragon." he muttered. He lead her back inside and sat her down in his chair, "Tell me what do you know of the Massacre of the Dragons?" he asked her. He was curious to what lies the King had made up to justify the genocide of his people, he watched her his eyes indifferent and cold. He wanted to see her face when he told her the truth about why his people had been slaughtered. He sat on the foot rest his elbows on his knees as he rest his chin in his hands like a child waiting to hear a bed time story from his favorite book. His eyes did not move from hers did not waver but bored into her own as if he was attempting to gaze into her soul as he waited for her to speak.

As he strolled up and took her into his hands once more she knew this really was the worst that could happen. Yet as he spoke and she noticed his eyes soften on her she felt that maybe it wasn't exactly the worst. Though as she was put back down she tried to calm herself as her hands went to dusting off her white dress. Yet as he moved back into the cave she moved with him as the wind bit against her skin making her cold. "The massacre?' she asked him before moving to sit down as her arms came to rub themselves. "Well father told me that there was a threat and while at the moment couldn't be seen it was best to take care of it before it got out of control" she said as she shook her head her eyes showed how she had always disagreed with that statement. To her killing someone who had done nothing yet held the chance of doing something without killing yourself first was stupid.

Alec stood and laughed it was deep and rolling it echoed through the cave resounding off the walls till it sounded like thousands of him were laughing. It was not a laugh that one would hear after a amusing story or joke no it was mocking and scornful, "Your father could not come up with a better excuse?" he asked as the laughter slowly died. "He could not find a way to logically justify the genocide of my people." he paused as he laughed again strolling away from her as he laughed it quickly died as he turned to look at her his eyes glowed with a hate and a malice that if it could would have set her ablaze. "My people made no threats, no secret plots or even met in dark alleys to whisper of any such thing. My people were loyal allies to your kingdom, we lived in peace and there were many Humans who intermarried with our kind. Till the King your father was summoned before the Oracle and when one is summoned to the Oracle one does not ignore it. So your father went and there he heard how his first born would die at the hands of a Dragon." he now walked up to her and looked down at her he seemed to grow larger his eyes glowing as they looked down at her.

"Fear gripped the heart of the King and out of fear when all the world laid in the embrace of sleep he sent his army and had all the Dragons massacred if you had Dragon blood in your veins you were not spared. My people, every last male, woman and child born and unborn were killed, except me and my mother who escaped." he went on he his wings unfurled blocking the light from the exit and the lamps in the cave surrounding her in darkness his eyes offering the only light as they gazed down at her mere inches from her his hot breath rolled across her face, "That child which my people were sacrificed to protect from this fate...was YOU." he finished his wings slowly vanished and his eyes returned to normal as he continued to watch her to see how the revelation of what had been done for her sake hit home.

As he started to laugh she was shocked her eyes searching over him as she tried to figure out just what was wrong with the man before her. No matter as he stood and spoke of her father she wasn't sure what to think or say. She felt a little lost as he spoke again this time as his eyes meet hers the hate there bore straight to her soul as she couldn't believe how much where there. Listening to what he said her eyes went wide and pain started to grip her heart. She had always sought out freedom and relief for royal life thinking that was all there. Yet as she listened to his words she realized that her living had been at the cost of hundreds as tears formed in her eyes she stood. "Then what do you have me do! What? Should I let you kill me? What just to let the reason he did this become true? what should I kill my own family? How about I just kill myself?" she asked as her voice cracked with each question she asked him. As she reached the final one she had tears streaming down her face yet suddenly her face went pale as she felt extreme pain in her chest. Her breathing became irregular falling to her knees as she struggled just to breathe.

Seeing the tears he frowned he felt sad for her as she spoke when she dropped to her knees his look of sadness melted into one of concern even as in some part of his mind told him to leave her he ignored it. He knelt on one knee beside her and put an arm around her, what was he doing why was he concerned for her what had happened to the hate to malice that he had felt before. He made comforting sounds to her the same his mother had when he had awoken in the night from a nightmare. "Its alright." he said his voice calm and comforting he held her in his arms as he knelt beside her trying to calm her, his mind screamed at him his emotions were in conflict as he comforted the person his people had been destroyed to protect. In his heart he felt that same urge to protect her and comfort as he had when he had first seen her, lifting her into his arms he carried to her to her room and laid her on the bed. He left her there then and sat on the edge of his home looking out over the snow capped mountains that stretched out before him. He ran his hands through his hair as he tried to make sense of why he had suddenly felt the need to comfort her, he was silent as he went about the chores he had settled into as he lived alone.

As she knelt down to her she felt lightheaded and dizzy yet as she could feel his arm come around her she was shocked to hear him give such words of comfort. In her mind she had truly thought he hated her, then again she was sure if it had been her in his place she would feel the same. As he picked her up she actually started to calm as her body returned to normal that attack over she felt even more drained than before as her eyes started to shift shut as he turned to leave. "I'm sorry" she whispered before falling asleep there her hands gripping the sheets as she turned on her side. She felt weak and useless just like everyone told her she was.

Alec checked on her time and again he made sure she was asleep before he went to the back of the cave and opened a secret door that lead out of the cave. Even here in the mountains where many claimed no plant could grow there was a place on the mountain where this was untrue. Stepping out of the cave Alec came to what some might call a valley it was pleasant place, a small creek gurgled among stones and flowers bloomed in the sun filling the air with there scents. Alec approached two stones that stood side by side, along they way he picked flowers till he reached the stones. A vase stood before one of the stones filled with dead flowers he pulled the dead flowers out of the vase and replaced them with the ones he had just picked. He looked at the stones kneeling before them in silence then he stood and left the stones returning to the cave. He went into his room pulling off his armor and laying on his bed, "What am I going to do?" he asked himself more than any one as he slowly shifted into his waking dreams.

When he stirred it was morning and hunger gnawed at him, getting up he went to the fire place and stoked it. Then he stoked the cooking fire and began to cook breakfast, he still had no idea what he was going to do though the act of cooking distracted him enough that he gave it little thought. He cooked two meals for him and her it was simple meal but filling, he took the bread from the oven and begun to set the table. Soon it was laid out with all the trimmings fresh honey and sweet cakes along with the porridge and slivers of bacon.

Trisha started to wake up as she smelt the food cooking. Her body feeling stronger this time around still her heart pained with the thought of what happened because of her. She tried to shake her head as she thought of it. Pushing such thoughts away seemed to be harder than she wished it to be. Yet as she got up she moved slowly back into the main room. She felt the warmth of the fire and moved towards it as it seemed he was cooking over another one. When he started to plate things she was shocked when he had two plates instead of the one for just himself. "morning" she said as she kept her eyes down on the fire as she said it. Truly she wasn't sure what to say, she was sure he hated her and couldn't blame him for it either.

"Morning." he replied looking at where she stood looking into the fire, "Are you hungry?" he asked as he watched her. He tried to act kind over how he had behaved the other day it was difficult not feeling that hate he had been raised to feel, he pushed it aside he had done enough even though what his mother had once demanded be the price of Justice he felt he could not go through with. "I'm sorry for yesterday." he muttered finding it harder than it should have been to drag out the words, "If you want I'll bring it to your room." he offered not wishing to force his company upon her. She still wore the dress from yesterday and he knew she would need new clothes other plans formed in his mind but they would wait to see if she even brightened to the idea of dining with him. He admired her beauty marred only by the sadness that what he had told her had put there, he watched and waited to see what she decided.

As he spoke to her she could tell there was a change there yet it almost seemed strained at times. She closed her eyes letting her mind think on it as he asked if she was hungry she gave a nod to that but the thought of eating with him had her pausing. He kept asking if she wanted to take it to her room and normally she would have yet something made her stay. "i'm . . . good here" she said to him as she really wasn't sure what she was feeling but it pushed her to try and accept his kindness now. However, something told her even if he had been hateful that same urge would have kept her in the abuse. Her dress was dirty and torn in a few places. While her hair was even worse as some of the hair ribbons were falling out, finally her hand came up and undid the ribbons as her hair fell down completely the ends hitting the floor and dragging a little. Her emerald eyes held the sorrow and guilt she felt for what had been placed on his shoulders. Still as she turned to the table she moved slow eyes kept downward cast as she walked to take a seat.

"I'll take you somewhere where you can get new clothes." he told her as he sat at the table, his eyes found the sight of her long hair cascading down her back like a waterfall to be entrancing. "There are places to bathe here in the cave as well which I'll show you when we get back." he added trying to be accommodating. He looked at her the sadness in her eyes made him feel like a knife was twisting in his heart for reasons that he could not fathom, he waited for her to take her seat before silently starting to eat. Many subjects to talk over floated in his mind as he looked at her across the table each would feel forced and would only add to awkward silence that filled the room now. One subject stuck and after finished his bite of bacon he thought how best to strike it up, three years alone and already it felt like he had forgotten how to speak to another being.

"I noticed you enjoyed the works of Tristan Acibek. I found some of his plays to be conflicting in their endings." he said referring to one of the books she had thrown at him, "I prefer Julius Shakespeare though I don't like how his Tragedy of Verona and Tulio ended. I never like sad endings." he said looking at her to see if she picked up the conversation.

Trisha ate quietly as she wasn't sure what to do as she took each bite. It would seem as though everything she did was with grace as she never made a move that wasn't suppose to be there. Showing just how proudly her parents had raised her to be yet here she was looking down as if in shame. She thought of taking a bath and getting new clothes to try and cheer herself up only as she suddenly heard his voice speak on the books that had been in her room she looked to him eyes wide in shocked he had noticed anything about her likes. "Yes well . . . I think Tristan had been confused himself while Shakespeare has the most drama always makes one thankful with what you have, still his ended are way overdone in my book. I mean in Hamlet everyone dies? thats a little over the top" she stated as she shook her head. She loved her books and the thought of being out of the castle in turn should make her happy as it was what she had wanted.

"Hamlet had more politics in his works than most always poking at the royals." Alec went on glad that she had perked up somewhat. "I've found I like Macbeth the most out of his plays still not an agreeable ending but a rather understandable." he went on smiling at her. He enjoyed books and plays he had a small library of them stored away in the cave. "Though I enjoyed the Stories of the Black Fox, his daring escape just before the castle of Comte la Dante went up in flames was exciting." he said smiling as he used his fork to enact the fight scene. "I also found his back and forth with the Monk to be humorous." he finished as he recovered some of his manners and took a drink.

Trisha nodded her head as she agreed very much it poked at the royals yet as a royal herself she couldn't talk much. As he brought up Macbeth she nodded her head once more as she had to think that was one of her favorites as well. "Midsummer was my favorite" she stated to him not speaking much on it just simply telling him. She always thought love was confusing and not something that one could control or predict so that was her favorite of the plays she read. Still she enjoyed the romance books she got at the castle more so when they had action in there. As he spoke of Black Fox she gave a laugh a little at his display shaking her head as she took another bite of food.

(Going to take a nap be back within an hour or so)

(Okay)

Alec nodded when she mentioned Midsummer, "I saw it performed quite well by a traveling troupe in the Village during its Summer Harvest Festival. I like elves to think that there are beings that can live as long as dragons is rather interesting." he said musingly. It was true Dragons could live forever but it was a rather interesting bit of magic that allowed the person they took as a mate if they were human to live just as long. It was one of the reasons why dragons did not live long after if their spouse were killed, the only reason his mother had lasted so long was because of him. He pushed these thoughts aside and continued on the conversation, "I'm sure I could find them again if you would like to see a performance with me." he offered it felt strange asking her to join him in watching a play. "I also enjoyed Allan Poe's poems, even if they are dark they are rather good. 'Quoth the Raven, never more.' that one is my favorite." he finished taking a bite of bread with a honey.
